(Missed beginning)
Bo: All right. I'll call you in a little while.
Hope: Be careful.
Bo: Mm-hmm.
Hope: Bo?
Bo: Yeah?
Hope: I just -- I just got the weirdest feeling about you. What was that all about?
Bo: Being a wife -- best one ever.
Craig: She's done. I'll take room 5. If you need me, get me on pager.
Colin: What's open?
Brenda: 3.
Man: Murph, I need you.
Philip: What? It can't be.
[Pager beeps]
Man: We got a 10-car pileup on Route 4.
Man #2: Oh, wow, we gotta roll.
Brenda: I saw your paperwork. Are you sure Jane Doe didn't have any I.D.?
Man: Not on her. Check her briefcase.
Brenda: What case?
Philip: Oh, my God, it is you!
Billie: Don't tell them who I am.
Philip: Why? If you're hurt, you need help!
Billie: I'm not, I'm not. You have to get me out of here. It's a matter of life and death.
Belle: Shawn -- Shawn, look. [Screaming]
Brady: Don't be afraid, okay?
Chloe: I could die.
Brady: I know.
Chloe: I thought you were so sure that I was going to beat this.
Brady: No, I am, I am. But... Nobody can beat everything forever. Sooner or later, we all go.
Chloe: But where? I mean, what will it be like?
Brady: I'm not sure. I think it's -- it's something we'll find out when we get there.
Chloe: But that's the hard part -- not knowing. I mean, how do you deal with that?
Brady: Well, I think that you hold on to what you do know. And what we know is what's happening now, here, in this moment. I mean, I know that I want to be here... With you. It just seems right -- being with you.
Chloe: It feels right to me, too -- you being here. I don't want tonight to end.
Brady: Neither do I.
Craig: Excuse me, Nurse?
Woman: Yes, Doctor?
Craig: I'll need...
Chloe: Oh, my God, that's Craig. You can't let him catch you in here after hours again. He's going to be furious. Go. You have to hide.
Colin: I need to order tests.
Billie: Tests? What do you mean, tests?
Colin: Don't worry. We'll take good care of you.
Philip: Hey, what are you doing? Get back on the gurney!
Billie: Philip, I'm fine!
Philip: Look, I heard them talking. They said you were in a car that hit a meteor crater.
Billie: I know, my luck.
Philip: They said you were out of it.
Billie: I'm faking it.
Philip: Why?
Billie: I don't want them asking me anything. I don't want anyone to know who I am.
Philip: I don't get why --
Billie: Listen, I don't have time to explain all this. Just stop asking me questions and help me. Now, I don't like playing the family card, especially since we hardly know each other, but I am your sister, and I need you now, so please help me.
Man: What about an AB.?
Colin: That, too, but a CAT. scan first.
Jennifer: Colin -- ahem --
Colin: I'm very busy, as you can see.
Jennifer: Well, hello to you, too.
Colin: Forgive me, but it's been some time since you've treated me with even common, basic courtesy.
Jennifer: I am here professionally, Colin.
Colin: You're here to use our person relationship for your paper. Otherwise, Jacko would be grilling me, wouldn't he?
Woman: This belongs to the lady -- the car accident victim.
Brenda: Okay, I'll see she gets it.
[Pager beeps]
Bo: Hey, Noah.
Noah: Hey, Bo.
Bo: I'm here about a Jane Doe who was in an accident. Apparently her car ran into a crater. You know who's treating her?
Colin: I am.
Bo: I need to see her.
Colin: Follow me.
Bo: What do you know so far?
Colin: She's a patient. If you want to know something, get her to tell you. I don't believe it.
Bo: What?
Colin: She's gone.
Belle: [Coughing]
Shawn-D: [Coughing]
Belle: Shawn, look at their bracelets.
Shawn-D: Belle, I want you to go.
Belle: Without you? No!
Shawn-D: We don't know who they are, okay?
Belle: Who? Shawn, try what. And what is that thing? What do we call it?
Shawn-D: It looks like a capsule.
Belle: A capsule? As in a space capsule from outer space. There -- I said it.
Shawn-D: I know.
Belle: God, Shawn, if that's what it is, then they are... From outer space.
Shawn-D: No, okay? No. It can't be.
Belle: Then what else are they?
Shawn-D: No, just --
[Explosions]
Shawn-D: Okay, get back.
Belle: Shawn, hurry! Shawn, be careful.
Shawn-D: I got her. I got her.
Belle: Shawn, please be careful.
Shawn-D: I got him. Belle, just say there.
[Wailing sound]
Shawn-D: Quick, get down!
[Explosion]
Shawn-D: It's okay. It's over.
Craig: How's it going?
Chloe: Okay. Better.
Craig: Yeah? Why are you still awake? Hmm?
Chloe: The meteor shower kept me up. Really weird, but cool.
Craig: Weird? You want to know weird? You should see -- everyone in the E.R. tonight has their own E.T. story. "Oh, I was abducted!" "I was blinded by their glow." "I had a close encounter with an alien girl who looked like --"
Craig: What?
Chloe: Nothing. Uh, who did the alien girl look like, um, and exactly how close was their encounter?
Craig: Extremely close, and she looked like Marge Simpson. Don't ask. Anyway, I'm afraid for my mental health if I -- if I don't wipe it out of my mental capacity A.S.A.P. A.S.A.P., A.S.A-- sweetie, I'm -- I'm joking.
Chloe: I know that.
Craig: Well, you look shocked.
Chloe: Um, can I have a glass of water, please?
Craig: Sure.
[Water pouring]
Craig: It's not bottled at the source -- whoops -- but it's tasty nonetheless.
Chloe: Thanks. Oh.
Craig: It's finally wearing off, huh?
Chloe: ?
Craig: The rush from watching the stars fall.
Chloe: Yeah, I'm suddenly feeling tired. I'll probably fall asleep now.
Craig: Okay, okay, well, if you don't, you have me paged, okay? I'm here for you, sweetheart. For any reason, okay?
Chloe: Thanks.
Craig: You're welcome.
Chloe: Good night, Craig.
Craig: Good night.
Chloe: Brady, he's gone. Brady? Br-- oh, my God. Are you okay? Did you break anything?
Brady: I don't know. One thing's for sure, though.
Chloe: What?
Brady: I'll never play the accordion again.
[Laughs] ooh. Ooh.
Chloe: Oh...
Bo: Not only is the Jane Doe missing, but so is her briefcase.
Colin: What briefcase?
Bo: The one my uniform delivered to your nurse.
Colin: We had over 100 patients here tonight.
Bo: I'm only interested in the one that got away.
Colin: Clearly, you blame me.
Bo: You're her doctor. You are to blame.
Jennifer: Bo, listen, you're way out of line right now, okay?
Bo: Excuse me?
Jennifer: Look, I know that you have your doubts about Colin, and maybe you should, personally, but professionally, he is one of the best doctors that I've ever known, and you know what that means coming from me.
Bo: I'm going to go ask around. Somebody must have seen something.
Colin: I'm assuming you want an exclusive.
Jennifer: Not if you think I'm using you, Colin.
Colin: Oh, I know you're using me. I don't especially care, though.
Jennifer: All right. So then you will talk to me, and only me, about this.
Colin: On one condition -- how about our past connection?
Jennifer: What about it?
Colin: I think it's still there in the present, here and now. I want you to admit it.
Shawn-D: Belle, come here, will you? Look.
Belle: It's gone.
Shawn-D: Yeah. Just vaporized.
Belle: It's like it wasn't even here.
Belle: Shawn. Look, the lights on their bracelets -- they're fading.
Shawn-D: What does it mean?
Belle: I don't know, but my guess is it's not good.
Shawn-D: Belle, don't! Don't -- don't -- don't touch him.
Belle: Why?
Shawn-D: Because we don't know what we're dealing with, okay? We need help.
[Static]
Belle: He's so cold. Shawn.
Shawn-D: Belle, did you -- I told you not to do that.
[Telephone rings]
Hope: Hello? Hello?
Shawn-D: Belle, would you please get away from him?
Belle: He's not breathing. He doesn't even have a pulse.
Shawn-D: Maybe they don't have a pulse, okay?
Belle: Maybe he's dying.
Hope: It was Shawn. Why'd he hang up?
Belle: The lights went out. Shawn, I need to help him.
Shawn-D: Belle, for God's sake, just --
Belle: It's the right thing to do. I know it is. Don't ask why. I just -- I know, okay?
Shawn-D: Okay. All right. How do you want to help him?
Belle: CPR, like we learned in health class. I'll do it for him, you do her, okay?
Shawn-D: Yeah.
[Telephone rings]
Craig: What do you mean, a patient is missing? Who's responsible, Brenda?
Bo: Apparently, no one. She just disappeared.
Craig: Fine. Look, you talk to your nurses. I'm going to question the rest of the staff. If I don't get any answers, someone's going to be sorry.
Jack: Bo.
Bo: Later, Jack.
Jack: Well, if you're looking for that mystery lady, I got a tip for you.
Bo: Yeah?
Jack: Take me with you.
Bo: If I don't, I don't get the tip, right? There is no tip, is there?
Jack: Of course there's a tip. Seventh race tomorrow, shady lady to win it all. I'm telling you.
Jennifer: Will you stop it?
Colin: "It" being...
Jennifer: Coming on to me whenever we meet.
Colin: You expect it. You want me to.
Jennifer: No.
Colin: So I'm something of a flirt. Is that a crime?
Jennifer: No.
Colin: Why are you so fond of that word? Can't you say yes once in a while?
Jennifer: Oh, you're just going to do it again, aren't you, Colin?
Colin: I know, but I'm not just flirting. There's more to it. There's more to us.
Jennifer: You know, Colin, you're right. You're right, there is more. There is a lot more.
[Knock on door]
[Knock on door]
Kate: All right! All right, I'm coming. Honey, what's wrong?
Philip: I'm not exactly sure, but --
Kate: What do you -- you're not exactly sure? Why are you out at this hour? What's going --
Billie: Surprise.
Kate: [Gasps]
Billie: What, no hello? No hug?
Kate: Honey, I'm sorry. Oh, my God. Oh, it's so good to see you.
Billie: You, too.
Kate: Come on in, both of you.
Billie: A hotel room, huh? Is this where you're living?
Kate: Uh... Well, is it really that bad?
Billie: No, no, no. It's not bad. It's just that the last time --
Kate: Trust me, no, I don't miss the mansion, not in the least. So why didn't you call and tell us that you were coming?
Philip: She didn't tell anyone. I found her at the hospital.
Kate: At the hospital? What -- what were you doing there?
Philip: She was in a car accident.
Billie: It was minor.
Kate: Oh, my God.
Philip: Now, the cops didn't think it was minor.
Kate: The police are involved?
Billie: You're making it sound much worse than it is, Philip.
Philip: What is worse than getting your car totaled by a meteor?
Kate: Okay, all right, listen, I want to know everything. I want to know absolutely everything, and I want to know it now, okay?
Philip: All right, she made me get her out of the hospital before the doctor could do tests, said it was a matter of life and death.
Kate: Whose?
Philip: Mom, it felt like I was breaking somebody out of jail. It was so wild.
Kate: I-I want to hear from your sister. I want to hear from your sister now.
Philip: All right, all right, that makes two of us.
Kate: Billie, why don't you tell us about it, from the beginning? Why you're here, why you're hiding, and what are you scared of?
Billie: I was homesick.
Kate: You can do better than that, Billie.
Billie: Look, you asked me why. I told you. I missed it here. I missed you.
Kate: What about work?
Billie: I'm on leave.
Philip: For how long?
Billie: Depends.
Kate: On what?
Billie: You would have made a great prosecutor, you know that? I mean, uh, I feel like the accused who's about to become the prisoner.
Kate: Now, that's a really interesting choice of words. Sounds like you feel guilty -- about what?
Billie: Nothing.
Philip: Well, why don't you want anybody to know you're here? Why hide?
Billie: Philip, there's some people in Salem who are slightly hard for me to face. Can you guess who that is, or do I have to spell it out in 10-foot letters?
Kate: Why didn't you just call and tell us that you were coming?
Billie: Because I wasn't. I was not coming tonight. I was going to Green Mountain tonight.
Philip: Why?
Billie: For some R and R. I wanted to feel great before I faced everyone here. I mean, I certainly didn't expect to crash into a meteor crater and be rushed to the hospital and have to face reporters who would plaster my picture all over every newspaper, not only in Salem, but all over the country. No, I wanted some downtime, not instant celebrity.
Philip: All right. Well, I'm still not clear on this whole life and death issue. What's -- what's up with that?
Billie: Okay, maybe I exaggerated that part.
Philip: Maybe exaggerated?
Billie: All right, Philip, I'm sorry. Come on, I owe you.
Philip: Aah, forget it, Billie, it's all right.
Billie: Come on. In all this nuttiness, we didn't get a proper hello.
Philip: You know what? I'm so glad you're back.
Billie: Famous last words.
Philip: If you stay long, maybe we can catch up on lost time.
Billie: I'd like that.
Kate: Oh -- Lucas.
Billie: What about Lucas?
Kate: He is leaving for Africa in the morning, so I know he's going to want to see you tonight.
Billie: Uh, Mother, no, no.
Craig: When a person becomes a patient here at University Hospital, they are entitled our full attention. So could someone here please tell me how it is that a Jane Doe managed to get up and walk out of here without anyone so much as noticing?
Brenda: Ahem.
Colin: Finally, we agree on something. So tell me, Jen -- exactly how would you describe what's going on between us?
Jennifer: It's a game, started by, controlled, and dedicated to the amusement of one person -- you.
Bo: Hey, Fancy Face, I got your page. What's up?
Hope: Bo, something has happened to Shawn. I just know it.
Shawn-D: H-hi.
Girl: Hi-heh.
Belle: [Screaming]
Boy: [Screaming]
Shawn-D: Easy, easy, easy! Hey, hey, hey! Easy, easy. What happened? What did he do? What happened? What happened?
Belle: He -- he touched my neck.
Shawn-D: Okay, all right.
Belle: I thought he was going to try and strangle me.
Shawn-D: Easy, easy, okay. Look at me. Okay. I'm going to call my dad, okay?
Belle: Okay.
Boy and Girl: Aah!
Belle: Shawn, we can't let them get away!
Shawn-D: All right, come on! Come on!
Brady: Mm.
Chloe: Better?
Brady: It's getting there.
Chloe: So you still think that you won't be able to play the accordion ever again?
Brady: No one should ever play the accordion again.
Chloe: Ha ha ha ha.
Brady: What?
Chloe: Today was the day that I was supposed to have my makeup audition for the master class at Juilliard.
Brady: Oh, man. Chloe, I'm sorry.
Chloe: I'm not. I've realized that I was investing way too much in becoming the best opera singer -- a star, and that doesn't really matter, not now. What's important is that I still love music. It makes me happy, feeds my soul. Okay, yuck, does that sound pretentious or what?
Brady: No, no, not at all. When I was a kid, I didn't realize that people wrote music. I thought it just came, it just appeared, that all the songs that ever were or all the songs that ever would be were already there... Just waiting their turn.
Brady: Yeah, I know, I was a pretty weird kid.
Chloe: No, maybe you were right. Maybe there are a million notes up there waiting, and maybe some of them are falling on us right now.
Brady: Oh, they are? I can hear it. Can you?
Chloe: Yeah. I hear it.
Colin: You're confusing me with your ex.
Jennifer: Oh, no, I don't think so. You see, Jack is not the player that you are. At least he has the honesty to admit his mistakes.
Colin: Ooh, when did his stock rebound?
Jennifer: You used Nicole to get to me. You got that room at the Green Mountain Lodge just so I would see the two you together. You tried to make me jealous, but you know what? It didn't work. It just showed me how devious you are and how ruthless you really are, Colin.
Colin: If it's a crime to want you, fine. I'm guilty. I admit it. You, on the other hand, refuse to admit your feelings.
Jennifer: That's because I don't have feelings for you.
Colin: Then why is your pulse getting fast? Why are you flushed? You want me, Jennifer, and when you're finally ready to admit it, come see me. I'll make you feel things you've never felt before. Promise.
Jack: Well, that killed some time.
Jennifer: You didn't find her?
Jack: No. So let's review. We have a patient on a gurney in a cubicle. The patient disappears. No one sees her go -- this possibly injured, apparently confused woman.
Jennifer: That's odd, very odd.
Jack: Precisely. It's almost as if she left by some unconventional means.
Jennifer: Do you think she's one of those special patients like the man who heard his dog talking?
Jack: Beam me up, Scotty. That's one explanation.
Jennifer: Oh, I wonder who our Jane Doe really is.
Kate: Why don't you want me to call Lucas?
Billie: Because he's going to Africa in the morning and he needs his rest.
Kate: Oh. Well, he needs to see his sister.
Billie: Well, he can see me when he gets back.
Kate: Ah. Well, he's going to be gone for the whole summer. How long are you planning on staying?
Billie: I'll let you know, but you don't need to drag him out of bed just to say hello.
Kate: Philip, I really think you need to go home. You need your rest, too.
Philip: Oh, you guys need some one-on-one. Okay, okay.
Billie: Philip, don't say anything, okay?
Philip: Oh, relax, relax. When it comes to my sisters, my new policy is don't ask, don't tell.
Billie: Good boy.
Philip: There's something I got to do. I'll see you guys, okay?
Kate: Bye, sweetie.
Billie: Bye.
[Door closes]
Kate: You're in trouble.
Kate: I'm going to help you, but you have to tell me everything. Tell me... Now.
Jennifer: Oh, Jack, this is hysterical.
Jack: Literally.
Jennifer: I don't want to make fun of people, but some of these stories are wild about this meteor shower. Heart palpitations, fainting spells, hives.
Jack: Get to the guy who thinks he knows where Mulder's sister really is.
Jennifer: You mean she's not with David Duchovny?
Jack: Not unless he's got a time-share in Baja.
Jennifer: All right, let's get serious here, okay? I want to print the E.R. stories along with the meteor's actual crashing on airport road causing the accident.
Jack: And how the driver was abducted by little green men.
Jennifer: No. We are the "Spectator," not the "Intruder." We do not stoop to that kind of thing.
Jack: Fine, fine, no stooping. She was abducted by tall green men.
Jennifer: Ha ha. Stop.
Jack: Sure.
Jennifer: Come on. Let's get out of here.
Jack: I'm right with you -- right behind you.
Colin: Just one more game, Jennifer -- and this time, I'm playing for keeps.
Craig: There's no sign of that patient anywhere in the hospital or on the grounds.
Colin: Well, it's a police problem now.
Craig: Yeah, it is.
Colin: I'm calling it a night.
Craig: Thanks, Colin.
Pete: Doctor.
Craig: Did you find something?
Pete: I got a lead on Chloe Lane's father. I think we found him.
Brady: Ha ha. All right, sleepyhead, concert's over. You can go to sleep.
Chloe: No, please. Don't go. I'm afraid that if I fall asleep alone, that I won't wake up again.
Bo: Did you try calling back?
Hope: Every five minutes. He doesn't answer his phone, and none of his friends know where he is, Bo.
Bo: What about Belle?
Hope: I called. She doesn't answer her phone, either.
Bo: Then they're obviously together. Did you call John?
Hope: I don't want to worry him. Bo, it's so late. He's in trouble. He has to be. I know it.
Shawn-D: Are you all right?
Belle: They run fast.
Shawn-D: Yeah. Yeah, but where?
Belle: Shawn.
Shawn-D: What?
Belle: Shawn, look. Why did they come back? What is it that they want?
Craig: What did you find?
Pete: Dr. Sikes's sister in New York City -- 242 Central Park West.
Craig: Oh, that's fantastic.
Pete: It's too late to call now, but as soon as --
Craig: No, no, no, no, no. Don't call her. I don't want you to scare her off. Look, I just want you on the next plane to New York City, and be at her door first thing in the morning, okay?
Pete: It'll cost you.
Craig: Look, this is my stepdaughter's life we're talking about. Money is no object. I will pay anything, okay? So just get this done. Get it done fast.
Billie: [Sighs] All right, all right, okay, I haven't... Told you everything.
Kate: You certainly haven't.
Billie: I have my reasons. I have good reasons, and I will explain everything in time.
Kate: How much time?
Billie: Not long... I hope.
Kate: Billie, I don't like this.
Billie: Listen, you and I, we've had our issues, but we've worked it out, and we have learned how to trust each other. I'm asking for your trust. Give me time, please.
Kate: I really don't have much choice, do I?
Billie: No, you don't. You won't tell anyone I'm back, right?
Kate: What do I have to do? Do I have to get a Bible? Do I have to swear on it?
Billie: What, you with a Bible? Who are you kidding?
Kate: You are staying here tonight.
Billie: Mom, I really just --
Kate: No, no, no. Otherwise, I'm going to take back everything I said about not telling.
Billie: Oh, so tough.
Kate: Not as tough as you. Where's your luggage?
Billie: I had it shipped to the lodge.
Kate: Okay, I'll get you something to sleep in.
Billie: It's me. I'm here -- just barely. Well, things didn't go exactly as planned, but I have everything under control.
Billie: Don't worry. Bo Brady won't know a thing until I'm ready.
Bo: Hey, easy, easy. You're overreacting.
Hope: What did I just say?
Bo: I know what you said.
Hope: Please never tell me I am overreacting about our children. Were those not my exact words?
Bo: Yes --
Hope: And did you not agree that you would never say that again to me?
Bo: That's what I -- unless I was sure you are overreacting, which you are.
Hope: Do you mean it?
Bo: Every cop in town is out there tonight. There's never been a safer time to be on the streets of Salem.
Hope: Then why doesn't he call, Bo?
Bo: He is with his girlfriend. They turned their phones off. I am sure they're fine. It's all good. He'll be home very soon. He will be.
Belle: Shawn! Shawn, look out, no!
