Days of Our Lives Transcript Tuesday 7/31/02--Canada; 8/1/02--USA

By Amanda

Philip: Chloe.

Chloe: Hey. What's all that?

Philip: Well, remember when I told you not to be sad because we have forever? Well, that's what's in these bags -- forever. One season at a time... starting with summer.

Isabella: What are you waiting for?

Brady: You. I've been waiting for you my whole life.

Isabella: That was before. It's all different now.

Brady: Mom, I'm trying to get the answers just like you said... the answers to save Chloe, get her a bone marrow transplant.

[Knock on door]

Brady: Pete.

Pete: You got it. The P.I. In the flesh.

Brady: I'm Brady Black.

Pete: Brady Black. Yeah, that's what it says on the bell downstairs.

Brady: Right. Well, listen, thanks for coming. I really appreciate it.

Pete: Okay, okay. When you called, you said you had some information about Chloe lane's biological father.

Brady: That's right.

Pete: All right, sport. Let's hear it. What have you got?

Nicole: So, it's too bad Sami works here... if that's what you want to call it.

Brandon: That's okay. I have no problem ignoring her.

Nicole: Well, she has no choice but to ignore you.

Brandon: She doesn't? What does that mean?

Sami: This is getting ridiculo. Now what? For the rest of my life, you're going to tell me who I can and can't spend time with? I don't think so!

Victor: Well, I hadn't thought that far ahead, but it sounds good. Right now, though, I'm just talking about Brandon walker. Don't look, don't touch. He's off-limits.

Sami: No way.

Nicole: Sami is such a prima donna. I mean, she thinks she can get people to do whatever she wants. I just hope she gives up on you, that's all.

Brandon: There's Lexie. I have to talk to her.

Nicole: Yeah, sure, fine. Don't mind me. Ha.

Brandon: Lexie, hey. What's going on? You okay?

Lexie: Oh, Brandon. I love you.

Colin: Tony. Where did it happen this time? Did you retain consciousness, or did you Black out?

Tony: I'm fine.

Colin: Your message said you needed my help. I am a doctor, y know. I was in the middle of rounds.

Tony: Of course you were. Now listen to me. I need to get the key back that john stole from me. It just happens to be the key to my past and my future. I tried to steal it back last night, but I was prevented.

Colin: If a DiMera couldn't get the key back, what do you expect a lowly DiMera to do?

Tony: Oh, don't be dense! Don't you understand they've got their guns trained on me? I'm under constant suspicion. You're not. You're perfectly positioned.

Colin: Positioned for what?

Tony: To get the key back... with whatever means necessary.

Marlena: The patient suffers from extreme paranoia --

[Gasps] Oh, I was just thinking about you.

John: No. You were working.

Marlena: No, no. I had my recorder on, so that I would be forced to concentrate. I was thinking about the last time that we were together. Think I need a shrink?

John: That's why I'm here.

Marlena: I'm not sure my office is the appropriate place for that --

John: I mean, I want you to dig deep into your feelings and tell me why you're terrified.

Marlena: Terrified? Of what?

John: Of this.

Sami: Victor, I don't get it, okay? You run a major corporation. Why do you care? Why are you wasting your time thinking about who I spend time with? I mean, why do you care if I see Brandon?

Victor: Don't worry your pretty blond head about why, Sami. Just do it! And don't look so sad. You'll find another musclebound young man to obsess over.

Nicole: Excuse me. I was here with Victor Kiriakis earlier. Have you seen him around?

Kate: Really, Nicole, you should hold on to Victor more tightly. He has a tendency to stray.

Nicole: Get a life, Kate. You know, you should try one of those internet dating services. You know, they take anybody.

Kate: I pity you when Victor finds out that you're just using him.

Sami: Oh, you conniving manipulative little --

Victor: No! My order about staying away from Brandon? Make that Brandon and Nicole.

Brandon: You... you what?

Lexie: Ha ha ha ha. Don't look so worried. I love the whole world today, everything and everyone in it, including you.

Brandon: Okay.

Lexie: I know -- I know it's a big change from the way I've been feeling and acting lately. I haven't had much to be happy about, but now that's all changed.

Brandon: Why? What happened?

Lexie: Well, it all started after the reading of my father's will that night. One of the things my father left me was a family crest. His instructions specifically said to embrace it. Brandon, there was a letter from my father hidden inside -- inside a secret compartment -- promising me that I would get everything I've been longing for -- all the things I've lost. Things like love, a child, a family...

Brandon: That is -- that's great, Lexie. That's great.

Lexie: Celebrate with me, okay? You're the one person who stood by me through this horrible year. You didn't turn against me for being a DiMera, and, really, I want to thank you. So, tell me, what can I do to thank you, huh? What, what, what, what, what?

[Giggles]

Colin: What is this, a royal command? Get the key yourself.

Tony: It has to be you, Colin.

Colin: Why?

Tony: Didn't you say you're on my side, that you would do anything you can to help me claim back my father's power as my own?

Colin: You played your hand beautifully since coming to Salem -- from the very first night. Don't blow it now by getting heavy-handed and threatening when you've been so friendly, such a model citizen. The locals are starting to relax around you. They've let down their guard. But you're not entirely home free yet, Tony. Give them more time to fall completely under your spell.

Tony: I need to get the key back.

Colin: You'll get it, but you just have to wait for the right time. What's that?

Tony: Cousin to a geiger counter. It's programmed to pick up a certain metallic substance -- the same substance the key's made of.

Colin: You going to go prospecting all over Salem?

Tony: I already have. I did a surprise visit to john's home last night, you see. The trouble is, it didn't pick up anything.

[Beeping]

Tony: It's here. The key is somewhere here in the hospital.

John: After Tony's surprise visit last night, you were all hot for me to give that key back until you grabbed it out of my hand. You should've seen your face when you were holding that thing. My God, you turned white. And as much as you wanted me to give it back, you were even hotter for me to never give it back. I want to know what changed your mind. Do you even know what has got you so afraid?

Marlena: It's not for myself. I'm not afraid for myself. It'S...

John: What?

Marlena: Someone else. I-I don't know who. I'm sorry. I know it sounds strange. I can't make any more sense of it than that.

[Beeping]

Tony: We're getting closer.

Colin: I feel just a bit silly.

Tony: Shh.

Sami: Hi, Tony. What are you two doing here? Hello, Colin, love.

Colin: Sami.

Sami: What's that?

Brady: I'm not just going to spill my information to you. I don't know enough about you yet. Coffee?

Pete: No. What's to know? The Wesleys hired me to find their daughter's biological father. You know, that's my most popular request these days -- Moes on a hunt for somebody's daddy. Once in a while, it's the mother, but usually, it's the dad. It's all about the money, isn't it?

Brady: No, not this time. This is about finding a bone marrow donor for Chloe. This is not a joke.

Pete: Did I say it was? Anyway, the information I have is confidential, and I'm certainly not going to spill it to you.

Brady: Oh, I can be trusted. I contacted you, Pete, 'cause I want to work with you. I can help. I can be your legs, your brain, whatever you need. Work with me, you'll get there that much faster.

Pete: Right. If you're that hot to help, why won't you just tell me what you know?

Brady: I see what you're doing. You don't have any leads, do you? Specifics, Pete, not speculation.

Pete: Yeah, nice try, kid. Nice try, but the fact is, you don't have a damn thing to give me, do you, huh? Do you? No, no, no. Instead, you waste my time. You make me drive over here to bohemian village. I'll tell you, I wouldn't live in a loft if you paid me.

Brady: Oh, please. What matters is finding a bone marrow donor for Chloe. Now, who cares who gets what information? The point is, I can help. My family can help. My father is John Black.

Pete: You damn punk. Do you think I give a damn who your father is?

Brady: Oh, you don't have anything at all, do you? This is about scamming a big payday out of the Wesleys. Well, let me tell you something. The truth is, you don't have a clue in hell where Chloe's biological father is, do you?

Pete: Get out of my way.

Brady: Damn it! Did you just see that? He's a fake. The big expert that the Wesleys hired -- I can't believe that Chloe's life is in his hands.

Isabella: If he can't find the answers, who can?

Brady: I don't know.

Isabella: Go to Chloe, be with her, and the answers will come.

Philip: Ah. Man, nothing like the sound of the waves hitting the shore, huh?

Chloe: Ha ha.

Philip: Digging your toes into the sand. Hey! Buddy, watch who you're splashing water on, huh? Are you okay?

Chloe: Great.

Philip: Hey, there's an outdoor concert coming up. You want to go with me? I'll bring a picnic. You have a dress with daisies on it, don't you?

Chloe: Yeah. Why?

Philip: Wear it. Then we'll go for a drive after e concert, look up at the stars. Then I'll take you home and give you a good night kiss on your front doorstep.

Chloe: Ooh. And then I'll say, "thank you, Philip. Thank you so much."

Philip: Are you really having a good time?

Chloe: Best summer of my life.

Philip: You know what's really amazing? It's summer. It's hot. You've got all this ice cream melting all over you...

Chloe: Ha ha ha.

Philip: And then all of a sudden... it's fall.

Chloe: Whoo! Ha ha ha.

Philip: And there's a nip in the air. You know what we're going to do?

Chloe: Oh, my gosh.

Philip: We're going to get a bunch of friends and go on a hayride when -- when all the leaves are bright orange and yellow and brilliant red, just like that dress you wore to the first last blast. And then we'll go for a horseback ride in the woods.

John: There's a story behind that key. Don't worry. I'll find out what it is so DiMera can't hurt anybody with it. You going to be okay if I leave?

Marlena: I've got my work to keep me distracted.

John: Mm-hmm.

Marlena: John, please... be careful.

John: Always am.

Marlena: Hey, wait.

Sami: What, is that some kind of new pager?

Tony: Hmm? Excuse me, what?

[Pager beeps]

Colin: Sorry, mate. Duty calls. I can meet you in the exam room when I'm done. That's the best I can do.

Sami: What, is Colin treating you now? Are you having spells again, Tony?

Tony: Oh, for heaven's sake, Sami, it's not something that would interest you.

Sami: You're keeping something from me. What's so secret?

Tony: For God's sake, it's a wireless communicator -- like a pager, but it's not. I really don't have time to go into all these details.

Marlena: I just -- just love you.

John: I love you, too... always. Always.

Marlena: John.

Marlena: I'll see you at home. Don't keep me waiting. Now walk away so I can look at you.

John: Oh.

Philip: Okay. Now we're on a mountaintop, looking out at all the trees below. There's all kinds of trees -- some are maple, some are birch, some are...

Chloe: Weeping willow. They're so pretty.

Philip: Yeah, weeping willow, sure. You know, and the air is thin up here 'cause we're up really high. Brr. It's starting to get cold, too.

Chloe: Ha ha ha.

Philip: But we don't feel it. You want to know why?

Chloe: Are you keeping me warm, by any chance?

Philip: Smart girl.

Chloe: Ha ha.

Philip: Keeping each other warm, because we're together and we're happy and we're alive.

Chloe: So alive.

Philip: That's the happy feeling I want you to hold onto, okay, Chloe? I want you to hold onto me.

[Door opens]

Brady: Philip, let her go!

Marlena: Amby, I'd like you to move Mr. Somers's appointment to Monday at 12:00, and then cancel the rest of the morning for me.

[Knock on door]

Kate: Don't fire your secretary. I ran into her in the hall, and she said you weren't with a client, so I barged right in. And I know it's unforgivable, I know it's really testing the bonds of friendship.

Marlena: Kate, you got to try decaf.

Kate: Ha ha. Maybe I need some medication. No, I'm only kidding. Actually, I'm perfectly straight. I don't need uppers to get through life, now, do I?

Marlena: Would you like a session?

Kate: Me?! No, no, of course not. Oh, God, no, I just -- yeah, I do, I do. I need to talk, if you don't mind, and I just don't think I can talk about this to a stranger.

Marlena: Come sit down.

Kate: Thank you.

Marlena: Make yourself comfortable.

Marlena: What's on your mind?

Kate: Stefano... ever since I was mentioned in his will.

Marlena: I wondered about that.

Kate: Oh, please. I'm sure everyone's wondering.

Marlena: Well, he bequeathed you a rather unusual item.

Kate: Yes -- a jar of kippers. I acted as if I didn't know what it meant, but I lied. I knew Stefano a long time ago.

Sami: What's your problem? You're always dragging me around places. If you're trying to be romantic, your style sucks. I'm going to have a bruise.

Tony: Oh, I'm so sorry. I just didn't feel like discussing my condition in some corridor.

Sami: Well, why not? This is a hospital. That's where you're supposed to discuss things.

Tony: Not for you and me, darling. We were outside mommy's office, or didn't you notice?

Sami: Well, yeah, so?

Tony: So? Did Marlena leave strict instructions for you not to hang out with big bad DiMera? What if she caught us together?

Sami: She's not going to ground me. I'm a grownup. And for a continental type, you sure are scared of a girl's mother. But never mind that. Forget about her. We have to concentrate on me. I need your help again.

Tony: Hmm. Ah -- with Brandon.

Sami: Yeah. Well, we had kind of a breakthrough the other night after Stefano’s will reading.

Tony: Well, did the plan work?

Sami: Yeah, for a while, and then Nicole walker decided that she doesn't want me to be around her brother, so she got Victor Kiriakis to threaten me.

Tony: In what way?

Sami: Well, I can't tell you that, but it's bad.

Tony: So my assigned task is to get miss walker off your back.

Sami: Could you?

Tony: Consider it done.

Sami: Tony, you're the best.

Tony: Well, I don't hear that very often.

Sami: Well, to me, you are the best.

Colin: Sami, love, I need to get back to Tony's exam.

Sami: Oh, well, we do want to keep him healthy, don't we, Colin, love?

Tony: Is she a handful?

Colin: I think I found out why your device went off -- john Black's in the hospital.

Tony: He must have it on him.

John: So... are you having secret meetings with Tony DiMera? We will return for the second half of "days of our lives" in just a moment.

Philip: Oh, my God. I can't believe this. Brady, chill out.

Brady: Chloe, I'm sorry. I was just worried about you. Philip, this is not me being a jealous idiot. She just got out of isolation. She can't have close contact with anyone.

Philip: You're right. It's my fault.

Chloe: No, it's not. Since I haven't been outside in a while, Philip brought me the four seasons. It was a wonderful thing to do, and it made me forget all the bad stuff.

Brady: Chloe, can I have a -- a minute alone with you, please?

Chloe: You don't mind, do you?

Philip: No, it's okay. I'll wait outside. We've had summer and fall. Winter's next.

Chloe: I'm looking forward to it.

Chloe: You're both being so good to me. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I will take it.

Brady: So, Chloe, I've been, uh, I've been trying

find ways to help you.

Chloe: You've done a lot already, Brady.

Brady: I want to do more, but I need you to help me -- work with me.

Chloe: I'm not sure what you mean.

Brady: That makes two of us. She told me that's what I have to do.

Chloe: Who told you?

Lexie: You can tell a lot about a man by looking around his office. You don't spend much time in here, do you?

Brandon: No, I don’t.

Lexie: Mm.

Brandon: My beat's the children's ward, whenever and wherever they need me. Look, I'm on call just a little while longer, and then, uh, and then we can go. Where do you want to celebrate?

Lexie: Someplace fabulous. Doesn't have to be expensive, just, I don't know, someplace where I can cut loose. Mm. You're not in the same happy place as I am, are you? Is it Abe? You and Abe -- you'd need a blowtorch to cut through that tension. It's always been that way between the two of you. Brandon, look at you. Just the mention of his name. What -- what is it, huh? It seems worse since Abe and I split up.

Brand: It isn't just about you.

Lexie: Okay. But it does involve a woman, right? Your mom. You're still furious with Abe for having an affair with your mom.

Brandon: Yeah, I'm still furious. I'll never forgive that bastard.

Lexie: Of course you won't, and I don't blame you.

John: Samantha, I told you to stay away from the guy. Why won't you listen?

Sami: Look, while I appreciate your concern, I'm going to do what I want.

John: No, you're doing what Tony wants, and you're too stubborn to see it.

Sami: He wants to be my friend. Is that so impossible to believe?

John: He's not friend material, and any fool can see that.

Colin: All right. You know that john has the key, but what good does it do you? Are you going to start stalking the man? He's fairly intimidating. I'd hire a bodyguard if I were you.

Tony: That's a thought. Mm. You have a cool head, Colin. I promise I'll think about your ideas, but I have no intention of tackling john Black unless it's absolutely necessary. What my plan is, is I'm going to tackle the problem from a different direction, one that john isn't expecting.

Colin: What do you mean?

Tony: I'm positioning Sami to help me get back the key.

Colin: [Whistles] Be sure not to get caught up in her web.

Tony: No, no, I've disarmed the wench by promising her to help her in her love, or romantic, dilemma.

Colin: Ha ha ha ha. And what is it you have to do, beat up her boyfriend?

Tony: Ha. No. She doesn't have a boyfriend, and that's where the problem lies, but you see, I won't be getting involved in this. It'll be you.

Colin: Me.

Tony: Yes, I hear you're familiar with... with a miss walker?

Colin: We were hot and heavy for a while, but it's off now.

Tony: Well, I need you to turn it back on... mate. Well, I trust there is no problem.

Nicole: Hmm, thank you.

Victor: It feels so satisfying to have the upper hand with Sami. The look on her face when she agreed not to see Brandon was priceless.

Nicole: Hmm, well, I'm glad someone's finally keeping her in line. My brother doesn't need a witch like that messing up his life. Now if you could get to work on Kate...

Victor: Oh, come on, Nicole. Surely you don't need me to help you take care of Kate. I mean, you don't want me to do that for you, do you?

Colin: It's a bit extreme. My conscience doesn't approve.

Tony: Well, tell your conscience to shove it. Once you put the plan into action --

Sami: Hi.

Tony: Oh, what are you doing here?

Sami: Well, I wanted to make sure my new friend Tony is in good health. Is he okay?

Tony: He's never been better.

Colin: Always believe the patient. Good day.

Tony: Oh, it's so sweet of you to worry about poor old Tony.

Sami: You're not old, Tony.

Tony: You make me feel so young, with a lot of energy to get your Brandon back.

Sami: Thank you so much.

Tony: Well, I hope that once you and Brandon are in each other's arms, that you'll think about possibly helping me, too.

Chloe: Brady, it's not a hard question.

Chloe: Who told you that you and I should work together?

Brady: My mother. This is -- this is kind of difficult for me to explain but ever since I found out you were sick, when I'm home alon something weird happens.

Chloe: You can tell me anything Brady.

Brady: I connect with her, with my mom -- her spirit, I guess you would say.

Chloe: What does that have to do with me?

Brady: Well, you know, my mom right after I was born.

Chloe: Yeah?

Brady: She was so young and beautiful, and my dad loved her so much. It was -- it was really unfair.

Chloe: Unfair, like with me?

Brady: What? No, Chloe --

Chloe: I was so happy. Why are you doing this?

Brady: I'm sorry. Ally, I-I'm just trying to tell you that my mother is still with me. She comes to me.

Chloe: Oh, I see, like you're hoping I'll do when I die.

Brady: No. No, chl-- let me finish, please. I'm trying to tell you that I think my mom can help you.

Chloe: Help me? How can she help me? What, would I run into her in the great beyond when I'm dead? How -- I don't want your mother's help. Don't talk to me about her! Just don't talk to me at all!

Philip: What's going on?

Chloe: Philip, help me!

Brady: Chloe, you misunderstood. This is very hard for me to say, and it just came out wrong.

Philip: Look, I don't know what happened, but you should probably go, Brady.

Philip: It's okay. Hey, now, it's okay. Everything is going to be okay. I promise.

Brandon: The last time we talked about Abe and my mother, you told me to get over it.

Lexie: That was just reflex. A good wife defends her husband. I'm not into the good wife thing anymore. I got tired of the hypocrisy. Abe was a stickler for the rules of marriage until they got in his way, and then he made up his own rules. He turned on his wife, gave up his own child... don't get my started. Anyway, it was good of you not to go after him when I asked you not to, but now I am officially releasing you from that promise, okay? Just don't be mad at me. I need you.

Brandon: I need you, too.

Lexie: You don't need me. Brandon walker can have anybody he wants.

Brandon: No, I'm serious, Lexie. And I've been -- I've been realizing it more and more. I need you in my life. I think I always will.

Kate: When I first knew Stefano, oh, God, I was young -- barely out of my teens -- and, you know how you feel then? You feeel lost and vulnerable and... and, in my case, desperate.

Marlena: And he took advantage of you.

Kate: Oh... sorry, I-I just really thought I could do this.

Marlena: Don't apologize. It takes some people a long time to get the courage to put their feelings into words.

Kate: Listen, um, please don't tell anyone about what I was going to talk about, even though I ended up not talking about it.

Marlena: Whatever you told me is confidential.

Kate: Thanks. And thanks for being so loyal through the twists and turns of my tabloid life.

Marlena: I've been there, too.

Kate: You sure have. Well, I'll be seeing you... I guess.

Marlena: Come by any time you want. Just drop in, call if you like. I'll make time for you.

Kate: Thanks. Hi, john.

John: Hey.

Marlena: Hi. Uh, Kate and i were just catching up. We'll do this again.

Kate: Okay, thank you.

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

Kate: Bye.

John: Bye. Is she okay?

Marlena: She's as okay as ever. Why did you come by? I'm not complaining, you understand.

John: I just saw Sam with Tony.

Marlena: I told him to stay away from her.

John: And I told her to stay away from him, so I guess neither one are listening.

Marlena: Oh, I'd ke to lock her in her room. Oh, yeah, she has her own apartment.

John: Don't worry about it. I'll handle it.

Marlena: I thought you said that she wouldn't listen to you.

John: Yeah, and my strategy of backing off Tony isn't working, either, so I will find something that will work, starting today.

Philip: Yeah, this will be good, in case it gets cold later. Okay, now close your eyes. All right, the snowflakes are falling, and they're cold and wet. Can you feel 'em?

Chloe: Be with me.

Philip: Are you sure? I don't want to be too close if it's not good for you.

Chloe: It's great for me.

Chloe: Pull up the throw.

Philip: It's getting kind of cold in here, yeah. It's very nice.

Brady: Hey, mom, it didn't work. I tried to tell Chloe, and it didn't work. Hello? Do you hear? Can you hear me?

Brady: I tried to tell her, mom. It didn't work. I tried to tell her about you, and she freaked out, started crying. It broke her heart, and now she hates me.

Isabella: Chloe doesn't hate you. She just wasn't ready to embrace you -- not yet.

Brady: What does that mean? I-I don't get it -- any of it. You say that -- that Chloe and i are supposed to work together, but no wonder I can't make her understand.

I don't understand. What is it exactly that she and I are supposed to do?

Isabella: You have to go on a journey together, one that will bring you home.

Brady: This is all very poetic and touching, but you know what? I've waited my entire life to see you and hear your voice, and right now it's just not working. So why don't you just leave me alone?

Isabella's voice: You have to go on a journey together, one that will bring you home.

Nicole: You know, the more I think about it, the more I like it. Taking care of Kate all by myself.

[Telephone rings]

[Ring]

Nicole: Ah-ah. Hello?

Colin: It's Colin.

Nicole: Yes.

Colin: I need to see you right away. It's about why I broke up with you so abruptly.

Nicole: I see.

Colin: You...can't talk.

Nicole: You are so smart.

Colin: Shall I name a place and a time? Will you be there?

Nicole: You bet.

Sami: Help you? How? What do you want me to do?

Tony: Well, I was just speaking in general terms. It's nothing specific. It's one friend talking to another, you know? I'll scratch your back, and you scratch mine. That sort of thing. Oh, Sami, you're the only person in this town who seems to be civil to me. I just thought if I needed a friend, that you'd be in my corner, so to speak.

Sami: Well, if you help me get Brandon back...

Tony: Oh, on my honor, I will.

Sami: Well, then that would definitely qualify you as my best friend, and I'll do anything for my friends. Listen, I have to get back to work. See you later.

Tony: Oh, Sami, when it comes time for you to pay me back, you'll have no choice.

Marlena: What are you going to do to Tony?

John: Get tough.

Tony: Oh, hello, john.

John: I know what you want, DiMera, and you're not going to get it.
