Kate: Hey.

Lucas: How was the Memorial Day service?

Kate: Oh, Commissioner Gordon gave a really, really nice tribute.

Lucas: Oh, really?

Kate: Mm-hmm.

Lucas: What did he say?

Kate: Well, he talked about, um, the men and the women in the armed services who sacrifice so much for our freedom -- for democracy.

Lucas: I wish I could've been there. I stopped by your hotel room last night.

Kate: Yeah, um, I went to see John.

Lucas: How's he doing?

Kate: Well, he's trying to be strong, but he -- he suffered such a tremendous loss.

Lucas: He certainly has.

Kate: He misses Marlena so much. It's funny. Shared grief -- it makes you -- it makes you do and say things that you wouldn't normally think of. I, um, I told John about my past.

Lucas: Wait a minute. How much did you tell him?

Kate: I, um, I told him everything. I told him -- I told him about Stefano paying me to have sex.

Lucas: Mom. What are you doing? Why would you tell him that?

Kate: Because he's my friend. And I really need someone to talk to and to confide in.

Lucas: What did he say? I mean, how did he react?

Kate: He was -- he was very understanding. He was -- he was a lot like Roman. It's really amazing how those -- how those two are so alike.

Lucas: I don't know how amazing it is. John thought he was Roman for years. I mean, everybody did.

Kate: What really boggles my mind, though, is I just can't believe that those two men had any hand in raising Sami. I mean, it's -- to have two great influences like that and still turn out to be such a --

Lucas: Stop it. I'm not going to sit here and let you trash her. Forget it.

Kate: Oh, honey, please, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Lucas: You are?

Kate: Yes, I am. I think -- I know that it's time to... honor my late husband by calling a truce with her.

Sami: I have to find a way to make Kate and John pay. There must be something that I haven't thought of. Corporate scandal. Tyco, Enron, Martha Stewart? I mean, if Martha Stewart could end up being sentenced to prison, why can't Kate? I just need something. I have to find some way to bring that scum-sucking battleship down. And make sure she takes John with her.

[Knock on door]

Sami: We don't want any!  What?!

Julie: Tropical storm or a hurricane?

Jennifer: "My name is Jack Deveraux, and I'm your father. Welcome to the world, sweet baby. I'm sorry I'm not there to greet you in person. I'm sitting on a star, high up in the sky, watching over you. I'm sure you're going to be one of the most beautiful babies in the world -- you and Abigail." Oh. You're still awake. Maybe you want to hear the rest of this. "It's important that you know you were made with love -- a love as deep as the ocean, as high as the moon -- a love I shared with your mother. She'll take wonderful care of you, but just remember, your daddy will be there, too, smiling down on you and loving you, even if you can't see me."

Patrick: [Thinking] Jack's watching over your baby, and I'm going to look out for you.

Jennifer: How -- how was Patrick able to capture Jack's voice like that?

Patrick: It was easy.

Jennifer: Patrick, what?

Patrick: Jennifer, I was able to channel Jack through you.

Lexie: Abe's alive? Why would you say that, Mom?

Celeste: Alexandra, darling, now, listen to me --

Lexie: No, no, no, you stop. It can't be true.

Celeste: Darling, I tried to contact him through my tarot cards, but -- but there was nothing, as if his spirit had just vanished.

Lexie: Do you think this is helping me?

Celeste: But it was after I touched the letter that was delivered with Theodore’s birthday present -- oh, and then I knew, Alexandra. I knew.

Lexie: Mom, don't you see what you're doing -- making me hope? I can’t. I cannot go through losing Abe again. I was with him when he died. I can’t.

Celeste: But, Alexandra, darling, listen now -- do you think I would say anything if I didn't feel it so strongly?

Lexie: Mom, don't do this to me. Not today, of all days -- Theo’s first birthday. It's hard enough as it is getting through this without Abe. Okay. If he's alive, where is he? What do you want me to do? Is there anything else you can tell me? Yeah, exactly as I thought. Listen, I'm going to go check on Theo. Please, put the cards away and help me decorate this house, so we can celebrate your grandson's birthday.

Celeste: [Gasps] Oh, Abraham, I believe you're alive. But someone else we know and love is about to die.

[Sirens blaring]

Marlena: How much longer can this thing go on?

[Siren fades away]

[Door lock moves]

Marlena: Still locked. We are all so on edge, and now every time someone new comes to the island, we -- we have to go through this?

Roman: Yeah. But it's nothing compared to what their families are going through back in Salem, believing they're dead.

Marlena: Yes, of course. Or what our families are going through. Um, how do we find out who's next?

Abe: There's one way to find out.

Roman: All right. So, where do you think the new structure's been built?

Abe: It's hard for me to say.

Roman: Well, give it a try, anyway.

Abe: When I first arrived, I started mapping out our -- for want of a better word -- prison. And as the city evolves, the perimeter expands. So we can estimate that the northern boundary is the most likely spot for new construction.

Roman: Agreed. Now, here -- this is where Doug was almost electrocuted.

Abe: Yeah.

Roman: Now, 30 degrees north -- right here seems to be the most plausible place for a new building.

Marlena: Isn't there some way out of here?

Roman: Well, we managed to slip out of the city and into the jungle a few times.

Abe: But the city changes almost daily, and as the city changes, so do the points of entry.

Roman: So if somebody leaves, they may not be able to find their way back in.

Marlena: Has it happened? Has someone left and not come back?

Roman: Well, um... one person left.

Abe: And we haven't heard from him since.

Marlena: Who was it?

Roman: Jack.

Marlena: [Gasps]

Celeste: Tell me, spirits, tell me which one of our loved ones is going to die. Maybe... maybe the answer I seek is behind that door.

[Gasps]

Lexie: Mom, I'm sorry I was short with you earlier. Okay? I understand you want to believe that Abe is alive, but it's not helping me, especially not today. Especially when I just read Abe's letter -- his wishes that I should move on with my life. Look, I'm not saying I'm ready to start dating again. I am definitely not, but I do have a party to put together. So... if you don't mind, excuse me.

Celeste: Of course, darling. I'm sorry.

Lexie: I forgive you. Ha ha ha.

Patrick: I don't know what came over me -- writing in your baby book. Talk about overstepping -- I just -- I felt like I knew what Jack would say, and I was compelled to write it down.

Jennifer: No, this is exactly what Jack would say, but I don't understand how you did this. You met him once at a NASCAR race, Patrick.

Patrick: I know, but I've spent a lot of time with you, and I know how much he loved you and his family. I just -- I grabbed a pen and tried to write through Jack's eyes.

Jennifer: Well, that is -- that is so sweet because I really felt as if he wrote that note. So now my baby will know Daddy, too, from your words.

Patrick: No, more than that. Through you... and Abigail.

Jennifer: Patrick, thank you so much. I'm not kidding -- I was staring at this blank page and I-I just kept trying to imagine what Jack would write down on that page, and... I guess the only thing that would happen is I would start crying. Listen, I just need to pull myself together because we need to get to Theo’s birthday party. And this is going to be hard day for Lexie, anyway, and I need to be there for her and be strong. So at this rate, we're going to be late.

Patrick: Okay, um, I'll hop in the shower.

Jennifer: I'm going to do the same thing, and I'll wrap Theo’s present on the way.

Patrick: Okay.

[Cellular phone rings]

Patrick: Hello?

Man: How are your bruises healing?

Patrick: Where are you?

Man: I'm right where I need to be. I've been keeping an eye on you, sport. I've been watching you and that fine-looking lady all morning. You know, I think the grieving widow is quite fond of you.

Patrick: I told you, stay away from Jennifer.

Man: As long as you do exactly what you're told.

Patrick: Don't worry, Jennifer. I won't let anything happen to you or your baby.

Lucas: You're serious. You're really willing to bury the hatchet with Sami.

Kate: Well, I promised Roman that I would try to reach out to her. So what can I do? I mean, she's his daughter.

Lucas: I thought you gave up trying.

Kate: Well, I'm going to try a little harder.

Lucas: Good, that honestly makes me happy. Of course, I have to ask why.

Kate: Because Roman and John were... both very understanding and forgiving about Sami and... her past antics, so I think the least I can do is try.

Lucas: Well, good, good. Maybe I'll talk to her, too.

Kate: No. Just because I'm giving my relationship with Sami a second chance doesn't mean that I'm happy about your relationship with her. As far as I'm concerned, you and Sami together are a big mistake.

Julie: I'm sorry to stop by without calling first.

Sami: Come in.

Julie: Well, I was in the neighborhood, thought I'd take a chance. From the looks of you, I was right.

Sami: What, are you trying to make me feel better or worse?

Julie: I thought maybe you could use a friend.

Sami: You know what? Now is not really a good time for me.

Julie: This is not the time for you to be alone.

Sami: Um, could I offer you some water, tea, iced tea --

Julie: Iced tea, iced tea, lots of lemon.

Sami: Sure.

Julie: Thank you. So where's will?

Sami: Uh, grandpa Shawn, um, took him on a fishing trip.

Julie: How nice of him.

Sami: Is that why you're here, to see will?

Julie: No, no, actually, uh... I wanted to repay the kindness that you and Lucas showed me the night of Doug’s wake... see how you're doing, see if you needed anything.

Sami: Well, I'll feel a lot better when Kate and John are gnashing their teeth in hell. Uh, well, that's where evil stepparents from hell belong, right? Here you go. Um... tell me something.

Julie: If I can.

Sami: You used to be known as a conniving bitch. What did you use for inspiration when you really wanted to make someone suffer?

Julie: Get dressed. I'll show you something.

Jennifer: Hold on one second, Patrick. This fell off in the car. Let me just get it back on there.

Tek: Hey, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Oh, Tek, hey. How are you? It's good to see you. Uh, oh, I'm sorry. This is Patrick. Patrick, this is Thomas Edward Kramer. Did I get that right?

Tek: Yeah, you got it.

Jennifer: Good.

Tek: You can call me Tek.

Patrick: Nice to meet you.

Tek: Do know you from somewhere or something?

Patrick: Um, I don't think so.

Jennifer: Oh, but you've probably seen Patrick around. He's Bonnie Lockhart’s son, Mimi’s brother.

Tek: Patrick Lockhart. Yeah, that does sound familiar.

[Knock on door]

Lexie: [Gasps] Jennifer. Hi, sweetie.

Jennifer: Are we late?

Lexie: No. Patrick, Tek. No, you're right on time. Come on in.

Jennifer: Okay. Oh, look at it in here. It's great.

Celeste: Hello, everyone.

Jennifer: There he is.

Tek: Hey.

Jennifer: The birthday boy.

Lexie: Yeah, birthday boy. Is this -- ha ha.

Jennifer: Hi. Happy birthday.

All: And many more yay!

Lexie: That's a good boy.

Jennifer: Look.

Celeste: [Gasps] Oh, my, look.

Jennifer: Look at that.

Tek: How you doing, Lex?

Lexie: Oh. Much better. Thank you. Thanks for bringing over the box from the station.

Tek: Oh, no, I was happy to help. Lexie...

Lexie: Hmm?

Tek: What do you know about this Patrick guy?

Lexie: Well, he's, uh, my housekeeper Bonnie Lockhart’s son, and he's staying in Jennifer's, uh, apartment over her garage. Anything else you need to know?

Tek: I don't know. I just -- I feel like I've seen him somewhere. I don't know.

Lexie: You know, I had my suspicions when I first met him, but Jennifer swears he's completely trustworthy, and, really, I'm beginning to be swayed. I mean, he's definitely taking very good care of Jennifer and her baby. I'm going to get some more lemonade. Excuse me.

Tek: Oh, yeah.

Patrick: If you're curious about me, Kramer, why don't you just ask me yourself?

Tek: Okay. You were in prison, weren't you?

Jennifer: There you go. Ha ha ha ha.

Celeste: There he goes. I'll get him, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Okay. Ha ha ha.

Celeste: Come back here, you. You, come back here to me. Oh. Oh. What have we got here, huh? Where did this come from? What is -- [Gasps] Oh, my. Is the person who's going to die... behind that door?

Jennifer: Celeste? Are you okay?

Celeste: Uh... yes, I'm all right.

Jennifer: Oh, all right. Well, we're going to go open some more presents. Come on.

Celeste: I must find out who's behind that door before it's too late.

[Door lock clicks]

Marlena: It's unlocked. How did that happen?

Abe: Usually it doesn't happen this fast.

Roman: We don't know how it happens, but, uh, we should be grateful. Now we can get out of here and do some exploring.

Abe: Well, once we find the new house, we'll be able to tell who Salem's next victim is. Let me get some water to take with us.

Marlena: Roman? You worried about Sami?

Roman: Well... doc, actually, I am probably more worried about John and Kate, because who knows what Sami might do now that both her parents are gone?

Kate: Look, I'm going to try to patch things up with Sami, okay? But it doesn't mean that I approve of the two of you together.

Lucas: You know what? You don't have to approve. 'Cause it's not about you. It's about me and my feelings for Sami, and trust me, we'll work it out together. We don't need you.

Kate: Lucas, would you just think about this, please?

Lucas: That's all I do is think about it. Night and day, that's all I do. And I'm telling you, the woman has changed.

Kate: Well, not towards me, she hasn’t.

Lucas: All right, fine. I'm sorry, all right? Maybe you're right. Maybe she still has a lot of anger towards you and John, but I know how she feels about me, all right? I know that's real.

Kate: Sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself of that so tell me, has she ever come right out and told you that she loves you?

Lucas: Yes, Mom, actually, she has.

Kate: Ah. And where was that?

Lucas: At the circus.

Kate: Don't tell me. Right before she thought she was about to be killed by a tiger?

Sami: I don't understand.

Julie: This is my mother's grave.

Sami: Right. No, I get it -- that part. But I don't understand why we're here. You were going to show me what inspires you to bring people to their knees.

Julie: That's right.

Sami: Well?

Julie: It's a lesson that took me a long time to lea..

Sami: Oh, that kind of lesson.

Julie: And I'm happy to share it with you. Whenever I was tempted to seek revenge, I'd come here.

Sami: What, cast a spell? A sacrifice?

Julie: Uh, no.

Sami: Well, then what?

Julie: When I was so hurt that I wanted to hurt somebody back... my mother knew just what to say to me. No matter how hell-bent I was on revenge, she talked me out of it.

Sami: Oh, brother.

Julie: Oh, really? This from the girl who swore she heard her mother calling from beyond the grave?

Sami: Well, everyone told me that I was crazy.

Julie: Well, do you think you are? Just 'cause I can't hear her voice anymore doesn't mean that I -- I don't remember the wisdom and the guidance she shared with me when she was here. Look... despite everything that happened recently, your mother was a wise woman. Talk to her. Listen to what she has to say to you. Listen before it's too late.

Lexie: I have some fresh lemonade here.

Celeste: Oh, wonderful, darling.

Tek: So, were you in prison?

Patrick: Of course not. Why would you ask that?

Tek: There's a shank I seen in prisons... some of the inmates make 'em when they're behind bars. About three inches long and barbed, made of wire... very distinctive.

Patrick: So what's your point?

Tek: They make a very distinctive scar like the one on your arm.

Patrick: There are other ways of getting cut, too. I happen to have a lot of scars. I play hard, Kramer. It doesn't mean I was attacked.

Jennifer: Patrick. I am so glad that you finally decided to talk to the police.

Tek: About what?

Jennifer: I'm sorry.

Tek: Either of you want to fill me in?

Patrick: Go ahead. You might as well tell him.

Jennifer: Uh, well, when my grandmother died, she left me these very valuable bearer bonds, and they were stolen.

Tek: I remember. I saw the report.

Jennifer: Right, so Patrick went after the guys and he found them, but unfortunately they jumped him and beat him up badly, Tek.

Tek: Is this true?

Patrick: Yeah.

Tek: Then you should've sought medical attention, yes? And the treating doctor should've been obligated to file a police report.

Patrick: Yeah.

[Cellular phone rings]

Tek: This is the station. I gotta take this. But we're not through. I want to hear the rest of the story.

Jennifer: Patrick, I'm sorry. I knew you didn't want the police to know. I know you're trying to protect me and the baby, but I think it's good that now it's out. Tek can look into it now.

Lexie: Jennifer?

Jennifer: Yeah.

Lexie: Would you mind helping Theo when he starts his finger-painting?

Jennifer: Oh, sure. My favorite.

Lexie: Thank you.

Jennifer: Okay.

Lexie: And, um, maybe you and Tek can help open the jars. Their lids are on pretty tight.

Patrick: Okay. You got it.

Lexie: Thank you.

Tek: Okay, so finish telling me about the attack.

Patrick: Sure. Uh, here, why don't you give me a hand? These lids are on pretty tight. Oh!

Jennifer: [Gasps]

Celeste: Oh!

Theo: [Giggles]

Tek: Oh, ha ha ha. Yeah, you think this is funny, right? Oh, you do, do you?

Lexie: No. Stay.

Tek: Is that -- oh. Oh, yeah?

Lexie: You stop! Aah!

[Giggling]

Celeste: Alexandra, you mustn't forget about Abraham.

Jennifer: Uh, did you get to tell Tek the rest of the story?

Patrick: No. Uh, I was about to spill, but then... he spilled.

Jennifer: Oh, gotcha. Ooh.

Patrick: What, are you okay? Why don't you sit down and rest?

Jennifer: All right. Whoo!

Patrick: Give me those.

Jennifer: All the excitement. Thank you. Ooh, I don't want to sit on the baby's -- oh, what is this?

Lexie: [Giggling]

Tek: I got you cornered.

Lexie: No, no, please, have mercy!

Tek: Not until you apologize for laughing.

Lexie: Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. It's just that you're so orange.

Tek: Oh, yeah?

Lexie: Uh-huh.

Tek: Well, I wonder what you look like in orange from head to toe.

Lexie: No. Uncle!

Tek: Uh-huh.

Lexie: Second cousins, stop. You stop it right now.

Tek: All right, you're off the hook. Next time, you are going to feel my wrath. I'm dripping all over the place.

Lexie: Ew, take off your clothes.

Tek: You don't beat around the bush, huh?

Lexie: I meant, take your clothes off so I can wash them while you shower.

Tek: Whatever you say.

Lexie: Um... Tek, ahem. Even though I am a doctor, maybe you should get undressed in the bathroom.

Tek: Right.

Lexie: Yeah.

Tek: Right. Hey, thanks for including me today. It really meant a lot.

Roman: All right. Well, we must be getting close.

Abe: Yeah... according to our calculations, that new structure should be right around here.

Marlena: [Gasps] Oh... I don't believe it. Tell me it's not so.

Sami: I think all those years with Doug turned you soft. You used to be the biggest troublemaker in town. What happened to you?

Julie: I grew up, and I learned to love.

Sami: Well, you don't really expect me to pour my heart out to my mother's tombstone, do you?

Julie: If you can talk about the pain you are in, I promise you this hate that you're feeling for John and for Kate is going to disappear.

Sami: I like the hate. I need the hate. My mother is dead because of them.

Julie: You don't really believe that.

Sami: You're damn right I do. They conspired against my mother, and they set her up as the serial killer so they could be together.

Julie: Sami, can you hear how ridiculous that sounds?

Sami: It's not ridiculous. It's the truth.

Julie: Your mother confessed. John loves you.

Sami: He doesn’t.

Julie: He does. Your mother's dead. Roman is dead. The only parent you've got left is John.

Sami: Don't say that. John is not my father. I'm never going to turn to him or Kate. I don't have anyone to turn to.

Julie: Well, Sami, you better find someone.

Sami: Right, because everyone needs someone, right?

Julie: Yeah. Yeah. That's the way it works. What about my cousin?

Sami: Lucas?

Julie: He cares about you. You have a little boy together.

Sami: No. Lucas is just a distraction, okay? I don't have time for him in my life right now. The only thing that matters to me is getting revenge -- making Kate and John pay for what they have done.

Kate: Come on, let's go.

Marlena: No, it just -- it can't be. It just can't --

Abe: Well, Jack's house has been here ever since he arrived on the island.

Jack: So nothing's changed yet. Well, sometimes it does take a little longer than overnight for a new structure to appear.

Abe: Wait a minute, wait a minute.

Roman: What is it, Abe?

Abe: Well, our host was up to something last night. I think I know what it was.

Lucas: You're just thrilled, aren't you, Mom?

Kate: No. No, I'm not thrilled. I hate to see you hurting like this. But if you want to still pursue things with Sami...

Lucas: No. No. You know what? No more excuses. I'm through. I'm through with her. After what I heard today, no way. I want nothing to do with Sami Brady -- ever. You're right. You're right, you know? I guess certain things aren't meant to be. That's cool. I can't believe it. I can't believe I actually thought that she could change. I mean, I thought we had a shot this time.

Kate: Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry. I am so sorry.

Lucas: Yeah, whatever. I gotta go.

Kate: Oh! I tried. I really did, Roman. I -- I know I promised you that I would try to work things out with your daughter, but she has hurt Lucas for the last time. I think I've fulfilled my obligation.

Julie: Sami, you've got to let go of this hate.

Sami: Why?

Julie: Because it'll eat you up like cancer. It doesn't just fly in the direction it's aimed at. It hangs around and consumes you.

Sami: Well, that's the price I'm willing to pay.

Julie: Oh, it's a price nobody should be paying. What a waste of time going after John and Kate. What a mistake.

Sami: Well, I don't think so.

Julie: Well, it is. You've gotta patch things up with those two.

Sami: Look, I don't see why you think that you're --

Julie: Sami, you should be following your heart.

Sami: I am. Julie, my heart is telling me to go after John and Kate.

Julie: I'm talking about Lucas.

Sami: Now we're talking about Lucas?

Julie: Call him. Tell him about this terrible pain you're feeling. Doesn't he have a right to know?

Sami: I don't know.

Julie: Yes, he does. Call him. Do the right thing, Sami.

Sami: Well, what do you think, Mom? Do you think maybe Julie's right? Oh, God, maybe I should do the right thing for once.

Tek: Where's the towel? Uh...

Lexie: [Gasps] Uh, uh... I was just getting these in for you. Sorry. Oh, Abe. I don't think I can do it -- move on... leave you. Even if it is what you want me to do.

Roman: What is it, Abe?

Abe: I'm not sure, but something's different.

Marlena: Look. Belle made that plaque for Jack and Jennifer when they got married last year.

Abe: That's it. That's what's different. That plaque wasn't here before.

Roman: And look at the date on that.

Marlena: Oh, my gosh. That's today's date.

Abe: Well, then I'm afraid we know who the next victim will be.

Jennifer: It looks like... Celeste lost one of her cards.

Patrick: Look, I want you to get some rest, and then I'm going to take you home, okay?

Jennifer: Okay. That's a deal.

[Cellular phone rings]

Patrick: I'm getting a phone call. I'll be right over here. Yeah.

Man: I noticed you getting pretty chatty with the policeman.

Patrick: How did you even know I was talking to him?

Man: Because I'm standing right outside.

Patrick: Look, you don't need to follow me. I told you I'd stick to the plan.

Man: Good. Because if you don't, then sweet little Jennifer and her unborn baby are dead meat.

Patrick: Now, you listen to me, da--

[Phone hangs up]

Patrick: Hello? Are you there? What have I gotten Jennifer into?

Celeste: I need to know who's behind that door. Who's going to die next? Aah! No. No, it can't be. Jennifer and the baby -- they -- they can't die next.

“Next on Days Of Our Lives”

Belle: I don't know what I would do without you.

Philip: You'll never have to find out.

Brady: I'll be fine, okay?

John: Living with somebody, with two people who could be murderers? I doubt it.

Jennifer: Jack is alive! And now I have proof.

Lucas: Have you been lying to me all this time?
