Brooke: Liam! Liam! It's your dad. He won't wake up.

Liam: Oh, my God.

Brooke: Liam, hurry. Liam, help!

(Knock on door)

Rick: (Clears throat) Oh, Dad.

Eric: Try to curb your enthusiasm.

Rick: (Chuckles) Yeah, I was expecting someone else.

Eric: The lovely Caroline?

Rick: Yeah.

Eric: Good for you. We'll catch up at the office.

Rick: No, no, no, no, Dad. Please, come in. I've always got time for you.

Eric: (Chuckles) Well, all right, are you, uh--are you sure?

Rick: Yeah, what you need a handwritten invitation?

Eric: (Sighs)

Rick: I'm sorry. That was a--

Eric: No, no.

Rick: That was a stupid thing to say. Insensitive.

Eric: It's all right. My wife is dying. There's no amount of avoiding the--the subject that's gonna make things any better. Look, I want to tell you something. I am, uh... I'm very, very happy that you've come home to be with the family.

Rick: I'm so sorry, Dad.

Eric: Yeah. (Sighs)

Hope: You look pleased.

Caroline: Oh, it's proofs from the shoot. Do you want to see?

Hope: Sure. It's really nice. You must be really excited.

Caroline: I am.

Hope: Oh, I don't blame you. Caroline by Thomas Forrester...

Caroline: (Chuckles)

Hope: It's gonna be the next big thing. I remember the feeling.

Caroline: Are you upset?

Hope: About what?

Caroline: I mean, Thomas wasn't exactly subtle about his plan to put my line in production over everyone else's.

Hope: (Chuckles) You mean ahead of Hope for the Future, Forrester's folly.

Caroline: No, that isn't true at all. Your collection has given this company great cachet with the younger demographic.

Hope: Yeah, it did. It did. Until I decided to link it with my disastrous personal life. It’s really--it's-- it's no wonder that Thomas wants to push you front and center. You are new and fresh, and with Thomas' commitment, success is guaranteed.

Rick: Dad, I know that you put a brave face on for the world, and you don't need to do that with me. I know what a rough time this is.

Eric: Yeah. Stephanie Forrester-- infuriating woman, exhausting living with her, and I've been in love with her my whole life, even when I wasn't with her, and then this cancer comes back and it was just-- it was shocking. Well, she and I are nothing to dwell on, that were putting all our eggs in the party basket. It's gonna be fun.

Rick: Celebrating life instead of anticipating death.

Eric: Exactly.

Rick: Well, that is fitting tribute for a remarkable woman.

Eric: So how goes it with you and Caroline?

Rick: Uh, well, um, it could be better, that's--that's why all of this. (Chuckles) I'm sure you've heard about Thomas' big plans for the company.

Eric: Thomas is not wrong to try to take the company into the future. We all want that. But we are not a warehouse. Forrester means something in this business.

Rick: I couldn't agree more. But you want to know what's worse? Thomas is using his position to marginalize Hope to make way for Caroline. It was a big mistake Ridge putting Thomas in charge to run our company.

Caroline: I'm kind of getting the feeling that maybe we should clear the air.

Hope: Okay.

Caroline: Um, well, why don't we start with have I done something to offend you?

Hope: Maybe. Yeah.

Caroline: A clue?

Hope: (Sighs) I'm really worried that you are playing Thomas against Rick, and that is not cool.

Caroline: Okay, well, that is also really not true. And I don't know where this is coming from.

Hope: You know how Rick is really protective over me? Well, that goes both ways. And I don't want to see him get jerked around.

Caroline: I wouldn't. And I don't know what you think is going on, but I-I really care about Rick. And I'm loyal to him. So please, don't doubt that.

Brooke: See this is what I'm talking about. The pills.

Liam: Oh, my God. Dad? Hey, dad? Dad, can you hear me?

Steffy: L-l-l--hold on. Let's call 9-1-1.

Liam: Wake up. Dad, come on.

Bill: What the hell?

Brooke: (Gasps) Oh, thank God. Are you okay?

Bill: Of course, I'm okay. What the hell are you doing?

Brooke: You wouldn't wake up.

Steffy: You scared us to death, Bill.

Bill: Scared you to death? What is wrong with you people? Can't a guy take a nap around here?

Will: (Fussing)

Brooke: (Sighing)

Liam: Oh, my God.

Will: (Fussing)

Rick: Thomas Forrester, CEO.

Eric: Not for long. Ridge will be back soon.

Rick: In the meantime, Hope's line sits on the backburner. Any time Thomas has left, it goes right to Caroline. You know, it's unprofessional. He's using his position--

Eric: It's temporary, all right?

Rick: Dad, he's using his position to hit on her. You know, Dad, you could always pull rank.

Eric: We'll give Thomas some latitude, all right? And if things start going south, I'll step in.

Rick: That is if there's a company left.

Eric: Oh, I can't keep my wife from dying, but I can save our company, the company that we built and created together, all right? Don't you shave anymore?

Rick: It's the style, Dad.

Eric: Yeah, I know. You and Caroline have a good lunch, all right? She's a remarkable girl.

Rick: Yeah. That she is.

Caroline: I don't know why you're suddenly so, what, suspicious of me?

Hope: I don't know you very well, Caroline.

Caroline: so you think that I'm playing Thomas to get him to focus on my line?

Hope: I just think that it would be really easy for you to use his attraction to you. And normally, that would be none of my business, but you are dating my brother.

Caroline: I am not using anyone.

Hope: Okay, well, call it working both ends against the middle.

Caroline: Okay, well, how do I convince you that that's not what I'm doing?

Hope: (Sighs) Okay, look, maybe what I think doesn't matter. But for peace of mind and in the interest of fair play, can I give you a little advice?

Caroline: I'm listening.

Hope: Kissing up to the CEO is not the way to make it around here. Caroline, you're a really, really talented designer, and I think you should let that speak for itself, because that's going to get you where you need to go. And that way, you're not gonna hurt anybody, and you're not gonna make any enemies along the way.

Caroline: Okay. This is your family's company, and you're just protecting your big brother. So I will keep that in mind.

Hope: Okay.

Caroline: Okay. (Sighs)

Bill: Oh, yeah, sure, have a--have a good laugh at my expense.

(Laughter)

Bill: I'm glad--I'm glad I'm here to amuse you.

Brooke: (Chuckles)

Bill: Just please try to keep it down to a low roar since we just got the baby back to sleep.

Liam: Come on, it's--it's a little funny. I mean, like running like Lucy Ricardo--aah! (Chuckles)

Brooke: Well, I was worried.

Liam: I know.

Brooke: You wouldn't wake up.

Bill: I've been up for 48 hours. It's been a little stressful. I fell asleep.

Brooke: And these are the pills.

Bill: Blood pressure medication.

Liam: (Sighs)

Bill: In case you haven't noticed, I do tend to run a little hot.

Brooke: Okay.

Bill: Do you think its easy building an empire?

Brooke: (Chuckles)

Liam: (Chuckles)

Brooke: Oh, I apologize.

Bill: All right, well, I guess I'll forgive you. No harm done. Probably not the best time to be napping anyway. Any word from Katie?

Brooke: (Sighs) No.

Liam: I kind of think at this point she doesn't want to be found.

Steffy: That could change. But at least for now, there's not much you can do, so why don't the two of you just leave Will with Liam and me and you walk around town, relax a little.

Bill: What do you think?

Brooke: Well, some fresh Aspen air would be lovely.

Bill: These two clowns don't have a lot of baby experience.

Brooke: Yeah.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Steffy: Says the newly crowned expert.

Liam: I-I'm sure we can handle Will for a couple of hours.

Bill: Want to?

Brooke: Sounds good.

(Knock on door)

(Soft music begins)

Caroline: I am so sorry I'm late. I got unexpectedly held up. (Sighs)

Rick: Mm. Mm-mm-mm.

Caroline: Mm. (Gasps) It's so beautiful.

Rick: (Chuckles)

Caroline: Oh.

Rick: I hoped you'd like it.

Caroline: I do. Thank you.

Rick: Mm-hmm. It's my pleasure. Here's to you, to all the success that you deserve.

(Glasses clink)

Caroline: I'm just excited to have the line out there.

Rick: It's too bad it's happening on Thomas' personal agenda, but what's important is that you're getting a shot. Success can't come without exposure, and however that happens is a good thing, right?

Caroline: Being awfully generous considering your feelings for Thomas.

Rick: I'm a fan of yours. And if he's the vehicle that's gonna get your line out there, it just means that we'll be one step closer when my time comes around.

Caroline: See, that's what I love about you. You never give up.

Rick: Eye on the prize wins. We're proof. You're here with me.

Liam: The kid sure sleeps a lot.

Steffy: Hmm. That's what babies do-- eat, cry, sleep. Yeah, they're kind of like kittens, except for the climbing the curtain thing.

Liam: Yeah, I-I foresee a lot of trouble in the future if you think babies are like kittens.

Steffy: No, I know-- I know the difference.

Liam: Uh-huh.

Steffy: Babies are bigger.

Liam: (Laughs)

Steffy: (Chuckles)

Liam: You're a nut.

Steffy: I learned from the best.

Liam: He sure is something, isn't he?

Steffy: Yeah.

Liam: I mean, I wonder what he's gonna be like when he develops a personality? You know, like some combination of my dad and Katie?

Steffy: Do you think Katie's gonna come back?

Liam: (Sighs) Yes. Yeah, I do, I mean, she--she hasn't abandoned her whole family permanently.

Steffy: Liam, your dad won't stop until he finds her.

Liam: It's pretty cool what you did, you know, encouraging my dad and Brooke to get out. And, he's been under so much pressure lately.

Steffy: Well, he's hanging in there. He's doing a lot better than I thought he would.

Liam: I think Brooke is a big reason for that. I mean, she's been great with--with Will. She's been somebody for my dad to talk to, lean on. And plus, she, you know, has the same amount of investment in Katie as my dad, so...

Steffy: It's just so crazy, just taking off like that, abandoning your child. She was the one who was determined to have a kid.

Liam: I know. It's like he's forcing Brooke to pick up where she left off.

Bill: Where is she?

Brooke: I don't know. (Sighs)

Bill: I want to help her. And I'm angry. I don't know what to feel.

Brooke: She leads us here, and then she just disappears.

Bill: Why?

Brooke: (Scoffs) I don't know.

Rick: Has Thomas actually unveiled his plan to launch your line?

Caroline: Mm, not specifically to me, anyway.

Rick: Right it's probably because he doesn't have one. He's not cut out to be CEO, and my father agrees.

Caroline: Really?

Rick: It's not that Thomas doesn't have good ideas. He's just biting off more than he can chew.

Caroline: Well, he seems very confident.

Rick: Well, you know what they say about pride. I mean, look, he's got every resource at his fingertips, including my father, but do you think he'd use him? No, he's too arrogant. He's caught up in the victory; and finally, after all these years, his side's in the driver's seat.

Caroline: His side?

Rick: Well... (Sighs) Brooke's children versus Taylor's children. It's been an inner struggle for a long time. Normally, when it comes to business, we always win. But--I'm not even gonna talk about that right now. It's all about celebrating you.

Caroline: Mm. Well, good work, 'cause I feel very celebrated.

Rick: Mmm.

(Cell phone alerts)

Rick: Excuse me. Oh, it's Hope.

Caroline: What?

Rick: What's this?

Caroline: I can explain that.

Steffy: I love Aspen. We have so many fabulous memories.

Liam: Yeah, we do. Like the sight of you at the top of Ajax Mountain...

Steffy: Mm.

Liam: Coming towards me with your spooky, lacy eyes...

Steffy: (Chuckles)

Liam: And--and your- and your long flowing train and your combat boots.

Steffy: Well, the best I could do on such short notice. (Chuckles)

Liam: Oh, it was uniquely you.

Steffy: Mmm. Many me's ago.

Liam: (Chuckles) Yeah, you've changed, haven't you? Me, too, finally. Kicking and screaming the whole way, but...

Steffy: And now here we are. Back where our marriage started.

Liam: It feels good, doesn't it?

Steffy: It feels great.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Will: (Coos)

Bill: You know, I think I'm gonna stay for a couple of days. No work, distractions. Just quiet time with my son.

Brooke: I think that will be good for you and Will.

Bill: The plane's at your disposal. You can head home and come when you're ready.

Brooke: If you need me to stay...

Bill: I didn't want to ask. You do have a life of your own.

Brooke: No, I don't. Not really.

Bill: Then stay.

Brooke: Okay.

Bill: Let's go.
