Provided By Stephanie Philip: This one doesn’t go in any category. It reminded me of you 'cause it’s beautiful. That’s all it means, and if it made you feel weird, then -- Chloe: No, Philip. It’s just that I'm surprised that you still manage to surprise me. Philip: You never stop surprising me. Belle: Chloe, if you want Philip, then throw that tape out. If you don’t want him, then watch it, and be haunted by what’s on it forever. Chloe: If I watch what’s on that video, will it be over for me and Philip? Will I ever want to see him again? Philip: Oh, she’s there. What if she’s already seen that video? If she did, I'll find some way to get her to forgive me. I have to. I cannot lose her. [Stone taps window] Belle: I really do wish you could take me away and close out the rest of the world like you said. Marlena: Don’t you worry about the rest of the world. You just take care of yourself. Belle: I don’t want to worry about what the other kids at school are going to say, but they're all going to be talking about this, Mom. Marlena: But not about you. Belle: About Shawn, and Jan being pregnant, and that’s the same thing. How could he do this to me? The whole time he said he loved me; he was sleeping with Jan Spears. Marlena: I don’t understand. Belle: Is there something wrong with me? Marlena: No, there is nothing wrong with you. Belle: Then why wouldn’t he want to be with me? Why would he hook up with Jan when we were on the island and we were so close? At least I thought we were. And now she’s having his baby, and... I'm alone. Greta: At least they're not yelling. Locked. What are Jennifer and Jack doing in there? Jennifer: We used to take showers all the time together when we were married, remember? Jack: How could I possibly forget? Jennifer: Well, the water’s warm. Why don’t you get undressed and come on in? Jack: Oh... oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. You are so beautiful. This is the image of you that I see every night in my mind before I fall asleep. I have been waiting so long. So long. Jennifer: Here you go. Soap up. Soap up. Go on. Jack: Later. Jack: You're not playing games with me, are you? Jennifer: I'm not the one who plays games. You're the one that plays games, remember, Jack? Jack: I am not playing games now. I love you, Jennifer rose. I always have. Married, divorced -- the love is there...always. Philip: Come on, Chloe. Come on, come on, come on. Chloe: Philip. Philip: Hi. Hi. Chloe: Why are you so dressed up? Philip: Come down and I'll tell you. Chloe: Uh, if you didn’t notice, there’s a storm coming. Philip: Invite me in then. Chloe: You're not exactly on the top 10 of my mother’s guest list. Philip: What about yours? Chloe: Come again? Philip: Did you, uh, or didn’t you, you know... Chloe: If you mean the video of you and Cynthia, no, I didn’t. Philip: [Sighs] Good. Toss it down. I'll get rid of it. Chloe: I can’t. I don’t have it. I left it at Belle’s. Philip: You left it? Chloe: Yeah, something happened, and I forgot. Philip: I don’t believe this. Chloe: Look, I'm having trouble hearing you. I'll be right down. Philip: Oh, my god, Belle cannot see that video. It’s gonna freak her out. Come on, Belle, pick up. Belle: Even if Shawn didn’t love me, I thought we were friends. How could he hurt me this way, Mom? Brady: Stupid son of a -- Belle: Brady! Marlena: Brady, how long have you been there? Brady: Long enough to know that Shawn is a damn fool. Who the hell does he think he is hurting my sister like this? She’s done nothing but stand by him, and this is how he pays her back? Marlena: Brady, calm down. Brady: I will not calm down! Shawn is going to deal with me on this one. Belle: Where are you going? Brady: Nobody hurts my sister and gets away with it. Belle: No, Brady, stop. You're only going to make things worse. Marlena: She’s right. No matter how angry you are, you can’t go after Shawn. Brady: No? What can I do? Brady: Belle, I'm so sorry. Belle: So blind. I mean, I knew something was going on between Shawn and Jan. I just never dreamt -- Brady: Of course you didn’t. Why would you? I ju-- I don’t get it. I mean, Shawn’s always acted like he’s never even seen any other girl but you. Is he on drugs or something? Belle: No. Shawn? No way. No. Marlena: Listen, Shawn has been through a very tough time lately. Maybe he’s acting out, or maybe he was drinking. Belle: He’s not even 18 yet, and he never drinks. Brady: Well, not legally, anyway. Belle: Look, Shawn saw what alcohol did to his little brother, and it freaked him out. I know who the kids are that drink, and Shawn is not one of them. There was even a guy on the island who had a flask, and Shawn wouldn’t touch it. He wanted nothing to do with it. Brady: You're sure about that? Belle: Yes. I was with him practically every minute we were on that island... except for one night when we couldn’t find him, and he was with Jan. Brady: Hey, Belle. Belle: You know, I thought he loved me. He gave me his class ring, and he said he loved me. I mean, wh-- what am I going to do without him? Marlena: You're going to take it one day at a time, one hour at a time. And if you feel like you want to cry or scream or be heard, we're right here. Belle: What about at school when I have to see Shawn and Jan? Brady: You know what you're going to do? You're going to hold your head up high, and you're going to walk away, because you don’t have to deal with Shawn Brady, and you know what? You sure as hell don’t have to deal with Jan. Belle: I didn’t know I could hurt so much. How long will it take me to forget about Shawn and get on with my life? Will I ever feel like I used to? Jennifer: Okay, Jack, moment of truth. Jack: I told you the truth. I love you. Jennifer: Mm. And what about Greta? Jack: Well, there’s no room in here for Greta. Jennifer: Don’t be cute. You're lying to us, Jack. You're ignoring us. You're playing games with us. Jack: I'm not playing games. Jennifer: Okay, whatever you say. Jennifer: Oh, there is something so relaxing about a shower. Jack: It’s having quite the opposite effect on me. Jennifer: Really? Jack: Really. Jack: That was no game. My loving you is no game. I know every little -- every curve of your body, the way your hair clings to your neck when you wake up in the morning, the small sigh in the back of your throat when you kiss, like... Jack: Why did you invite me into the shower with you? Is this your game? Are you trying to show me what I've lost? Are you trying to break my heart? Are you teasing? Are you trying to show me that you still love me? Jack: Jennifer, I meant what I said before. I meant it. I love you. You challenge and you excite me. You taught me what love is, the joy of being a parent. I look forward to the sound of the key in the lock because it’s you coming home. And I will not give up. I will wait forever if I have to -- forever. If you would just open your arms and welcome me -- welcome me back -- as your husband, your friend, your lover. Marlena: Now, you know the only way to stop hurting is to go through the pain. Don’t push it down or pretend that it’s not there. Brady: And remember, you're not alone. Like mom said, you can turn to us, reach out to us anytime. Belle: It’s hard to believe I'll ever feel okay again. Brady: Sure you will. You're one of the strongest people I know, Belle. Belle: It doesn’t seem like that right now. Marlena: Say, I had a professor in med school that I adored, and she had a theory about all this. She said that when you're feeling depressed, you need to move. Belle: Move? Brady: Like move out of town? Marlena: No, like move your body. You know, when you feel like curling up and hiding, just get up, get out, get moving. Get active, see your friends. I know that sounds simple, but it really works. Pretty soon you'll find the pain is not swallowing you up anymore, and you'll become your old self again. Brady: Yes, and you know what? You and I, we'll hang out. We can go to the movies, we can go bowling. Belle: So you can laugh every time I throw a gutter ball? Brady: All right, fine. Tennis, anyone? Belle: Brady, you are so sweet. Brady: Oh, Belle, please, anything but that. Marlena: I've got some news that I think will cheer you both up some. Belle: News? What news? Marlena: Caprice is coming to see us. Belle: Caprice? Our Caprice? Brady: How many Caprices do you know? Belle: Shut up, Brady. This is so exciting. I've been thinking about her so much lately. Marlena: Well, she’s been thinking about you, also. Actually, the entire family. Although I can’t imagine why she'd want to see you two after the way you treated her. Belle: Brady was the only difficult one, Mom. I did whatever caprice asked. Brady: Oh, give me a break. Who hid when it was bath time? You drove caprice crazy chasing you all over the house. Marlena: Well, now that you're both so much more mature, maybe you'll behave properly. Anyway, I've heard from her, and her elderly aunt died, and so now she’s free to leave Haiti and come here for a while. So I have invited her to stay with us until she finds her own apartment. Belle: This is so amazing. I can’t wait to see her. Marlena: I know. I can’t, either. She'll be like a breath of fresh air. Belle: All of my friends loved her. Philip probably remembers her, and I know Mimi does. She will be so excited. Chloe hasn’t met her, though. She'll be crazy about her. Brady: Um, by the way, does Chloe know about the Shawn situation? Belle: She is the only person that I've told. Brady: Well, Shawn’s going to have a lot of people angry at him when this gets out. Marlena: Like your dad. Brady: Ooh, I forgot about that. Thought my reaction was bad? Wait till dad hears and goes after Shawn. Belle: He won’t, will he? Marlena: Well, I don’t know about that, but he'll be very unhappy that somebody hurt his little girl. Belle: I was so stupid to think Shawn loved me, that what we had was forever. Marlena: There is nothing stupid about loving or trusting. Belle: But I almost made him my whole life. If it hadn’t been for you and Brady warning me, I would have. You made me see that it wasn’t real. Marlena: We're just sorry you got hurt. Belle: Hey, I'm glad that this happened before Shawn and I... got even closer. I see girls at school with their boyfriends, and it seems perfect, but then they make love, and the guy breaks up with them. Their whole lives fall apart because they believed what he said, that what they had was forever. Marlena: Your life is not going to fall apart. Belle: No, no, it’s not. Not because of Shawn Brady. I will not throw myself away because of a liar and a cheat. I hate him for what he’s done to me. I hate him. [Turns phone off] Philip: [Thinking] Damn it, her cell phone must be turned off. Just when I need her, Belle doesn’t answer. Maybe she won’t watch the video. I already told her Cynthia and I went further than Chloe knows -- just not how far. God, why did I go back to Cynthia’s that night?! It was the stupidest thing I could have done. Chloe: And she’s never going to let you live it down. Philip: As long as you're still speaking to me, I don’t care. Chloe: Well, it does bother me that everything you two did is on video. Philip: But it didn’t mean anything. I told you that. I only asked Cynthia out because I knew you and Brady were going to the movies. I was jealous. I was trying to get you out of my mind. Guys do stupid things. I do stupid things. But I only did it because I didn’t think you wanted anything to do with me. Chloe: I'm not responsible for what you did, and neither is Brady. Philip: I know. I'm not making excuses. There is no excuse. I just need you to understand why I don’t -- Chloe: Look, I just want you to be honest with me. That’s all I need. Was it the same with Cynthia as it was with us when we were alone in the stables? Philip: No, no, no, no. God, no. Chloe: Then why? Philip: When I was with Cynthia, I was -- it was like I was blotting everything out, you know? I had a couple of beers, we were at her house alone, and -- I should have walked out, but... I let things go too far. Chloe: You did it, didn’t you? You had sex with her. Philip: No, we didn’t. I would never lie to you about that. Cynthia means nothing to me. No one means anything to me but you, Chloe, which is why, if you trust me, and if you believe in me, you won’t watch that video. Greta: I hope you're not causing a flood in there. Jennifer: Jack. Jack, don’t stop, please. Jack: [Thinking] Oh, my God, she wants me. Jennifer: Jack, come on. Jack’s Voice: What are you doing, Jack boy? If you love her, you have to do the far, far better thing. Jennifer: What’s the matter? Are you okay? Jack: [Thinking] What could be better than this? Jennifer: Jack, are you all right? Jack: Huh? Oh, no, I-I can’t. I can’t. Jennifer: What? Jack: I -- Jennifer: Why? Jack? Jack: I can’t. It’s -- it’s wrong. It’s -- it’s all wrong. Jennifer: What do you mean? What -- Jack: I mean, I can’t. It’s all wrong. I can’t. Jennifer: You were playing games. You were playing games with me, Jack. Jack: No, no, no. I love you. I do. I -- I just -- oh, have a nice shower. Jennifer: Oh, my God. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh, what went wrong? What have I done? Jack: [Panting] Greta: Hey! Jack: [Gasps] Greta: Hey, for a guy who’s totally waterlogged, you're not even wrinkled. Jack: Oh, back off! Back, back, back, back, back! Greta: [Laughing] Chicken! But great buns on that chicken. Jack: [Panting] Oh, she definitely kissed me back. Did she ever, with every fiber of her gorgeous being. I could feel it! She still cares. I know she does. Oh, you have done it, Jack. You've done it! Jennifer is yours for the taking. Jennifer: I didn’t know that Jack could make me feel that way again. It was like the way it used to be. Except he stopped. Why did he stop? Jack, are you all right? Jack: Huh? Oh, no. I-I can’t. I can’t. Jennifer: What? Jennifer: What did he mean? What did he mean, he can’t? Greta: Look, Jennifer, short of sleeping with Jack, which somehow I gather you're not prepared to do, I don’t know how you're going to satisfy yourself that he’s not gay. Jennifer: Come on, Jack is not gay. There is no way. He isn’t. But then why -- why did he stop? Why didn’t he make love to me? Jack: [Sighs] Jennifer, my love... if you hadn’t gotten all tipsy on that wine, we'd be steaming up this bedroom the same way we did the shower. When we do make love -- and with any luck, that day will be soon -- I want you to have all your senses about you, to know you want me as much as I want you. Jennifer: I know that Jack wanted me. Oh, and I wanted him. Well, so much for trying to beat him at his own game. Boy, did that plan ever backfire. Okay. So now what do I do? Philip: Here. Chloe: Thank you. Philip: You say the word, I'll call Belle, and I'll have her get rid of that video. Chloe: Don’t call. Philip: What’s it going to take to get you to trust me again? Chloe: Belle said that if I cared, I should trust you and throw the video away. Philip: Can you? Chloe: What if I do and I'll always wonder what really happened between you and Cynthia? What if I can’t get past that? Philip: I'd give anything to go back and undo that whole night. You're the only girl I've ever wanted. You've got to believe that. Chloe: I want to, but things happen, even to couples who seem like they're meant to be together forever. When there’s lies and secrecy, it ruins everything. It’s better just to know the truth up front and deal with it. Philip: I-I kissed her, okay? You think I wanted you seeing me holding another girl, kissing her? If you did, then it wouldn’t matter what I said, because that’s what you'll always think about -- me and Cynthia, every time I touch you or kiss you, and it’s going to hurt you over and over again. If you never believe anything else, I want you to know that every time you and I kiss, it’s like the first time. When we were alone in your room, I wanted to make love to you, but not making love was fine because what I feel for you is so incredible and wonderful. Being close to you is enough, but I didn’t want anything on that video to make you doubt that or make you feel that it wasn’t special to hold you and kiss you, 'cause it is. That’s what I'm afraid of -- only that. Chloe: I can’t believe it. You're so great. Philip: You mean it’s okay? You understand? Greta: Jennifer, what just happened in there? Jennifer: I, uh... had a shower. Greta: Yeah, with your ex, right? Jack just came out of there in his birthday suit. Well, practically his birthday suit. Did you? Did he? Come on, Jennifer, is he or isn’t he? Jennifer: You know what? I never should have had that wine, Greta. Greta: Is there something else you shouldn’t have done? Jennifer: It was all a really big mistake, and I'm going to go lie down now, okay? Greta: Hey. Is there something I can get you, maybe? Tea, water, Jack? Jennifer: No. No, nothing. [Door closes] Greta: They're both in separate rooms, and... nobody’s talking. That always makes me a little nervous. Jack: Ahh. No doubt about it, Jennifer Rose -- I will get you back, no doubt about it. Do do do, do do do do [Laughs] Gotcha. Greta: What? Jack: Have you seen Jennifer? Greta: Yeah, and she’s not looking very good. Jack: Well, must have been the wine. That’s your fault, for letting her drink so much. Greta: My fault? It was Jennifer’s idea. Jack: Did she say anything? Greta: About what? Jack: About me. What else? Greta: She didn’t mention your name. Jack: Don’t play games with me, princess. My feelings for Jennifer are not to be trifled with. Greta: If anyone’s doing any trifling, Jack, it’s you telling Jennifer -- well, not telling her that you're gay. Jack: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Remember, a promise is a promise is a promise. Greta: So what happened between the two of you in the shower? Jack: Not what you and Jennifer were planning, obviously. The two of you were up to something tonight -- playing with my affections, playing me for a fool. Greta: Oh, please. Jack: I've been known to pull a stunt or two in my time, but my love for Jennifer is not to be trifled with. This is too important to play games. Greta: What happened? Jack: I-I held her in my arms. We -- we kissed. Greta: And that was it? Jack: Yes, that was it, and isn’t it a bit unseemly for you to be asking me what’s going on? I mean, after all, that is -- it’s private. Greta: And it’s a little painful. You know, being in love with someone and not able to make love to them. Jack: Not able? Not able? Who’s not able? I was -- I was able, all right. Believe me, I was more than able. She was -- Greta: A woman. Jack: Under the influence. When Jennifer and I make love, I want her to be totally sober. When we blend, our hearts, minds, and bodies will not be diminished by an alcoholic haze. Greta: Are you serious? Jack: Princess, you see before you a man deeply in love and one hell of a lot closer to his goal than he was one hour ago. Mm. Ha ha ha ha ha. Greta: Jack Deveraux, if you end up being straight, you are going to regret it. Trust me. Jennifer: All right, Jack, if you are gay, and you have kept it a secret from me for all these years... no. No, that is -- that is not possible. I mean, when we were married, we were as close as two people could be. If anyone would know, I would know. I mean, wouldn’t I? Well, maybe not. Maybe I don’t know Jack as well as I thought I did. Belle: After Shawn told me that he had gotten Jan pregnant, I wanted to get him back. I wanted to hurt him, so I told him I hated him. Brady: Well, he had it coming. Belle: But it wasn’t true. It’s not true. I don’t hate him, so I told him I was sorry for saying it. Marlena: I'm very proud of you. It’s hard to be generous when you're feeling hurt. Brady: Well, you don’t want to hate Shawn, fine. I'll hate him for you. The next time I see him, watch out. Belle: Brady, you have to promise me, no violence. Brady: I promise I won’t kill him. Marlena: Brady. Brady: I'll just put a little dent in him. Belle: You are impossible. Brady: It’s macho humor. Belle: How did I end up with a brother like you? Brady: I have no idea, but you must be living right. Come here. Belle: I must be living right. I want to thank you -- both of you, because now I actually believe that I will get through this. Marlena: Of course you will. Belle: One thing’s for sure -- I might not hate him, but I definitely don’t want anything to do with Shawn Brady ever again. Philip: Then you're saying it’s okay? You understand why I don’t want you to see the video? Chloe: You understand me. That’s what’s so great. You get why I'd be upset, how I'd feel, and you care. Philip: All I want to do is protect you and make you happy. That’s what I'm trying to tell you every time I give you a rose. I wanted to bring you one tonight. I wish I had. Chloe: I still have the last one you gave me in my room. Philip: Roses remind me of you because they're so beautiful. They need to be tended to and cared for more than any other flower or they fade and wither. I want to take care of you. You need me to take care of you. Chloe: I'm really glad I didn’t watch that video. Philip: Then you believe me? Chloe: I believe you. Philip: Thank you. Chloe: Kiss me. [Thunder crashes] Chloe: The storm’s getting closer. Philip: Storm? What storm? Chloe: Maybe we should think about moving to the porch. Philip: I've got a better idea. Let me take you to dinner, unless you've already eaten. Chloe: No, I haven’t. Philip: Good. Let’s go someplace and celebrate. Chloe: What are we celebrating? Philip: Us. Why do you think I'm in this suit? Chloe: Pretty sure of yourself, aren’t you? Philip: I'm sure of us, the way we are together. How does Tuscany sound? Chloe: Uh, I'm not exactly dressed for that. Philip: You've got, uh, 15 minutes. Go do your hair and all that stuff. Chloe: 15? Philip: Okay, 20. I'll call and get a table. Cool. Chloe: I'll be back down in 10 with my own Jacket. Philip: Hey, Chloe. Philip: I just wanted to look at you again. Philip: I love you. Chloe: I won’t be long. Jack: Greta? Jennifer. [Thinking] I won’t forget what happened here tonight -- almost happened here tonight. Next time I won’t stop, Jennifer. I promise. Jennifer: All right. All right, Jennifer, you got to pull yourself together here. You got to get out of here and get some fresh air and just come back calmly and collectedly and just ask Jack. Shoot. All right, you just -- you just need to ask him. "All right, Jack, a-are you gay? And has our whole marriage just been a lie? All right, okay, well, you're lying. You're lying to me or you're lying to Greta, and I am not going to let you get away with it. My gosh, Jack, how could you?" No. No, I am so sure that he wanted to make love to me. That’s it, that’s it. I cannot stand not knowing. Okay, Jack and you have pulled your last stunt, and for once in your life, you are going to tell me the truth. |
