Jan: They must be going at it hot and heavy. Guess they're going to let the answering machine pick up.

Philip's voice: Hi. Philip and Belle aren't in right now. Leave us a message. How was that?

Belle's voice: Perfect. Just perfect.

Jan: Now do you believe me?

Shawn-D: Jan? Jan!

Jan: What is it, pumpkin? I was just trying on my new uniform. I cannot wait to cheer my lover on, especially when he hits the long-awaited home run and slides right into home base.

Jan: [Blows whistle] "S" is for sexy, "H" is for hot, "A" is for awesome, "W" is for wow, and "N" is for... never-gonna-leave-this-place- again-as-long-as-you-live! And what does that spell? Shawn! Go, Shawn!

Shawn-D: That was great, especially the "go" part, 'cause you know what? That's exactly what I need to do. Jan, you need to let me go, because I need to talk to Belle before she makes a huge mistake with Philip.

Jan: Well, she's already made the huge mistake that you're thinking of, so why would I let you go? You need to get over her. This is just not healthy.

Shawn-D: Damn it, Jan, I am never going to give up on Belle. When are you going to get that through your head? She is the woman that I love. She would never be with Philip. We promised one another that we would try and talk it out before we'd ever break it off.

Jan: Yeah, but, uh, that's the thing, sugar -- you haven't even called her once since you left, and she got tired of waiting. See? Don't they make the absolute perfect couple? I think it's about time you let nature just take its course.

Shawn-D: Oh, shut up.

Jan: Belle is never going to give up on Shawn, and Shawn is never going to give up on Belle. Unless, of course, they both know it's over for a fact. I know exactly what I need to do.

Gene: I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice, Brady.

Brady: Well, Mr. Briscoe, you're Titan's Chief Legal Counsel. I couldn't turn you away. So what's going on? What's on your mind?

Gene: Well, I wish I came bearing better news. The agreement to fund the Isabella Toscano Black Concert Hall expires at midnight. If you can't get the voting members to agree to fund the project, I'm afraid it's officially dead.

Brady: If my grandfather was still alive, he wouldn't give up. He would make the family understand why this concert hall was so important. He's counting on me to carry out his wishes. So is Chloe.

Bo: Brady, come on, man. I am in the middle of trying to find my wife and son.

Brady: Bo, I know your mind is elsewhere, but I need to ask you a favor. Can you come over to titan for a meeting?

Philip: No. No way. Absolutely not.

Brady: Philip, will you just listen to what I have to say?

Philip: How many times have we been over this, Brady? I don't need another fistfight this morning, all right?

Brady: All right, listen, before you say no, I'd appreciate it if you would just listen to what I have to say.

Victor: Rhubarb -- my favorite. Would it be too much to hope that you're about to make one of your blue-ribbon rhubarb pies?

Caroline: Victor. Oh. Well -- ahem. Why don't you help me make it? It's not as if you have to run Titan on this island. What do you say?

Victor: I'd like that.

Caroline: What's wrong, Victor? It's Nicole, isn't it?

Victor: I never could keep anything from you. Yes, yes, it is. It won't be long before my widow poisons my entire family against each other. From what I understand, she's well on her way.

Nicole: What the hell is that doing there? How long has the man been dead? Marie, I want you to remove Victor's nameplate A.S.A.P.

Marie: Shouldn't we wait until the board names a new CEO?

Nicole: Excuse me. Are you questioning me? What, are you still afraid of the old man even now that he's dead?

Marie: Mr. Kiriakis was a wonderful, generous man.

Nicole: The name is Mrs. Kiriakis, and my late husband was anything but wonderful. Well, maybe he gave you two weeks' paid vacation, a lousy bonus, and a honey-baked ham for Christmas, but he gave me nothing but grief 24/7. Ahem. Let me give you a little tip, Marie -- the sooner you realize there's a new sheriff in town, the better off you'll be, so for the last time, I want you to call maintenance and have Victor's nameplate removed.

Marie: But, Mrs. Kiriakis, isn't that almost sacrilegious? After all, Mr. Kiriakis built this company from the ground up.

Nicole: Company. He built this company. This is not a church, and he is not a God, so it is not sacrilegious.

Brady: I agree with Marie on that one. Nicole... I think you're making a big mistake.

Patrick: I am not the enemy here, Dr. Evans. How do I convince you that I am not involved in some conspiracy with your captor -- our captor?

Marlena: Well, so far, we only have your word for it, and that's not worth very much, is it?

Patrick: Damn it, why can't you people see? I only want to save Jennifer. If she and her baby survived the plane crash, she is going to need our help right now.

Marlena: We understand that. That's why Abe and Roman and Hope went to search for her. They're trained to find missing persons. You're not. And if you have information about her whereabouts, you have not been very forthcoming. I just hope they find her pretty soon. That force field is nearly impossible to get through.

Patrick: You're wrong, Dr. Evans.

Marnana: You know some way to get through it? You do, don't you?

Abe: Hope!

Hope: Aah!

Abe: Hope! Hope!

Roman: Hope, Hope, can you hear me?

Abe: She's in shock.

Roman: Aw, damn it, Hope. We're not going to lose you, too.

Marlena: Patrick, if you know a way through that force field, you had better tell me.

Patrick: I don't.

Marlena: When I said it was almost impossible, you said I was wrong. What did that mean?

Patrick: All I meant was if Jack Deveraux found his way through the force field, so can I.

Marlena: What happened to Jack was a fluke. There was a power surge when he tried and slipped through. He hasn't been seen since. He could have been attacked in the jungle by some wild animal, could have been killed, or could have been killed by our host. Tony DiMera found his compass in the jungle. Abe found his shredded backpack in Salem Place.

Patrick: That doesn't mean Jack's dead. From everything I've heard about Deveraux, he's a pretty resilient guy. For all we know, it could be our captor is trying to scare the inhabitants of new Salem, warning us not to follow in Deveraux's footsteps.

Marlena: Well... you could have a point. Or you could have been sent by our host. Why, you could be a spy or an assassin.

Patrick: I swear on my life, I am not either one of those things. If you let me go, I'll prove it. If Jack and Jennifer are still alive, I'll find them, and I'll bring them to safety. I'll risk my own life for theirs.

Marlena: Why? You barely know them.

Patrick: Because it's the right thing to do, and maybe I haven't always done the right thing in my past. What do you say? Will you convince Abe and Roman to let me go?

Roman: All right, how's her pulse?

Abe: The shock from the electrical force field sent her heart into an erratic rhythm.

Roman: Well, we don't exactly have a defibrillator out here. What the hell do we do?

Abe: We'll just have to keep trying to keep her calm. All right, let's just talk to her, keep her breathing steady.

Roman: All right. Hope, Hope, this is Roman. Now, Abe and I are right here. Now, we need you to concentrate on your breathing, okay? Can you do that for us? Try to breathe evenly.

Abe: You know, early in my career, I was a paramedic in Chicago. I dealt with some cases like this.

Roman: Yeah, but that was different. You had equipment.

Abe: No, no, that's what I'm trying to say. We had so many cutbacks in the program -- we just had to figure out different ways to treat the victims.

Roman: Well, then, so what the hell did you do?

Abe: We improvised.

Roman: All right, let's improvise. What are you looking for?

Roman: What are you going to do with that?

Abe: I'm going to try to save her life.

Caroline: How can I ease your mind about Nicole?

Victor: You can't. Nicole is my mistake, a monster that I created.

Caroline: Oh, I wouldn't say that. She was off to a good start when you met her. Have you talked to Hope about Nicole?

Victor: Yes, and our daughter-in-law informs me that my slut of a wife has managed to cause a rift in my family. She has pitted Brady against Bo and Philip.

Caroline: Victor, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that the girl's head over heels in love with your grandson.

Victor: She's obsessed with my grandson, and that's what frightens me.

Brady: Why do you want to replace my grandfather's nameplate?

Nicole: Hello -- he's dead, I'm alive. And since I'll be leading this company into the 21st century, I need an office. Assuming we weren't planning on making this one a historical landmark, I want it.

Brady: Is this really the way to go about it, by attacking my grandfather's executive secretary?

Nicole: What?

Brady: And by replacing the nameplate on my grandfather's door? How can you say that you have Titan's best interests at heart? Victor Kiriakis is a name people trust. He is the whole reason why people do business with this company.

Nicole: Mm-hmm. But now he's gone, and life has to go on. Look, I simply asked her to remove victor's nameplate. She was the one who started giving me grief.

Marie: I felt I had to say something out of respect.

Nicole: Well, consider this, Marie -- the only reason I never fired you is out of respect.

Brady: All right, will you stop it? Get in here. I'd like to talk to you. Now you listen to me -- you want to succeed at this company, you have got to convince my grandfather's employees, his peers, and his family that you're going to carry out his visions. If you want to erase his memory, you better quit right now. So instead of replacing the nameplate on his door, why don't you carry out my grandfather's visions that he set forth in last year's stockholders meeting?

Nicole: Concert hall folder? I thought this was dead in the water.

Brady: It was. I just talked to Gene Briscoe. We have one last chance to set this project in motion. Are you game?

Philip: You know, you didn't have to come down here.

Belle: No, I wanted to. Besides, someone's got to keep the peace between you and Brady.

Philip: Yeah.

Belle: I can't have my half-brother hating the new man in my life.

Bo: Belle, sounds like you moved on from Shawn to Philip.

Jan: I am so smart, taping my little love monkey's every move. Oh, look at you, Shawn -- live on tape. You sure are one yummy little cookie. And with this new editing software, I'll be able to patch together some of the audio so that you can give Belle the ultimate blow off. Ha ha ha. Aw, poor Belle's going to be so devastated, she's going to have no choice but to run back to Philip's waiting arms, and once that happens, Shawn-Douglas, you will be all mine. .Yeah.

Roman: So what's that going to do?

Abe: The sap's a natural sedative. It should help calm Hope and regulate her heartbeat.

Roman: Abe. Abe, her eyes are fluttering.

Abe: All right. Slow and steady, slow and steady.

Roman: All right, damn, pard -- I'm impressed.

Hope: Did I make it?

Abe: You're alive.

Hope: No, the force field -- did I get across?

Abe: Not quite.

Hope: Oh, God. What happened?

Roman: Well, you got electrocuted, so just -- just take it easy, okay?

Abe: Hope!

Hope: Aah! Oh, God, Jennifer.

Abe: No, no.

Roman: Hey, not so fast. Not so fast.

Abe: You're not going anywhere, kiddo.

Roman: No, no, no. Just take it easy, huh?

Abe: Yeah. Your body's just suffered a tremendous shock -- literally.

Roman: Come on. You can't over-exert yourself. I want doc to take a look at you first.

Hope: Roman, I'm fine.

Roman: Hope --

Hope: I'm fine. Really, I appreciate your concern. Just help me get up.

Abe: All right, all right.

Roman: All right.

Abe: Here you go. Okay.

Hope: Oh.

Hope: There's got to be a way around this thing.

Roman: Well, I'm afraid without the equipment, it's going to be impossible to break that code.

Hope: Lucky for us, we're in possession of the key. I'm going to get it.

Roman: Hope. Hope, damn it. Wait.

Marlena: Those are noble words, Patrick, but it's not up to me to let you go.

Patrick: I have no reason to want Jennifer and her baby dead. I am not in on any plot, I swear. I'm innocent. When you were arrested as the serial killer, everyone, including my sister Mimi, was shocked. She couldn't believe it. She thought it was impossible that you could have killed all those people. She told me what a saint you were, how you were so fair and kind and caring, how you gave everybody the benefit of the doubt. Now, if that's true, it has to be in your nature to give me the benefit of the doubt and let me go.

Marlena: I appreciate your kind words. It really is not my decision to make.

Patrick: Look, I may not be a saint, but I am not responsible for Jen's kidnapping. I only want to help her and her baby. If you let me go, I will break through the electrical perimeter. [Door slams]

Hope: And how do you plan on doing that, Patrick?

Victor: Nicole is a cold-blooded killer. I'm afraid if Brady rejects her, she's liable to try and kill him.

Caroline: Well, maybe we better Hope Brady falls in love with Nicole.

Victor: Huh? Brady's in love with Chloe.

Caroline: Chloe's not there. In my experience, it's possible for a person to love two different people. There was a time when I was involved with two different men -- two men I loved very much. It didn't work out for us, Victor, but who's to say? If you'd stayed in Salem, maybe it would have been you.

Victor: So you think because Nicole is in town and Chloe isn't...

Caroline: When it comes to love, it just happens. Brady could be carrying a torch for Chloe, but it's possible he could fall in love with Nicole. Well, now that I've said that, it's also true that -- that Brady's love for Chloe may be his best defense against Nicole.

Victor: [Sighs] I don't want my grandson involved in any of this.

Caroline: Victor, there's not much you can do about it, given your circumstances.

Victor: Well, I've got to believe that -- that Bo and John are going to have their eyes open. They'll be able to see how dangerous Nicole really is.

Caroline: When it comes to feelings, love, or even attraction, we hear what we want to hear.

Victor: That's true. Brady's too much like his mother. Not only is he trusting, but... he's also very fair, and he's being led by his heart, not his head, and Nicole is far too bright to leave any evidence behind that's going to incriminate her. I should have cut Nicole loose when I had the chance.

Caroline: But you were in love with her.

Victor: No. I only loved one woman my entire life... and it certainly wasn't Nicole.

Nicole: Of course I want the concert hall to be built. That's why I offered you my jewelry to help fund it, but you refused to take it. Have you changed your mind?

Brady: No, no. With all due respect, it was a very generous offer, but, Nicole, your -- your jewelry wouldn't fund one day's worth of work. I mean, to fund this concert hall, we're going to have to return to the root of our troubles.

Nicole: Not Bo and Philip.

Brady: Yes, I'm afraid so. I've called a meeting.

[Intercom beeps]

Brady: Excuse me. Yes? Oh, they are?

Nicole: [Thinking] This couldn't have worked out better if I had planned it out myself. There's no way Bo and Philip are going to give in on the concert hall. Once this meeting is over, I'll be a few short steps from getting everything I ever wanted, including Brady.

Brady: Okay. Thank you. Bo, Philip, and Belle are here. You ready to go?

Nicole: Absolutely.

Brady: Hey, listen, Nicole, I just wanted to thank you for your support regarding this concert hall. It means a lot to me.

Belle: What I meant was Philip's my new roommate. He's subletting Mimi's room, since she's living with Rex. And I'm so, so sorry --

Bo: No, no. Hope is alive. I know what you've heard in the news, but... I'm going to find my wife and my son. Shawn is coming home, Belle. Trust me on that.

Philip: Bo, maybe we shouldn't have this meeting right now --

Bo: No, this is important. Victor would want us to put a stop to this concert hall nonsense.

Brady: Sorry you feel that way, Bo, but Granddad wanted this concert hall to be built. Don't you want to honor your father's wishes? It's your last chance to keep Victor's sons and grandsons on the same side, just like Granddad wanted.

Jan: That should do it. If only I had this audio-splicing technology when I was growing up. I could have pulled some wicked stunts on my Mother.

Shawn-D's voice: Hey, Dad, Mom, it's me. Sorry I've been out of touch. Anyway, I just wanted to check in, but my cell phone died. I haven't seen the news or picked up a newspaper, but I finally did hear about Marlena's death. Anyhow, I just wanted to say I love you both, and give my love to Zack.

Jan: Oh, oops. Shawn, gosh, did you forget to mention Belle? Aw, she is going to be so devastated.

Shawn-D: [Sighs] Oh, I have to get out of here. I know exactly how to take care of Jan Spears.

Bo: Brady, we already took a vote on this. You had no right to bring this up again just because it's in your self-interest.

Gene: Hello, everyone.

Bo: Gene.

Gene: I could hear you all the way down the hall. Now, let's calm down, all of you.

Bo: You're involved in this now?

Gene: Brady asked if I would moderate, and I'm happy to do so in the interest of a family truce. Now, what say we all step inside the office?

Bo: What is she doing here? This is a family meeting.

Brady: Nicole is Victor's widow, Bo. She has as much right to be here as we all do. Ahem. All right. I called you all here because today is the final deadline for funding the Isabella Toscano Black Concert Hall. Now, I know what you all are thinking, I want this concert hall built because I want Chloe to come back to Salem, right? Wrong -- it's more than that. I'm asking you all to reconsider your votes and really think about what Victor wanted.

Philip: He wanted to keep you away from Nicole.

Brady: He wanted to honor his daughter Isabella's memory.

Bo: Isabella would not want this silly concert hall. Brady... you didn't know your mother, and that's a tragedy, but I knew her well, and as long as there are needy people out there in the world, she would want this money to go to charity.

Brady: The money can still go to charity, Bo. Victor's fortune is not going to be tied up forever. Besides, my -- my Mom grew up in Italy. She loved the arts. My grandfather never would have approved this if -- if it wasn't what she wanted. This project meant a lot to him. It means a lot to me.

Brady: Come on, people! Why can't we honor my grandfather's memory and his daughter's memory? Why can't we abide by his final wishes? I don't want a -- I don't want a family divided. Victor Kiriakis wouldn't want that, either. Now, please, I am asking you all to reconsider your votes and approve this concert hall. What do you say?

Hope: I am so fed up with you, Lockhart. Just tell us what the damn code is. How do we break through the force field perimeter and gain access to the jungle?

Patrick: I don't know. I'd have to look at it first, study it.

Abe: You know the answers, Lockhart, only you're not telling, and we're going to get the truth out of you one way or the other.

Marlena: No, Abe, no violence, please. Patrick, if you know anything, you've got to tell us what it is.

Patrick: I have nothing more to say. You might as well just go ahead and kill me.

Abe: Well, that's quite a bluff, Lockhart. Be careful of what you ask for.

Hope: Could I see you outside?

Hope: I want to talk to him alone.

Abe: No way. You're not going to make out any differently.

Marlena: Abe, you know what? He and Hope have been through a lot together. They -- they survive a plane crash. Maybe he'll feel that, uh, he can trust her and open up to her. Worth a try.

Abe: I don't like it.

Hope: I'll be fine.

Marlena: And just in case, take that. [Door closes]

Abe: I hope she knows what she's doing.

Patrick: You're joking, right? Abe sent you in to kill me? You must've drawn straws. You could've picked a better weapon, though. Unless you're trying to make this as torturous as possible.

Hope: Don't be ridiculous. I'm not gonna kill you. All right, Patrick, I want some answers.

Caroline: Thank you, Victor. I'm flattered.

Victor: And as you said, who knows, if I had stayed in Salem, how different our lives would be today.

Caroline: Don't you see? Brady's situation is not unlike ours on this island. Separation from the people you love is very difficult.

Victor: How well I know.

Caroline: Yes. You made that quite clear just before...my death. You were so protective and very sincere. I was very grateful.

Victor: I always tried to be respectful of your relationship with Shawn. I...didn't want to upset you or your family. Of course, I know I wasn't always successful.

Caroline: When Shawn came back from Ireland visiting his sister and heard that we were spending time together... I thought he was going to have a heart attack. It's not as though we were having a torrid affair. We have a history together. We share a son, two grandsons.

Victor: I'm very proud of Bo and his family.

Caroline: I wish you could've spent more time with Bo.

Victor: So do I. Well, I'm grateful for the time I had. I enjoyed being a part of their lives.

Caroline: Yes.

Victor: But I miss being a part of your life, Caroline. You know, if there's any way that I could go back and change things -- undo my mistakes -- I would.

Brady: Before you all make a decision, I just want you to take your time and think about it, and understand that I would never spend my grandfather's fortune on a concert hall, even if I had to make the decision all by myself. So whatever you may think Granddad's motive was, this is what he wanted to do. So just consider that, okay?

Bo: Fair enough. Philip.

Bo: Hold on, you guys. I'm gonna call home and check the messages.

Belle: Okay.

Shawn-D's voice: Hey, Dad, Mom, it's me. Sorry I've been out of touch. Anyway, I just wanted to check in, but my cell phone died. I haven't seen the news or picked up a newspaper, but I finally did hear about Marlena's death. Anyhow, I just wanted to say I love you both. And give my love to Zack. [Beep]

Bo: Hey, Belle, um, you should hear this. It's a message from Shawn.

Belle: [Gasps] Oh, my -- oh, my God.

Nicole: Ahem.

Gene: Very nice speech. I don't know if it's gonna do any good, but at least you tried.

Brady: You know how much this concert hall meant to my grandfather. Why won't my family approve the damn thing?

Gene: You want to hear my honest opinion?

Brady: Absolutely.

Gene: The problem is Nicole. I don't mean to be cruel, but Bo is right. As long as Nicole is a part of this family, the only thing that Bo, Philip, Belle, and everyone else is going to agree on is just to disagree.

Nicole: [Thinking] Which is why, Brady, you and I are gonna end up rich, happy, and alone.

Jan: Poor Belle is never gonna know what hit her.

Jan: Things are looking up, baby doll, especially now that Belle's out of the picture. Aah! [Coughs] Shawn! Shawn! Stop it! I cannot breathe. [Coughs]

Belle: Thanks.

Bo: Yeah.

Philip: Belle, what did Shawn's message say?

Belle: It's what he didn't say. He didn't explain where he is or why he hasn't come home. He didn't know about his mom, but he knew about mine. He didn't say anything about me. He didn't even mention my name.

Philip: Come here.

Bo: Brady, I'm outta here. I'm sorry, but the only reason I think Victor was planning on building that folly of a concert hall was to keep Nicole away from you.

Brady: I disagree.

Bo: Well, then we got a problem. Gene.

Philip: Hey. I'm gonna take Belle home.

Brady: Um, your vote?

Philip: Uh, no, sorry, you've haven't convinced me. As far as I'm concerned, your little concert hall is on ice. Permanently. You have a good day, though.

Gene: Brady, you gave it your best. Call me if you need me, all right?

Brady: That's it. It's over. Not only did my family vote down the concert hall, but Chloe is never coming back to Salem.

Nicole: Brady, relax, okay? Your future is bright. You're gonna go a long way. [Thinking] And now that Chloe is never coming back, I'm gonna be right by your side, and no one will ever stop me.

Abe: I'm gonna check out the perimeter on the west side of the city, and then I'm gonna pay my...brother-in-law Count DiMera a surprise visit. If Tony tells me anything, I'll be in touch.

Marlena: You think that Tony and Patrick might be working together?

Abe: Well, let's face it, we don't know anything, so we've got to try everything.

Roman: All right, well, you just be careful out there, pard.

Caroline: We've been through this before, Victor, and we both know there is no turning back. After I was pregnant with Bo, our lives took a different turn.

Victor: But I never stopped loving you, Caroline. My love for you runs very deep. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.

Caroline: Oh. It's such a comfort, having you here.

Victor: I feel the same way.

Roman: I'm gonna put a stop to this, Doc.

Marlena: Roman, Roman, no. No, no.

Roman: Victor is hitting on my Mom.

Marlena: Uh... I don't think you' re right about that. I don't see that he's forcing himself on her.

Roman: What do you mean -- that she is --

Marlena: I think she's lonely. I think she's very lonely. And it's a well-known fact that they have a longstanding affection for each other, so what is the harm in an innocent kiss?

Roman: Well, it might be innocent on my Mom's side, but not his.

Marlena: Roman, you don't know that. Look, they may never see their families again. Is it wrong to take comfort from each other? I mean, at the end of the day, in new Salem, we are all we have.

Patrick: I understand why everyone's so suspicious of me. But I would never harm a hair on Jennifer's head. I would've sacrificed my life to stop that plane from taking off and bringing her here. You know that's true.

Hope: Then just tell us what you know.

Patrick: I'm sorry, but I can't.

Hope: Okay. All right, I'm gonna let you go. But under one condition.

Patrick: What's that?

Hope: I'm going with you.

Patrick: This sounds familiar. I don't think so, Hope. Think of what you've gotten yourself into.

Hope: You have a choice to make, all right? Either I go with you, or you stay. Now, what's it going to be?

John: Sami, just calm down.

Sami: Give me that. You took it because you wanted to punish her. I will never forgive you for this.

Marlena: It was like I was... free-falling right into the belly of hell.

Abe: You were.

Jennifer: There's finally a way out of here.

Jack: Jen, freeze!
