Eric: Uh, do you know when he left? I see. Well, she-- can you confirm that he got his invitation? Can you tell me that? I see. All right. Well, thank you very much. Merci beaucoup.

Stephanie: What was that about?

Eric: (Sighs) Well, we don't know when Ridge is arriving, and I called the concierge at his flat to find out what she knew.

Stephanie: (Coughing) When they-what'd she say?

Eric: She doesn't know. She hasn't seen him for days. But he'll be here.

(Stephanie coughs)

Eric: He'll be here. There's nothing that could stop him.

Liam: Okay. Thanks. (Sighs) We'll be starting our final descent into the Los Angeles area shortly.

Steffy: They teach them to talk like that in pilot school.

Bill: Should I warm a bottle?

Brooke: Why? He's asleep.

Bill: Didn't you tell me on the way over here that upon descent, if he's not swallowing that it could hurt his ears?

Steffy: I'll get him the bottle.

Bill: Not too hot.

Steffy: I know.

Brooke: Sorry I wasn't thinking.

Bill: You have other things on your mind.

Brooke: I've known Ridge half my life, and suddenly, I don't know how I'm going to react when I see him at Stephanie's.

Bill: Well, he's the one who has the explaining to do, if you ask me.

Brooke: He's going to be devastated. He's very close to his mom. More than any man I've ever known.

Bill: Well, that's the thing, isn't it? A boy can grow up without a father or at least not much of one, as long as he has a mother's love.

Liam: Hey, I happen to know from experience that when the mom isn't around, a father who won't give up is a very good thing.

Steffy: The copilot says it's gonna be sunny and gorgeous in L.A..

(Baby crying)

Katie: Uh, may I-- I speak with Dr. Hayes, please?

(Baby crying)

Katie: Katie Logan.

Taylor: Katie? Where are you calling me from?

Katie: Have you heard anything from Bill or Brooke?

Taylor: Um, yes, as a matter of fact, I do have some news. But, um, give me your number, and I'll call you right back.

Katie: (Sighs) I may not be here.

Taylor: Then how will I be able to reach you?

Katie: Look, if you're with a patient, I can call you back later.

Taylor: No. Katie, look, I understand you have your reasons for wanting to stay in touch with me, but I'm only going do to that on one condition. If you let me know how to contact you.

(Baby crying)

Katie: I'm not telling you where I am, Taylor.

Taylor: Well that's up to you.

Katie: You said you had news?

Taylor: Yes. Bill and Brooke get back from Aspen today.

Katie: Who told you that?

Taylor: My daughter. But I could have told you that before I talked to her, because today is Stephanie's celebration of her life party.

Katie: Oh, right. Brooke wouldn't want to miss that.

Taylor: And neither will Ridge. And they're going to see each other, and they're going to get back together, like they have so many times before.

Katie: I'm not so sure.

Taylor: And when they do, then what, Katie?

Katie: (Sighs)

(Phone rings)

(Baby crying)

Brooke: Sure, the blue dress will be fine. Whatever shoes you think. We're about to land, so I'll talk to you soon.

Bill: I ordered a car for you to make sure you wouldn't be late for Stephanie's party.

Brooke: I'd like to get Will settled in first.

Bill: I think I can handle it. And, I'm not you, but I'm not a complete disaster, am I?

Brooke: (Chuckles) Donna said she'd bring me a dress over to your place so you might as well give the extra car to Liam.

Bill: Well, Ridge might be there already.

Brooke: I'm not the one he came to see.

Stephanie: Honey, aren't you gonna change?

Eric: Change? No, uh, no, I'm not gonna change. You've been trying to get me to change since the first day we got married.

Stephanie: (Laughs) You're so crazy. (Chuckles)

Kristen: Felicia waited for me at the airport so we could come together.

Stephanie: Oh, great.

Felicia: Had a Bloody Mary.

Stephanie: Ohh.

Kristen: It was this big.

Stephanie: (Laughs)

Felicia: You know, Kristen takes after your mother...

Stephanie: (Coughing)

Felicia: Highly passive-aggressive.

Kristen: And Felicia would rather pick a fight with me than trying to figure out what to say to--to you.

Stephanie: Oh, yeah, well, nobody ever really knows what to say to somebody who's dying, the except "I love you."

Felicia: (Sighs) I love you, too. I'll just take these upstairs. Is Ridge in his old room?

Eric: No, he's-- he's not here yet.

Felicia: But he's coming?

Eric: Yes, he's coming. He's just incommunicado at the moment. He's 30,000 feet over the Atlantic.

Kristen: Well, we don't need him to get started, right? Let's get this party under way.

Eric: Yes.

Felicia: Yeah, what can we do to help?

Stephanie: Well, put those bags down. (Coughs) Your father's always telling me how strong he is. He can carry them upstairs. I don't want you girls more than 6 inches off either hip while you're here. (Chuckles)

Felicia: Why do you think we came?

Stephanie: (Sighs) Kristen, um, after the party, uh, your father and I are gonna go away.

Kristen: Away? Where?

Stephanie: Someplace that you can't come after us this time.

Felicia: Mom, are you saying that this is the last time we're ever gonna see you?

Pam: Oh, hi, Girls.

Felicia: Hi, Aunt Pam.

Kristen: Pam.

Pam: Oh, I'm sorry. I should have rung the bell. Should--should I--

Stephanie: Honey, when have you ever rung the bell? (Chuckles)

Pam: (Laughs)

Stephanie: Oh, wait, oh-- is that the string quartet?

Pam: Um, well--

Stephanie: Did I speak to one of you on the phone?

Eric: Uh--uh let me take care all the details. You don't miss a precious moment with these girls, all right?

Felicia: Daddy's right, as always. Come on.

Eric: Pam.

Pam: I-I'm sorry, Eric.

Eric: Don't bring them here. Uh, I'm glad you're here. Look, uh, we're going to go across the way, across the plaza there right in the guesthouse. I'll take you in there.

Pam: (Sighs)

Taylor: Oh, at least you weren't too disappointed not going to Hawaii.

Steffy: No. You know what I liked hanging out with Liam's little brother. And I'm kind of in shock that I'm not that bad with babies.

Taylor: Hmm.

Liam: (Sighs) It must be really hard for my dad to have arrived and--and found Katie's phone, but no Katie. I-- sorry. I'm just- I'm glad we were there for him. That's all.

Steffy: You know, l I-I can't believe I'm actually gonna say this, but, um... Brooke was great. She's great with Bill and the baby, and there was no attitude about Liam and me. I mean, I'm surprised I never asked for a bb gun to shoot down that balloon when she went up.

Taylor: Balloon?

Liam: Yeah, we--we had a little, uh, little mystery on our hands. Somebody arranged this hot air balloon ride for my dad and Brooke. He thinks it was his assistant, but I don't know. That doesn't make sense to me. I mean, think maybe Justin did it to--to cheer him up or--or just somebody who knows him well enough.

Bill: Want me to take over?

Brooke: It's okay. I'm almost done.

Donna: He must have gained a pound or 2 since I've seen him last. (Chuckles)

Bill: He's cute, but he's not the greatest company right now. He pretty much, you know, eats and sleeps.

Donna: Oh. What do you want him to watch football with you or something?

Bill: As a matter of fact, we do watch a little football.

Donna: Oh. (Chuckles)

Bill: Maybe I'm going to go do that right now. Here, let me have him.

Brooke: Oh, okay. Here we go. Up.

Bill: There's my buddy. Hey.

Brooke: There you go.

Bill: Hey.

Brooke: You got him? Bye.

Bill: Just, uh, notice when I took the bags up to the room that Katie left her jewelry, as though I would give a damn about that. Come on, Buddy.

Brooke: (Sighs) Thanks for bringing this by.

Donna: How much of that have you had to listen to?

Brooke: Well, he's hurt. He thought Katie might be here when he got back. Do you have any idea where she is?

Donna: No.

Brooke: What's going on with our sister?

Donna: I don't know. She's not even the-- the same girl that we grew up with. The thing I don't understand is how do you leave a baby like that? Bill, I-I understand that. I-I think she should have left him a long time ago.

Brooke: Donna, he's not the person we thought he was.

Donna: Oh, Brooke. Yeah, I've heard all about his heart of gold from Katie.

Brooke: Well, it's true. He may have his gruff exterior, but down deep, there's really a lot of kindness in his heart.

Eric: Are the others here?

Stephanie: What others?

Eric: Uh...

Stephanie: All right, wait a minute. Are you two plotting against me? Don't tell me you're not. I can see it on your face.

Felicia: There's a conspiracy against Mother, and I wasn't included?

Pam: No, just other guests, Steph. That's what Eric was talking about.

Thorne: Uh-uh-uh, Aunt Pam, they've tried that--

Felicia: Hey.

Kristen: Oh, Thorne, hi.

Thorne: Felicia, Kristen.

Stephanie: (Coughing)

Thorne: Mm. It's good to see ya.

Kristen: Good to see you.

Thorne: Is, uh, is Ridge here yet?

Stephanie: Oh, hey, have you been paying golf? What are you gonna do? Shower and change here?

Kristen: Change?

Felicia: Yeah, Dad said wear comfortable clothes.

Stephanie: What?

Thorne: Informal was the message I got.

Stephanie: What?

Pam: Oh, hi, Ladies, um, this is the man that you're looking for.

Eric: Oh, hello. Good. Let's just go across the plaza.

Stephanie: Wait. Wait. What--hey, Eric. Eric! What--wha--

Pam: Steph, sit down.

Stephanie: (Coughing)

Pam: You're getting all red in the face.

Stephanie: Wait a minute. What's going on here?

Pam: Nothing.

Kristen: Well, apparently, she hasn't lost all her strength.

Felicia: Yeah.

Liam: Uh, well, we should probably get home and change for Stephanie's thing, huh?

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Taylor: Oh, that's right. Stephanie's party. Yeah, um, I gotta do that myself.

Liam: Hey, I'm gonna go downstairs and use the ATM in the lobby before we go.

Steffy: Okay. I will be right behind you.

Taylor: I'm glad you're back home.

Liam: Thank you.

Steffy: Pop quiz: what is the difference between hang gliding and paragliding?

Taylor: I'm guessing a parachute.

Steffy: That's true. That, and the fact that your daughter's done one and not the other. The one with the parachute.

Taylor: You did what?

Steffy: I went with Liam, okay?

Taylor: (Sighs)

Steffy: And you can relax. Look, I just wanted to tell you this now and give you advanced warning if it comes out at the party. So you can have your fainting spell and be done with it, because Grandma is gonna think it is awesome.

Taylor: No, do not tell your grandmother. She'll want to do that next.

Steffy: (Laughs) You know, It's just- it's really strange that we're gonna be losing her, and it's the happiest time of my life.

Taylor: You listen to me. Be grateful for every happy moment you have in your life. You can never have too much of that.

Steffy: Okay.

Taylor: If I could teach that to half the people that come in this office, I'd be out of a job. (Chuckles)

Steffy: (Chuckles) Okay, Mom.

Taylor: Okay. I'll see you up at Grandma's.

Steffy: All right.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Donna: You look gorgeous.

Brooke: Are you sure?

Donna: Yes. I'm--yes, gorgeous.

Brooke: When Ridge first sees me--

Donna: He is gonna sweep you up, and--and everything is just gonna be back to normal again.

Brooke: (Sighs) I don't, Donna.

Bill: Your husband needs his ass kicked.

Donna: Gee, Bill, won't you tell us how you really feel?

Bill: When have I not?

Donna: Are you gonna let him talk about Ridge like that?

Bill: I will talk about people who leave their spouses any damn way I please. But I know tonight is important to you, so how can I help?

(Cell phone rings)

(Rings)

Katie: What do you want?

Taylor: We didn't finish our conversation.

Katie: Yeah, well, maybe you didn't, but I did.

Taylor: I know why you're trying to find out about Brooke and Bill.

Katie: I should never have given you this number.

Taylor: I want to let you know that I'm not going to be used to keep tabs on them and let you know whether or not they went on balloon rides or anything else.

Katie: But they went?

Taylor: Katie, this romance you're trying to engineer between Bill and Brooke, it's--it isn't real. Brooke is probably with Ridge right now. Your husband loves you and only you. You are your son's only mother, today, tomorrow, and forever. You just can't write yourself out of their lives like that.

Katie: I'm hanging up now.

Taylor: Go home, Katie. Your family needs you. They always will. Your baby needs you.

(Baby crying)

(Phone hangs up)

Donna: Well, I'm gonna make sure the nurse has everything she needs, okay?

Brooke: Okay.

Donna: I'll check.

Bill: You look beautiful. And I'm going with you. Hopefully Stephanie won't throw me out.

Brooke: But why?

Bill: Well, instead of talking trash behind Ridge's back, I'll do it to his face.

Brooke: Ah.

Bill: A couple things I might say that you probably wouldn't. And besides that, I know this is a difficult situation of you to walk into alone.

Brooke: You're right.

Bill: So you don't mind?

Brooke: I never thought you could be so thoughtful. (Chuckles) Do you mind if I just leave all my things here till tomorrow? I'm sure Ridge is gonna want to go straight home.

Bill: That's what I would want to do if walked in and Katie was there.

Brooke: Ridge is gonna be grieving for his mom. He'll know that I will understand. I just hope that he looks at me and he says, "Logan, all of the things that we've been through will just fall away," and it'll be the way it's always been.

Stephanie: (Coughing) Why isn't the caterers here?

Pam: Well, that depends upon what you mean by caterer.

Stephanie: Don't you get all slippery on me. And where's the string quartet?

Pam: Well, I--

Eric: Just leave Pam alone. There's not gonna be a string quartet.

Stephanie: What?

Eric: You know, I'd rather lick the pavement than listen to any more chamber music. What are they gonna play for you anyway? Some kind of Mozart requiem?

Stephanie: Maybe. Wh--why would you take away my chamber music?

Eric: Well, that's not all I've taken away. I've cancelled your caterers, too.

Stephanie: Oh, my God. 25 pounds of cracked crab. (Coughs)

Eric: Now clearly, you're all the crabby we need.

Stephanie: (Groans) Why would you do this to me? I planned the party that I wanted, just like I've planned every party that's been in this house.

Eric: Yes, and I've had cracked crab coming out of my ears for years. Now it's my turn.

Stephanie: I'm dying, and it's your turn?

Eric: What are you gonna do? Are you gonna divorce me? You gonna leave me? Ha!

Pam: (Chuckles)

Stephanie: Well, maybe. You know, there's still enough time for a quickie... divorce. (Coughs)

Eric: But there's not. You can have your dying scenario all you want. I'm not gonna get in the way of that, all right? I'll make it as easy as I can. But you have to let me love you the way I want to love you until you go. That's the deal. Take it or leave it.

Stephanie: All right.

Eric: Thank you. And we'll have the cracked crab some other time.

Stephanie: Some other time? This is the last party.

Eric: Maybe even our last night.

Stephanie: I wouldn't count on it. (Chuckles)
