On the contrary,
I look at the new evidence
as a starting point.
Whoever kidnapped Hope left us
a fresh set of clues.
That's where we're going
to start digging.
You do that.
What are you doing here?
Nicole: Marie tells me you've been in meetings all day. That's clearly not the case.
Victor: As you can see, I'm very busy conducting a search for my daughter-in-law. I really don't have time for anything else.
Nicole: Yes. You have to keep a clear head. You can't afford to be preoccupied with other things, right? That is why I suggest you take a moment to listen to what I have to say. I know the real reason you've been avoiding me.
Sami: Hi.
Brandon: Hi.
Sami: Guess what.
Brandon: Something good.
Sami: I checked out
your schedule and mine,
and found out that we have
the same days off.
Well, the resort where
I originally booked our rooms
didn't have any rooms available
on such short notice,
so I got a refund and booked
us a room here.
I know it's not quite as nice,
but we're not going to be
spending a lot of time
taking advantage
of the amenities, right?
I am so sorry
that it took so long for us
to have our romantic getaway,
but I will make it up to you.
Brandon: Samantha, I can't.
Sami: You can't go away with me?
Brandon: Not now. You know I can't go out of town and leave Lexie.
Celeste: Thank you.
Celeste: Alexandra, are you awake?
Lexie: I am now.
Lexie: Didn't I tell you to leave?
Celeste: Darling, you -- you asked me to be on your side, and I am, always.
Lexie: Does that mean you believe I'm innocent?
Celeste: I believe... deep down inside you want to do what's right, Alexandra.
Lexie: If your vibes don't tell you when your own daughter is telling the truth, then I can't listen to anything you say.
Celeste: : No, no. Listen. Now, you look. Your husband and I have known and loved you for years, but you can't bring yourself to listen to us. But, no, now your brother Tony swoops into town, whispers in your ear... Alexandra, I am your mother! Tell me, what are you plotting with him? And tell me before it's too late!
Rolf: Uh, Bart said
you wanted to see me --
something urgent?
Tony: Yes. I want you to tell me everything you know about the kidnapping of Hope and Zack Brady!
Billie: You think somebody besides the DiMeras are involved in Hope and Zack's kidnapping? Who? Is that why you took me off the case -- the case that everybody is working their butt off on the force to do? What? No. You cannot think it's me!
Roman: But I do.
Shane: So, you've learned a lot about high fashion, have you, john?
John: Not a damn thing.
I wisely, so I thought,
chose a cover here that would
make me completely believable
as a hands-off boss.
Shane: Yeah, I hear Basic Black's been taking a few hits recently.
John: More than a few.
Shane: Well, I'm sure the ISA will be more than willing to help defray the costs.
John: No, I won't hear of it. I'm grateful for everything you've done already.
Shane: No, you're helping us, john. So, Kate Roberts is in charge of the day-to-day, huh?
John: That's a fact.
Shane: She has no idea?
John: That I'm a spy? No. No one does.
Shane: Not even Marlena?
Billie: I know Bo
was thinking that I --
okay, Bo was just lashing out.
He was frustrated,
and I can I understand why he
might think that I'm involved
with -- with this whole thing,
but come on, Roman! You?
Roman: Billie, I'm not saying you had anything to do with the kidnapping of Hope and Zack. When I said you were involved, I meant emotionally.
Billie: Well, of course I am! So are you. So is Abe. So is everybody on this whole force, but you're not asking anyone else not to help.
Roman: No, and I haven't had to ask anybody else to stay on task to get their regular assignments done.
Billie: Would you rather
I hadn't found that sweater,
Roman?
'Cause you know what?
I really wish I hadn't.
Finding it with Hope's blood
on it.
I'm -- I'm praying
that it's a setup
and Hope is still alive,
like you said, and that someone
other than Lexie
is behind all this.
And maybe, with this new piece
of evidence,
we will find whoever that is --
whoever is still out there!
Rolf: You don't imagine I would be so foolish as to kidnap the child that Alexandra has raised as her own, leave her in the dark, let her worry, and then frame her? I exist solely to serve you and your sister, as do the twins. Don't forget you have those two DiMera soldiers at your disposal to do as you wish -- to break your sister out of prison, locate the missing Hope Brady!
Tony: You know,
it hasn't escaped my notice
that every time you try to help Alexandra her situation becomes
more dire.
The twins aren't ready
to go on some mission
directed by the likes of you.
I'm just beginning
to win their trust.
You've got miles to go
before you win mine,
so forget about the twins.
Forget about any plan
you may be hatching
because we're going to
handle things my way.
Lexie: Why should I tell you anything, mother? You wouldn't believe me, anyway. If you and Abe are the only two people who know and love me so well, why is it that Tony and Brandon are the only two people who believe I'm telling the truth? You want me to cooperate with Abe and the police, right? Guess what -- that is exactly what I've done. You see where it's gotten me? Because regardless of the facts, I am still a DiMera. So, I must be guilty.
Celeste: But, darling, you are only half a DiMera.
Lexie: You're right. So I can only count on half my family.
Lexie: Guard! My mother was just leaving.
Celeste: Alexandra, darling,
please listen --
Lexie: No.
Celeste: I will pray for you, darling. My senses are telling me that you are about to do something very foolish, Alexandra. But, darling, if I should never see you again... I love you. And I will grieve for you forever.
Celeste: Alexandra... darling...
Lexie: No. No, I can't listen to her. She doesn't believe me. I have to count on Tony now. He's the only person who can help me.
Marlena: Hi there.
Kate: Hey! Something wrong?
Marlena: Well... I've never seen you behind the reception desk before.
Kate: Oh!
Sharon's gone for the day.
So, are you here to see John?
Marlena: Mm-hmm. But I see his door's closed. Who's he in with?
John: Marlena knows that I've maintained some ISA contacts, but that's all, and you don't know how much I've hated keeping this from her.
Shane: Well, John, from the very beginning you've been concerned about keeping your family uninvolved for their own protection.
John: I know,
but it's getting harder
and harder every day.
My wife and daughter --
they're right in the middle
of this whole Gemini twin thing.
We actually used her access
to the DiMera mansion
to secure those satellite photos
of the island,
but this whole business
is really shaking her up.
Literally.
She's stirring up memories
of when she was held captive
on that island.
It was all I could do
to convince her not to go
on this trip with me.
Shane: Well, if you ever need any logistical support, remember, we have Roman in place.
John: As long as I'm not telling Marlena, I'd rather keep my status a secret from Roman also.
Shane: Understood. That's fine for now, but it may not always be. You might be asked to take on a partner someday.
John: Well, hopefully, between you and me and the Salem P.D., we can find Hope. You know, I wish it were under better circumstances, Shane, but it's damn good to have you back.
Shane: Well, the Brady's are family.
John: You know, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Hope could be held on one of DiMera's islands. That's where Stefano took Marlena. We still don't know why or what he did to her. That's what I'm going to find out. But we have to make sure that no one suffers like that again. Bottom line -- Tony DiMera does not win.
Victor: Nicole, I don't have time.
Nicole: Victor, you saw that Penthouse Grill waiter kiss me, right? You don't want to believe that I would be unfaithful to you, do you? If you don't trust my fidelity, at least I'd hope you wouldn't think I was that stupid -- to kiss one of your employees in your restaurant when I knew you were there.
Victor: But you did.
Nicole: He kissed. I stood.
Victor: I really don't want to hear it.
Nicole: Yes, you do.
Trust me.
You want to hear
all the gory details.
It may inspire actual gore in the very near future
but you should hear it
from the horse's mouth first.
Nicole: Come on.
Sami: Brandon, Lexie is in jail. She might be there for the rest of her life. Are you going to eternally be on emergency call for her, that you're never going to be able to go anywhere and do anything fun with me ever again?
Brandon: Of course not.
Sami: Well, I don't even understand what you think you can do for her. I mean, my aunt Hope is the one who is missing, and may I point out, everyone thinks Lexie is guilty.
Brandon: Samantha,
I care about finding Hope,
which means finding out
who actually did this,
and that is not Lexie.
Look, if you don't want
to trust me, fine.
If you don't think
that I'm a good and fair judge
of people...
but obviously,
we're not going to have fun
this weekend at this point,
so no use wasting your money.
Sami: Wait a second. Let me get this straight, okay? I ask you to go away with me. I am paying for the whole trip. You are blowing me off, and now you're going to be the one to walk out of here mad at me?
Brandon: I have to be somewhere.
Sami: You're going to Lexie, aren't you?
Brandon: Yeah, I am.
Kate: I don't know who he's in there with, but I assume it's a client. I just hope that whatever is going on behind those closed doors has nothing to do with my job security.
Marlena: I wouldn't worry if I were you.
Kate: Well, I think I'd better call it a day. I'll talk to you soon.
Marlena: Mm-hmm.
Kate: Bye-bye.
Marlena: Bye-bye.
John: One thing we've got going for us -- DiMera has no idea that we've got those photographs or that I know the location of the islands, so we've got the element of surprise on our side.
Shane: Neither does he know you have the whole of the ISA backing you up, and we have to be very careful to keep it that way.
[Knock on door]
Sami: Oh, my day is just getting better and better.
Kate: Oh, come on, cheer up.
Good news.
Phase one of our plan
went exactly as we wanted to.
Thanks to your brilliant effort
on Halloween,
victor now believes --
not that it took
much convincing -- that Nicole
was unfaithful to him.
Sami: Thanks to my brilliant effort? Oh, that's great. So I see -- when Victor figures out that we set up Nicole, I'm the one who's going to fry, right? What do you mean by "phase one"? You mean it's not enough that I dressed up as the person I hate most -- well, one of them. I had to go to the Cheatin' Heart and have those guys paw at me and pretend like I actually liked it. You're going to ask me to do something else?
Kate: Well, what,
do you want Nicole and Victor
to go to the altar,
we go to our graves? Sami, we are very close here.
Oh, okay, I see.
Do you want
to lose Brandon forever?
Sami: No, I am not going to lose Brandon. We're going away together on a romantic getaway.
Kate: Oh. Dear God, how can you be so shortsighted?
Sami: What, you can't stand to live without me for a couple of days? What are you going to make me do that you're not willing to risk yourself?
Kate: Oh, I knew this was a mistake.
Sami: Likewise.
Kate: Okay, fine.
I'll take care of everything
concerning Victor and Nicole,
okay?
But don't you expect
to reap any reward.
You just go ahead
and self-destruct,
because you know something?
The world would be
a better place without you.
Brandon: Hey.
Lexie: Brandon, hi.
Brandon: You're still not feeling so great, are you?
Lexie: Stress.
Brandon: I know. We should get you a doctor.
Lexie: I am a doctor. Uh, I won't feel better until my name is cleared, but I can't tell you how much it helps just knowing that you're on my side.
Brandon: And what about Tony?
Lexie: He's on my side, too. Look, Brandon, please don't be suspicious of Tony, okay? You're the only two people who are trying to help me.
Brandon: How is he helping you? I mean, the DiMeras don't let their own sit in jail. What's he doing for you?
Lexie: The only thing
that he can do. He's...
letting the truth
speak for itself, okay?
Brandon: So in the meantime, you -- you sit here.
Lexie: Well, yeah, and it's okay. Look, um... I know that -- that Sami thinks that I kidnapped her aunt, and she can't be too crazy about you spending all this time with me, and I really don't want to hurt anyone anymore.
Brandon: Hey.
Lexie: No, I mean it. You fought with her about me, didn't you?
Brandon: How did you --
Lexie: I know you, Brandon, and I know Sami. I've so much guilt over all the pain and suffering that I've caused. Please do not make me responsible for any more.
Brandon: You're not. Lexie, what's going on?
Lexie: Nothing.
I-I just want you to be happy.
Brandon: I want the same for you.
Lexie: I know you do. And I also know that you don't trust Tony, and you don't want to leave me alone with him, but, Brandon, my brother loves me. He's my family. It's time for him to take care of me now.
Brandon: Sitting and -- and waiting for something to happen? That doesn't sound like Tony DiMera.
Lexie: He knows
what he's doing,
believe me.
Uh, so...
don't -- hey.
Don't feel guilty, okay?
I want you to go away with Sami.
Now, um, if you don't mind,
I need to get some rest, okay?
Lexie: Guard? Um... my friend wants to leave now.
Lexie: You take care of yourself... please.
Brandon: You too.
Lexie: [Giggles] Bye.
Brandon: Bye.
Roman: You know what, Billie?
You might be right.
An extra pair of ears and eyes
is never going to hurt,
and we need all the help
we can get here,
and after all,
you are the only person
who's turned up any solid leads
so far.
Obviously, your instincts
are good at this.
See, I'll tell you what --
you tell me something here,
okay?
What do your instincts say
about these neon lights
flashing Lexie's guilt?
I mean, don't you think
that maybe that might be
just a little too neat and tidy?
Billie: Maybe. Oh, thanks. Thanks so much for understanding, Roman. I need to do this.
Roman: Yeah.
Billie: We need to do this. I mean, we need to find Hope. Listen, I-I better get back on patrol.
Roman: That's a good thought.
Billie: Yeah. I'll be in touch.
Billie: Oh, God, I hate this so much.
Marlena: John.
John: Come in.
[Door buzzes]
Marlena: Honey, I'm sorry. I wasn't try-- Shane! Oh.
Shane: Marlena.
Marlena: Oh, oh, my. I didn't know you were in town.
Shane: I just got in.
Marlena: You're here
about Hope, aren't you
John: Actually, I contacted Shane to do some reconnaissance on these islands that I'm flying into in case there's a connection with Hope.
[Device beeps]
Shane: Oh, excuse me. That's me.
Marlena: What is it?
Shane: It's, uh... it's about Hope.
John: New evidence?
Shane: I'm afraid so. It appears she may really be dead.
Victor: You're dismissed.
Toby: Well, from my job?
Victor: That, too.
Nicole: Toby, look, don't --
don't go anywhere, okay?
Look, Victor,
when you hear this --
and believe me, you are going
to want to hear this --
Victor: Nicole --
Toby: I-I'm sorry. I'm confused, and --
Nicole: Enlightenment will come.
Victor: What are you confused about?
Toby: Look, I met Nicole the other night on Halloween at the Cheatin' Heart. She was dancing on the bar.
Nicole: She was wearing a mask.
Toby: But -- but, see, she was shorter, and, well, built differently, and her voice was different. She gave me a business card with Nicole Walker's name on it, so if this is Nicole Walker, then who was that other gal?
Nicole: Ooh, wild guess.
Victor: Earlier at the grill, you kissed this gal. Why?
Toby: Ha ha.
Um, well, I-I was just so happy
to find her again --
it took a second to realize
it was her See -- see, the other girl
had more curves.
She was a little bit more --
Nicole: Thank you. Thank you, Toby. That's -- that's good. Thanks.
Toby: I-I'm sorry, sir. I mean, I-I still have my job, I guess.
Nicole: So, which is more likely, that I would make up something so stupid, or that Sami would do something so stupid? You're not going to let her win, are you?
[Cellular phone rings]
[Ring]
[Ring]
Sami: Hello?
Brandon: Samantha, I have to talk to you.
Sami: Mm-hmm.
Brandon: It's important. Are you still at .Com?
Sami: Yeah.
Brandon: Okay,
could you hang tight?
I'll be right there.
Sami: Sure. Okay, bye. Maybe he's changed his mind about the trip, and if not, I will have to change it for him.
Kate: Damn you, Sami. What am I supposed to do now?
Roman: Kate. You okay?
Kate: Uh, yeah, I'm fine. How are you? Any news about Hope?
Roman: Well, not good.
Kate: I'm sorry -- sorry about that.
Roman: You know, it occurred to me, Kate, that, uh, you might be able to help us out.
Kate: Me? How?
Roman: Well,
assuming that the DiMeras
are behind this kidnapping,
got me thinking that, uh...
about that secret connection
that you've got with Stefano,
and, uh, also made me think that
maybe you got some information
that could give us a lead.
Rolf: You are in charge. I will be quiet.
Tony: There are times I don't want you to be quiet -- I just want answers, and then you're the sphinx. My father is dead. Stefano is dead. Your total loyalty is to me.
Rolf: I understand that. You were his first priority, too.
Tony: Oh, of course. He sent you to all corners of the earth to find a cure for my fatal disease. What you haven't answered yet is why things went so awry.
Rolf: But you are cured. Look, I understand your concern about the fugue states, but these were not an expected side effect. Until you submit to a complete physical --
Tony: Look, I don't have time
for that, do you understand?!
I have more pressing matters.
Rolf: You are a busy man with important things to attend to. I realize that.
Tony: Rolf, listen to me. I intend to save Alexandra, and if Abe or anyone gets in my way, they're as good as dead.
John: Well,
if someone wanted to kill Hope,
if they wanted to get rid
of her body without a trace --
the point, one would assume,
of breaking into a crematorium
and incinerating the remains --
they left quite a trail.
So our crafty criminal
gets Hope to write Bo a letter,
a goodbye letter,
and then dumps
her bloody sweater in a dumpster
where it's easily found
by a rookie cop Billie Reed
who has no affiliation
with this case whatsoever.
Then he breaks
into a local crematorium
and leaves a tidy pile of ashes.
Now, if the point
were to convince us absolutely
that Hope was dead,
wouldn't a body
have been much more effective?
Shane: Exactly.
Marlena: So you don't believe the evidence.
Shane: Well, influenced, perhaps, by the fact that we don't want to believe it.
Marlena: But if the DNA analysis showed that the blood and hair on the sweater belonged to Hope, that must mean she was, at the very least, that she was -- she was hurt.
Shane: Well, yes, I'm afraid that's true.
John: Shane, listen.
That dumpster had to
have been dumped
at least once or twice
since Lexie was in jail,
so obviously, she didn't
put that sweater in there,
plus, she was in Salem
when Hope and Zack
were abducted in Iowa.
Now, assuming that she had
an accomplice, does it sound
like a DiMera to leave so much
physical evidence behind that
would link Lexie to the scene?
Shane: Only if that DiMera wants Lexie out of the way.
John: And why would Tony want that?
Shane: Well, maybe Tony doesn't. Maybe Tony's ignorant of the whole thing. I mean, there were no forensics linking him to the crime, were there?
John: Doc, you were called down to talk to Lexie to see if she would open up, so what do you think? Professional opinion -- could she do it? Could she kidnap Hope, hurt her, maybe even commit murder?
Marlena: I'd like to say no, but I-I just can't be sure.
Roman: So, Kate, doesn't that all make sense? What do you say about that?
[Cellular phone rings]
[Ring]
Kate: Excuse me.
Roman: Saved by the bell.
Look, I don't have time
to wait around, but I will talk
to you about this later.
[Ring]
Kate: Hello?
Victor: Kate?
Kate: Yes?
Victor: I need to see you in my office now.
Kate: Victor, you know, one of the benefits of being divorced is that I'm no longer at your beck and call.
Victor: If you know what's good for you, you'll take this meeting.
Kate: Oh. Oh -- what now?
Nicole: Do you want me to go?
Victor: No. You were right to insist that we clear this up right now. I'd like you to stay and see my surprise for Kate. Originally, it was meant as a surprise for you.
Nicole: I don't understand.
Victor: You will.
Nicole: Another surprise, huh? I am forever in suspense.
Victor: That's what life with me is all about, Nicole. I hope you're ready.
[Cellular phone rings]
[Ring]
Larry: What's going on?
Billie: There might be too much evidence against Lexie.
Larry: What do you mean?
Billie: Well, I think Roman is starting to believe she may have been framed.
Larry: All right. Thanks for the update.
Billie: So, what do we do now?
Tony: Hey. I know I told you to play ill, but you don't look very well.
Lexie: I'm so nervous.
Tony: Don't be.
Everything is in place...
for your escape.
Shane: All right, well, I got to go touch base with Bo. Uh, John, good luck with your trip. Marlena, it's good to see you again.
Marlena: You too. Now, you're not leaving for good, are you?
Shane: Oh, no. No, no, no. I'll, uh, I'll be around.
Marlena: Okay.
John: Shane.
Marlena: I'm not saying goodbye to you, either.
John: Of course not. I'll be back from the island before you know it. Don't worry.
Marlena: No, no, I meant
I'm not saying goodbye to you
because I'm not letting you
out of my sight.
I know we talked about this,
but it really is my decision,
not yours.
You're not going on the trip
alone.
I'm going with you.
Nicole: Oh. Hello.
Kate: What?
Victor: You can tell Lucas that, as of today, his divorce from Nicole is final.
Kate: Oh. Good. Good for him.
Victor: Bad for you. You remember your little trick-or-treat surprise -- the Nicole impersonator at the Cheatin' Heart? Well, I promise, it's going to come back to bite you.
Kate: Oh... I don't even know what you're talking about, Victor.
Victor: To think I thought you were an intelligent woman at one time. Don't you think it's about time you got a life?
Kate: You know, it's so funny
you should say that,
because if you would let me --
if you weren't so intent
on remaining entangled
in my life,
I wouldn't even be here!
Or have you forgotten
you were the one who called me?
Victor: Pass along the message to your compadre.
Nicole: Yeah. Sami the slut.
Kate: Oh. I can't believe you'd talk that way about your future sister-in-law.
Nicole: The only wedding happening around here is mine.
Kate: Oh, well, believe me, that's nothing to gloat about. Of course, you're going to be finding that out soon enough.
Victor: You'd do best to stop talking now, Kate.
Nicole: You have no idea how happy I'm going to be on my wedding day or how unhappy you're going to be. And wait until you see what Victor gives me as my wedding present.
Victor: Shall we go home
and celebrate our good news?
Nicole: Yes. Let's.
Sami: Hi.
Brandon: Hi.
Sami: So, what's up? Change your mind?
Brandon: Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Lexie wants me to go away with you. In fact, she practically insisted.
Sami: Wow. And there's something wrong with that because...
Brandon: Something's fishy.
Sami: Because she hates me.
Brandon: Look, I think her brother wants me out of the way, and I'm worried that he's going to get her into more trouble than she's already in.
Sami: Brandon, she doesn't
want you to be there.
I mean, if you ask me,
it's pretty simple.
I don't want to...
give you an ultimatum,
all right?
Usually it's someone
giving me one, but...
if you choose right now
to put Lexie before me,
I don't think that
we can have a future.
Brandon, I want to be with you
more than anything,
but it's up to you.
You have to choose.
Larry: Look, I need to meet with you to discuss our next step in person. Where are you now?
Billie: Pier 12.
Larry: Good, good. It's quite deserted down on that part of the pier.
Billie: I know. You don't want to be seen.
Larry: Yeah. Uh, I'll see you shortly.
Tony: Oh... you're trembling.
Lexie: I'm sorry. I can't help it.
Tony: Have you done everything I told you to do?
Brandon: Samantha, you know I want to go away with you. It's just I don't understand why it has to be right now. I mean, you wanted to postpone, I understood.
Sami: It's not about
when we go away, Brandon.
Don't you understand?
I don't want to feel like
Lexie is more important to you
than I am.
I feel like
you're pushing me away, and...
Brandon: Hey, I'm not pushing you away. All right, I, uh, I want you right here.
Sami: Then come with me. Be with me.
Brandon: I will.
Sami: I think we should pack.
Brandon: All right.
[Cellular phone rings]
[Ring]
[Ring]
Sami: What?
Kate: Mayday!
Sami: That is not my problem, remember? I am going away with the man of my dreams. Don't call back.
Brandon: Well, I hope that wasn't work.
Sami: The only job I have
right now is to make you happy,
and I'm going to do
exactly that.
And I love you so much, Brandon.
Brandon: Let's go.
Lexie: I've done everything you asked.
Tony: Then nothing can go wrong.
Lexie: Oh...
Tony: Are you all right?
Lexie: Yeah, yeah. I'm fine.
Tony: Of course you are. Just be patient, and soon, oh, you're going to be free.
John: Doc, you're right. We do make decisions together, and I thought we had decided that you were going to stay here. Now, I understand why you want to go, and I wish to God you could, but, honey, if something were to happen to you -- I mean, are you asking me --
Marlena: What if something
happens to you?
John: It won't, it won't. Now, I'm not just saying that. This isn't some sexist macho thing. As Stefano's mercenary, as a cop, I'm trained for this kind of an operation. I want to get in, I want to get out, I want to get home to you, and that's why I have to leave right now.
Marlena: I know.
John: I love you
Marlena: I love you.
John: I'll see you real soon, I promise.
Marlena: I'll see you sooner than you think.
