Stephanie: You're almost here? Oh, great. All right. I know I look forward to seeing you, too. (Sighs)

Brooke: Where's Bill? (Sighs)

Katie: Uh, the baby woke up.

Brooke: Oh, good. I'll have a chance to hold him before I leave, and I want thank you for all those kind words you said about Ridge. I really appreciate your support. And I'm gonna be there to support you, too.

Bill: All right. Here's our little Spencer.

Brooke: Oh, there he is. Hi, Will. (Chuckles) He's so...

Bill: Come on is that a handsome kid? Look at him.

Brooke: He's cute.

Taylor: Is everything okay? You sounded so serious on the phone.

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Taylor: If this is about what I think it is...

Stephanie: What?

Taylor: Ridge and Brooke breaking up. Please don't start.

Stephanie: Oh. No. I'm so over that. I don't care if Ridge is with Brooke or you or nobody. It's none of my business. No, that is not why I wanted to see you. I have something for you.

Taylor: Hmm. Ah. An invitation.. to celebrate your life? Stephanie.

Stephanie: The cancer's come back.

Bill: Okay. Look at that. He's having a good dream. He smiled. Look at that.

Brooke: Oh, yeah.

Bill: He smiled.

Brooke: Sure he did.

Will: (Fusses)

Bill: I'm telling you. Hey. Katie. Katie. I'm telling you. That was a smile. He's advanced. He's gonna be number one in his class. Don't listen to your aunt.

Brooke: No pressure, Will.

Bill: Look, look, look, look. There's another one right there.

Brooke: That is not a smile.

Bill: That was a smile.

Brooke: No. (Laughs) It's not. It's a reflex. He's gonna do that for the next couple of months.

Bill: Oh, so you have a few kids and that makes you the smiling expert, huh?

Brooke: Okay. Maybe I'm wrong.  Come on.

Will: (Fusses)

Bill: Yeah, see, you're-- you're upsetting him.

Brooke: It's okay, Will, give us a smile. Give us a smile.

Bill: You're making him mad.

Brooke: I want to see a smile. It's okay, Will.

Taylor: Isn't there anything they can do?

Stephanie: Not this time.

Taylor: (Sighs) So, of course, you would throw yourself a party.

Stephanie: (Chuckles)

Taylor: Are you gonna put the big slide up there again?

Stephanie: (Laughs) That was fun. Actually, it was Eric's idea. (Sighs) You know him-- any opportunity to give a speech.

Taylor: Yeah.  Well, I'm glad he talked you into it then.

Stephanie: Yeah. (Sighs) I-I wrote the invitations, and I wanted to-- to give it.. (sighs) to each person and to have a little time alone with them, you know, before the party, because I don't want a lot of tears at the party. I wanted to have this time with you, tell you how much I love you and thank you for all that you've been.

Brooke: What do you say, Mama? Is that a smile? Hi.

Katie: I, um...  

Brooke: Mm? Yeah. It is.

Katie: No, obviously not. He's too young.

Brooke: Oh. (Laughs) I'm sorry. I am being such a hog. Do you want to hold your baby?

Katie: Okay.

Brooke: Okay. Here you go.

(Heartbeat thumping)

Will: (Fusses)

Bill: Need a hand, Katie?

Will: (Fusses)

Brooke: Katie?

Katie: No, I'm fine.

(Heartbeat thumping)

Katie: Everything's gonna be just fine.

Will: (Coos)

(Heartbeat thumping)

Stephanie: Now there's something that I want to discuss with you, all right? In my jewelry box, I have some things that I want to give to you. I've already set certain pieces aside for Felicia and for Kristen, but there's some things I want you to have.

Taylor: No, no, Stephanie. I don't want anything. I've already got... the most precious thing you've ever given me-- that beautiful necklace.

Stephanie: Yeah.

Taylor: Mm-hmm.

Stephanie: That was my grandmother's.

Taylor: That one, yeah, that you gave me that Christmas.

(Flashback)

Stephanie: I have... a token of my gratitude for being my daughter-in-law.

Taylor: Oh, look at this.

Stephanie: It's been in my family for three generations.

Taylor: Really?

Stephanie: Mm-mm. My grandmother gave it to my mother. And my mother gave it to me. And I want to give it to you.

Taylor: (Sighs) (Chuckles) Are you sure that you want to part with this?

Stephanie: Oh, absolutely.

Taylor: What about Kristen and Felicia?

Stephanie: I wanted to give this to you, because I want you to know that I really feel you're a part of this family. You're like a daughter to me. (Laughs) I know it hasn't always been that way, believe me, but you've been wonderful, and you've been very supportive, and I appreciate that. I treasure you as a friend and a daughter.

(Present time)

Taylor: You told me I was like a daughter to you.

Stephanie: I did. You are. (Inhales sharply) I think I remember you tried to give that necklace back.

Taylor: (Laughs) I thought I had to. (Chuckles) (Sniffles)

(Flashback)

Taylor:  Will you do something for me?

Stephanie: Of course.

Taylor: Take this.

Stephanie: All right.

Taylor: I want you to keep it.

Stephanie: I gave it to you to keep. I want you to give it to either Steffy or Phoebe, whatever.

Taylor: Will you do it for me?

Stephanie: Me? Why can't... Taylor, what are you telling me?

(Present time)

Taylor: Thank God you never really left us.

Stephanie: Promise me something? When the time sort of, you know... make sure you give that necklace to Steffy.

Taylor: Yeah. She can give it to her daughter.

Stephanie: That would make me very happy. I'll be looking down smiling.

Bill: See that?  Mother’s touch calmed him right down.

Katie: Yeah, I guess so.

Brooke: Honey, why don't you come sit down? I'll just prop you up a little bit with a pillow.

Katie: Oh, no, no. I'm--I'm--I'm gonna put him down. I'd like a few minutes alone with him actually.

Brooke: Okay.

Bill: That's a great idea

Will: (Fusses)

Bill: Can I help you?

Katie: No.

Brooke: You still sore from the C-section

Katie: Yeah, but I'm... (Sighs) I'm getting better.

Brooke: Yes. (Sighs) You most certainly are.

Katie: I'll be down in a minute.

Brooke: Okay.

Bill: All right. She wants to spend some time alone with him. That--this is good.

Brooke: Yeah, yeah. This is good. I think Katie might be turning a corner.

Bill: (Sighs)

Taylor: You've always made me feel so loved and so important to you.

Stephanie: Because you are. (Coughing) I'm sorry. It's okay. It's okay. (Sighs) Sweetheart, you have been... (Sighs) probably one of two or three most important relationships in my life. If I had only known that from the beginning-- how much you would mean to me... (Coughs) and to Ridge--

Taylor: No, you didn't exactly like me much at first.

Stephanie: (Chuckles) (Coughs)

(Flashback)

Taylor: Stephanie, I told you I would not be your doctor.

Stephanie: That's not why I'm here. I was hoping that you'd listen. I wanted to run some thoughts by you.

Taylor: That's what friends are for, and I am not your friend. Ridge doesn't need me. He wants me. And he's going to have me forever starting next week. I suggest you get used to that. And if you don't, you may not be welcome in our home, and I know that would upset you. Now would you like to help me plan my wedding party?

Stephanie: I'd rather drink a glass of acid rain.

(Present time)

Stephanie:  I know I'm slow to warm up to people, but when I do...  

(Flashback)

Taylor: (Chuckles) Stephanie, I wanted to tell you... (Sighs) How much I appreciate that you've taken me into the family.

Stephanie: Well, you are part of the family aren't you?

(Present time)

Taylor: Yeah. We both knew that we would be best friends for life.

Stephanie: Yeah.

Katie: (Sighs)

Will: (Coos)

Katie: You're such a good boy. You're such a good sweet boy for your daddy and for your aunt Brooke. (Sighs) She's good for you, too... because she loves holding you. She loves taking care of you. I don't know how Ridge could ever leave her. I just-- I... I don't understand it... because she's such a wonderful wife, and she's a wonderful mother, and... I know she loves you so much. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. But I can't do it. (Sniffles)

(Heartbeat thumping)

Katie: I can't let you fall in love with me.

(Heartbeat thumping)

Katie: (Sniffles) (Sighs)

Taylor: I can't imagine life without you. You're the first person I think of when I need somebody to talk to. What will I do? You're my best friend.

(Flash back)

Singer: Morning star shining bright

Taylor: Mrs. Forrester?

Stephanie: Yes?

Taylor: I'm Taylor Hayes.

Singer: Take me on an angel's flight

(Cheers and applause)

Stephanie: Oh, my God, Taylor.

Singer: Rescue me angels in the light wish I may wish I might all that's past I can't rewrite

Stephanie: Your baby and Ridge's baby.

Singer: Set me fee

(Bell rings)

Singer: Help me see angels in the light angels in the light

(Present time)

Stephanie: I like to think that I saw something of myself in you-- the better parts of me-- because you were always the moral compass for this family, honey.

Taylor: (Sighs) I don't know about that.

Stephanie: Yes, you were. You certainly didn't need me interfering in your life. You never did.

Taylor: I'd rather you stick around, and you can interfere in my life all you want.

Stephanie: (Chuckles) Oh, honey, I love you so much. I love you.

Taylor: (Sobbing) I love you, too.

Bill: You think I should check on her?

Brooke: No. It's getting better now right? You feel it, too?

Bill: (Sighs) I-I think so, yeah, since you spoke to her, and--and she saw Taylor.

Brooke: I'm so proud of her.

Bill: Me, too. Maybe she's finally starting to see what a great mom she'll be.

Brooke: (Sighs) Yeah.

Katie: I have to leave.

Will: (Cooing)

Katie: But I don't want you to ever think... that I don't love you. (Sniffles) (sobs) Because I do. That's why I have to go. I'm gonna give you what you need.

(Heartbeat thumping)

Katie: I'm gonna give you the life that you deserve. And it's gonna be a great life. (Sniffles) I promise. (Sniffles) And when you grow up, you'll know and you'll understand that--that I did it for you.

Will: (Fusses)

Katie: I'll make sure that you never feel abandoned.

(Heartbeat thumping accelerates)

Katie: (Sighs)

(Katie imagines)

Bill: Come here, buddy. Come here, Will.

Will: (Laughs)

Bill: There's my man right there. Come here. Right here. (Vibrates lips)

Will: (Laughs)

Bill: Go on, Will, run to your mommy. Give her a hug.

Brooke: Come on.

Will: (Laughs) (Laughs)

(Present time)

(Heartbeat thumping)

Katie: (Sighs)

Will: (Fusses)

Katie: It's the only way. (Sniffles) (Sighs) It's the only way.

(Heartbeat thumping)
