Stephanie: (Coughs)
Brooke: (Sighs) (Chuckles) You look good.
Stephanie: Liar, liar, pants on fire.
Brooke: I'm happy to see you.
Stephanie: I'm happy to see you.
Brooke: Thank you... for letting me be here.
Stephanie: No tears.
Brooke: Okay.
Stephanie: (Coughs) Okay, good. (Sighs)
Steffy: Old-fashioned folders-- nice touch, bro.
Thomas: I was gonna go with, uh, high-tech individual tablets, but I didn't think it was gonna help my case.
Steffy: Mm-hmm.
Thomas: Why do I smell pineapple and coconuts?
Steffy: What? Oh. Oh! Oh, my gosh. I still have my sunscreen on. I-I went for a walk on the beach this morning.
Thomas: The beach?
Steffy: Yes.
Thomas: Does that mean that...
Steffy: Did I move back in with Liam? Yeah, I did.
Thomas: Cool. So I get your loft.
Steffy: No, you don't. We're keeping it.
Thomas: (Sighs)
Steffy: We just, you know, need a crash pad in the city, and I don't want to get ahead of myself. I just want to, you know, really hold on to my independence. At least we're able to move forward.
Thomas: But the two of you are good, right?
Steffy: Honestly, couldn't be better.
Thomas: All right. Well, I'm glad to hear it. I need you in a good mood today. I'm counting on your support in the meeting.
Steffy: You got it.
Thomas: (Sighs) Yep, definitely gonna need it.
Katie: (Groans)
(Heartbeat thumping)
Katie: Please, please just get out of here.
Taylor: I'm not leaving.
Katie: Let me die alone.
Taylor: You're not dying.
Katie: Oh, my heart feels like it's gonna explode. (Gasps)
Taylor: Katie. Katie! You're going to be okay.
Katie: No, no, I'm not. (Breathing heavily)
Taylor: Katie, you are not dying.
Katie: Oh, God. (Gasping)
Taylor: Katie, I-I'm calling an ambulance.
Katie: Please just get out of here! (Breathing heavily) (Sighs) (Sniffles) I can't live like this anymore.
Taylor: You don't have to. That's why I'm here-- to help you get better.
Katie: My heart is defective.
Taylor: Come on.
Katie: Please just go. Please just leave me alone.
Taylor: No, we're going to the hospital, Katie.
Katie: No, I want to die here. Leave me alone. No.
Taylor: No. Come on. Come with me. No. You are not going to die here. If you're going to die, you're going to die in the hospital. Now let's go. Come on.
Thorne: Oh, okay.
Marcus: So dad is on his way?
Rick: Yeah, he called from the car.
Thorne: I really hate that--that we had to ask him, because I know he just wants to be with mother.
Rick: Well, let's just hope that this doesn't take too long.
Marcus: Well, Thomas is ready when we are, guys, so let's get ready.
Thorne: Let's just hope dad gets here before the vote.
Rick: (Sighs)
Caroline: Hey, you did the right thing calling your dad.
Rick: Thank you for the support.
Caroline: Mm-hmm. You've been very supportive of me and my line, and I know that hasn't been easy with you and Thomas not seeing eye to eye.
Rick: Well, I want you to have your line. I want this company to succeed for generations to come. But we gotta do it the Forrester way, not the Thomas way. And that's where my dad comes in.
Eric: Pam?
Pam: Oh, Eric.
Eric: (Sighs)
Pam: How's Steph?
Eric: She's, uh, she's... (sighs)
Pam: She's not good, is she?
Eric: No. No. Pam, I'm sorry.
Pam: (Sighs)
Eric: Now look, I need to get into this meeting. I want to get back to her as soon as I can.
Pam: No, I understand, Eric, but I want you to tell me where she is.
Stephanie: It's important for Eric, you know, to--to go into the office. (Sighs) Oh.
Brooke: Yes. He didn't want to leave. You know that.
Stephanie: I know, but he's--
Brooke: He said he'll be back as soon as possible.
Stephanie: I--it's important for him, because it's for the company, and I-I don't want him to be irrelevant. He's gonna needs the boys, and the boys are going to need him. Do you know what I mean?
Brooke: Oh, yeah. I know. I know. Eric told me.
Stephanie: And--okay. Okay. (Sighs) I'm happy you're here.
Brooke: Me, too.
Stephanie: Okay. (Sighs) (Coughs) (Sighs)
(Elevator bell dings)
Katie: (Sighs)
Woman: Can I help you?
Taylor: Yes, um, I'm Dr. Hayes. I'm meeting Dr. Caspary and Dr. Meade in a few moments. Uh, this is my patient Katie Spencer. She's a heart transplant patient. And, uh, she's not feeling very well right now.
Woman: Okay. We're, uh, prepping a room.
Taylor: Okay.
Katie: (Sighs) I can't be here.
Taylor: It's okay, Katie. We're just getting some tests run.
Katie: I--I-I can't. I can't. I can't. I can't be here. I have to go.
Taylor: It's okay. Just please calm down.
Dr. Caspary: Katie.
Dr. Meade: Dr. Hayes.
Taylor: Yes, hi.
Dr. Caspary: Tell us what's going on.
Katie: I can't breathe. I can't breathe. Please.
Woman: Doctor, here.
Katie: (Gasping)
Rick: Why would we invest millions of dollars into this--this fantasy of yours?
Thomas: Like I said, there are going to be up-front costs.
Caroline: Huge ones, I think--setting up the central warehouses, installing the new technology.
Thorne: Thomas, you're talking a total company overhaul.
Thomas: Yeah. That's what we need.
Rick: (Scoffs)
Thomas: My father didn't put me in this position to sit around and do nothing.
Rick: You're interim C.E.O., Thomas. You don't have the authority to make multimillion dollar changes like this.
Steffy: Guys, come on. We need to update our image. It's like we are stuck in the '90s.
Marcus: It is 2012, gentlemen, okay, and we need to play with the big guns. It starts now.
Thomas: Time to make big changes.
Rick: Yeah? Well, let's see what my father has to say about that.
Pam: She's my sister, Eric. I want to be with her.
Eric: I know.
Pam: I want to hold her hand. (Sighs)
Eric: I know how hard this is for you, Pam. I know you want to be with her.
Pam: Rick told me Brooke's with her.
Eric: I didn't want to leave her alone.
Pam: (Sighs)
Eric: Pam, I didn't want to leave her alone. Uh, but I'm here. She insisted that I come to this meeting.
Pam: Why didn't you call me? I would have gone up to be with her.
Eric: It's because we need you here.
Pam: Come on.
Eric: Pam, we can't run this business without you. You know that. Look, you know your sister. She doesn't want to be a burden.
Pam: I want to take care of her.
Eric: I know you do. So do I, but I can't. I can't even believe I'm here, but she insisted I be here.
Pam: She is so stubborn. She's just like mother.
Eric: Yeah.
Pam: (Sighs) (Sobs)
Eric: She knows you love her.
Pam: Oh, God.
Eric: And she loves you, too, Pam. She loves you.
Pam: Yeah. She loves me so much... that she doesn't want me to remember her this way. (Sighs)
Eric: Right.
Pam: (Sobs)
Eric: That's right. That's exactly right. That's exactly right.
Stephanie: (Coughs)
Brooke: So you're comfortable, right? (Chuckles) Dumb question.
Stephanie: No, I'm fine. I'm fine.
Brooke: You'll let me know if there's anything you need? 'Cause I'm here for whatever you may want. You might as well take advantage.
Stephanie: (Coughs) While I'm still alive. (Chuckles)
Brooke: (Chuckles)
Stephanie: (Coughs) Okay, I will. (Chuckles) (Coughs) (Grunts) (Sighs)
Brooke: Big Bear.
Stephanie: Huh.
Brooke: Wow. So many things have happened up here in this cabin.
Stephanie: (Sighs) Yeah. A long road.
Brooke: Yeah. It's quite a journey we've taken.
Stephanie: (Sighs) And here we are at the end-- so strange-- together.
Stephanie: (Sighs)
Brooke: (Sighs)
Stephanie: (Groans)
(Monitor beeping rapidly)
Katie: (Sighs)
Dr. Caspary: Have them order a full Chem panel and a CK-MB.
Woman: Yes, doctor.
Dr. Meade: Pulse is tachycardic. B.P. hypertensive-- 161 over 97.
Taylor: That's in the normal range for a heart transplant patient, right?
Dr. Meade: Well, it can be. Her temperature's slightly elevated.
Dr. Caspary: How are you feeling, Katie?
Katie: I feel like I'm having a heart attack, like I'm dying.
Taylor: This could be anxiety related.
Dr. Meade: We should know more once we get your blood results back whether or not you're in any kind of danger of going into cardiac arrest.
(Heartbeat thumping)
Katie: (Sighs) This is a waste of time. I just--I just want to go home. (Breathing heavily)
Taylor: That apartment is not your home. Your home is with Bill and your baby. I'm not leaving here until we find out that everything is fine, and you see for yourself that there's nothing wrong with you.
Katie: You heard the doctors.
Taylor: You have postpartum depression, Katie.
Katie: Stop saying that.
Taylor: You are listening to every fear you hear in your mind.
Katie: (Breathing heavily)
Taylor: You've had a temporary lapse in judgment. You've lost yourself, but you have a husband and a baby that need you back at home. You're not going to die.
(Heartbeat thumping)
Thorne: I don't think you have a choice but to put the brakes on this, Thomas.
Marcus: Uh, I don't know about that, man. I mean, things are already happening. The ball is rolling.
Thorne: (Scoffs)
Thomas: Listen, have you seen Caroline's designs?
Rick: Yes. Of course I have. And they're excellent. See, Thomas, the designs aren't the issue. It's your vision. It's a 180. It's a complete departure from everything that Forrester stands for.
Thomas: Well, I happen to have a signed proxy from my mother for the shares she votes. She's with me. I'm voting my dad's stock, so I'm ready to take this company forward.
Eric: Everyone.
Rick: Dad.
Thorne: Dad, thanks for coming.
Marcus: Hey, Dad. How's Stephanie doing?
Pam: He needs to get back to her.
Eric: Let's make this quick.
Stephanie: Tell me the truth. Do I look as bad as I feel? (Coughs)
Brooke: No. Of course not.
Stephanie: Are you lying again?
Brooke: (Giggles) No, I'm not lying.
Stephanie: (Sighs) Oh.
Brooke: Does that feel better?
Stephanie: Mm. Mm.
Brooke: Yeah?
Stephanie: It tastes good, too.
Brooke: Your lips were a little bit dry.
Stephanie: Okay. Thank you. (Coughs) Brooke? Brooke?
Brooke: I'm right here. (Sighs)
Stephanie: Oh.
Brooke: (Chuckles) It’s okay.
Stephanie: (Sighs)
Brooke: I have a brush.
Stephanie: Oh.
Brooke: And I am going to make you so pretty.
Stephanie: (Chuckles)
Brooke: (Chuckles)
Stephanie: Did you used to brush Hope's hair?
Brooke: Oh, yes. Many, many times.
Stephanie: She like it?
Brooke: Yeah, she did. She loved it.
Stephanie: (Sighs) I bet. It feels good.
Brooke: I'm glad. Oh. Oh, there's one more thing. I'll be right back, okay?
Stephanie: Okay.
Brooke: Okay. Ta-da!
Stephanie: Oh.
Brooke: (Laughs)
Stephanie: You silly head.
Brooke: You like the wear this. Let's see if we can do this. I'll try to be very, very careful.
Stephanie: Don't prick the main artery.
Brooke: (Chuckles) Or my thumb.
Stephanie: Ooh.
Brooke: There we go.
Stephanie: Oh, honey.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Stephanie: What would I do without you?
Brooke: You're beautiful.
Stephanie: Oh. (Sighs)
Katie: (Sighs) Why--why did you bring me here? Nothing can save me. (Breathing heavily)
Taylor: Katie, calm down.
Katie: I am powerless over this. We are all powerless over this.
Taylor: Stop.
Katie: I can--I can feel it. I can feel it. I could flatline any minute now.
Taylor: Stop it.
Katie: I can't stand this anymore! I can't stand this anymore! I've got to get out of here! I've got to get out of here!
(Alarm blaring)
Taylor: Katie. Katie.
Katie: I'm going home!
Dr. Caspary: Katie! Katie!
Katie: Don't touch me.
Dr. Meade: Call the O.R. in case I need to get her into surgery.
(Voices overlapping)
Katie: Damn it, don't touch me! Leave me alone!
Thomas: Granddad, I'm sorry you had to come in here today. Rick really shouldn't have called you.
Rick: I had to, Thomas. It was way too important.
Eric: It's good I'm here. I just don't want to stay very long. Now, Thomas, I understand you want to move ahead with your business plan and that you want to run some kind of a vote today.
Thomas: Well, I think it would be a mistake to wait any longer.
Eric: I was C.E.O. of this company for a very long time, and one of the things I learned was that making impulsive decisions can be a mistake, too.
Thomas: No, I've done the research. I've thought this out.
Rick: Not enough research to make the monumental decisions that you want.
Eric: All right, Rick. All right. Stop.
Thomas: Look, my business plan, it will double our profits within a year, saving us millions of dollars in the long run, plus, give major support to Caroline's cancer foundation.
Eric: You may be onto something here, Thomas, but your job as interim C.E.O. is to maintain the status quo, to run business as usual. It's not to use it as an opportunity to forward your own agenda.
Thomas: Look, I understand that you have a lot on your plate, and you shouldn't be here dealing with this, but, Grandpa, I'm asking you to hear me out.
Eric: I'll listen, but I don't know how much time Stephanie has, and I want to spend every last moment with her.
Thomas: (Sighs)
Brooke: I'm sure Eric's almost finished with his business, and he'll be here really soon. (Chuckles) I'm gonna make some tea, okay?
Stephanie: I'm happy you're here.
Brooke: I needed to see you again. When you left the party, I wasn't ready. I just felt kind of cheated.
Stephanie: I know. That's why I told Eric to call you.
Brooke: Thank you. I'll be right back.
Stephanie: Okay. (Coughing) (Breathing deeply) (Coughing)
Brooke: Stephanie? Oh, my God. Are you all right? Here, wait. Let me give you the oxygen.
Stephanie: (Coughing)
Brooke: What is--medicine. Eric told me if you were coughing to give you a dropper full of this, right? Under your tongue.
Stephanie: (Coughs)
Brooke: Okay. Is that good? Are you all right?
Stephanie: (Coughing)
Brooke: Just breathe. Try to breathe.
Stephanie: (Coughing) (Breathing heavily)
Brooke: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. It's all right. It's gonna be okay. Everything's gonna be all right. Don't worry. (Sighs) Don't worry.
