Bill: We're family. How the hell could she do this?

Brooke: Caroline is a very principled young woman.

Bill: She is a Spencer first, and Spencer’s do not betray their own.

Brooke: I'm sure she doesn't see it as a betrayal.

Bill: She talked your son into telling his sister about something that never happened. Now if she had done what I asked...

Brooke: You don't understand why she couldn't.

Bill: She went against my express wishes, and that is totally unacceptable.

Brooke: (Sighs) Look, I understand that you're upset, but Caroline's heart was in the right place.

Bill: It's not her heart that I'm concerned about. It's her loyalty. And nobody does something against my family without there being repercussions, especially when that person is a Spencer.

Katie: Look, it's gonna be okay. Bill is gonna be upset, but once you explain...

Caroline: I did exactly what he didn't want me to do.

Katie: That's true. (Chuckles) But you wanted Hope to know the truth.

Caroline: But you would, too, right? If you would have known.

Katie: Well, Bill decided not to share that information with me. Probably because of everything I've been through. But yes, as Hope's aunt, I... understand why you feel so strongly about this. And now that Hope and Liam know the truth, it makes me wonder how that might affect them.

Steffy: You really think you can get Liam back?

Hope: I don't know.

Steffy: Look, I know it's tempting to think something's changed.

Hope: The truth changes everything, Steffy. You know, something that I thought about Liam never happened.

Steffy: You didn't trust Liam. You believed your brother.

Hope: Yes, I did.

Steffy: And now he moved on, like you told him, with me.

Hope: I know you'd like this not to make a difference, but I think that's up to Liam. Don't you?

Brooke: I really think you're overreacting.

Bill: All I'm trying to do is protect Liam.

Brooke: And Caroline thinks she's doing that, too.

Bill: She's wrong. And besides that, you changed your mind about Liam and Hope. Wh--wh--what's different?

Brooke: Realizing that they weren't the cause of their problems.

Bill: Steffy is better for Liam, and they're together now.

Brooke: Maybe it'll work out that way. Maybe it won't. But the point is, it's not up to us. They need to figure out what's best for them.

Bill: We can't do it for 'em?

Brooke: No, we can't.

Bill: How about a little advice our counsel?

Brooke: I don't think that would be welcomed.

Bill: When has that ever stopped me?

Brooke: (Sighs) Seriously, Stallion, haven't you learned your lesson yet? Liam is a grown man. He needs to live his own life.

Bill: And you're okay with Hope jumping back on board that roller coaster?

Brooke: It is out of my hands.

Bill: (Sighs)

Brooke: Look, I know you want to control this situation, but you can't. If you do, you're going to lose Liam, and maybe even more.

Bill: Is there something else going on, Brooke, that you haven't told me?

Steffy: You think you'd be with Liam now if your brother hadn't convinced Othello to lie?

Hope: Rick should not have gotten involved, and he knows what he did was wrong.

Steffy: Thanks to Caroline. She pushed him to come clean.

Hope: Don't blame Caroline for this. She's not the one who lied.

Steffy: I'm thinking more of her uncle. Bill won't be pleased. He'll feel that she betrayed the family when he finds out what she's done.

Caroline: I'm sure Steffy's not gonna be much happier with me than my uncle.

Katie: Listen, why don't you let me handle Bill. If he starts pushing you around, I'll push back. I think it was a good thing...  

(Door opens)

Katie: That you got Rick to go to his sister. I really do.

Rick: Me, too. Hi.

Caroline: How are you?

Rick: Hello.

Caroline: Hi.

Rick: I know you're disappointed in me, so go ahead, let me have it. I deserve it.

Katie: Yes, you do deserve it, but thanks to Caroline, you took responsibility, so I guess you're off the hook.

Caroline: No, Rick would have done the right thing on his own. That's the kind of man he is.

Rick: Hey, thank you.

Caroline: Mm-hmm.

Rick: So I take it Bill's not here?

Caroline: I wanted him to hear it from me first.

Rick: That's why I'm here. I didn't want you facing him alone.

Katie: So what exactly did you tell Hope? I mean, does she know about what happened in Italy?

Caroline: No.

Rick: Look, we're keeping his name out of it. We don't want to jeopardize his relationship with his son.

Caroline: I'm hoping that it'll show Uncle Bill my loyalty to the family. Is that just wishful thinking?

Bill: So what else don't I know? I suppose your daughter ran straight for Liam?

Brooke: You couldn't expect Hope to keep it from him, bill. They would be husband and wife now if it weren't for--

Bill: Listen, I-I don't want to hear that. All right? I'm--I'm sorry. I--your daughter is wrong for my son. And now Liam knows everything.

Brooke: Well, there's something else I think you should know. Hope kissed Liam. When she learned the truth, something awakened inside of her, and she realized she wants Liam back, and she's willing to fight for him.

Bill: And you're okay with that?

Brooke: Stephanie always says you cannot dictate your children's lives.

Bill: Liam is with Steffy now. I don't want his life thrown back into chaos, Brooke.

Brooke: I don't want chaos for any of them, but Liam is just learning the information right now. I think we have to let it play out.

Bill: Caroline shouldn't have pushed this. All hell is gonna break loose.

Rick: Wherever your uncle is, it seems like he's taking his sweet time about it, so, um... we got a lot to do back at Forrester before the showdown.

Caroline: I really want to be the one to tell my uncle. No, you're right. We can't just push everything aside.

Will: (Crying)

Katie: Oh... (Chuckles) It looks like my little guy needs a changing. So you're welcome to wait for Bill if you want. Otherwise, I'll see you later, all right?

Caroline: Okay.

Rick: All right. Yeah.

Katie: Bye, Hon.

Caroline: What do you think?

Rick: We should go.

Caroline: I just gotta grab my purse.

Rick: Okay.

Will: (Crying)

Steffy: Why did you kiss Liam?

Hope: You know why.

Steffy: You can't turn back the clock, Hope. He will always have feelings for you, but coming on to him will not make him forget what he has with me. We're connected. We're living together. He's happy and fulfilled. Isn't that what you've always wanted for Liam?

Rick: I thought we were gonna get out of here.

Caroline: Uh... (Sighs) No, you go ahead. I'm gonna stay and wait for my uncle.

Rick: You sure you want to do this?

Caroline: I mean, he's gonna find out anyway, so its better he hear it from me. I mean, how mad can he be at his own niece?

Rick: (Chuckles)

[Bill remembering]

Bill: I saw my son headed for a life filled with nothing but regret. So I threw roadblocks in front of him. But I lost sight of what was most important to me... You. You, Katie. Nothing I have, nothing I am means anything without you. I screwed up. I screwed up big-time. I got you so upset, I sent you into labor. I almost lost you. I was trying to protect Liam, but that's no excuse. I can be better. A better husband, a better father. I can be a better man, Katie.

Katie: Everything okay?

Bill: Been better.

Katie: Where have you been?

Bill: Looking for Caroline.

Katie: Oh. Well, coincidentally, she was just here looking for you. Listen, I know about Rick's lie and the fact that Caroline encouraged him to go to Hope. I'm guessing that you know about that, too.

Bill: Yep.

Katie: Did Liam tell you?

Bill: Brooke tipped me off.

Katie: Hmm.

Bill: How could Caroline not realize how volatile this is? The kind of trouble that it could create for the family, for me? I guess she just didn't give a damn.

Katie: Listen, I know you don't believe this, but Caroline getting Rick to go to Hope, it's actually a good thing.

Bill: A good thing? Really?

Katie: Yes.

Bill: Good for whom? Your niece maybe. Not for my son. The last thing he needs is that girl messing with his head again.

Katie: She's not doing that.

Bill: That's exactly what she's doing. The second that she finds out that Liam and Steffy didn't make out the night before the wedding, she bolts straight for Liam.

Katie: All right, calm down. Do you really think you need that?

Bill: This is why I didn't want Caroline going to Hope or prodding her boyfriend to. Because doors that were closed that needed to stay closed are open again. And the fallout from... I was afraid this would encourage Hope to think she still had a chance with Liam. And that's exactly what's happened.

Katie: Who's to say she doesn't have a chance with Liam? Bill, I know you don't like my niece, but Hope and Liam are adults. For God's sake, let them live their own lives.

Hope: You know that all I want is Liam's happiness.

Steffy: Then let him be happy.

Hope: With you?

Steffy: It's not impossible, you know. I can be what he needs.

Hope: Maybe.

Steffy: Mmm. So you're not backing off?

Hope: Uh, would you if the roles were reversed? I think you'd run straight to him.

Steffy: I'm not saying he shouldn't know the truth, Hope. He does now.

Hope: And I should just pretend like he and I weren't robbed of the life we should have had? Just let him go?

Steffy: I thought that's what you were starting to do.

Hope: Well, that's when I thought I didn't have a choice. Now I do.

Steffy: Hope--

Hope: Liam and I would be together right now if it weren't for a lie.

Steffy: No, you were the one who ended things, Hope. He even went to you and said nothing happened between us the night before the wedding. You didn't believe him. You didn't trust him.

Hope: And I've apologized for that.

Steffy: Do you have any idea how hurt he was when you wouldn't listen to him?

Hope: (Sighs)

Steffy: You turned your back on him, and you pushed him away. You shoved him into my arms, and now that he's there, I'm holding on tight.

Hope: Of course you are. I don't expect you to just hand him over to me. You wouldn't do that. I did that, but you wouldn't. I have lost a lot of ground because of what Rick did. And right now, you have the power. But I'm not giving up, Steffy. That's all I'm saying.

Steffy: (Scoffs) Why are you doing this? It's always so messed up with you two. There's always something in the way.

Hope: Or someone.

Steffy: Fine. I admit it. In the past, I didn't play fair. But you can't accuse me of that anymore.

Hope: I'm not. I don't think that you've manipulated your way back into Liam's life or his house.

Steffy: His bed. That's where we were, Hope, when he told me you kissed him.

Katie: (Sighs) Listen, I know you're frustrated. Another drink isn't gonna help.

Bill: Where did Caroline go?

Katie: Promise me you're not gonna come down on her.

Bill: How do you not get this? She betrayed me, Katie.

Katie: She protected you.

Bill: Protected me?

Katie: Yes. She did not tell Hope that you brought Deacon to Italy. She protected your relationship with your son. If that doesn't prove her loyalty, than--

Will: (Crying)

Katie: (Sighs) He's hungry. I'm gonna go feed him. I won't be long.

Rick: I can stick around if you'd like.

Caroline: Think I'm scared to talk to my uncle? Maybe a little. (Laughs)

Rick: (Chuckles)

Caroline: I've heard stories.

Rick: Well, the guy's got a temper.

Caroline: He'll be mad. Warned us to keep quiet.

Rick: But we never said anything about all that stuff he pulled in Italy.

Caroline: Exactly. It shows my loyalty. Don't worry. I can handle my Uncle Bill. (Chuckles)

Bill: (Sighs)

Hope: Well, you and Liam are living together. I assumed it wasn't platonic.

Steffy: I'm just saying.

Hope: I know--I know you want me to respect your relationship, but here's what I'll do. I won't resort to lies or tricks, but I won't step aside. Those days are over.

Steffy: And this means what? We go through another generation of Logan women stealing men from my family?

Hope: Steffy, that is not what happened.

Steffy: Oh, please. Your mom flaunting her sexuality...

Hope: Oh...

Steffy: Using her female tricks to take my dad away from my mom. And now you're following in her footsteps.

Hope: I am not my mother. I'm my own woman.

Steffy: I should be worried?

Hope: Don't underestimate what I have to offer Liam. No, I'm not gonna be running around in my underwear, because that's not who I am. But I'm not gonna bow out quietly. I will fight for him, because I believe in what he and I could have. The choice is Liam's.

Steffy: Liam's made his choice.

Katie: Hi. Come on in.

Brooke: Hi. Is this a bad time?

Katie: No. I just, uh, got through feeding Will.

Brooke: Is Bill here?

Katie: He was. He's not in a very good mood, but I'm sure you must know that.

Brooke: He told you.

Katie: Yes. And what he didn't tell me, Caroline filled me in.

Brooke: Caroline's here?

Katie: She was. She wanted to see Bill face-to-face, but I guess she couldn't wait.

Brooke: I'm guessing she wanted to tell him why she went against his wishes.

Katie: She wasn't being disloyal. She just values honesty.

Brooke: Oh, I know. And I was trying to get Bill to see that.

Katie: I bet you got about as far as I did.

Brooke: (Sighs) Where is he now?

Katie: I don't know. Will was crying, so I went upstairs, and... I'm just glad Caroline left when she did, because the mood he's in, I wouldn't want them to come face-to-face.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Caroline: Uncle Bill...

Bill: You betrayed me.
