Shawn-D: You look perfect the way you are.
Brady: Chloe.
Chloe: I'm sorry, Brady, I can't do this. I can't go out with you tonight.
Brady: Why not?
Chloe: There's just too much pressure. Look, can we just go for a ride in your jeep like we used to?
Brady: It's about Philip, isn't it? You don't want him to see us out together. Admit it.
Victor: Nicole, I thought you wanted to take a walk in the snow.
Nicole: I do. Do, do, I do. First snow of the season is so romantic.
Victor: Sure you wouldn't rather stay here, sit by the fire, have a couple of brandies?
Nicole: Ooh, hold that thought until tonight.
Philip: Dad, where are ya?
Victor: I'm in the foyer. Honey, don't go away now. You stay here.
Philip: You going out?
Victor: Yes, you just caught us.
Philip: Since when do you spend the weekend with Nicole?
Victor: I beg your pardon.
Philip: You work with her all week. Isn't that enough? It's not like she's part of the family.
Victor: What's the matter with you, Philip?
Nicole: I'm going to go get my purse.
Victor: You stay right here. What's going on with you?
[Doorbell rings]
Victor: Damn.
Kate: Well, opening your own front door these days. We must be in an economic downturn, huh?
Victor: What the hell are you doing here, Kate?
Kate: I'm here because I was invited by our son.
Philip: I need to talk with the two of you. Together.
Victor: And why wasn't I informed of this meeting?
Philip: If I had told you ahead of time, you would've found some reason to duck out.
Victor: Well, you wasted your time coming here, Kate. And let this be a lesson to you. I already have plans.
Philip: Dad, please.
Kate: Can't you see that he needs us?
Philip: And I could use your help.
Nicole: I don't want to get into the middle of family things.
Philip: Well, you already are. I need some time alone with my parents, okay? It's important.
Nicole: I understand that, but your father and I have plans.
Philip: Well, change them.
Nicole: No, that is up to Victor, not me.
Philip: Look, I don't know what you hope to get from my dad. I mean, I know you've always tried to be friendly and supportive of me, and I appreciate that, but I'm trying to bring my family back together, and every time I turn around, you're in the way.
Victor: Philip, that's enough!
Philip: What did u do, throw mom out?
Kate: I'm right here, darling.
Victor: Listen, I'm going to have to meet you later.
Nicole: Okay.
Victor: Why don't you meet me at...

Austin: You want to get a diamond? Isn't that kind of conservative?
Will: What's conservative?
Austin: Um, boring.
Will: Mommy's not boring.
Austin: That's true.
Sami: You're sure right I知 not. Don't you boys want to know which one I like the best?
Austin: How about that one?
Sami: Austin, that one's, like, three karats.
Austin: So?
Sami: Well, it probably costs, like, $50,000.
Will: Whoa.
Austin: Whoa, yeah, will is right. Um, ha ha. How about the next one?
Sami: That one.
Austin: What?
Sami: It's perfect.
Austin: The ruby one?
Sami: No, no, the one next to it. If you were going to get me a ring, that's the one I would want. But it seems like it might be more expensive than some of the others.
Will: Maybe Santa will bring it.
Sami: Yeah, maybe.
Austin: Oh, maybe. Maybe, uh, it's time to take will to get some ice cream.
Will: Yeah.
Sami: You're going to go buy it now?
Austin: Well, I might. I might not. Well, I mean, I'm just going to price check it, you know, see how much it'll cost us.
Sami: Us?
Austin: Yeah. You know... Everything is going to be us from now on, starting with the ring.
Sami: I love you.

Will: Mom!
Sami: Okay. All right, we're out of here.
Austin: Ice cream time.
Sami: Surprise me.
Austin: Mm-hmm.
Belle: Shawn, time-out.
Shawn-D: Time-out?
Belle: If we keep this up, we're never going to get to the movie or home or anywhere.
Shawn-D: Well, then they're going to find us here frozen together.
Belle: I have to go.
Shawn-D: Forget about doing your hair.
Belle: Tonight is our second date. I have to look perfect.
Shawn-D: You already do.
Belle: Shawn, stop.
Shawn-D: You know you want to stay.
Belle: No, I don't.
Shawn-D: You do, too.
Belle: No, I don't! Okay, okay, okay, okay. I will stay, but no tickling, no kissing, and I'm going to button my sweater.
Shawn-D: Well, we might as well leave then.
Shawn-D: No, I'm just kidding, all right? Fine -- no hands. See? I promise.
Belle: No, no, no! I can't believe we're doing this in the middle of the park.
Shawn-D: Well, it sure beats the linen closet at the hospital.
Belle: Don't remind me. Do you see my mom anywhere?
Shawn-D: Dr. Evans? Don't worry, I'm with your daughter. Everything is under control. You're safe with me.
Belle: Like she's going to believe you.
Shawn-D: You are, you know.
Belle: I always feel safe with you. This day has been so perfect.
Shawn-D: Hey, we're just getting started. We still have the whole night ahead of us.
Belle: Not if you don't let me get ready, we won't.
Shawn-D: Soon.
Belle: You are driving me crazy!
Shawn-D: So? Let me drive you a little crazier.
Chloe: My not wanting to go to a movie with you has nothing to do with Philip.
Brady: Chloe, come off it, please. You know damn well that Cynthia's going to be at the movies tonight with Philip. You're just afraid that if we show up together, Philip's going to think you're being unfaithful, unpure towards him, and, my God, what a tragedy that would be.
Chloe: I thought you were supposed to get smarter as you get older. Sure couldn't prove it by you.
Brady: I thought that we were supposed to be friends, Chloe.
Chloe: So did I.
Brady: Friends don't stand each other up.
Chloe: All I'm suggesting is a change of plans -- to go for a ride in your jeep instead of going to a movie -- and suddenly it's all about Philip?
Brady: Will you listen to yourself? You're letting him control your life again.
Chloe: I am not. Where do you get off insulting me like that?
Brady: And where do you get off using me to spend time with? You don't want to be seen with me in public? Do you have any idea in hell how insulting that is to me, Chloe, as a friend?
Sami: Will, will, wait, slow down.
Will: Why?
Sami: Because mommy needs to sit down and pull her head together.
Will: What about my ice cream?
Sami: We'll get your ice cream in just a second. In fact, I think we're both going to get everything that we want today.
Will: What's wrong?
Sami: Well, you know what it feels like to wait and wait and wait for what you want and then you finally think you're going to get it?
Will: Like ice cream?
Sami: It's better than ice cream, Will. Everything I致e ever hoped for and ever dreamt of I think is finally going to happen.
Will: So you're happy?
Sami: Yeah. I'm very happy.
Man: The setting is particularly unusual. It shows the beauty of the diamond.
Austin: It's, uh, it's nice, all right.
Man: Please. Are you familiar with the properties of the diamond?
Austin: Properties?
Man: The four c's we call them -- cut, color, clarity, and karat weight
Austin: Enlighten me.
Nicole: [Thinking] Diamonds are a girl's best friend, all right. I owe it to myself to pick up a little something and charge it to Victor.
Nicole: Austin? [Gasps] Don't tell me.
Austin: Okay, now that we've discussed the four c's -- cut, clarity...
Man: Color.
Austin: Color and...
Man: Karat.
Austin: Karat. How about the fifth "c" -- cost?
Man: Well, I can let you have this ring for $8,995.
Austin: Wow. Um, I suppose it wouldn't be any cheaper after the January white sale, would it?
Man: Ha ha ha. It wouldn't help, I'm afraid. We do have others less expensive.
Austin: No, no. This is the one she wants.
Man: If it would help, we do have a 2-year financing plan.
Austin: Now you're talking.
Nicole: Austin.
Austin: Nicole.
Man: Is this the lady in question?
Austin: No.
Nicole: No, but I知 a friend. Would you excuse us for just a minute?
Man: Of course. Take your time.
Austin: What are you doing?
Nicole: I'm saving your butt. Put that ring down and get out of here before it's too late.
Kate: You're not having any more physical problems, are you?
Philip: Oh, no, nothing like that.
Victor: Of course he's not. Don't you think I'd know if there were a medical problem?
Kate: Well, I don't know. You seem to be otherwise engaged these days.
Victor: I do still have a business to run, Kate. And important plans for the rest of the day.
Philip: Like what? Cocktails and lunch at some fancy place with Nicole?
Victor: Don't press your luck, Philip. You're already out of line, springing this meeting on me.
Philip: Is it too much for your family to ask for a little of your precious time?
Victor: She's your family, not mine.
Kate: Victor, let's not turn this into one of our squabbles. Obviously, our son is troubled by something. Otherwise, he wouldn't have the two of us together in the same room.
Philip: Could you try and act like a family, for my sake?
Kate: Well, I have no problem with it.
Philip: Dad?
Victor: Are you in some kind of trouble?
Philip: Yeah. I am. I don't know how to handle it. I mean, do you know what it means to me to have you both here in our home?
Victor: Oh, for God's sake --
Kate: Victor, please.
Philip: When I got out of that hospital in Puerto Rico, I thought everything was going to be different, better. I'll never forget coming to And seeing you both there together. The love I felt for both of you kept me going. I needed you so much, and I still do!
Kate: Sweetie, whatever's wrong, we are here for you now, too.
Philip: I wish the three of us could be a family again. Dad, I know that there's all so ts of reasons why that can't happen, but my life is totally screwed up right now. I lost the girl that I really care about, because I acted like a total jerk. And she has no reason to trust me.. I get up in the morning, I go to class, and it's like part of me is not there. I'm running on empty, and I don't know how to fix it.
Kate: We said that we would be there for you, and we haven't been.
Philip: I can't come to either of you the way I used to. It's, like, this separation that keeps getting wider.
Victor: Well, obviously, we're going to have to find a way to make things better for you, Philip.
Philip: There's only one way, dad. I can't take mom living in her place, Nicole sitting across from me at breakfast? That is not my life! That's not my life. I want things back the way they were before.
Victor: Change is inevitable.
Philip: Well, then change things back, dad!
Victor: It won't work!
Philip: You won't know unless you try! Tell Nicole to get her own place. Move mom back in, and then you two can work at getting on, finally getting married, like you were supposed to after all those years mom took care of you in the nursing home.
Victor: This is low, even for you. Using our son like this. It's unforgivable.
Chloe: After everything that we've been through together, how could you think that I would deliberately bail on you? I would never do anything to hurt you or insult you. Don't you know that?
Brady: I do now. So, are we still on for the movies or what?
Chloe: What time do you want to pick me up?
Brady: Well, that's Belle's thing. She's kind of planning this whole event.
Chloe: I'm really glad that all of us are going out together. I don't know what happens to me sometimes. I just feel like this black cloud comes over me, and all I want to do is go into hiding.
Brady: Well, every black cloud needs a silver lining.
Chloe: And I suppose that's you?
Brady: Yes, it is, 'cause I知 always good for a laugh.
Chloe: When you're not being a pain.
Brady: What, warmhearted, fun-loving Brady Black? Me? No.
Chloe: I'll give you fun-loving. [Giggles]
Brady: Cheap shot. That's not fair, Chloe. Let's see here.
Chloe: Aah! Ha ha ha! Missed!
Brady: Not... This time.
Chloe: Come here. [Giggles] Aah!
Belle: You know, it's funny. When Chloe's with Brady, she doesn't seem as moody.
Shawn-D: Maybe he found the secret to keeping her happy.
Belle: I think Brady actually understands her.
Shawn-D: I think Brady's got a crush on her, and he won't admit it.
Belle: It's possible.
Chloe: No! Stop! Don't!
Belle: Shawn, that's Chloe.
Shawn-D: Yeah, let's go.
Victor: You put Philip up to this. Admit it.
Kate: No. No, I --
Philip: Don't talk to her like that. She had no idea. I tricked her into coming the same way I tricked you into staying. Because that was the only way that I could think to get us all in the same room. I love you. And I need you both. I thought that if you understood how much it meant to me to get you back together, that you would do something about it. But I guess I was wrong.
Kate: No, Philip, please don't go. Victor, do something.
Victor: Philip, you're not a child anymore. You have to accept the fact that your mother and I are not going to get married, much as we love you.
Philip: Is that what you want, mom?
Kate: That's the way it is.
Philip: So what am I supposed to do, start calling Nicole "mom"?
Kate: Oh, Philip.
Philip: I'm sorry! I just hate having her here.
Victor: Get used to it.
Philip: So much for the father-son thing.
Victor: Look, I have given in to your wishes time and time again. You wanted me to support your mother financially, I'm doing it. She's free to come here and visit as much as she wants to, within reason. But that's it. Our relationship is over, finished, done! Do I make myself clear?
Philip: Crystal.
Kate: Well, since we're on this subject, my bank account needs a refresher.
Victor: Learn to budget.
Kate: Well, I will, when I get a job, but I am still unemployed.
Philip: Hey, you don't need to justify yourself. It's the least he can do.
Victor: I'll write you a check.
Kate: Thank you.
Philip: I'm sorry, mom. I didn't want things to end up this way.
Kate: Honey, it's okay. Believe me, I know everything you're going through. Just remember, if you need to, you can talk to me about anything.
Victor: I assume you won't need my financial support once you start working in Basic Black?
Kate: I'll let you know.
Victor: Davis, bring the car around.
Philip: Make out a check, and that solves everything. End of discussion. Next time, I would appreciate a little advance notice.
Philip: Well, maybe there won't be a next time.
Victor: Grow up, Philip. Come and get it, Kate.
Kate: Do we have to make this as unpleasant as possible?
Victor: I've kept Nicole waiting long enough. If you want to continue this discussion, I値l be home later tonight.
Philip: I won't be.
Austin: This isn't tied to business. I mean, this doesn't concern you.
Nicole: But it does. I see you becoming one of our top executives, Austin, with quite a future ahead of you. If you want it.
Austin: What's most important to me in the world is family. You know, I'm building a relationship with a woman who is committed and honest based on love and trust, and I have found that with Sami. And when I put this ring on her finger, that is my promise to put her and will above everything and everyone else.
Nicole: Then this marriage is a done deal.
Austin: Yeah, as far as I'm concerned.
Nicole: Well, it certainly is a beautiful ring. You won't get any argument from me there.
Austin: Hey, maybe, you know, one day you and Sami will be able to put your past aside and, I don't know -- call me crazy -- maybe you'll be able to be friends.
Nicole: Ha ha ha. Don't hold your breath, Austin. Because when all this love and trust goes down for the count, don't say I didn't warn you.
Austin: I'm going to save you a dance at our 50th wedding anniversary.
Nicole: Ooh, well, I wish you luck, because you're going to need it.
Austin: All right, well, goodbye. I will, uh, I'll see you Monday morning, bright and early, at work.
Sami: Will, can you keep a secret?
Will: Uh-huh.
Sami: Mommy and Austin are going to get married, and the three of us are going to be a real family.
Will: Yay!
Sami: That's why I知 so happy.
Will: Me too.
Sami: You know, we're going to buy a house and a big backyard for you with a swing, and the three of us are going to live together.
Will: Happily ever after.
Sami: You got it.
Will: Is daddy going to live with us, too?
Nicole: [Thinking] Isn't that a cozy family picture? Poor little kid -- having that witch for a mother. His fate may be sealed, but Austin's doesn't have to be. I know how to work Sami. All I have to do is scare her a little, make her doubt Austin. And bye-bye, wedding bells.

Man: Very good. And the lady can come in anytime and have it fitted to her size.
Austin: Great, great, and how about that payment plan?
Man: Of course.
Austin: Yeah, I壇 like to put $500 on my credit card and finance the rest.
Man: Oh, that'll be fine. I'll be right back with the application forms and the jeweler will polish this for you.
Austin: Thank you. [Thinking] $9,000. I cannot afford to lose my job now. I had no idea Sami had such expensive taste. Oh, I guess I have a lot to learn about you, Sami..
Sami: Honey, daddy, can't come live with us. He -- he's still asleep.
Will: Is God watching over him?
Sami: I'm sure he is. You are one very lucky little boy, though, because you get to have Austin as your second daddy. The three of us are going to be together forever.
Will: Can I have ice cream now?
Sami: Of course you can, with sprinkles and everything.
Will: Race ya.
Nicole: Where the hell is Victor?
Victor: Hey, watch your language.
Nicole: Well, Mr. Punctuality is late.
Victor: Well, I知 all yours.
Nicole: Everything peaceful on the home front?
Victor: Well, I had to put out a couple of fires, but no permanent damage. Why do I find you in front of a jewelry store?
Nicole: Don't you think you owe me a little something to make up for being late? Not to mention letting Philip throw me out of the house.
Victor: I don't owe you anything.
Nicole: Victor.
Victor: But I could be talked into getting you a little token of my affection. Did you have something in mind?
Nicole: Mm... Hmm. Those.
Victor: Diamond earrings. I suppose you've priced them.
Nicole: Why? Money's no object with you.
Victor: I don't throw it away.
Nicole: Not even on the right person?
Victor: You're going to have to set your sights a lot lower before I pull out the plastic. Come on. I'm starving.
Kate: Mm. Thank you for what you tried to do today.
Philip: Mm. A lot of good it did.
Kate: Well, I'm proud of you.
Philip: Why can't dad see you for who you are? He acts like he hates you..
Kate: Your father is a very stubborn man, but he's your only father, so don't forget that, even when you're very, very angry at him.
Philip: You are amazing. You know that? You're the one who should be getting angry, and you're not.
Kate: Well, I know things didn't go the way you wanted them to today, but I think there was definite progress.
Philip: You're kidding.
Kate: Well, look, he didn't throw me out of the house, he gave me a very generous check without too much arm-twisting, and I think he was actually rude about how you felt about Nicole living here. Those are baby steps, but that is definite progress.
Chloe: Aah! Your luck is running out, Brady Black. Ha ha ha ha!
Brady: Oh, you're going to pay for that one, Chloe Lane.
Chloe: Oh, wait. Wait, wait. Still friends?
Brady: If you think I知 just going to let you stop because you're being all nice and friendly all of a sudden, you got another think coming.
Chloe: I don't need you to let me do anything.
Both: [Laughing]
Belle: So much for Chloe in distress.
Shawn-D: Yeah, looks like Brady's the one in trouble.
Chloe: [Laughing]
Brady: Oh, my gosh. Oh, hey.

Belle: We could hear you screaming all the way across the park.
Brady: Oh, don't worry about that. That was just Chloe singing.

Brady: Come on, guys. Let's get into it. What do you say?
Belle: I can稚. My hair.
Chloe: Let's get 'em.

Shawn-D: Oh, you know it!

Sami: Well, that's one wish coming true.
Austin: Well, if you close your eyes and wish real hard...

Austin: Well, you know, just a little window-shopping.
Sami: Did you buy anything special?
Austin: Who, me?
Nicole: Victor, wait. What happened to the two of us having fun together today?
Victor: I am just sick and tired of everybody hitting me up for money, expensive gifts, as if that's all I知 good for.
Nicole: This isn't even about me, is it? You're angry at Kate and Philip, and you're taking it out on me. Well, you know what? I can buy my own damn lunch.
Victor: Nicole.
Nicole: All I wanted was one afternoon alone with you.
Victor: We can still do that. Listen, I'm sorry. I don't know why I let Kate get to me the way she does.
Nicole: So what'd she do, rake you over the coals for more money?
Victor: Yeah, she used Philip to force my hand.
Nicole: You still have strong feelings for her, don't you?
Victor: Hatred and contempt.
Nicole: Yeah, I致e heard that from other couples, and they act like they're ready to rip each other's throats out, and then six months later, they turn around and get back together like nothing ever happened, and I can't help but wonder if that could happen for you and Kate.
Victor: That's not even a remote possibility. I'll see her in hell first..
Nicole: Yeah, but what if -- what if your relationship with Philip depends on you getting back together with your ex? Kate knows you won't risk losing Philip's affection. I mean, that's her trump card, and if she plays it, she wins and I lose.
Philip: Mom, I know dad still cares about you. I could feel it when you two were together in the hospital with me.
Kate: Well, right now he's in denial, but if you keep telling him how you feel, in time, he'll listen, and then Nicole will be looking for furnished rooms elsewhere.
Philip: Hmm. That can't come too soon.
Kate: His love for you is going to make him do the right thing. When you were talking to him today, I could feel it drawing us back together again. It's going to happen.. You just have to be patient.
Philip: Mom, I've been patient. I've tried to do everything right, and none of it seems to be paying off.
Kate: Okay, now, are you talking about victor, or are you talking about Chloe?
Philip: It's -- it's everything.
Kate: Honey, why don't you tell me about Chloe, hmm?
Philip: Don't you have enough to handle?
Kate: No, that can wait. You come first. And who knows? Maybe I can help you. You know, I do know a little bit about women.
Sami: So, Austin, why don't you, um, show me what you have in your pocket?
Austin: Ha ha. What makes you think I bought anything?
Sami: Well, you were gone for an awfully long time.
Austin: Well, I'm a slow walker.
Sami: Come on, Austin, if you don't tell me right now, I'm going to freak out in this mall.
Austin: It would really help if I knew what you were talking about.
Will: I know.
Austin: Well, why don't we head back to the apartment, and you can whisper it in my ear?
Sami: Wait, wait, please, please. You got to tell me.
Austin: Tell you what?
Sami: I'm not leaving here until I know.
Austin: Okay, well, we'll see you later. Are you going to come?
Will: Sure.
Austin: Okay, cool. Let's go.
Sami: Austin. Men!
Austin: You told me to surprise you, and that's exactly what I知 going to do.
Victor: Kate will never be back in my life, no matter what Philip wants, and the fact that you doubt that makes me realize how badly I致e been shortchanging you.
Nicole: I'm not complaining.
Victor: Well, you should be. If this were a business deal, you'd be giving me hell.
Nicole: Ha ha. Probably.
Victor: Well, it's time you got a little quality assurance, and there's no time like the present. Come on, and don't ask any questions.
Kate: The thing is, most women, they want what they can't have.
Philip: So you're saying I should go out with Cynthia, even if it means hurting Chloe?
Kate: I think you need to show Chloe that you are a strong, independent guy who's getting on with his life whether she's with you or not, and if that means going out with what's-her-name, then so be it.
Philip: You don't think I知 using Cynthia?
Kate: Well, not if you show her a good time, no, I don't. And she knows about you and Chloe, right?
Philip: Yeah, I guess.
Kate: Well, honey, there it is. Go on out. Go on out and have a good time.

Kate: If you run into Chloe, you say, "hi, how are you?" And then you keep on going.
Philip: I don't know if I can pull that off.
