Roman: I was, uh, just checking out the little guy. It's been a while since I've seen him. I can't believe how much he's grown.

Abe: Yeah, I tell ya, he eats like a linebacker. This kid's going to be an athlete. Yeah, we're already playing catch with his rattle. He makes these one-handed grabs you would not believe, don’t you? Yeah.

Roman: Special time for you guys.

Lexie: What's going on, Roman? You haven't come to visit us since we moved in here. Now -- now you're here all of a sudden. Why?

Abe: Lexie --

Roman: No, it's all right, it's okay, Abe. Actually, I do have a reason for stopping by. I hate to bring bad news, but I thought it would be better coming from a friend, so you could prepare yourself.

Abe: Prepare ourselves for what?

Roman: Cameron Reese.

Lexie: Cameron Reese? What --

Roman: Yeah, she's representing the Reiber’s -- Glen and Barb. Glen thinks that Bo and Hope have his son -- his and Marlo’s.

Abe: Oh, my God.

Roman: It gets worse, unfortunately. She got her friend Judge Sanford to issue a court order. She is forcing Bo and Hope to have J.T.'s DNA compared to Glen's within the next 48 hours.

Bo: Hey. Is he asleep?

Hope: Yeah. His, uh, his little eyes closed as soon as I put him down. You know, I was looking at him, and I was thinking to myself about the first time he said his first word.

J.T.: [Baby talk]

Bo: All right, fish sticks -- open up wide.

J.T.: Da-da.

Bo: Did he just say --?

Hope: "Da-da"? Well, he said it. He -- he said it. He -- I have been waiting so long to hear this, do you understand?

Bo: You've been waiting so long... So have I. That's right, J.T.

Hope: Thank you, baby.

Bo: That's right. I'm your daddy, and I Hope you know how much I love you and your mom.

Hope: He was almost as excited as we were.

Bo: Well, wait till he says "Mama." I don’t think you would be able to handle that.

Hope: What if I won't do it? What if I refuse to allow this to happen?

Bo: Look, we have a court order here. We have to do it. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner this nightmare will be over, and we can get on with our lives.

John: How can this be happening? I mean, for Glen to get those positive DNA results, that would mean -- that's my kid.

Marlena: I know. I know how tough it is for you not to claim him as your son. You've been trying to do what's right for everybody. You've had a lot of practice at that. You're a real hero.

John: Yeah. Real hero.

Marlena: Protecting the children as always. We have to keep on doing that, you know? We've got to focus on the future. It's going to get very complicated very soon.

John: Oh, my God. The truth's bound to come out now, isn't it? Just a matter of time before everybody knows that I am J.T.'S father. Oh..

Sami: You know, I would love to stay and talk, but I have to get back to work.

Brandon: Oh, I'm sure Larry will cover for you, like he always does.

Larry: I got your back, Sami.

Sami: Yeah, thanks, Larry.

Brandon: Right in here.

Sami: Ahem. So... Something wrong, Brandon?

Brandon: Yeah. I'm sick and tired of you and your big mouth. That's what's wrong.

Sami: Whoa.

Brandon: One -- I don’t want you dissing Jennifer. Two -- I don’t want you gossiping about my personal life at all -- not about my family, friends, nothing. My entire life is off-limits. You got that?

Sami: Sorry.

Brandon: You know, I'm sorry that I ever opened up to you in the first place. What a mistake trusting you.

Sami: Look, you took that out of context. I mean --

Brandon: And the endless bragging about your personal life -- flashing that diamond around, like you were the first person to ever get engaged.

Sami: Why are you coming down on me about that?

Brandon: Just leave me alone, would you? I've got work to do.

Sami: Maybe you don’t want to admit that you're a little bit jealous.

Brandon: Oh, you'd like to think so, wouldn't you? But, no, not jealous at all. In fact, I’m glad you're marrying Austin, because now I'm starting to see the type of person you really are. Yeah, I'm finally tumbling to the fact that you've been running some game on me ever since we were in Italy.

Sami: A game?

Brandon: Yeah. Coming on, and then backing off. Playing me the whole time.

Sami: That is not fair! I told you from the beginning that I was in love with Austin.

Brandon: And now I'm supposed to be all brokenhearted -- I lost you to him? Well, get over yourself, Samantha. I am fine, happy, and busy. I told you that in the cafeteria earlier, but for some reason, you just keep jabbing away.

Sami: Because I care about you --

Brandon: No, I don’t want to hear about how much you care or how grateful you are for all that I’ve done for you. I'm sick of it.

Sami: What?

Brandon: You heard me. In fact, I’m at the point I’m not even sure I want to be friends with you anymore.

Fay: What's wrong? What happened that got you so upset?

Nicole: It's Daddy. I can't stop thinking about him. I can't believe he's really gone.

Fay: Oh, honey... Come on. Come sit with me on the couch, okay? Let's talk. You know, up to now, you haven't really cared very much for what I’ve been going through, but I can see that it's finally getting to you, Nicky. Do you know, every night, I still cry myself to sleep? Because the one thing I know about your father was that he truly loved us all. You got to remember, Nicky, he didn't have it easy as a child. His family had nothing. He was abused. He used to tell me terrible stories about... How his father used to lock him in a closet and beat him when he was bad, and that's why he did the same thing with his son.

Nicole: But, Mom, he beat you, too.

Fay: Uh, no, Nicky, he never really hurt me. And it was only when I did something to him. Remember when I tried to interfere when he went after Brandon?

Nicole: So you're telling me, in spite of all that, you still loved him right to the very end?

Fay: He was my first love, Nicky. He was the first one that made me feel loved, beautiful.

Nicole: What about all the horrible things he did to you, to all of us?

Fay: I just -- I just want him to rest in peace. He's gone, Nicky. It's time to forgive and forget.

Nicole: No. Sorry, Mom, but I will never forgive him, and I will never forget.

Sami: So you really hate me now. Is that what you're trying to tell me?

Brandon: No. I don’t hate you, Samantha. I'm just really disappointed in you. You know, everybody told me. They all said that you were selfish, manipulative. I didn't buy into it. I just thought you were someone who went after what you wanted, but now I realize they had you pegged.

Sami: That is really mean, Brandon.

Brandon: And the way you talk about Jennifer -- that's not mean?

Sami: I'm not trying to be mean to Jennifer, I just don’t think she's your type.

Brandon: Don’t you tell me what my type is, because you have no idea.

Sami: Look, I’m sorry! I just --

Brandon: You just told Larry you wish I’d dump her. What right do you have to gossip about me with Larry or anyone else? And what right do you have to criticize who I go out with?

Sami: I really didn't mean it that way.

Brandon: Sure you did. Maybe it's because you just don’t want me to move on. Maybe you want me sniffing after you like some lovesick hound dog. Well, that is not me.

Sami: I never thought that, Brandon.

Brandon: Then why don’t you want things to work out between Jennifer and me? Be real, damn it.

Sami: Look, I just think she's going to end up hurting you.

Brandon: Not only do you have no reason to think that, it's none of your damn business.

Sami: Fine. Fine.

Brandon: I'm a big Boy, Samantha. I make my own decisions about whom I go out with. My choice, you hear me? Not yours.

Sami: I was just trying to help.

Brandon: You were just trying to interfere, and that shows me that you don’t respect me and that what I heard about you is true.

Sami: Are you done? Do I get to talk now?

Brandon: Do I have a choice?

Sami: No. No, you don’t, because I have something to say, and you're going to hear it.

Fay: I understand that you can't forget what your father did. But maybe in time you could remember some of the good things, too.

Nicole: That is ridiculous logic. There was nothing good about that man.

Fay: That's not true, Nicky. He was -- he was an intelligent man --

Nicole: He was illiterate. He couldn't even read his own rap sheet.

Fay: And he had a good heart.

Nicole: A good heart? Mom, he -- you know what? Forget it. What's the use?

Fay: He adored you, Nicky, and you are dishonoring his memory.

Nicole: I don’t give a damn about his memory. He ruined my life.

Fay: You keep saying that. But I don’t believe you, Nicole.

Nicole: No? Well, I have proof. Look at this, Mom. You look at this tape and you tell me how much my father loved me.

Marlena: Yes, you're J.T.’s father. So now it's more important than ever. The children have to know.

John: Yes, they do.

Bo: You know what? We got to face the fact that Reiber’s got some pretty strong evidence in this case. J.T. does have FAS. You didn't abuse alcohol. Marlo did. [J.T. crying]

Hope: Oh, it's J.T. again.

John: Bo. I know how rough this has been for you. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm beginning to think that maybe it's -- it's a good thing that I'm J.T.’s father.

Bo: Good?

John: Well, like I told you before, I had a DNA test done. It proves that he's my son, not Glen Reiber’s.

Lexie: What? A court order demanding a DNA tests for J.T.? No. Bo and Hope shouldn't have to go through this. They should ignore it.

Abe: Excuse me. Um, you know they can't do that, Lexie. You know, as upsetting as this is for them, as upsetting as it is for all of us, we have to obey the law.

Lexie: Okay, fine, but they can at least stall it, can't they?

Roman: No. No, I know my brother, and he won't do that. Like Abe, he's an officer of the court, and he respects his mandate.

Abe: You know, eventually, they're going to have to get the tests done, or they'll be held in contempt and face serious consequences.

Lexie: Damn Glen and Barb. Why can't they just give up on this baby thing? How could that man have the audacity to think that J.T. is his son?

Abe: Well, unless he's right. It's impossible. I mean, it could be --

Lexie: It could be anyone. I told Abe Glen and barb are out to punish us all. That's why they're lying. First, they tried to take Isaac, and now they're trying to take J.T. Oh, poor hope. You know, I can just hear her telling anyone who says that her son's father is Glen to go to hell.

Roman: Look, nobody wants to believe this is possible, but the Reiber’s said they have solid proof.

Abe: What kind of proof?

Roman: When they were on the run with J.T., they had his DNA tested to see if it matched Glen’s. Now they're claiming they have this test to prove it does.

Lexie: Well, I know what Bo and Hope should do. They have to fight this, take it to a higher court. All they need is a good attorney and a lot of money.

Roman: Lexie, all they would be doing is postponing the inevitable.

Lexie: Oh, God, I can't believe that Bo and Hope have to go through the same living nightmare that Abe and I did.

Abe: Now this whole thing has gotten out of hand.

Lexie: Yes, yes, it has, but you know what? Bo and Hope are strong, Abe. They have each other. They'll get through this, they'll be fine.

Roman: I Hope you're right... For your sakes, as well as Bo and Hope's.

Lexie: What do you mean?

Roman: If Glen is the biological father of J.T., then you guys will be involved.

Lexie: Us? Why?

Roman: Why? Because Glen and Hope never even met until a couple months ago. So a DNA matches with J.T. and Glen can only mean one thing -- there was some kind of mix-up with the babies at the hospital -- possibly Isaac and J.T.

Lexie: You are out of your mind, Roman! With Isaac? No.

Roman: It's improbable, Lexie, I grant you that, but not impossible. There could've been a switch right after birth, and you and Abe could have Bo and Hope's child.

Brandon: What do you want to say?

Sami: Well, first of all, I'd like to say that you were right. Um, I was being unfair about the whole Jennifer thing and, um, I think it's just because I don’t think any girl would be good enough for you. And also -- ahem -- um, maybe something inside of me was a little jealous, and I don’t want to see you dating other women.

Brandon: You had your chance, Samantha.

Sami: I know, okay? I know, and it isn't easy for me to admit, and I know it sounds like I’m being selfish, it's just... I like it when your attention is focused on me, even if I am engaged to someone else, and... Even if I did let you go -- ahem -- wow.

Brandon: What?

Sami: It's just the first time that I've really been this honest about myself. It's just that when you were yelling at me, I started to realize that maybe I was really going to lose you as a friend, and that means that you wouldn't be in my life anymore. And that...Hurt. I really respect you, Brandon. I do. You're a really wonderful guy, and I'm really sorry that I blew it so badly.

Fay: Oh, my God. Nicky, is this...you?

Nicole: What a surprise, huh?

Fay: No. No, Paul would never encourage something like this.

Nicole: He did a little more than encourage. You want to take a stroll down memory lane and watch this little jewel with me, Mom?

Fay: That is sick, Nicky. What you're saying can't be true. You're lying, just to hurt me. You want to destroy all the good memories I have of your father.

Nicole: Oh, fine. You want proof? I've got proof.

Fay: What is that?

Nicole: It's a little something Eric got for me -- some behind-the-scenes footage. Let's look at it.

Fay: Whatever it is, I do not want to see it.

Nicole: No, Mom, I want you to look at it. Just think of it as our family's very own home movie. [On TV] Daddy, I can't do this now. My mouth is all dry, and look -- look, I'm getting that rash on my neck -- you know, the one I get when I’m all-nervous?

Paul: Aw, honey. Yeah, I see. All right, I’ll tell you what. I'm going to give you something now that's going to help you calm down, okay? You won't even know what's happening.

Nicole: Daddy --

Paul: Shh, shh, shh. Easy does it, sweetheart. It won't be that bad. It'll sting just a tiny bit, but you'll only feel it once.

Nicole: No, Daddy, please don’t do --

Paul: Shh, shh, shh. Shh...

Nicole: Daddy --

Paul: There you go. It's all over, it's all over.

Nicole: I don’t want to do --

Paul: You're going to be just fine. Just give it a few minutes, all right, baby? You'll be just fine. [Turns off TV]

Nicole: Isn't that sweet -- dad and daughter at play? Right out of a Norman Rockwell. What do you think of dear old daddy now, Mom?

Lexie: Roman, come on, the whole idea of a baby switch is ridiculous. I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to even suggest it.

Roman: Lexie, you used to work at the hospital. You know there are lapses in security.

Lexie: It's extremely rare, even rarer with newborns. They're monitored 24/7.

Roman: Human error, computer error. There are all kinds of ways to screw things up. And you have to admit, it explains a lot. How else do you explain the fact that Hope's baby suffers from FAS?

Lexie: Shut up, Roman. What you are saying didn't happen.

Abe: Lexie, I understand that you're upset, but Roman is here on our side.

Lexie: If he's on our side, why does he give credence to this insane baby switch theory, Abe? Does he not have any idea how upsetting this is? Have some compassion, would you, Roman?

Roman: Lexie, please listen to me. I am not trying to hurt you. I'm just trying to give it to you straight.

Lexie: Well, I don’t want to hear it. Do you understand that? Do you get that it makes me crazy to even consider the possibility that Isaac is ho-- no. No, I won't say it. Isaac is my son, and I resent your waltzing in here and even suggesting otherwise. Do you want to hurt me, scare me -- is that what you're trying to do, Roman?

Abe: Lexie, take it easy.

Lexie: No! No, I won't take it easy when it comes to the welfare of my child. I am telling you right now, if anyone tries to perform a DNA test on my son, I will fight them to the death. I will use every resource, all my father's power, to fight anyone who comes near my son.

Roman: Lexie, I understand that you are upset, but I wish you would understand the only reason I came over here -- as a friend, as a good friend -- is because I want you and Abe to be prepared for what's in the works.

Lexie: This discussion is over. Get out of my house.

Abe: Lexie.

Lexie: You heard me! Get out!

Bo: This DNA test that proves you're J.T.’s father -- did you have that done after we brought him home from the hospital?

John: That's a fact. So even if there was a baby switch, there is no doubt that the child that you have here in this house, and in your heart, is mine.

Bo: Maybe.

Marlena: Why do you say that?

Bo: He said DiMera was involved. Anything's possible.

John: Bo, listen, we're going through a crisis here. We've got to stay positive. Now, when Glen compares his DNA to J.T.’s, there's no way that's going to match.

Bo: So why did Reese say that he already did a DNA test, and it matched J.T.’s?

John: I don’t know. Anyways, let's just wrap this up and have this test done as soon as possible.

Hope: Absolutely not. No. No way. I'm not giving that bastard the satisfaction.

John: Listen, Hope, I don’t want you to take this the wrong way here, but I think we need to try to understand where this character's coming from.

Hope: And I will not allow you to paint him as the victim here.

Marlena: Hope, I think what John is trying to do is just assess the situation so we know exactly what we're up against.

John: All we know about this Glen Reiber is that he has done everything possible to try to find his son.

Hope: But this is my son we're talking about. It's not his son. And you know what? I really don’t appreciate you being an apologist for someone whose trying to take him away from me, John.

[Knock on door]

Bo: Hey, Mick.

Mickey: Hey, I came here as soon as I could.

Hope: You've got to help us.

Mickey: Yeah, yeah, I will. Let me see that court order.

Bo: Here it is.

John: So, how's it look?

Mickey: Mm. Pretty much standard operating procedure. Uh, first and foremost, this Glen Reiber has to prove paternity. Worst-case scenario is if the DNA test does match --

Hope: It won't match. It won't match, and there won't be any test.

Bo: And if it does match, what happens?

Mickey: Well, I don’t want to be the voice of doom here, but there's no reason for Glen to go through all this if he wasn't planning to sue for custody.

Hope: No. He is not going to get my son.

Sami: Anyway, um, so do you think we could maybe have a truce?

Brandon: Whatever.

Sami: I really am sorry, Brandon, and I realize that that's not enough, and that it's too little too late. But I promise you that I will work really hard on being a better friend to you, and... Maybe then someday you will be able to start to forgive me. What do you say?

Brandon: We'll see.

Sami: It's not a no.

Brandon: No more cracks about who I'm dating, okay?

Sami: I promise. Brandon, you know, you're... Really important to me, not just because you give me really good advice, but, you know, you always make me laugh and... Usually you make me feel really good about myself, and as you may have noticed, I don’t have a lot of friends.

Brandon: Well, hey, you know, you're busy being a mom, working. Well, working some of the time, anyways. And now you're planning a wedding. Am I invited, by the way?

Sami: You want to come, really?

Brandon: Sure.

Sami: Well, then of course you're invited.

Brandon: And if I decide to bring Jennifer... You cool with that?

Sami: Brandon, you can bring whomever your heart desires. I want you to be happy.

Brandon: Likewise.

Sami: So, um, how's Nicole doing these days? Is she seeing anyone?

Brandon: Where did that come from? Why are you asking about Nicky?

Sami: I don’t know. I hear her name a lot, because Austin’s been working with her, and I was just wondering if she was dating anyone.

Brandon: I don’t know. I, um, I don’t get into that with her.

Sami: So, do you really think that maybe she and victor are together? I mean, she's been living with him at his new mansion.

Brandon: Don’t go there, Samantha. As far as I know, they have a very close business relationship. Period. Samantha, Nicole is young, beautiful, could have any guy she wants. Kiriakis is not her type.

Sami: You mean because he's old enough to be her grandfather. Well, I suppose she wouldn't be the first young lady to go after a guy because he's rich.

Brandon: Samantha, would you chill on that? And it's none of my business or yours what's up with Kiriakis and Nicole. Forget about it. Especially if you don’t want fallout from that kind of gossip to blow up on Austin.

Sami: What do you mean?

Brandon: You should be very careful what you say, imply, or even think about Nicky. If you mess with her or give her any attitude, it could have serious repercussions on Austin’s job.

Sami: I don’t know. Nicky seems to love working with my future husband.

Brandon: Samantha, back off on that gossip thing, okay? Nicky has even less patience than me when it comes to someone messing around in her personal life.

Sami: Well, as long as Nicole stays out of my personal life when it comes to Austin, you know what I mean?

Brandon: What are you saying, Samantha? Are you worried Nicky’s making a play for Austin?

Fay: No.

Nicole: Fascinating, isn't it?

Fay: Be real. Paul would never have done something like that.

Nicole: Oh, my God. You saw the tape with your own eyes, and you're still trying to pretend it never happened?

Fay: Who else knows about this?

Nicole: Who else knows? Mom, is that all you caring about? What about your part in this? You always turned a blind eye to everything that Dad did. You never protected me. You had to know something was going on.

Fay: No, honey, I promise you, I didn’t. I swear!

Nicole: Well, now you do. And because of you, I have to live with this memory for the rest of my life, and I wanted you to see it, so it would burn in your memory and your heart and your soul so that you would finally accept the truth and suffer the way that I have!

Fay: How could you be so mean and so vindictive?

Nicole: Because it makes me sick that you would have the nerve, that you would be stupid enough to excuse and mourn that degenerate monster who was my father.

Sami: No. I don’t think that Nicole is going to make a play for Austin. Obviously, she wouldn't stoop that low. I was just thinking that if maybe she had something other than work to keep her occupied, then Austin wouldn't have to work such long hours.

Brandon: You know, maybe Nicole doesn't have time for something other than work. Nicole has a very demanding job, Samantha.

Sami: I know that. I was just saying she needs to have fun, too, right?

Brandon: Who says she's not having fun?

Sami: Look, all right, I was just suggesting that maybe you might want to find some guy to set her up with, then she won't be so obsessed with work, and then Austin can spend more time with me and will.

Brandon: Okay, first of all, I don’t do matchmaking. Second, I'm not going to interfere in Nicky’s life, and neither are you.

Sami: I never intended to. I was just offering up a suggestion. I guess I'd better get back to work. Larry can't cover for me forever. So I’ll see ya.

Brandon: Right.

Brandon: Take my advice, Samantha, because if you mess with Nicky, you'll be very, very sorry.

Fay: Brandon doesn't know about this, does he?

Nicole: No. And he's not going to, either. He doesn't need to be destroyed by knowing what happened to me. And do you know why finding out would destroy him? Because he would've thought it was his fault he didn't protect me. He would've done something, unlike you. And you knew. Don’t say you didn't.

Fay: Nicky, I swear to you, I didn't know.

Nicole: Right! You keep telling yourself that so you could live with yourself. But it doesn't change the truth. And now you have to suffer. And you accused me of being insensitive to your suffering? Well, now you have to sit here alone tonight and think about what I went through and what your denial about Paul did to me. All those years of humiliation and torture, when I should have been happy. But instead, I... I was doing this!

Fay: Nick-- Nicky, Nicky!

Abe: Lexie, you take it easy. Now, there's no reason for you to lay into our friend like that. Roman came here trying to help.

Lexie: And now he's through "helping." This discussion is over.

Abe: Look, I am -- I'm really sorry, but when it comes to Isaac, she just seems to just --

Lexie: Look, I don’t need you making excuses for me, okay? Isaac is my son. I'll do whatever's necessary to protect him. Roman, I said leave, or I’ll call security.

Abe: You will chill out, damn it. Look, I -- I don’t know what to say.

Roman: Don’t worry about it. It's all right, okay? Don’t worry about it. I understand.

Abe: How could you be so rude to a man that has laid his life on the line for me, who stood by me when nobody else would?

Lexie: Abe, where are your priorities? He just threatened our family.

Abe: He did nothing of the kind. Roman just wants the truth to come out, as do I. Now, I told you before that I will, within the law, keep our family together. But to do that, I need the whole truth.

Lexie: The only truth that matters is that Isaac is our son, no matter what anyone finds out. And no one will ever take him away from me, Abe -- ever. Do you hear me? Isaac is mine.

Mickey: Hope, let's not jump the gun. Glen Reiber has a long tough road ahead of him. In the first place, his DNA might not even match J.T.’s.

Hope: "Might not"? Of course it won't. How many times do I have to say it? There won't be a match.

Mickey: Honey, I understand how you feel. Certainly, I don’t blame you for wanting to dismiss this as a possibility, but maybe you'd be reassured to know that if they do get a match, there is no guarantee that Glen will be granted custody.

Hope: I don’t want to hear this, uncle Mickey.

Mickey: I know you don’t. And I'm sure you don’t want to know what I’m about to say to you, but as your attorney, I point out the fact that the courts are much more sensitive these days to fathers' rights, especially if the mother put the child up for adoption without the father's consent. I'm sure that there are many cases where the court has ruled that the child should remain with the adoptive parents.

Marlena: Especially in a loving and nurturing home like yours is.

Mickey: Exactly.

John: All right, Mickey, if we do proceed, what's the first step?

Mickey: Well, then I would have to get my office started researching recent court decisions that would impact our situation.

Hope: What if we don’t take the test?

Mickey: You mean if you stall?

Hope: Yeah.

John: Yeah, where would that get us?

Mickey: Look, as upsetting as it may be to have this test done on your son, it's something the court has ordered. You have to get it done eventually. You don’t want to anger Judge Sanford by procrastinating.

Bo: So we got to do this, get the results, and move on from there?

Mickey: Right.

John: I think there is something we need to do before that.

Marlena: We have to tell the children.

John: Mm-hmm. But what do we tell them first, that this Glen guy may take J.T. away or... that J.T.’s my son?

Mickey: Your son.

John: That's right.

Mickey: John, are you telling me that you're the father of Hope's baby?

John: Yes.

Marlena: As difficult as that must be to accept, it will be even more difficult for Shawn and for Belle.
