Episode # 7669 ~ Liam makes a bold move that takes Bill by surprise; Steffy unknowingly interrupts a secret liaison.

Bill: Brooke's at work.

Justin: I cannot believe what you just told me.

Bill: You can't believe it? He recorded me behind my back! What the hell kind of universe is it when my son tries to force me out of my own company? Liam, no less!

Justin: Well, he wants your resignation by 9:00.

Bill: Or he snitches to the cops.

Justin: I cannot believe liam would do this! So, what are you gonna do?

Liam: I figured my dad wouldn't be able to put the actual words down on paper, so I did it for him. All he's got to do is sign on the way out.

Steffy: You're seriously thinking of doing this?

Liam: It's time.

Steffy: You know I support you in every way, and I don't condone bill having spectra fashions torched...

Liam: But?

Steffy: Spectra's not coming back. Your father's here to stay. Forcing him to step down from this company that he built... you might ruin your relationship with him permanently. Are you willing to do that?

Katie: Oh! Oh! Ow! Ow, ow!

Wyatt: Is that a good "ow" or bad "ow?"

Katie: Ow! It's -- it's a sword "ow!" [ Laughs ]

Wyatt: Oh! I'm sorry about that.

Katie: I didn't stay stop.

Wyatt: Oh.

Katie: Have I told you how happy I am that you were so persistent?

Wyatt: [ Chuckles ]

Katie: I wouldn't want to miss a single second of this.

Wyatt: I knew it would be like this.

Katie: [ Chuckles ]

Wyatt: I did.

Katie: You're always so confident.

Wyatt: Well, I -- I know what I'm good at.

Katie: I just -- I can't believe that I wasted all that time with those old dudes.

Wyatt: Right?

Wyatt: Oh, gosh! There's a marketing campaign in there somewhere.

Katie: I could be the spokesperson.

Wyatt: Ooh!

Katie: There's always so whiny and they have so much baggage, and it's all about them...

Wyatt: Oh, my gosh.

Katie: And with you, it'S... it's all about me. I like it.

Wyatt: Yeah.

Katie: [ Giggles ]

Liam: I just can't do it anymore, steffy. I can't let my dad keep getting away with hurting people who can't fight back.

Steffy: I understand where you're coming from.

Liam: I mean, first, it was the dirty tricks and the corner-cuttings and the psychological manipulations and intimidation. It's like, okay, I get it, you know?

[ Scoffs ] I don't like it, but part of being at spencer is looking the other way. But this quest for power has gotten out of control, and he has to be stopped before somebody ends up dead. I mean, could you imagine -- could you imagine if that actually happened? I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Would you?

Steffy: I know. I know. I just want your eyes to be wide open, okay? You're taking a major stand, and there will be consequences.

Liam: Oh, I know. My dad will be furious and vengeful, and life will not be easy for a while.

Steffy: For a while?

Liam: [ Scoffs ] I guess I'm banking on somewhere down the line him coming to respect what I did and respect that I led his company into a more principled, more humane future, but I can't tell you how much it means to me that you're with me on this.

Bill: There's no way I'm handing my company over to my traitor son. All that tofu he eats must have rotted his brain if he thinks that's even possible.

Justin: I know this isn't something you want to hear. As your legal advisor and your friend, I'm telling you, your son hasn't left you a choice. If he goes to the police with that recording, you're done. So sign the company over to liam or go to prison. Me, too. Look, I'm not telling you, bill. You have to go over there, suck up your pride, and sign over the company to liam and let him be the C.E.O.

Justin: Getting close to liam's deadline. He said resignation in hand by 9:00.

Bill: I know what he said.

Justin: Okay, so what are you gonna do? The clock's ticking.

Bill: I'm well aware.

Justin: Are you gonna give liam your resignation, or do i need to get our affairs in order?

Katie: [ Giggles ] Can you imagine if anyone found out about us?

Wyatt: [ Laughs ] We don't even know what "us" is. No, I mean, I -- I assume we'd hear a lot from a few people.

Katie: Mm. I'm not sure quinn would ever really recover.

Wyatt: Yeah. You're gonna need a lot more than a telescope to protect you.

Katie: Hey! Don't you be talking about my telescope. Those things come in very handy.

Wyatt: You are sensitive about this thing. Holy -- what?

Katie: [ Giggles ]

Wyatt: Who else?

Katie: Oh, yeah, right. Yeah. Who else?

Wyatt: Yeah, dad's probably not gonna be very thrilled about this.

Katie: Yeah, well, he's not really in a position to judge.

Wyatt: But you know he will. And harshly. And I'm not exactly in the position to alienate him right now. I think I'm on track to be heir apparent at spencer.

Katie: Is that what you want?

Wyatt: Very much.

Katie: You'd be a great C.E.O.

Wyatt: Thank you. I mean, I am the only natural choice. You know, handing the reigns to me, it's just like dad handing the reins to himself. I mean, we're that much alike. And I just -- that's kind of why we should keep this on the down-low.

Katie: Yeah.

Wyatt: I just don't want to upset him.

Katie: [ Laughs ] Yeah, you don't have to worry. My lips are sealed.

Wyatt: Well, don't go that far. 'Cause I mean, I kind of -- I kind of need these lips right now.

Katie: Do you? Really?

Wyatt: Mm-hmm.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Mnh-mnh.

Katie: Really?

Wyatt: Mnh-mnh.

Katie: [ Chuckles ] Hang on.

Wyatt: Come on. [ Sighs ] What?

Katie: Oh! Ooh! Looks like steffy is at the front gate.

Wyatt: That's odd.

Katie: I should probably go let her in.

Wyatt: I wonder what she wants.

Katie: I don't know. I guess we will find out.

Wyatt: Well, okay. [ Laughs ] Get rid of her 'cause I'm not done with you yet!

[ Knocking on door ]

Katie: All right! Hang on, hang on, hang on! Hi.

Steffy: Hi. Is everything okay?

Katie: Uh, yeah. Why?

Steffy: First off, you're wearing a robe and you look flushed.

Katie: Oh! Well, I'm -- I'm fine.

Steffy: Come to think of it, you've been -- you've been working at home a lot recently, huh?

Katie: Yeah, but -- but don't worry, I'm not neglecting my responsibilities. I mean, most of my work is on the phone or online, so... with traffic and all, sometimes it's just easier.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, especially when you have someone here.

Katie: [ Chuckles ]

Steffy: You have a guy over, don't you?

Katie: Okay. Yeah, I do.

Steffy: I knew it! Okay, okay. Well, uh, nice. I'll, uh -- I'll make this quick. I just want to thank you for all your hard work in monte carlo. You and wyatt are a great team.

Katie: Yeah, who knew, right? I mean, but you don't -- you don't have to thank me. The pleasure's all mine.

Steffy: Well, uh, I apologize for barging in like this, but i just wanted to give you a heads up. Something's going down. Something that's gonna rock the entire fashion industry, and i just wanted you to know now that you're head of pr.

Katie: All right, well, you have my attention, so what's going on?

Bill: You look like a kid in that chair. It's way too big for you.

Katie: You seem worried.

Steffy: I am. I just need you to be prepared. Like I said, this is gonna rock the entire fashion industry.

Katie: I can't imagine what it could be. I mean, the fire at spectra, right before a career-defining show. There's so much going on.

Steffy: It's bigger than that.

Katie: Bigger? Wow.

Steffy: Yeah. I just need you to roll with the punches on short notice.

Katie: Okay.

Steffy: And one more thing -- I don't know if you know this, but zende and nicole, they're gonna be going to paris working at international. Zende's gonna be designing, and nicole, she's gonna be working in marketing.

Katie: Yeah, I heard that. That's a great opportunity. I will put out a press release.

Steffy: Okay. Well, I think I kept you long enough. I'm sure someone agrees.

Katie: Uh, are you sure you can't give me a hint about what's going on?

Steffy: [ Sighs ] I'm sorry about being all mysterious about this. I just don't want you to be blindsided. There's gonna be a lot of media attention to deal with.

Katie: Okay, um, keep me posted. That was strange.

Wyatt: Yeah? What did she say?

Katie: She wanted to warn me about something, but she really wouldn't tell me what it was.

Wyatt: Huh. I wonder what's going on.

Liam: Hi, dad.

Bill: I was gathering my thoughts, things I needed to say to you.

Liam: Not gonna change my mind, but okay.

Bill: Well, maybe it will, and maybe it won't, but I think you owe it to me to listen, don't you?

Liam: Go ahead.

Bill: I know you feel like you haven't been heard around here, but that's not true. It's just that -- you're not a bottom line kind of executive, liam. You'd rather make a difference in the world than maximize profits. And while that's not me, it's certainly commendable and in keeping with your innate goodness, your belief system.... and it's very important that we all hold true to what we this little coup? Blackmailing your own father? That's not who you are!

Liam: You're right. It goes against every instinct in my body.

Bill: Then stop!

Liam: I can't because you can'T.

Bill: Liam, you have to know that I will never allow this. I will not be forced out of my own company.

Liam: Dad, I have a recording of you confessing to arson. But that's not even the sick thing. You want to know what the sick thing is? That was just another day at the office for you.

Bill: Upon reflection, I may have gone too far.

Liam: I am thrilled to hear you say that.

Bill: So I'll tell you what. From this point forward, I will bring you in on every decision i make. You can be my conscience.

Liam: No.

Bill: I am really trying to be reasonable here.

Liam: You can't talk your way out of this, dad. You destroyed people's lives. You understand? People just struggling to make their way in this world, all to, what, to satisfy your ego? Your pride? Your lust for power? Who cares about the little guy as long as you get what you want? Well, as it happens, I do. I care about the little guy, and I am in a position to do something about it, and it's gonna cost you the thing you love most in this world -- spencer publications.

Bill: [ Chuckles ] Wow. Well, look at you. A little perceived power already going to your head.

Liam: Do you think that I get a kick out of this? Out of morality policing you? No, the truth is, somebody has to stop you from taking a bulldozer to people's lives, and I guess that's me. So I'm gonna bulldoze you, and it's not to hurt you and it's not to punish you. It's not because it feels awesome. It's to protect and save what you have already built. Spencer needs new leadership, and it needs it bad.

Bill: And you really think that's you, you self-righteous son of a bitch?

Liam: Yeah, dad. It's me. I figured you wouldn't, uh -- you wouldn't want to do it yourself, so I already drew up the documents. All you have to do is sign. There's no choice here, dad. You can read it if you want to. It's pretty straightforward. You resign, appointing me C.E.O. Of spencer publications, effectively immediately.

Wyatt: "Bombshell stuns fashion world" -- I mean, that is just the kind of story that spencer publications would want to cover.

Katie: And there it is. I was wondering when work mode was gonna show up.

Wyatt: You know...

Katie: What are you thinking?

Wyatt: Well, I hope this doesn't sound like I'm trying to take advantage, and feel free to say no if you want, but... I was wondering if you were willing to give me first press with the story.

Katie: So you want a favor.

Wyatt: Well, I just -- okay. It would make me look good in dad's eyes. He would see himself as leading the pack and me, one day, running spencer in the future. I mean, who else, right? 'Cause dad has to know that liam isn't equipped to run the company.

Liam: This is not a contest of wills, dad. It's an ultimatum. Either you resign or I go to the cops with you admitting to arson.

Bill: You don't want to do that, liam.

Liam: No, I don'T. I don'T. But I will. So, should I call lieutenant baker? I'm sorry.

Bill: No, you're not.

Liam: You know... you may not believe it, especially not now, but I am trying to do the right thing. Maybe even one day make you proud.

Bill: [ Chuckles ] I'm so proud. I am so proud. The only reason you're here is because when you showed up out of nowhere, I brought you in. I gave you everything. And you show your gratitude by trying to blackmail me out of my life's work! I'm gonna sign your little paper, but I'm not resigning. It's a leave of absence.

Liam: Call it what you want, dad.

Bill: I'm calling it like it is. Don't get too used to the big boy chair. Because I'll be back. Your enjoy your reign while it lasts because it won't be long, I promise you that. I will find a way around you. Or through you.

Liam: But not today.

Bill: No. No, not today. But I'm gonna leave you one more thing to think about in the meantime.

Liam: What's that?

Bill: You're a traitor, and the worst kind of hypocrite. You question my ethics, my morals, and use blackmail to satisfy your own. Recording your father, using extortion to take my company. You should know me well enough, liam. I don't get even with those who betray me. I decimate them. My son...

Liam: [ Grunts ]

[ Groans ]

[ Panting ]

[ Exhales sharply ]
