Days of Our Lives Transcript Tuesday 7/16/02

By Suzanne

abe: Yeah, yeah.

Lexie: What is this all about? The judge said i only have to see my probation officer, abe. You don't get to summon me at your whim.

Abe: You know, I may never have to summon you or see you again depending on your answers to my question.

Lexie: What are you talking about?

Abe: Well, you're so eager to drag everybody into court these days. You know, I can't help but wonder if you want to sue me next... For divorce.

Jennifer: Are you going somewhere? Jack, please don't.

Jack: Don't?

Jennifer: No. Look, what you said about colin -- i think that you're right. And I want to help you prove it. Come on, put this down. Come with me. Come on.

Jack: Wait a minute. You never think that i'm right.

Jennifer: Oh, that's not true. I mean, I think you're right when you're right. Like now, you're right.

Jack: Something happened.

Jennifer: Yes, something happened that made me think that all of your suspicions about colin might be justified.

Jack: So, when you said that you were going to help me --

jennifer: Jack, he wants me. And what colin murphy wants...

Jack: Colin murphy gets?

Nancy: A baby? You want us to have a --

craig: Why not, nancy? All right, so we were probably going to wait, but we always wanted more children.

Craig: Nancy, what is it? What's wrong?

Mimi: Hey, brady, should i put "sponsored by basic black"?

Brady: Yeah, yeah, "sponsored" is good.

Philip: Hey, don't forg about titan, meems.

Belle: It's good our dads put their whole rivalry thing on pause and joined forces.

Philip: Yeah, yeah, they're covering everything -- the blood collection, typing.

Brady: Yeah, since chloe's sick, I'm glad there's no competition getting in the way of helping her.

Philip: It won'T.

Shawn-d: Yeah, well, let's not forget that my grandmother is giving out coupons for her famous roast beef sandwich for everyone who gets tested.

Mimi: Hey, and they're all going to get free cookies, so we're going to have longer lines than "star wars," I'm telling you.

Belle: My mind is just going at warp speed trying to make sense of everything.

Shawn-d: How did you manage to get so much paint on yourself?

Belle: Well, when i tried to make myself stop worrying about chloe, i just -- I start thinking about those aliens.

Shawn-d: Okay, I thought we were going to take a break from thinking about that, remember?

Belle: Yeah, that's really easy, especially now that maggie and julie have both seen them.

Shawn-d: We don't know that.

Belle: Shawn, what two other young people would be running around salem place nearly naked? You know that is not a coincidence, and I just -- I can't stop thinking about those kids or whatever they were, especially when --

shawn-d: When what?

Belle: When everything we know could be about to change.

Shawn-d: Yeah, but it's not like we haven't had that feeling before in our lives, that things can't be familiar or be settled again. Just looking at you right now, it reminds me to have faith, as long as we have each other, that things can be right again.

Bo: Mom's meat loaf or lasagna. You got five seconds to make your choice. 5..4... Good choice. Yeah, I love you, too, fancy face. Like sands through the hourglass, so are

Abe: Lexie, listen to me.

Lexie: Or do you get some kind of thrill out of dragging me in here, abe, interrogating me about our marriage?

Abe: There is nothing that thrills me about what's going on between us.

Lexie: What do you want?

Abe: I want us to be honest with each other.

Lexie: Well, according to you, I'm not capable of that.

Abe: I don't trust you, lexie. That's true. And I admit, i felt that our marriage was over for a long time. But when you got in trouble, when your -- when your mental condition got worse, I realized i couldn't turn my back on you.

Lexie: It sure seemed like it was your back that i was looking at when you gave up our son.

Abe: I still love you, lexie. And I love that little boy. Whether I had his photo in front of me or not, I see his face in my mind wherever i go. I only realized there's only one person in the world -- one person in the world who knows how much i miss him and feels the way I do. That's you.

Nancy: It would take nine months for us to have a baby, and that's if I was able to conceive right away.

Craig: Right. So?

Nancy: So that's a long time for chloe to wait for a transplant. And...If you're thinking that we should do this, you must also be thinking that there's no other way to find a marrow match.

Craig: No, no, nancy, look, all I'm -- all i'm saying is that we should try -- we should try to do everything to maximize chloe's chances.

Nancy: Okay, let's say that i would get pregnant. Wouldn't we be putting him or her at danger, too?

Craig: No, no, there's no risk, sweetheart. Look, all the cells we need come from the blood in the baby's umbilical cord. There would be no risk, no pain to the baby at all. What? You still don't like the idea.

Nancy: No, it's not that. It's just that i'm -- I'm thinking of all the reasons that we put off having kids. First, because you wanted to get settled into your new job, but then chloe came along and we wanted her to get adjusted to us, and then -- craig, it's not that i don't want to have a child with you. Of course I do.

Craig: But?

Nancy: It's just that i'm worried about chloe and what she'll think. What if she thinks we're trying to replace her?

Craig: No. Chloe's way too smart for that, nancy. She'll know exactly why we're doing it. She'll know that she's irreplaceable. We'll only ever have one chloe.

Jennifer: Okay, from now on, I am taking over the investigation on colin murphy.

Jack: No. No, jennifer, no!

Jennifer: Yes! Yes, yes! I am the most qualified person for this job because i can rely on me, as opposed to you, mr. Quitter.

Jack: Oh, wait a minute. The only reason I was quitting was because I was not being supported, ms. Editor-in-chief. You were not allowing me to conduct a proper investigation, but now that you've come around to realize that I was right --

jennifer: You are so predictable.

Jack: Just tell me, what turned you around? Was is the murphy.Doc files --

jennifer: No, colin kidnapped me this afternoon, jack.

Jack: What?

Jennifer: He did. He kidnapped me, but i'm fine. I mean, I wasn't in any kind of danger. He brought me to this whole romantic getaway on the beach, and he made this campfire -- like the days in africa.

Jack: What kind of an asinine idea is that?

Jennifer: He tried to convince me and persuade me that i am the only woman that he has ever loved.

Jack: Phony, arrogant son of a --

jennifer: No, jack, but listen -- I know he did this just as a distraction.

Jack: From what?

Jennifer: Listen, i was at the hospital earlier, and I heard tony dimera and colin talking about working together. Now, they could've been talking about tony's illness, but it sounded to me like they were conspiring.

Jack: Did colin know that you overheard him?

Jennifer: Well, he may have suspected it, but, you know, when i didn't say anything, I think he had to convince himself that i was clueless. And then when he brought me on this whole nostalgia trip, I'm sure that he thought my heart would just melt.

Jack: Look, jennifer, I know that you want to believe that colin is a standup guy.

Jennifer: No. A good reporter does not project the end of the story onto the beginning, jack.

Jack: Still, you're vulnerable to him in a way that i wouldn't be.

Jennifer: No, colin is vulnerable to me in a way that he is not to you. That's why i should do this.

Jack: Look, you came in here offering me help. I am still on this story, right?

Jennifer: Yes, fine. But I'm still the boss.

Jack: Right. Copy that.

Jennifer: And assuming that you're not quitting --

jack: No, i'm not quitting. Most definitely not.

Jennifer: That's good. In fact, that's great. So right now we need to go. We need to be at the brady pub for the bone marrow drive.

Jack: You think that colin's going to be there? He is chloe's doctor, right?

Jennifer: Yes. Yeah, I guarantee he will show up at some point, and then we will be on to phase one.

Brady: All right, get your sodas.

Mimi: Oh, thank you.

Belle: Okay, back to work.

Mimi: What were you and shawn gabbing about -- more alien sightings?

Belle: Thanks for being sensitive, meems, and making a joke about it.

Philip: Oh, come on, belle, how can you expect us not to be curious? I mean, after what you and shawn told us before, that's --

belle: Philip, curious -- i don't mind. I just don't appreciate people making fun of us, that's all.

Brady: What is it, belle? Something else happened, didn't it?

Bo: According to your mom, you and belle are backing off on that whole alien thing.

Shawn-d: Oh, you don't have to worry -- it's hard taking it seriously. Aliens. I mean, just when someone says it, you automatically assume that they're nuts.

Bo: Yeah, well, i'm not assuming anything. You're a smart level-headed kid. Most of the time. I respect you. That's why it threw me.

Shawn-d: What are you talking about?

Bo: Well, what you saw the other night, or what you think you saw -- you gave a different story to the government inspectors than what you told me and your mom. So, what gives?

Philip: All right, guys, I'm going to get some more paint out of my car. I'll be back in a second.

Belle: Okay.

Philip: Billie?

shawn-d: You know what, dad? Belle and I were thinking about it after we had a chance to calm down from the meteor showers, and it turns out that you were right. It is a lovers' lane up there, and so belle and i probably just saw another couple that was almost naked and they were just as freaked out about the meteors coming down as we were, and so they ran.

Bo: That's not what you told agent spector.

Shawn-d: Yeah, because we were afraid he'd think that we were nuts. I mean, that's what people think when you tell 'em stuff like that. Hey, anyways, why is it such a hot topic? There hasn't been any other sightings, have there?

Bo: You haven't seen the "intruder"?

Shawn-d: No.

Bo: Salem's been invaded by one-eyed aliens with talking purple polka dots.

Shawn-d: You're kidding.

Bo: But no other reports of naked teenage aliens.

Shawn-d: Oh, well, that's a relief, now, isn't it? It turns out belle and i were original.

Philip: So, green mountain wasn't doing it for you, huh?

Billie: No, too quiet. I just had to get back.

Philip: You okay? You look a little upset.

Philip: Oh, yeah, I should've known. Big brother bo.

Billie: Oh, i was -- I was just going for a walk, and I, and i -- it's not easy seeing him.

Philip: Maybe coming back here wasn't such a good idea if you can't deal with the past.

Billie: No, i can, and I will. Just not tonight, okay?

Philip: Okay, yeah. You need a ride anywhere?

Billie: No, i'm fine. Go back inside with your friends.

Philip: All right.

Billie: Don't say anything, okay?

Philip: I told you i wouldn't.

Billie: Thanks. You're a pal.

Philip: I'll see you soon, all right?

Billie: Yeah.

Bo: Hey, philip. Who was that?

Kevin: Actually, we know less about the science of human relationships than we know about outer space.

Mimi: Don't let kevin's calm exterior fool you. He's petrified that aliens are going to take over the world and we'll all be doomed.

Belle: You can relax, kevin. Whatever it is that shawn and I did see, it seemed pretty harmless.

Mimi: Yeah, but what if they're just the first to arrive? Think about it. They could be out there right now, waiting for the mother ship to land.

Lexie: Do you remember when we took this picture, how you made all those funny faces to get isaac to smile for the camera?

Abe: Yeah. Of course I remember.

Lexie: Sometimes, i... I picture him crying, wondering where I am, why I abandoned him.

Abe: You didn't abandon him. He knows that.

Lexie: How, abe? He's too young to understand.

Abe: His heart knows. He felt our love. He still feels it.

Lexie: All I feel is pain.

Abe: You know, um, losing a child -- I hear how it tears couples apart. It's so sad and so wrong, considering that's a time where -- where people need each other the most. I know you're grieving, lexie. Not only for isaac, but for your father. You're hurt and you're confused and you want to shut everybody out... But you're my wife. You're still that caring passionate woman that i vowed to be with in good times and bad for my whole life. Lexie, i want to be there for you, but only if you want it to. So, uh, so, what do you say? Do you want to save our marriage?

Craig: They're all inside.

Jack: Hello.

Jennifer: Dr. Wesley, hi. Hello, mrs. Wesley.

Craig: How are you doing?

Jack: Good. Good.

Jennifer: I have been thinking about your daughter so much. How is she doing?

Craig: Well, she -- she's, uh, she's in isolation right now. The chemo bombed out her blood counts, but that was to be expected. Her spirits are good.

Nancy: And we both want to thank you for all the coverage that the "spectator" has given the bone marrow drive. It's meant so much.

Jennifer: Oh, we are so glad, really, especially -- I mean, we have felt so inspired to help because of our daughter.

Jack: Oh, yes, abigail -- you know, she had a whole bone marrow transplant when she was 11 months old.

Craig: Yes, yes, mrs. Horton told me that. The aplastic anemia -- right.

Jennifer: And she is healthier than ever.

Jack: Yes, we hope the same happens for chloe.

Philip: Are you -- are you spying on me, bo?

Bo: Uh, no, I'm just -- saw you say goodbye to somebody and you came back in a little flushed, forgetting the paint that you went out to get.

Philip: I'm okay. It's just someone asking about chloe -- someone from school. I guess got a little distracted.

Belle: Brady, are you okay?

Brady: She's so strong, belle. You know, I'm not saying that strong people can't get sick, it's just... Seeing her this way -- it's wrong. Everything is wrong.

Belle: But you know what's right? You and your feelings for chloe. I think you might feel better if you admit them to yourself and to her. I think it's time, brady.

Billie: Hi, it's me. Yeah. I'm right on schedule.

Once upon a time, we will return for the second half of "days of our lives" in just a moment.

Jack: You know, i'm starting to think that you're an alien the way you can contort your neck like that.

Jennifer: I thought that colin would be here by now.

Jack: Maybe it's all for the best. It gives you and me some time to...

Jennifer: What?

Jack: I know that you want information, but there's a right way to go about this.

Jennifer: All right, if colin is conspiring with the dimeras, then he is a threat to everyone i love, every single person in this room. And I know that I am the only one who can stop him.

Jack: Speak of the devil...

Craig: Thanks for showing up.

Colin: You're welcome. Hey, nancy.

Colin: Wow, it looks like everyone is pulling together to help chloe.

Craig: Yeah, yeah. What a turnout, huh?

Nancy: Craig and I are feeling very confident. We know chloe will get her transplant. There will be a match.

Belle: Brady, maybe you should start by telling me how you feel about chloe. Do you think you could at least do that?

Brady: Yeah. At first, I saw chloe as just a friend... A kid. And I liked her. I enjoyed pushing her buttons, helping her with her singing, and I always wanted her to concentrate on her future, her career. I never thought...

Belle: That you could fall in love with her? But you did. And the other day, when you said that you loved chloe, you meant that, didn't you?

Brady: Chloe does not need me to love her like that right now. She needs to concentrate all of her energy on getting well.

Belle: Brady --

brady: Belle, i'm going to love chloe right now as a friend -- nothing more.

Craig: What do you say we go home?

Nancy: But shouldn't we help put up posters?

Nancy: No. We have better things to do.

Craig: We can help chloe in a way no one else can. Shh...

Shawn-d: Hey.

Belle: So, was your dad grilling you before?

Shawn-d: Yeah, he was upset because we didn't tell the inspector what, yoknow, we told him and my mom and your folks. I explained why. He seemed okay with it.

Belle: Did he say if anything similar was reported?

Shawn-d: No, no, nothing. Nowhere. I checked the 'net. Nobody saw any naked teenage aliens. Apparently, we are in a very small minority.

Belle: Why can't I shake this feeling, shawn? I want so badly for them to be real.

[Dance]

[Knock on door]

man: I'm sorry, commander. I need one more chair.

Abe: Yeah, go ahead. Some class of graduates from the academy are here. They're having orientation tomorrow, so we're scrambling to find places for them.

Lexie: Hmm. As always.

Abe: Your graduation -- it seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?

Lexie: Oh, yeah. Everything was so simple then.

Abe: Right or wrong, guilty or innocent... Justice for all.

Lexie: Ahem. About our son, uh, I assume you've visited him. How's he doing?

Abe: Sweetie, the last time I saw him, he, uh, he said, "where's mama?"

Lexie: Bless him.

Abe: You know, I-I... I hope some day you will be able to spend some time with him, too. I-I'm sure that bo and hope would let you if you'd just --

lexie: If what? If i stay married to you and follow your orders, commander?

Colin: It's good to see family and friends working together. Hello, bo.

Bo: Colin.

Colin: Speaking of family, uncle shawn, do you have that item i left with you?

Shawn-d: Oh, yeah, waiting right here. There you go.

Colin: Thanks. Actually, it's for bo.

Bo: What's this?

Colin: Please wish zack a belated happy christening for me.

Bo: Hmm. Zack's christening cup. It's nice.

Colin: I sent it back to the engraver to have the error corrected. He got it right this time, didn't he?

Bo: Yeah. Thanks. It's above and beyond.

Mimi: This is a cute one of belle and shawn. Where should it go?

Belle: No, mimi, this is not about me and shawn. This is about chloe, and we don't use the pictures unless she's in them.

Mimi: Okay. Well, um, I say we go to the cafeteria at the hospital and set everything up for tomorrow.

Belle: That's a good idea.

Bo: Hey, you know what? Don't worry about the cleanup. We've hired a couple of aliens to do this.

Shawn-d: Ha ha. Funny, dad.

Bo: Go on. Go hang these up. You're doing a good thing here.

Shawn-d: All right.

Belle: Thanks, bo.

Bo: They look great. We'll see ya.

Belle: Bye.

Philip: Thank you.

Bo: Bye-bye. See ya.

Jack: Hey, bo.

Bo: Yeah.

Jack: I just thought you might like to know that jennifer's coming on to thinking that colin murphy might be bad news.

Bo: Really.

Jack: Mm-hmm. In fact, she wants to get involved. She's taken over my investigation.

Bo: No way, jack.

Jack: Well, at least colin trusts her, or he thinks she trusts him, which he knows is not the case with you or me.

Bo: I don't like it.

Jack: Well, you talk her out of it.

Bo: Well... We both know that's not going to happen. Once a horton woman sets her mind to something...

Jennifer: Uh, okay. Thank you. Your comments are really going to help me flesh out my article.

Colin: There are a whole lot of web sites, as well, of course, on bone marrow transplantation. I can tell you the best ones, if you'd like.

Jennifer: Oh, no, this is great. This is going to be fine. Thank you.

Colin: My pleasure.

Jennifer: I also want to thank you for this evening.

Colin: Have you had time to think about what I said?

Jennifer: No, i haven't. But I am going to, i promise.

Colin: I'm glad. Because, you know, nothing would make me happier than you and me together. I always felt it was meant to be. C

Lexie: Admit it, abe. You think that your way is always right. As long as i do what you say, everything is fine and dandy. But god forbid i ask you to follow my lead, just once. Then, it's "ooh, lock down, bar the doors, lexie is being irrational."

Abe: Are you talking about the lawsuit?

Lexie: You're damn right i'm talking about the lawsuit.

Abe: Well, I don't place blame where it doesn't belong. Now, you shouldn't have had cameron contact me.

Lexie: Cameron was doing her job, which is more than i can say for you.

Abe: So, what's that supposed to mean?

Lexie: Come on, abe, be a man. You've let everyone in salem make us look like fools.

Abe: So, is that your opinion or brandon's?

Lexie: Brandon has nothing to do with this.

Abe: Neither does the hospital! Now, if we look like fools, I'd check a little bit closer to home.

Lexie: Oh... Here we go.

Abe: We both know your father had those babies switched, whether you want to admit it or not.

Lexie: How is it that you and the bradys are still obsessed with blaming my father for everything that goes wrong in this town? You just can't let him rest in peace, can you?

Abe: Lexie, I know it hurts you to be reminded of what your father has done --

lexie: No, abe. What hurts is looking at a man who says he loves me and wants to help me grieve, but in reality is happy that my father is dead. Admit it. You're just thrilled, aren't you?

Craig: Hey. Some mint tea and some honey for my honey.

Nancy: Oh, thanks. Mmm.

Craig: How is it?

Nancy: Great. So, maybe I never tol-- no, I must've.

Craig: Told me what?

Nancy: That i wanted to be a doctor. A pediatrician, in fact. That was the plan.

Craig: No, you never did tell me that.

Nancy: Well, maybe I just didn't want to talk about it because it sort of made me a little sad to have given up on my dream.

Craig: Why would you -- why would you give up on that? Hmm?

Nancy: Because i mistakenly thought that i wasn't smart enough or that I'd have the stick-to-it-iveness to finish college then medical school. How I envy you. A doctor. Having all this knowledge about chloe's illness.

Craig: Yeah, well, knowledge doesn't necessarily give you the power, nancy -- doctor or no doctor. I still feel helpless sometimes.

Nancy: But we're not, craig. Sweetheart, you made me realize that we are not helpless at all.

Craig: You're something else.

Jack: Here, i'll, uh, grab a poster here.

Mimi: Hey, yeah, put these up somewhere.

Jack: Okay, great. I got them right here.

Jennifer: That looks good. Those are nice. Colin, are you rushing off anywhere?

Colin: No. I have a minute.

Jennifer: Good. You know, I thought about everything that you said, and I have an answer to your question. I do accept your apology.

Philip: Hey, chloe, did I wake you? Oh. Well, at least you're eating. That's good. Yeah. Okay, yeah, finish up, and then get some rest, okay? I love you.

Mimi: Was that chloe? Why didn't you let us talk to her?

Bo: You sure pop won't mind me stealing the last couple pieces of apple pie?

Caroline: Parents love making sacrifices for their children. This will make him really happy.

Bo: Yeah, right.

Caroline: Good night, sweetheart.

Bo: Good night, ma.

[Sharp noise]

bo: Hey, what are you doing?

Lexie: Amazing. You've always wanted me to be more like you -- abe carver, the model citizen. And yet, here you are, celebrating a man's death.

Abe: I'm not celebrating, lexie.

Lexie: You have no idea what i'm going through. My brother, who hardly knows me, understands. But you -- you're just pretending.

Abe: I know you loved your father.

Lexie: I still do!

Lexie: My father will always be a part of me... Just like my son.

Lexie: But you -- maybe you were right all along, abe. Maybe it is over.

Nancy: Sweetheart, could I say something a little unromantic right now?

Craig: Sure.

Nancy: Well, it's a little late in my cycle, so the odds that i would conceive right now are...

Craig: Do you want to stop?

Nancy: No. I just thought you should know.

Craig: Okay.

Nancy: There's something else i think you should know, too.

Craig: What?

Nancy: If, um, I do get pregnant sometime soon -- yes, the idea of us having a baby right now at this time in our lives -- it's because of chloe's illness, because we want to help her, but... Craig, I want to have a baby with you because I love you very, very much. Not only do I love you, but I need you.

Craig: And I need you, too, nancy. I need you, too.

Mimi: Is chloe okay?

Philip: Yeah.

Mimi: Are you?

Philip: Yeah. I hate this -- getting all emotional. It's like I'm feeling sorry for me, when it's chloe who's going through all of it.

Mimi: Hey, you're allowed to feel sad, philip.

Philip: It's weird, but especially lately, I almost feel like -- it sounds crazy.

Mimi: Just say it. What do you almost feel like?

Philip: Like chloe and i are one person. I remember my dad taught me the greek word for the one and only kind of love -- eros.

Mimi: That's pretty.

Philip: It's the kind of love where you're a part of each other -- almost the same being, like i said. So, every day, i try to close my eyes and concentrate as hard as i can, hoping that if we are that connected, I can make chloe healthy, just by thinking it. Hey, brady.

Brady: Hey, you know what? Don't worry about me over here. Chloe needs all of our love.

Belle: You're overcompensating. Higher, shawn. Fix it.

Shawn-d: Oh, okay. All right?

Belle: I'm sorry. I'm just -- I'm really stressed.

Shawn-d: Is that good?

Belle: Mm... Perfect, just like you.

Shawn-d: All right, well, now you're overcompensating.

Belle: Just wish we didn't have to do this at all. Why can't things go right just once?

Shawn-d: Well, some things have. You forgave me.

Belle: Yeah, but that shouldn't have had to happen in the first place. Sorry. I should learn to stop while I'm ahead.

Shawn-d: Yeah, well...

Jennifer: And you were so honest with me, so i think that it's my turn to be honest with you. I have never stopped being attracted to you, colin. And ever since you came back to salem, I tried to pretend otherwise, but... Okay, now I'm just really embarrassed.

Colin: Don't be. Shall we have dinner some time?

Jennifer: Yes. That would be fine, and then we'll just see what happens.

Bo: Hey, who's out there?

Shawn: Bo! Bo!

Bo: Pop! Pop, are you all right? What's going on?

Shawn: I was -- I was in the back room, and I heard -- i heard somebody break in the door.

Bo: A couple of kids -- they're gone.

Shawn: Oh, it's not a big deal. I mean, all they took was a half drunk bottle of wine. You must've spooked them a bunch before they could steal anything else.

Bo: Yeah.

Shawn: Kids. The more they change, the more they stay the same.

[Panting]

shawn: Look, I'll see you tomorrow, all right?

Bo: Okay, pop. Thanks for the pie.

Shawn: Oh, yeah.

Bo: Good night.

Shawn: Good night.

Billie: Tomorrow, bo, you and everyone else will know the truth.afternoon, I'm melony johnson..... In the nbc-13 newsroom... Newsroom... An emotional day
