Bill: So you've unilaterally decided that honesty is the best policy.

Rick: I lied to my sister. I had my reasons.

Bill: And now you have suddenly developed morals, huh? Gee, I wonder why that is, "Romeo."

Rick: Does it really matter what my motives are for doing the right thing?

Bill: This is not a Cub Scout meeting. There is no right thing. That's the high school equivalent of Santa Claus. Your motives are all that matter. See, when you lied to Hope, you could say that you were looking out for her best interest. But now you want to untell the lie simply so you can suck up to my niece over here. Wow. That's your version of taking the high road, "Dudley Do-Right"?

Caroline: Yes, telling the truth does score points, but why wouldn't I prefer to be with a man who will show me who he really is to one that would do anything to hide it? And Liam might feel the same way. So it’s better that he hear it from you why Hope's father really showed up in Italy than he should hear it from us.

Hope: Did I say too much?

Liam: You can say anything to me. You always could.

Hope: Well, sometimes I say the wrong thing.

Liam: You see me holding a grudge?

Hope: I'm just letting you know how I feel. And I'm not asking you to do anything. But when I think about my life, I know that I am supposed to spend it with you, and I can't help believing that I will. I have no idea how. (Chuckles)

Liam: (Sighs)

Hope: I know you're happy with Steffy. I know you are. And I don't want you to be unhappy. I don't. But I just have this belief, and maybe it doesn't make any sense, that you are the person I'm meant to be with. You're the person I'm meant to share my life with.

Thomas: (Sighs)

Steffy: What are you trying to work off?

Thomas: (Sighs)

Taylor: Hi, Sweetie. Oh.

Thomas: Hi, Mom. Mwah.

Taylor: Mwah.

Steffy: Seriously, Thomas, have you ever seen Dad out here half-dressed for the whole workplace to see?

Thomas: Yeah, on weekends.

Steffy: Okay, but he did that when nobody was around, and you are C.E.O.

Taylor: Uh, would you like to have lunch with us? Your sister was looking for you also.

Thomas: For what? Yeah, yeah, I-I have time for lunch.

Steffy: Well, I-I have proofs from the art department. They need to go to print. I would give it to you, but you are all sweaty.

Thomas: All right, stick around. Have something to eat with us.

Steffy: Uh, you know, I would, but Liam's waiting for me.

Thomas: Here? Just invite him.

Steffy: You know what? Maybe I will stay for lunch. He's got some business he's been putting off.

Hope: You don't have to say anything.

Liam: Uh, you know, I-I think I do, uh, 'cause I've been... (Chuckles) I've really been trying to give up this... dream of us.

Hope: I know. And I understand that. I do.

Liam: Yeah, yeah, I can't say it's really working. I mean, if you would have asked me, uh, yesterday or the day before, I-I would have said, "Oh, yeah, you know, it's getting easier every day." But standing here with you right now, that's not really true, either.

Bill: So what's the name of this little game show, "Let's make a threat"?

Caroline: I'm sorry you're hearing it that way.

Bill: How else am I supposed to hear it?

Brooke: I don't think anybody's trying to make a threat. They're just saying, don't Hope and Liam have a right to know?

Rick: Thank you.

Caroline: Exactly. It's information that they didn't have, and without it, they were making decisions in the dark.

Bill: And where exactly does this "Right to know" end? Who has perfect knowledge every time they make a crucial decision about the future, which some of us do every day? So you want to try and hold me responsible for the demise of a relationship that was never meant to be in the first place? Well, that ain't gonna happen.

Thomas: Why do these look so industrial?

Steffy: It's the contrast-- the elegant flowing lines of the gown against the starkness of the concrete and the steel.

Thomas: Okay.

Steffy: What, you don't like it?

Thomas: No, they're okay. I mean, they're more your style than mine.

Taylor: Oh. I think they're very elegant.

Steffy: I'm just following your command, Thomas.

Taylor: Can we put all this away and just eat?

Thomas: Okay, I know you probably resent that Dad installed me as C.E.O.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Steffy: What?

Thomas: You've put just as much time in at Forrester as I have. More to the point, you haven't made an epic fail of anything you were given to do.

Taylor: Thomas, don't do that.

Steffy: Wow, I thought you knew me better than that. If I was ticked off about Dad's decision, then you would know. I don't need to be in charge. I just want to do work that satisfies me and have the authority to get it done.

Thomas: Really? Since when? You've always been ambitious even if I wasn't.

Steffy: Yes, I still am. I'm just--I'm happy with my life right now. I have no desire to work too hard and I--that I can't enjoy it.

Hope: Does this conversation feel dangerous?

Liam: No. (Chuckles) No, it feels like we tried really hard, and it went the way it went, and the worst that could happen already did.

Hope: It's nice to be able to relate to you in a new way. You know, it's--it's honest, but it's different than before-- not expecting or demanding.

Liam: Yeah. Yeah. You think we'll still be friends?

Hope: I think... we'll always be connected to each other.

Liam: Yeah, that is-- that's what they say, isn't it? I mean, you never forget your first love.

Hope: (Sighs) What if... what if we're not done? What if we just got together at the wrong time, and the time we were supposed to get together hasn't happened yet?

Liam: Wow. Um... H-Hope, I-I don't-- I don't know how to answer that.

Hope: How do you want to answer that? It's fine. Don't worry about it. Uh, you needed things to happen this way. You had the attraction to Steffy, and you needed to know where it would lead.

Liam: I knew... (Scoffs) I knew where it would lead. It... would lead somewhere comfortable. I'm not-- I always knew that. I mean, Steffy's been a-amazing to me. She's been patient and trusting. And anything that I feel or--or want to say or do, she's totally cool with it. But, um... it's not really what I always wanted. She knows that, and you know that. I mean, it-- we don't need to rehash it, but I don't think we need to lose sight of it, either. I mean, this isn't about fate, Hope, and it's not about me choosing Steffy over you. You said "No."

Rick: I can't believe that you're gonna stand there and act all innocent after the way you stacked the deck against Hope and Liam.

Bill: I don't concede that at all.

Rick: Of course not.

Caroline: Uncle Bill! You got Hope's father out of prison and secretly flew him to Italy.

Bill: And what if had just shown up on his own? What if I said, "Hey, Hope, here's a surprise for you on your wedding day"? What difference would that have made? None. Hope still would have been late to the church, and Liam would have turned to Steffy for comfort, because that's what he always does.

Caroline: Oh, come on. Liam thinking he got left at the altar is way different than just wondering why his bride was late.

Brooke: She wouldn't have been late if it weren't for Deacon.

Bill: So you blame me, too?

Brooke: (Sighs) Hasn't enough blame gone around for everybody? What good does this really do now?

Steffy: Why don't we rent, like, a sappy Christmas movie this weekend?

Thomas: Please not the one about the angels earning their wings.

Steffy: We can invite Liam. We'll be there. You can invite Thorne.

Taylor: Oh, no. No, he pretty much likes to be the king of his own castle.

Thomas: (Chuckles)

Taylor: (Chuckles)

Steffy: Okay. We'll go his way. What? Somebody's gotta light a fire under that romance.

Taylor: I don't need help with my love life.

Steffy: Okay, whatever you call it.

Thomas: You know what? Being disgustingly happy makes you obnoxious. You know, why don't you find Liam? I'm sure he's done with his other business by now.

Steffy: Maybe, maybe not. He's with Hope. What? Do not give me that look, Thomas. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do, just body-block her every time she "Happens" to see him? I'm sure they have to say things to each other, and its better that they say it now and just be done with it.

Thomas: (Sighs) I can't tell if you sound incredibly mature or incredibly reckless. Mom?

Taylor: Hmm? Oh, I'm sorry. Did you forget? What is the number one rule at mealtime?

Steffy: Rule number one-- Mother is not Judge Judy.

Taylor: Thank you.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Thomas: (Sighs)

Hope: You're absolutely right. It was not fate or bad luck. We both made the only decisions that we could make when we made them.

Liam: Yeah, I guess, uh, except... I-I'll tell you what, man. I've never met your dad, but if... (Scoffs) If I ever do, I would really want to kick his ass.

Hope: (Laughs)

Liam: (Sighs)

Hope: I couldn't blame you. (Laughs)

Liam: Well, I mean, think about it. If he--if he hadn't shown up in Puglia, things would be very different right now.

Hope: I'm really glad that we had this talk.

Liam: Yeah. Yeah. Uh, really? Are you? Really, do you feel like this settled anything? Because I don't. (Sighs)

Hope: I think that it's going to make things a lot easier next time we see each other and the time after that.

Liam: Uh-huh. Is that-- is that what we're going for? We want it to be easier? We want to... forget what we lost?

Hope: We want it to be bearable, don't we?

Liam: Yeah. You look really great, by the way.

Hope: (Chuckles)

Liam: And you never could take a compliment.

Hope: (Laughs) (Chuckles)

Brooke: I used to think Hope and Liam were meant for each other, and now I'm not so sure, because every time something goes wrong, Liam runs to Steffy. And Hope is too young to know that marriage isn't medicine. It doesn't cure everything. I made that mistake too many times. So I think the best thing to do is just to let them figure it out.

Caroline: But they don't know what's real. Hope still thinks that Liam cheated on her.

Bill: Because of your boyfriend's lie. Look, I may have meant to keep Liam from marrying the wrong girl, but that didn't happen, did it? They said their "I dos." In fact, I welcomed Hope into the family with open arms. It wasn't until the next go-around that everything fell apart, because of this clown's behavior, not mine.

Caroline: You can honestly stand there and claim that you did nothing wrong?

Bill: That's not what I said, so don't put words in my mouth. I own that I betrayed my son by not keeping my promise to stop interfering in his life. And you know this, why? Because you were eavesdropping, Miss "Holier than thou." And now you want to be the heroine and potentially sever the relationship that I have built with my son.

Caroline: No, Liam loves you. I don't believe that--

Bill: You don't know him. Look, you're not hearing me. Liam and Hope aren't married because that's how things fall with them. Now you want to try and play this song again? Well, it's not gonna help anyone. Well, that's not true. You may be helping yourself by assuaging your guilt at your sister's expense.

Rick: (Scoffs)

(Elevator bell dings)

Rick: (Sighs)

Caroline: (Sighs) Glad to be getting back to our offices.

Rick: Now I'm not sure what to do anymore, not after that conversation.

Caroline: Maybe I was naive. There's just so much more to think about than I even realized.

Rick: What about Hope?

Caroline: I don't know, because if she gets any sadder or lonelier, I don't really see how I can stand by and say nothing.

Rick: But what if Liam and Steffy are really meant to be together? What's that gonna do to my sister? (Sighs)

(Elevator bell dings)

(Cell phone rings) (Ring)

Steffy: Hey.

Liam: I had to come back to the office. Where did you disappear?

Steffy: Hope was looking like she wanted to talk and so were you. How did it go?

Liam: You know, okay.

Steffy: So things may be a little less awkward?

Liam: Yeah, maybe. (Sighs)

(Telephone rings)

Liam: Uh, hey, listen, I-I-I gotta get this. I'll see you at home?

Steffy: You can count on it. I love your face.

(Ring)

Liam: Okay. Yeah?

Hope: (Chuckles)

Bill: So do you think I'm a terrible person?

Brooke: Do I have to decide right now?

Bill: Right now.

Brooke: Would you be terribly disappointed if I were to say "No"?

Bill: No, actually, that works with my theory.

Brooke: What theory is that?

Bill: That any woman who sees me naked can't completely hate my guts.

Brooke: (Laughs) So ridiculous.

Bill: (Chuckles) What's so funny?

Brooke: I don't know. I-I-I'm just so comfortable with people who like themselves, and you certainly have mastered that.

Bill: Not to mention the fact that I can pilot a hot air balloon.

Brooke: Oh, right. That is a practical skill.

Bill: Well, sure it is, particularly if you're lost in the woods with nothing but a hot air balloon.

Brooke: (Chuckles)

Bill: I'm your man.

Brooke: And what if I'm lost in the woods under an evil spell?

Bill: Happens all the time.

Brooke: Not for us, Bill. Yes, there was that kiss, and I'm not in agonies of guilt over it, but the circumstances have changed.

Bill: Yes, they have. But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't nice.

Brooke: Yeah. It was lovely. But it was a unicorn, the last of its kind. It was magical... but never to be spoken of again.
