Days of Our Lives Transcript Tuesday 10/1/02

By Amanda

Victor: All packed?

Nicole: One last look.

Victor: I thought we'd stop by your apartment on the way home, pick up a few of your things.

Nicole: I thought -- I assumed I was going back to my place to stay, I mean.

Victor: You shouldn't be alone, Nicole. You need someone to help you, help you recuperate -- you know, a maid, a cook, your own personal nurse, someone to see to your every need.

Nicole: Sounds wonderful.

Victor: I'll be back in a few minutes.

Kate: You're going to need a lot more than a personal nurse when I get through with you.

Harold: Jack, hey. So, what did you think about that material I sent over?

Jack: Shh. Ahem, the anonymous source checked out to be a gold mine. Well done, Harold. Well done.

Harold: Well, what about you? Have you had any luck?

Jack: I spoke with an orderly who confirmed seeing a young man and woman

Harold: Terrific. And Jennifer’s waiting to speak to Dr. Wesley, and she's got a line on this agent spector. We're this close, jack!

This close!

Jack: All the more reason to stay one step ahead of everybody else.

Harold: So, what's the next move?

Jack: Well, remember that little item that showed up in the police blotter not too long ago about the teenagers and shoplifting, right? The same teenagers as the twins in the basement. I want you to go to Salem place and talk to the manager sniff around and see if you can find anything out.

Harold: Got it. I'll be in touch.

Sami: Yeah, yeah, all right, Mrs. Heberling. We'll see you next week.

Sami: Nicole walker.

Jack: Someone's in a good mood.

Sami: Jack. Hi. In the cafeteria tonight? Actually, things are finally going my way. Maybe life is fair, after all.

Jack: If life is fair, then you've got reason to worry.

Victor: Hello, son.

Philip: So, why did you want to see me? Do you want to take my car keys away, too?

Victor: I talked to the manager at .Com. The job's still available if you're interested.

Philip: What, are you kidding -- stocking shelves all day? Gee, maybe if I'm lucky, I can pull a 4-figure income.

Victor: She said she'd hold it open for another week.

Philip: I don't need your help, dad, okay? I've got everything under control.

Victor: So, where did you stay last night?

Philip: Salem U., The dorm. Yeah, it was great. I got no sleep at all, caused my friends problems... yeah, but no big surprise there. That's my trademark, right -- making a mess of things?

[Telephone rings]

Sami: Nurses' station. Yeah, yeah, no, definitely. Sorry, jack.

Jack: Ah, hold that thought, Sami, hold that thought.

Sami: No, no.

Jack: According to our mysterious source, this all started with those two, so...

Bo: Hey, you guys.

Shawn-d: Dad, hey, I was looking for you. We were trying to get in to see Cassie and rex...

Belle: But the security guy told us to see you.

Bo: You know what? Uh, let's go outside and talk. I feel like we are deliberately being kept in the dark. Take care of Cassie and rex so they wouldn't be exploited, so how could this happen? How can they end up on the front page of the "intruder"?

Belle: I mean it, Shawn. I want some answers. My dad's not letting me see the twins, and now I'm not allowed to talk to my mom. So how am I supposed to get my information -- the tabloids?

Bo: I know you're worried about your friends,

Belle: How can you be so sure?

Bo: Your dad asked me to help out, so I've been looking after them.

Shawn-d: Belle, see? I told you.

Belle: So we can see them, right?

Bo: No. Not just yet.

Bo: Security's been beefed up because of that "intruder" article.

Belle: I don't understand how this could happen.

Bo: Well, think about it for a second. Is it possible you could've said something to anyone that leaked it to the press?

Belle: I suppose I know my mom wouldn't want to hurt Cassie and rex, and my dad wouldn't risk his big government project by letting the press in on it. So who else can have a clue where the twins were except for us, Shawn?

Philip: Look, dad, if we're through here, can I go? Because I got things to do and lives to screw up.

Victor: Before you go, Philip, there's something you should know. I've asked Nicole to move back in with me. This time it's not negotiable.

Philip: I get it. I see what's going on here. I get the boot so you can make room for your mistress.

Victor: First of all, she's my fiancée and not my mistress. Secondly, my giving you the boot has absolutely nothing to do with Nicole.

Philip: Ha ha ha ha. Oh, right, I forgot. It was, uh, what, for my own good?

Victor: It was to keep you

Philip: You know, the more you threaten me, the more you push, you know, I was planning to register at Columbia next semester. But now, no. I'm thinking maybe I'll blow off college altogether.

Shawn-d: Us? You're not suggesting that I told anyone. Okay, how stupid do you think I am?

Bo: Hold on. You'd be amazed how easy it is for a secret like this to get out. That's all it takes.

Shawn-d: Well, it didn't come from me.

Belle: I didn't say it did.

Shawn-d: You said it was possible.

Belle: Anything's possible, right?

Bo: Hold on, hold on. What's going on with you guys?

Shawn-d: Ask belle.

Belle: I'm fine. Shawn's the one that's angry.

Shawn-d: Oh, yeah, and you're in a great mood.

Belle: I would be if you hadn't freaked out.

Shawn-d: I overreacted, okay? I admit it. I'm sorry. Have you never overreacted before?

Bo: What did you overreact about?

Shawn-d: Well, Philip spent last night in belle's dorm room.

Belle: Great. Thanks for broadcasting it to the whole world.

Shawn-d: Oh, yeah, because there's so many people out here on this balcony.

Belle: Shawn, I told you that nothing happened.

Shawn-d: I understand now. But what was I supposed to think when Philip answers your door in the morning in his boxers?

Belle: What was I supposed to do, let him sleep on the street?

Bo: Why would he sleep on the street?

Belle: His dad kicked him out. Can you believe that?

Bo: Why'd he kick him out?

Shawn-d: Because Philip decided to postpone college. That didn't sit too well with victor; so basically, he kicked him in the bricks.

Bo: Oh. Well, why didn't he stay with Kate?

Belle: Well, his mom won't take him in, either.

Bo: That's pretty rough.

Shawn-d: Dad, maybe Philip can stay with us. I mean, we do have that extra bedroom.

Philip: You just can't wait to get rid of me, can you, Shawn?

Jack: When I think back on our wacky weekend at the full moon b&b, how you were there for me and I for you... you know, nothing bonds two people like a life-and-death experience.

Sami: What do you want, jack?

Jack: Answers... about what's going on down in the basement. Obviously, the "intruder" had to have some kind of inside source, and I think you just might know who it was.

Kate: You know, whatever it is you did to steal those accounts from basic black, I don't think you're going to be able to keep that up once you're married to victor.

Nicole: Get out, Kate.

Kate: I mean, victor would do anything for titan, but I don't think that's going to include letting his wife sleep with the clients.

Nicole: I said leave. Get out, get out of my face. I'm tired of you standing in front of it!

Colin: What are you doing in here?

Kate: I just heard the great news about Nicole being released from the hospital today. I wanted to give her my best wishes. Now you take care, dear.

Nicole: Uh-huh. Well, you have to get out of here, because victor will be back any minute.

Colin: This is important.

Nicole: Oh. Well, what is it? You're scaring me.

Colin: I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you.

Nicole: What? Tell me what? Just say it, damn it. Of you? I was talking to my dad about having you stay with us. What are you talking about?

Bo: Your friends here are trying to help you out.

Philip: I know. I'm sorry. It's just -- today hasn't been one of my better days.

Victor: Oh, there you are.

Philip: You know, I don't have anything else to say to you.

Belle: We were going to go, anyway.

Shawn-d: Yeah, I'll, uh, see you later?

Bo: Catch you later, yeah.

Victor: I assume you've heard about Philip’s living situation.

Bo: Yes, I did. Sorry things are so strained between the two of you.

Victor: Well, we'll get past it, once he gets his life together.

Bo: How is he dealing with your engagement to Nicole?

Victor: Not well. How about you?

Bo: Me?

Victor: Well, you get to congratulate me, Bo.

Bo: If she makes you happy, I'm all for it.

Victor: Well, thank you. I appreciate that. Excuse me.

Bo: Personally, I don't see how that woman could make anyone happy, for too long.

Jack: I'd just like to think that with your capacity for plotting and scheming -- and I mean that as a compliment -- that nothing escapes you around here. Surely you must've seen or heard something.

Sami: What, jack, you think my entire life revolves around this hospital? You can think again. I have more important things on my mind, especially now that Brandon and I are back together.

Jack: You got to be kidding. I mean, I mean, I thought that there was some, uh, insurmountable impediment to your forever happiness.

Sami: Well, there was -- Nicole walker. But I have managed to overcome that obstacle, and now I am free to devote all of my time and energy to Brandon.

Jack: Ah. Lucky guy.

Sami: Oh, my gosh. We're still at the first stage, you know, where everything is kind of new and exciting, a surprise around every corner. In fact, speaking of surprises, I have planned vacation. It's going to be perfect.

Jack: Lavish vacation on your salary, and how are you -- oh, wait, wait, I know what you can do. You can take him to the full moon b&B.

Sami: Ha ha. No way. Though, I can think of a few people I'd like to send there. Though victor is going to have to deal with his own real-life

Jack: And why do you say that?

Sami: Nicole walker. Ever since she came out of the coma, she's been acting like she escaped from a mental ward. Get a load of this -- yesterday, she lures me down to the morgue. She threatened to embalm me. She had the formaldehyde and everything.

Jack: You were in the morgue yesterday.

Sami: Hello? Jack, a woman tried to kill me. What does it matter where we were?

Jack: You were in the basement... money for a lavish vacation... it all adds up. It was you, wasn't it? You were the one who tipped the "intruder" about the space aliens.

Victor: What the hell are you doing in here?

Nicole: [Sobbing]

Victor: Answer me. Why are you here? You're not her doctor anymore.

Colin: I was called in to consult on Nicole’s case.

Victor: Why? She's being released. She's fine.

Colin: There's a complication from her surgery.

Victor: What are you talking about?

Colin: The bullet she took grazed one of her fallopian tubes. We were able to repair the damage. I assumed the scarring would be minimal as the wound healed.

Victor: But?

Colin: Well, the tests we ran this morning showed adhesions, unfortunately, she had previous damage to her other tube, which means that without intervention, it would be unlikely, if not impossible, for Nicole to conceive a child by natural means.

Victor: So you botched the surgery, is that what you're saying?

Colin: The surgery went extremely well. The damage we've seen here is -- it's consistent with some sort of physical strain. Any sense. She's been in bed rest for weeks.

Victor: Give us a moment, would you?

Colin: Of course. Oh, and, uh, you're not going anywhere. We're not releasing you yet. We need to keep an eye on you for another day or so.

Sami: Jack, I am telling you, it wasn't me. Why would I risk my job, my insurance, everything, for a couple of measly bucks?

Jack: I like your style, Sami, but you're a lousy liar.

Kate: What? Well, well, well, maybe there is some justice after all.

Jack: It's all too obvious, my dear. The fidgeting with the hair...

Sami: I am not fi-- I always do that. All right, you know what? Fine. You're right. It was me. I did it, you're right, pat yourself on the back, mystery solved.

Jack: Your secret's safe with me... on one condition.

Sami: What, that I give you my next born?

Jack: Ha ha ha. That you get me information.

Sami: As long as you swear not to use my name.

Jack: All right. Let's start at the very beginning. Tell me, where exactly were you and what did you see?

Sami: Well, I already told you I was in the morgue, right? After my run-in with Nicole, I was a little upset and disoriented, and I couldn't even find the elevator, and that is when it happened.

Jack: All right.

Shawn-d: "Space aliens invade Salem: Gemini twins kept prisoner in university hospital basement." Can you believe -- believe people read this stuff?

Belle: Where do you suppose they got their information?

Jack: So you're sure we covered it all?

Sami: Positive. I told you everything I know.

Jack: Well, do me a favor next time, Sami. Next time you want to talk to a reporter, make sure it's me, okay?

Sami: Definitely, jack.

Belle: Oh, my god, Sami. It was you. You were the one that leaked the story.

Jack: Sami didn't leak the story, belle. She knows less about what's going on in this hospital than I do, and I don't even work here. In fact, neither does she, as to actually define "work."

Sami: Look, belle, there has been a lot of media I have talked to a couple reporters, but they all get the same "no comment" from me. I mean, I really don't know anything. I mean, it's kind of funny, actually, if you think about it. Aliens in the basement -- here at the hospital? Ha ha ha ha.

Jack: You certainly seem upset about this, belle. Is there a reason for that?

Belle: Well, I am upset, okay? I'm upset about a lot of things.

Sami: Did you come here

Belle: Yeah, I did.

Sami: Well, you know in fact, she hasn't been around a lot lately. I was going to call her. We need to have lunch.

Belle: Yeah, mom's been really busy with work and stuff.

Shawn-d: Look, um, I need to get back to the dorm because I have a lot of studying I have to do.

Belle: I should go, too.

Sami: Bye.

Jack: Bye.

Sami: Way to go, jack. Blurting my secret out loud enough for belle to hear?

Jack: I covered for you, didn't I?

Sami: Yes, you did, and it's a good thing you did, too.

Jack: Actually, I think kid sister belle is the one who's really covering here.

Nicole: I never realized I wanted a family so badly until now. And now that I know it can't happen, I feel like I've lost a part of me... a part of you.

Victor: You haven't lost me, Nicole.

Nicole: If you've changed your mind, if you don't want to marry me, I don't want to be the reason that you can't have another child.

Victor: I want to marry you. I love you, Nicole.

Victor: Look at me. This wasn't your fault. You try and get some rest. I'll come back soon. I'll check on you.

Nicole: You're right, victor. This wasn't my fault. To blame someone, right, Sami?

Jack: Bo. Bo Brady -- just the man I want to see. Outside. Come here.

Bo: What's going on?

Jack: Just...look at this. Look at all these news vans down here. I mean, what is this all about? This story -- aliens roaming the bowels of the hospital. I mean, it sounds like some kind of cheesy sci-fi flick, doesn't it? I mean -- I mean, you know don't suppose that it could actually be true, do you?

Bo: Give it up, Deveraux.

Jack: Are you saying that it could be true?

Kate: Knock knock. I'm back.

Nicole: Get the hell out, Kate. God, don't you have a life? Nurse! Nurse!

Kate: Oh, oh, I wouldn't be so physical. You already damaged your plumbing. You wouldn't want to destroy it completely.

Nicole: Damn you, Kate. What did you do, steal my medical files? I'll sue you.

Kate: You're acting so distressed for a woman who doesn't have a maternal bone in her body.

Nicole: I want you to leave now. Now!

Kate: Ahh. You know, you haven't even thanked me for my flowers yet. If you keep fresh water in here and give them some plant food, they should last, oh, I'd say three or four days -- about as long as your relationship with victor.

Kate: Oh, I see. Victor doesn't know about your condition yet. Mm. Poor darling, because he loves children so much. But you know something? I think soon he'll see it's for the best, because a woman like you shouldn't be allowed near children, much less bear them.

Nicole: And what about you, Kate? You couldn't give victor a child, either. For god's sake, Vivian alamain carried Philip to full term for you. Hmm? Pity she didn't raise him. She would have done a much better job.

Kate: You leave my son out of this.

Nicole: The only reason victor wants another child is because you couldn't give him one he can be proud of. No surprise there, mnh-mnh. You don't have a winning record when it comes to your offspring, Kate.

[Gasps] Wait. I take that back. Austin turned out all right. Raise him.

Kate: Oh, I see. I see. Now you're taking cheap shots at my children. Terribly insecure.

Nicole: Mnh. Hardly. You see, I have this...

Kate: Oh.

Nicole: Victor pledged his love to me. He still intends to walk me down the aisle, so I win. Ha ha. I always win.

Kate: Oh, you think you've won. But once you're married to victor, well, then you'll see. You'll see the kind of prize you've really got.

Shawn-d: Enough about the twins, okay? I have to study anyway.

Belle: Don't let me stop you.

Philip: Ah, don't tell me. You guys aren't still mad at each other, are you? Come on, guys, don't do this. Look, it was my fault, okay? I shouldn't have imposed on belle last night, and I'm sorry. Well, say something, guys. Please. It's bad enough that I ruined things with Chloe. I'd hate to think that I screwed up your lives, too. And you don't want to waste all this energy fighting. Think how miserable you were when you were apart. You don't want to go there again, do you? Do you?

Belle: I know I don’t.

Shawn-d: Me neither.

Philip: So, what's the problem?

Belle: I'm sorry, Shawn.

Shawn-d: I'm sorry, belle.

Philip: I think the phrase is "kiss and make up."

Shawn-d: Come here.

Belle: Hey,

Philip: I got to find a place to crash tonight. A great hostess, but I don't want to be in the way.

Belle: Philip, you weren't in the way.

Philip: Are you kidding? Thanks, but I can't live in your dorm room forever. That secret stash of m&m's would disappear in no time.

Belle: I forgot you know where I keep my chocolate.

Philip: Look, in all honesty, I think it's time for me to straighten out my life, time for me to face my problems head on.

Belle: That is a very mature attitude, Philip.

Philip: Yeah... if I can only convince my parents of the same thing. But that's out of my control. I'm just glad I could help you guys.

Shawn-d: Hey, you know what? So are we.

Belle: Thanks for everything, Phil.

Philip: Hey, the last thing I'd ever want to do is cause problems for you.

Belle: You know, Phil, if you don't have any plans tomorrow, you should go with us to the football game. It's going to be fun.

Philip: Yeah, yeah, then the three of us can go to the dance together. I'm sure Shawn would really like that, wouldn't you?

Shawn-d: Yeah, yeah.

Cynthia: Nobody goes to the dance -- total geekfest. The best party is right here at the heartbreak house.

Philip: Heartbreak house?

Cynthia: Haven't you witnessed the recent heartbreak here at the Hartley house?

Cynthia: Well, I guess your two hearts are mended. I'm so happy for you. Here, have a cookie.

Belle: Yum. "Vote Cynthia." Oh, I get it -- for house heartbreaker.

Cynthia: Come on, it's not like I laced them with poison.

Philip: Mmm. It's good.

Belle: I hope you're not too disappointed when you don't win. I heard freshmen never get elected.

Cynthia: I guess we'll see about that, won't we?

Shawn-d: Okay, so don't we have to go study?

Belle: Yes, we do.

Dozer: She's not here, is she?

Cynthia: Who -- caprice? No, she's at class. The coast is clear.

Shawn-d: I hope you're not storing those in our room.

Dozer: Got a problem with it? Find another room. Hey, guys, got the beer.

Belle: Come on, Shawn, we can study in my room.

Shawn-d: Oh, yeah.

Kate: Oh, god, that woman makes me want to scream! Oh!

Jack: Go.

Kate: Jack. I'm sorry, I'll, um...

Jack: No, no, no, really, go ahead, go and scream if it'll help. Don't hold back on my account.

Kate: I don't know. I don't know why I let this woman get to me.

Jack: This woman being?

Kate: What's it to you?

Jack: To me? It's nothing, nothing to me, but if I knew the name, maybe I could lend some words of wisdom, not that I'm a wise person, you know. But you know what they say about even a clock that's stopped --

Kate: It's Nicole. It's Nicole.

Jack: Ah, yes, the charming Ms. Walker.

Kate: Ah, you know her.

Jack: Enough to dislike her intensely.

Kate: Well, who doesn't? Because she is one mean-spirited little bitch.

Jack: But how do you really feel?

Kate: You know the thing that really, really bothers me? I mean, why would victor want to marry her? I mean, it's not that I'm jealous. Trust me, the last thing in the world I would ever want to do is be back with victor kiriakis, but it galls me -- it really galls me that she's been making such a fool out of him. I mean, she's a gold digger. I mean, that she would like nothing better than for him to die so she -- she could inherit titan why am I even telling you this? You're not even remotely interested, are you? I can tell by that glazed look in your eye, and I'm telling you all my problems, in front of you.

Jack: No, no, no. Spill away, spill, spill, spill! It flatters me that you trust me so.

Kate: I don't trust you. I just want to vent, and you're here.

Jack: Oh, then I'm not flattered.

Kate: Did I mention to you -- did I mention to you that she made Lucas' life a living hell? And now she's making Philip’s father look like a damn fool. She is out to destroy my professional life. She's raiding all of my clients.

Jack: Well, surely you can relate to that, Kate. I mean, after all, ruthless is your middle name. Now, what do you mean by that -- and I stole the "spectator" out from under you?

Jack: Still gloating, are we?

Kate: Yeah, well, it's ancient history, and hopefully, you don't still hold a grudge.

Jack: No, no, I think of you as a friend, once removed.

Kate: Ah. I see. Why, because you're dating my daughter?

Jack: No. No, no, no, I'm not hardly even dating her. I haven't seen her since she started this detail with the mayor. It keeps her so busy, as you know. It's not exactly banker's hours.

Kate: No, no, but I'm relieved about it, because it keeps her out of the police station. It keeps her away from Bo Brady, although I'm afraid he is always going to have her heart. See? See, I did it again. I just blurted everything out right in front of you.

Jack: No, no, you sense an empathetic person, which is who I am. I also -- I also know what it means to worry about one's child.

Kate: Yes, but you and Jennifer can share your worries. I mean, I know you're not together anymore, but I assume you're still both involved with your daughter and you discuss your concerns for her together.

Jack: We do, we do. But still we are divorced. And no matter how hard Jennifer and I try to protect Abigail, it breaks her little heart that we're not together. And now that Jennifer and I are dating other people, well, Abigail is having a very hard time with that.

Kate: Just who is Jennifer dating?

Jack: Dr. Colin Murphy -- charmless, humorless, arrogant, untrustworthy... but other than that, perfect for her.

Kate: And you're just not the least bit jealous, are you?

Jack: I have my moments, I must admit, but it goes beyond that, way beyond that. In fact, speaking of Colin Murphy...

Jack: Campfire Casanova strikes again.

[Shutter clicks]

Jack: I get the feeling that the good doctor may be the source of some residual discord between victor and Nicole. So, Kate, if you'd like to help yourself, I suggest you find out something about that.

Bo: Well, hey, Colin. Can I talk to you for a second?

Colin: Sure.

Bo: You know, this "intruder" article put the hospital security system under a microscope, and as a result, we discovered a breach that we might not have otherwise noticed.

Colin: What kind of breach?

Bo: Well, sometime, somehow, there was a glitch in the system, and Tony dimera slipped into the lower levels of this hospital. We think it was an inside job.

Colin: And why should this concern me?

Bo: Well, you and Tony you might know something I didn’t.

Colin: Well, hold it right there. You don't think that I --

Bo: Could it be that my trusty cousin Colin is the hospital spy?

Colin: Perhaps the spy in this family isn't your cousin. Perhaps it's your niece... Samantha.

Colin: I'd keep my eye on that one if I were you. Excuse me.

[Thinking] And I intend to give Tony the same advice. Strength.

Shawn-d: Okay, here we go. Question number two -- are you ready? How did Madame Bovary’s romantic sentiment contribute to a lifetime of discontent and ruin?

Belle: I think the only romantic sentiment that I'm interested in is this.

Shawn-d: Well, I thought we came up here to study.

Belle: We did. But I think we need a little break.

Shawn-d: Yeah.

Cynthia: Thanks. Stop torturing yourself, Philip. Chloe's not worth it. You just need to move on. You know, I could've sworn we've had this conversation before. Oh, wait, we did back at my house. You remember that night, don't you, Phil? I would've helped you if you had let me.

Philip: I didn't want your help then, Cynthia, and I don't want it now.

Cynthia: Hey, dozer. I think our friend here could use a cold one.

Dozer: Yo, Phil heads up.

Philip: Ah. No thanks. It's just one beer.

Dozer: Yeah, man, don't be such a wuss.

Philip: Ah, what the hell.

Philip: Cheers.

Dozer: Cheers.

Bo: Hey, jack.

Jack: Yes, Bo, what can I do for you?

Bo: Forget about chasing aliens. Focus on the real issue.

Jack: And that would be?

Bo: Dr. Colin Murphy.

Jack: Uh-huh.

Bo: This isn't I don't want to see our conversation splashed across the front page of the "spectator."

Jack: In the strictest I assure you.

Colin: I think everything we suspect Murphy of is true. He's up to his eyeballs in a cover-up. He and Tony dimera -- they know a lot more than they're telling us.

Jack: And what do you want me to do? Uncover some inside information and get back to me as soon as you have something.

Jack: All right, consider it done.

Bo: All right, thanks. Oh, and, jack...

Jack: Mm-hmm.

Bo: Keep an eye on Sami.

Jack: Of course.

Bo: Thanks.

Jack: Hey, it's me. Uh, it's terrific. Everything is starting to make sense. No, this is it, Jennifer. We're going to run with this story.

Kate: I know that man better than anyone, Nicole. And he doesn't have any use for you anymore. Oh, no, victor kiriakis doesn't hold on to damaged goods.

Victor: I'm sorry, Nicole. So sorry.

Craig: So, we're back in ultimatum territory, are we?
