Bill: You threatening me?

Caroline: No, no! I'm showing you my loyalty!

Bill: Listen to me. Nobody threatens me. Nobody crosses me, especially not my niece. I trusted you, and you spit on that. I will not forget it.

Caroline: No, please, can we just talk about this sensibly? [Gasps] Aah!

[Body thuds]

Katie: Well, Caroline did the right thing, convincing Rick to tell Hope the truth.

Brooke: All this time, Hope thought that Liam and Steffy were kissing the night before the wedding, but it was a lie. So, that changes everything.

Katie: Yeah, including Bill's relationship with Caroline. He was so upset. He kept going on and on about how she betrayed the Spencer family name.

Brooke: Hmm. I'm glad she left before he got home. Gives him time to cool off.

Katie: Yeah. I mean, he'll get over it eventually, and one good thing that came out of this -- now that Hope knows the truth, maybe she'll have another shot with Liam.

[Liam remembering]

Hope: I will never lose faith in you again. Please, please forgive me.

Steffy: Hey, you. What are you thinking about? I bet you 100 bucks I know exactly what you were just thinking about -- or should I say whom?

Liam: [Chuckles] Would you believe me if I told you I was just enjoying an innocent daydream about Angelina Jolie? Who doesn't hold a candle to you, by the way.

Steffy: Okay. Nice try, Buddy.

Liam: Am I that much of an open book?

Steffy: I can read you pretty well. Look, it's -- its okay. I know Hope's on your mind. All that means is that it's up to me to get her out of it. And what better time than New Year’s Eve, right?

Rick: Hey, there she is.

Hope: Uh, I got that box of fabrics you sent over. Did you really have to triple-seal it? I would have broken like three nails if I didn't already bite them off.

Rick: It's the fashion showdown. You can't be too careful. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if Thomas got this whole place wired.

Hope: [Laughs] Don't worry. I've already checked the place for bugs.

Rick: You're talking to me.

Hope: You're still my brother.

Rick: I thought you'd be furious with me. You have every right to be.

Hope: I am furious with you. I hate what you did, and you really messed things up for me. I don't know if my life will ever be the way it should have been because of your stupid lie, but I am the one who believed it. And I am very grateful that you finally told me the truth.

Rick: I wish I could take full credit for it, but, really, Caroline's the one you should be thanking.

Katie: It seems like things are getting pretty serious between Rick and Caroline.

Brooke: Yes. She's been so good for him.

Katie: Well, she is a smart, beautiful, strong-willed girl, and I give her credit for not being intimidated by my husband.

Brooke: Bill's very serious about family loyalty.

Katie: Yes, he is. When you're a Spencer, you're a Spencer. Nothing gets in the way with family.

Bill: Stay with me, Caroline.

[Siren wails]

Bill: The ambulance is on the way. You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be all right. You're gonna be fine.

Steffy: I brought home some samples from the Intimates line. I'm gonna need your professional opinion later, but I want straight answers.

Liam: [Chuckles] Well, you can count on it.

Steffy: All right, I'll give you a little preview. Black, lacy, sexy, classic. I'm well aware of what you like.

Liam: Uh-huh. Back to that whole open-book thing.

Steffy: Yeah, I'm pretty good at getting inside your head.

Liam: You think so, huh?

Steffy: Don't ever doubt it.

Liam: Well, you know, if you say it, it's golden.

Steffy: I don't think you're predictable.

Liam: I'm not predictable?

Steffy: No. You continue to surprise me every day.

Liam: Really?

Steffy: I mean it.

Liam: Well, I guess a little mystique is good every now and again.

Steffy: I don't want to know everything about you.

Liam: You don't want to know everything about me?

Steffy: It takes away from all the new stuff to discover.

Liam: Like what?

Steffy: Like you and paragliding. Who knew?

Liam: Oh, oh. Yeah, that was pretty cool.

Steffy: It was so much fun -- flying over Aspen, just the two of us?

Liam: I know. It's a shame you can't admit you were scared.

Steffy: I was not scared. I knew I could trust you.

Liam: Always have.

Steffy: Always will. I'm good, as long as I know the one thing I need to.

Liam: And what's that?

Steffy: That... you're miserable without me.

Liam: You are -- you are so sure of that, aren't you?

Steffy: I am positive. I've seen it firsthand, and it ain't pretty. Look, it's -- it's done. It's all in the past. Finito, okay? All that matters is how you feel. And I bet another $100 that you are feeling pretty darn good.

Liam: Okay, can we just, like, set up a tab? Because I feel like I'm gonna owe you a lot of money.

Steffy: Yeah, when I'm 50, probably.

Liam: 50? 50 years?

Steffy: Well, you know, we can take it day by day, see how it goes. I was gonna say 60, but I didn't want to be too cocky.

Liam: All right, fine, 60. Oh, my God. We're gonna be so old.

Steffy: And super sexy.

Liam: You are, maybe.

Steffy: Hotter than Angelina Jolie?

Liam: Well, like I said.

Steffy: [Laughs]

Rick: I don't think that I'd ever have the guts to tell you if it wasn't for Caroline. She could see how that lie was just eating me up, and she's the one that made me come clean.

Hope: She sees the good in you. She believes in you.

Rick: Yeah. Well, you know, I've dated a lot of women, and I've just never felt this way about anyone. I can see myself with her. No. I can't see myself without her. I just plain don't want to be.

Hope: I've never heard you talk this way about a woman.

Rick: Well, Caroline's off the charts, and she likes you a lot, too. She's impressed by you -- the power of your message and how you're dedicated to your values.

Hope: Well, I got a little bit off track for a while, but, um, I'm totally ready to jump back into things, re-invigorate Hope for the Future, get things rolling again, and it's perfect timing with the fashion showdown, except this time, it won't be tied to my personal life, which was a horrible mistake.

Rick: We all make mistakes, Sissy.

Hope: Rick, I know you were trying to protect me, but I've got it from here.

[Siren wails]

Doctor: What do we have?

Paramedic: Unconscious female. Possible severe head trauma. B.P. -- 90/60. O2 stats -- 87.

Doctor: How long has she been out?

Bill: I don't know. Around half an hour. She's my niece.

Doctor: Let's get a C.T. scan.

Katie: Bill, what's going on?

Brooke: We heard the sirens at the house.

Bill: It's -- it's Caroline. She's unconscious. They're doing some tests.

Katie: What happened?

Brooke: Bill, what happened to Caroline?

Bill: She fell off the balcony onto the tennis court.

Brooke: What?

Katie: Oh, my God.

Bill: It was an accident.

Steffy: Unzip me?

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: I'm picking up some vibes from you.

Liam: I'm sending vibes now, huh?

Steffy: Mm-hmm -- ooh, I think I'm getting another one.

Liam: Oh, you are?

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Liam: I bet you are.

Steffy: [Laughs] In the interest of honesty and openness, I-I think you should probably know that I saw Hope earlier on.

Liam: Oh. I know. I saw her, too.

Steffy: Did she try to plant another one on you?

Liam: No.

Steffy: I wouldn't be surprised. She said she wants you back. She made that very clear.

Hope: You hold on to Caroline. She's fantastic. In fact, I want to thank her for encouraging you to tell me the truth.

Rick: Well, that would be great, but she's at Bill's right now telling him how she convinced me to come clean to you.

Hope: Geez, that's fun.

Rick: Yeah, it's got me worried, having her deal with Bill alone, but she insisted I get back to work.

Hope: I wonder how he's going to react.

Rick: Not well, I'm sure. But I'll tell you, he better not come down on her too hard.

[Cell phone rings]

Rick: Hey, Mom.

Brooke: Oh, Honey. You need to get to the hospital right away.

Rick: Why?

Brooke: It's Caroline. She fell at Bill's house.

Rick: Is she all right?

Brooke: Just come as soon as possible.

Rick: All right, I'm on my way.

Hope: What is it?

Rick: It's Caroline. She's at the hospital.

Hope: What? What happened?

Rick: She fell at Bill's house. I don't know.

Katie: Bill, please. Please tell me what happened.

Brooke: Any word?

Katie: No. The nurse was just here. There hasn't been any change.

Brooke: Caroline's still unconscious?

Katie: Yes. You need to call Karen.

Bill: I'm -- I'm -- I will call Karen. I want to find out exactly what's going on with Caroline. I don't want to worry her.

Brooke: Can you give us some details about exactly what happened?

Katie: You said she fell over the balcony onto the tennis court. I mean, that's got to be at least 10 feet.

Brooke: That balcony has a railing. How could she just fall over it?

Bill: I... I don't know. It happened very fast.

Brooke: Were you arguing?

Bill: I wouldn't call it arguing.

Katie: But you were angry with her. You said so yourself.

Bill: What are you trying to say, Katie?

Brooke: We're just trying to figure out exactly what happened here.

Nurse: They're finishing her C.T. scan. She'll be on her way down soon.

Bill: Is she awake?

Nurse: No. I'm afraid she's still unconscious.

Steffy: What do you think?

Liam: Oh, my God. My brain right now is like -- I -- wow. Wow.

Steffy: Speechless. Exactly the reaction I was hoping for.

Liam: Yeah, well, you make one of those in every color, and every man on the planet will be thanking you.

Steffy: I only care about one guy and making him happy. I think I have.

[Glass clinks]

Steffy: Liam, you are in such a good place. You're relaxed, and you're free, and you're -- you're you.

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: Don't get dragged back into all that Hope drama. It sucked the life out of you. I just don't want to see that happen to you again. I feel good about our relationship. To us.

Liam: A very happy New Year to us.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Bill: Katie and I are at the hospital with her. She's gonna be fine, Karen. I don't want you and Dani to worry. I'll be here. Call me when you get this.

[Bill remembering]

Caroline: I'm sorry I disappointed you.

Bill: You're sorry.

Caroline: Hope was upset for months. She thought that Liam cheated on her, and he didn't. She had to know.

Bill: It's not your responsibility. Family, blood -- that's who you support.

Caroline: I was supporting my cousin -- your son -- in getting the truth!

Bill: Wrong.

Alison: There you are. How's Caroline?

Bill: Still unconscious.

Alison: She'll be all right, Bill. She's young, she's strong.

Bill: Yeah, well, you don't know that, Alison. Give me the paperwork. I don't want to bother with this right now.

Alison: It's the Tokyo acquisition. Quite a few documents for you to sign. I brought something else for you. Just a little something for you to take off the edge.

Bill: Thanks.

Brooke: Where's Bill?

Katie: He's calling Karen.

Brooke: [Sighs] What an awful call to make -- telling his sister that her daughter's unconscious.

Katie: Yeah, and that he might be the reason. I just -- I just pray she wakes up soon.

Brooke: Katie, you don't think that...

[Elevator bell dings]

Rick: Mom!

Hope: Hey.

Rick: Where is she? Where's Caroline?

Brooke: They're still examining her.

Rick: Examining her? Is she gonna be okay?

Brooke: We hope so.

Katie: She's still unconscious.

Rick: What? What the hell happened?

Hope: You said she fell at your house?

Katie: Yes. Apparently, she did.

Brooke: She fell off a balcony onto the tennis court.

Rick: Oh, my God.

Hope: Oh, my God.

Rick: Was she by herself? Was Bill with her? Mom, tell me, was she with Bill?

Brooke: Yes.

Katie: But it was an accident. She lost her footing, and she fell over the balcony.

Rick: An accident, yeah. He did it.

Brooke: Rick.

Hope: Okay, did anyone else see it happen?

Brooke: No.

Rick: You know he was mad at her, right?

Katie: He would never intentionally hurt his own niece. I know that.

Rick: I swear to God, if he's responsible in any way --

Brooke: Rick, please, calm down.

Nurse: Excuse me. Miss Spencer's back in her room. You can see her now.

Hope: Okay.

Rick: Caroline.

Nurse: We're hopeful she'll come around soon.

Rick: Hey, Baby. It's me. I'm here. You wake up. Oh, come on, please, Caroline, for me, wake up. Caroline? Can you hear me?

Katie: Oh, thank God.

Rick: There you are. You okay? Can you talk to me? Can you tell me what happened?
