Ridge: What happened?Brooke: [ Sniffles, sighs ]
Ridge: Is it spencer? Did he hurt you?
Brooke: No. No, nothing like that. It'S... [ Sighs ] He did something. [ Sighs ] Something horrible.
Ridge: Well, whatever it was, I -- I can't say I'm surprised. It was only a matter of time.
Steffy: I talked to liam. I told him what you said. That you regret everything. That I was there to broker a truce.
Bill: And?
Steffy: I tried to get through to him, bill. I really did. But he just wouldn't listen. He's too upset. I mean... can you really blame him after what you did?
Bill: I screwed up.
Steffy: I know you and liam have butted heads before, but it's nothing like this. This is new territory for you, bill. And I know you crossed a line. And I want to believe that there's gonna be peace between you two, but not yet. Liam's not stepping down as C.E.O.
[ Door opens ]
Wyatt: For the record...
[ Clears throat ] ...The next time that you want to see me, ask me nicely. Maybe send me a little smiley emoji, some hearts. "Hey, bro. I'd love to see you when you get a chance." Don't ever demand that I come back to this office, okay?
Liam: Where the hell were you?
Wyatt: [ Sighs ] Okay. I was in the middle of something, your highness.
Liam: What?
Wyatt: Living my life. I don't know. It's none of your damn business.
Liam: Oh, cool, cool, cool. Sure, sure, sure. Hope it was awesome, because you haven't been here all week.
Wyatt: Okay, you know what? I've had a very, very pleasant day today, and I wouldn't change anything about it, really. Except for this little exchange that's going on, being interrogated by my brother, who now is apparently C.E.O. Of our family company. How did that even happen, by the way? Hm? How did you get dad to agree to all this?
Wyatt: Something's up. You're acting weird. Dad's not himself lately. And then here you are suddenly sitting at his desk at his company. And that's just supposed to be normal?
Liam: All I'm gonna say is, dad's taking some time off.
Wyatt: Since when? He doesn't even know what that means. He barely even goes out for lunch. But okay. I'm supposed to believe he simply just stepped down and gave you a shot at being chief executive for what, kicks? That makes zero sense whatsoever. Do you understand me?
Liam: Wyatt, all right. Enough. I am C.E.O. Now. It's not changing anytime soon. You're just gonna have to get over it. Or not. It's up to you.
Steffy: Did you hear what I said? Liam's not stepping down.
Bill: I heard you.
Steffy: So what do you want to do? Are you okay? I know this is hard. Liam is angry. But you're his father -- the only one he's got. Hopefully he'll forgive you.
Bill: We'll see.
Steffy: Is something else bothering you?
Bill: Forget it.
Steffy: Bill, what's wrong? If you want me to help you, you have to tell me what's going on.
Bill: Brooke left me.
Brooke: I don't want to hear anything negative about bill from you.
Ridge: Okay.
Brooke: But I'm not going back there.
Ridge: You're not going back to him?
Brooke: Back to the house. I just need some space.
Ridge: He must have really messed up. But -- but you're not gonna tell me what he did, huh? Well, whatever happened... maybe it's for the best.
Wyatt: Do I look like I'm buying any of this?
Liam: Don't be bitter, wyatt. I mean, I'm sure you'll be sitting in that chair at some point. But for now, I am C.E.O., And while I'm there, I plan on doing some good -- both for the company and the world.
Wyatt: Huh. Humor me. Like what?
Liam: Raising salaries. Expanding benefits.
Wyatt: Oh, that sounds expensive.
Liam: Wyatt, our employees have been loyal. They helped build this company, some of them for years and years without ever getting a decent raise. That's not right. They got families. They got kids to put through college. It's time we recognize their hard work and, well, thank them for putting up with dad all this time.
Wyatt: I don't think we have enough money in the entire budget for that.
Liam: Ah! Interesting you bring that up. Another thing I'm doing is allocating more funds to spencer foundation.
Wyatt: Hmm.
Liam: You know, fund some research, give to some charitable foundations.
Wyatt: Did you run this by dad?
Liam: Didn't need to.
Wyatt: You know, he's not -- he's not exactly a big fan of giving away money, right?
Liam: Wyatt, I'm calling the shots now.
Wyatt: It just gets --
[ Chuckles ] It gets weirder and weirder every time you say it.
Liam: Oh, you're gonna love this. You know dad's building? His, uh, skyscraper project?
Wyatt: Mm-hmm.
Liam: Not happening.
Wyatt: What?
Liam: Yeah, yeah. Turns out the, uh, spectra property is no longer available, so... dad's building plans are put on hold indefinitely.
Wyatt: [ Laughing ] Liam, I-I hate -- I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but I think you're getting way ahead of yourself. There is no chance in hell he's gonna allow you to get away with that.
Liam: Not up to him.
Wyatt: You know, you keep saying that, but think about it. No one believes in payback more than dad. So be smart and don't piss him off.
Steffy: I can't believe you told brooke.
Bill: I don't want to keep secrets from my wife.
Steffy: Obviously she didn't take it very well.
Bill: No.
[ Chuckles ] No. She didn'T. You know, I expected she would be upset. Question my judgment. I didn't expect she would walk out on me.
Steffy: [ Sighs ] I can't say I'm shocked. A lot of people could've been hurt at spectra.
Bill: I told you, I made sure the building was empty.
Steffy: What about the firefighters? Or the people outside? People could've died, bill. And what you did to liam --
Bill: I know! I know. I-I swore I would never be that guy. That I would never treat my kid the way my father treated me. But I was hurt, and I lashed out. It was stupid. I regret it. If I could take it back, I would. I would take it all back.
Steffy: You didn't think it through.
Bill: I just went after what I wanted. It's what I do. I don't know how to live my life any other way, steffy.
Steffy: [ Sighs ] You've just got to learn from it and move on. You got to make things right with liam and brooke.
Bill: I wanted it so bad. I didn't care what it took to get it. But it wasn't worth it. My son won't speak to me. My wife walked out on me. And why? Because of that -- that obsession with that damn building. Well, to hell with it! I would give 10 skyscrapers to have brooke back.
Ridge: I know you're upset, but maybe... maybe this is a good thing. You leaving spencer.
Brooke: I didn't say I was leaving.
Ridge: No, I know you didn't say that. And -- and I know you -- you had high hopes. But you must have known somewhere that he was gonna disappoint you, right?
Brooke: No, actually. I didn't know that. I really thought that this time it was going to work out for us. That we wanted the same things and we had the same values.
Ridge: I hate seeing you like this. I just... want you to be happy, you know? Hey. I'm here for you, logan. I'm always gonna be here for you.
[ Door opens ]
R.J.: Hey, dad.
Ridge: Well, my son. Still hard at work? I'm impressed.
R.J.: Yeah, I was just reorganizing the photo studio.
Ridge: The photo studio? Wow, no one's done that in a long time. Thank you.
R.J.: Yeah, of course. So, uh, what are you doing here?
Ridge: I-I'm still finishing up a few things.
R.J.: Well, uh, you have any, uh, big plans tonight?
Ridge: You want to have dinner with me?
R.J.: Maybe. If mom can come, too.
Ridge: Yeah, no, that sounds great. Tonight is not the night for that, but -- but some other time, yeah.
R.J.: Is everything cool? I saw you guys a little while ago.
Ridge: You saw us? Why didn't you say hi?
R.J.: It was a little intense. I didn't want to interrupt. Mom okay?
Ridge: She's upset.
R.J.: Why? What happened?
Ridge: Spencer happened.
R.J.: What'd he do?
Ridge: I don't know. That's the question. She wouldn't tell me. But whatever it was, it was bad enough for her to take a little time away from him.
R.J.: Mom left bill?
Ridge: For the time being, yeah.
R.J.: Dad, you know what this means? You and mom can get back together.
Brooke: Your father told me everything. I know you're C.E.O., And I also know why. And as his wife, I am very sorry for what my husband's done. I had no idea.
Liam: [ Scoffs ] There's no way you could have known. And even if you did, there was nothing you could do about it.
Brooke: I don't blame you for taking over spencer publications. Spencer is in trouble, and this family's in turmoil, and you are the one with a moral compass.
Liam: Did he...send you?
Brooke: I walked out on him.
Liam: Oh. So... you guys are, um...?
Brooke: I-I'm not sure. I... I don't know what I'm gonna do. I love your father very much, but --
Liam: Listen, brooke, I-I, um... I can't imagine what you're going through right now, and i don't want to speak against him more than I already have, but, for the record, I get it. I see why you had to walk away.
Bill: I can't lose brooke. I won't let it end this way.
Steffy: No, it won'T. She's just overwhelmed right now.
Bill: No, you didn't see her, steffy. She was furious.
Steffy: She just needs a minute to take this in. She'll be back, bill.
Bill: And what if she doesn't come home?
Steffy: Look, don't talk that way. She'll be back.
Bill: I couldn't keep this from her. I had to tell her the truth.
Steffy: Well, I'm sure she appreciates your honesty.
Bill: You know, for the first time, I see what I've done. I've been a man consumed by his own needs. Creating an empire, amassing a fortune, relishing my reputation as dollar bill spencer, and everything that went along with it. But it may have cost me what I value most. My family. My wife and my son.
Steffy: Look at me. It's gonna be all right. I'm gonna help you get through this.
R.J.: If mom's leaving bill, then this is your chance to make your move.
Ridge: All right. Don't -- don't get your hopes up just yet, all right?
R.J.: You're thinking the same thing I'm thinking. And don't you try denying it. I mean, you want nothing more than to be with mom. And why can't you? I mean, if granddad and quinn can get through all that drama, maybe you and mom can, too.
Ridge: Yeah, well, let's -- let's see what happens.
R.J.: Okay, I-I get you're trying to act all casual, but i saw what I saw. Mom in your arms.
Ridge: She was upset.
R.J.: No, you guys have crazy chemistry. Have my entire life. But, you know, I don't want you feeling any pressure or anything.
Ridge: Oh, well, thank you.
R.J.: Yeah, well. I'm just saying, I'm rooting for you. I'm sending some good vibes.
Ridge: If you're sending good vibes, maybe you should send some to your mom. She needs to find a way to break free of spencer. Be nice to be a family again, huh?
Brooke: [ Sighs ] I had to leave you father. I-I just had to get out of there.
Liam: I'm sure it was a -- a shock, what he told you.
Brooke: Yes. I was blindsided. I'm still stunned. [ Sighs ]
Liam: Believe me, I'm still trying to process everything that happened, myself.
Brooke: I believed in him. I always saw the best in your father. I never, ever expected this kind of behavior.
Liam: He's a criminal.
[ Scoffs ] Do you know -- do you know how much it kills me to say that out loud? My father is a criminal. And the scariest thing about all this is that he -- he doesn't understand that. He doesn't see how ruthless, how reckless he's actually been. That's why I had to take the company away from him -- to protect us from him. And until he changes -- if, by some miracle, that day ever comes -- I'm not letting him anywhere near here. Or me. Or anyone I care about. And, yeah, he's not gonna like it, but tough. That's the way it is. Brooke... I so respect you for standing your ground. And as his son, this is probably the worst thing for me to say, but it's the best advice I got. Leave him. Find your happiness with someone else, because trust me, you deserve so much better.
Brooke: What you're saying to me right now, what you're doing to your father, this could be a very dangerous situation. You know that bill takes revenge very seriously.
Liam: I know. [ Scoffs ] He already lost his company. With you walking away, too...
Brooke: He could stand to lose everything that he cares about. And you know he's not gonna take that lying down.
[ Clicks tongue ] He's gonna come after you, liam. Hard. It's not gonna be pretty.
Liam: Let him come. There's nothing more he can do to hurt me.
Steffy: I've never seen this side of you.
Bill: Well, it's embarrassing. Y-you might want to leave. It must be pathetic to watch.
Steffy: No, it's not. You're human. Actually, the most human I've ever seen you.
Bill: Hurts like hell. Brooke walking out on me, not knowing if she's coming back.
Steffy: She will. Brooke will come home.
Bill: You're an exceptional woman, steffy. Of course, I've always known that. Liam's lucky to have you. After everything he's put you through, I'm not sure deserves you.
