Deacon: Hope, I-- look, I know that flowers don't begin to make up for the way that I left that day. At least we had some time together before the ceremony.

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Deacon: I-I read everything that I could get my hands on about it. I-I can't believe you got an entire Italian village coming out to celebrate with you and your husband.

Hope: (Chuckles) Um... he--he's not my husband anymore. (Sighs)

Deacon: That's why I'm here.

Hope: (Sighs)

Deacon: Hope, I'm so sorry... for more than you know.

Katie: (Laughs) Whoa! He is kicking me hard! I mean, we're talking, like--

Bill: World Cup soccer potential.

Katie: Or maybe he might choose the Bolshoi Ballet. You know, those ballet dancers are real athletes.

Bill: Yeah, you can stop that right there. Do you think a son of mine is going to choose ballet over football?

Katie: (Chuckles)

Bill: Spencer males are hardwired for--

Katie: Ransacking and ravaging and not wearing their hearts on their sleeves?

Bill: Yeah, something my first-born son has been slow to learn, but we're working on that.

Katie: You are pushing him into this. This is not who Liam is and it's not who Hope fell in love with.

Bill: Hope doesn't love Liam anymore. They're done, my love, and nothing is going to change that.

Deacon: I know I didn't hang around that day. I--

Hope: No, it's okay. It's okay. I'm just... (Sighs) I'm just glad you're here now. (Chuckles) I'll be honest, I kind of thought I'd never see you again.

Deacon: Yeah, well, I'm sure that's what Brooke would have preferred.

Hope: (Scoffs) You know, she and Ridge are on their honeymoon right now.

Deacon: Yeah. Those two crazy kids tying the knot for the umpteenth time, huh?

Hope: Yeah. I know.

Deacon: It's unbelievable. I had read something like that. I don't know. I figured it might be a good opportunity to, uh, make the most of it.

Hope: How much do you know?

Deacon: What, um... what's been happening in your life since Italy?

Hope: Um... well, I mean, it really didn't take long after we got home for everything to blow up...

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: And then blow up again.

Deacon: This never should have happened...

Hope: (Sighs)

Deacon: None of it.

Hope: Well, hey, it's not your fault.

Deacon: Honey, I'm your father. I mean, I-I'm not much of one, granted--

Hope: Don't say that. Don't say that.

Deacon: It's okay. It's true.

Hope: No, it's--okay, but that's--you know what? It's--it's not how I feel. (Sighs)

Deacon: Yeah, I-I don't know what I did right in this life to deserve such a sweet and forgiving young woman as my daughter, because, I mean, you've just-- you've accepted me into your life unconditionally. And, Hope, I don't deserve it. The truth is, I'm as responsible as anyone for things not working out between you and Liam.

Caroline: (Sighs)

Thomas: (Sighs)

Caroline: We should probably get back to work. (Chuckles)

Thomas: (Groans) The C.E.O. is on his honeymoon. He'll never know.

Caroline: But Rick will, and he seems to like to crack the whip.

Thomas: Well, Rick's not in charge. We're all pitching in while dad's away.

Caroline: You mean the way that you pitched in with Hope earlier?

Thomas: (Sighs) It was a photo shoot, and I'm part of Hope's line now. Besides, Hope's still in love with Liam. (Sighs)

Caroline: But if she weren't, would that matter?

Rick: Hey. You've gotta see these proofs. (Clears throat)

Thomas: (Sighs)

Rick: Yeah?

Thomas: Yeah.

Rick: You two look great together-- in front of the camera and off.

Thomas: (Scoffs)

Caroline: (Sighs)

Katie: You keep talking like this, and it's going to cause more friction between you and your son.

(Door opens)

Liam: (Sighs)

Bill: Or not.

Liam: Do you know expense accounts are out of control around here? Look at that. I'm implementing cuts immediately.

Katie: Um, I-I was under the impression you were gonna go see Hope.

Liam: No. No. Business first-- something my old man here's been trying to teach me since day one. As for Hope, I think the, uh, less said, the better.

Hope: Why would you think that you're responsible?

Deacon: Because I am. Hope, there's so much that you don't even know about. I--

Hope: (Sighs) Well, there's a lot that you don't know, too.

Deacon: Um, you know, actually, I think I've managed to piece this together pretty well from your press conference.

Hope: (Sighs) No, I mean, about Italy. After you left, um, basically, Liam found the note that you left me, and he thought I left it. Um, he got really confused and upset and turned right to Steffy.

Deacon: No, wait, wait, wait. Hang on a second. Wait. Are you telling me that Liam--

Hope: Trust me. Trust me. When I explain it all to you, you will understand why Liam and I are not married and never will be.

Oliver: Ladies.

(Telephone rings)

Both: Oliver.

Donna: I'll escort him inside, and you get the phone.

(Ring)

Pam: No, you get the phone. I'll escort him.

Donna: What? No. What--

(Ringing)

Donna: Okay, fine.

(Ring)

Donna: On three. One--

Pam: Two, three.

(Ring)

Oliver: You make me feel like royalty.

Donna: (Chuckles)

(Ring)

Donna: (Sighs)

(Ring)

Donna: (Grunts)

(Ring)

Donna: (Sighs)

Oliver: I enlarged the photos from the shoot.

Rick: Wow. Wow, these are even sexier than I thought. Did you send these over to Spencer Publications?

Oliver: Yeah! I don't get why you want to give them first dibs, though.

Rick: (Chuckles)

Bill: The latest Hope for the Future shoot. Obviously, they didn't waste any time putting Thomas and Hope together. I should have the same e-mail. Not surprisingly, those two -- wow.

Katie: Subtle as always.

Bill: Hope told Liam how she feels. She didn't sugarcoat it. She was in love with you, now she's not. Everything's been said. It's all out in the open. You both know all there is to know.

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: So there was the letter, the video, the marriage not being legal. You know, I think that any other couple could maybe survive one of those things -- certainly not all three. I mean, when Liam showed up at Stephanie's house after being out all night with Steffy, I just --

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: I really hate that I still love him.

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: But Liam's feelings for Steffy and hers for him are just too strong. Yeah, they try and fight it, but something always happens -- always, and I'm left -- I'm left at the top of the stairs in my wedding dress with Liam below pleading for me to understand that he and Steffy just ... (Sniffles) I just couldn't do it anymore.

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: Kind of like when you couldn't stay that day (Sniffles)

Deacon: Hey, baby. Please believe me that I wanted to more than you know.

Hope: I know what you said in that letter.

Deacon: That's the thing. If I'd just stayed, there never would have been a letter for Liam to misinterpret.

Hope: No. No, I'm not blaming you at all. You flew all the way to Italy to be with me on my wedding day. (Laughs) I will always love you for that.

Deacon: (Sighs) Let me ask you something.

Hope: (Sniffles)

Deacon: What you said at the press conference about -- um, you know, wanting a fresh start and not looking back.

Hope: Uh-huh. (Sniffles)

Deacon: Now, come on. Is that really how you feel? Because looking at you and hearing you...

Hope: (Sniffles)

Deacon: Kiddo, you've got it bad.

Hope: (Sniffles)

Deacon: And I mean, um, saying that things are over between you and Liam, it sounds kind of silly when it's so obvious that they're not.

Rick: We're going in a new direction with Hope for the Future. I want to get the word out.

Thomas: Didn't Hope's press conference take care of that?

Rick: There's no such thing as too much good publicity. Isn't that right, Ollie?

Oliver: Sure.

(Cell phone rings)

Thomas: Sorry.

Rick: Okay, good idea.

Thomas: Thomas Forrester.

Rick: (Whispering indistinctly)

Thomas: Right now? Okay, I'll be right there. I'm sorry. This won't take long.

Caroline: Okay.

Oliver: I'm gonna get out of here, unless you need something else.

Rick: No.

Oliver: Good seeing you.

(Door closes)

Rick: They're just publicity shots.

Caroline: (Sighs)

Rick: It doesn't mean what you're thinking.

Caroline: I don't want to be thinking what I'm thinking.

Rick: Then don't. Think of something else... like how exciting it will be when I'm sitting in that chair as president and C.E.O. of Forrester Creations with you by my side. (Chuckles)

Caroline: It's what makes you excited, isn't it, being in charge?

Rick: Well, my father founded this place. I'm motivated and determined to preserve his legacy.

Caroline: Or create your own.

Rick: I want to make my mark almost as bad as I want to do this. (Sighs) (Kisses Caroline)

Caroline: (Sighs)

Katie: Despite what your father may think, he's not always right.

Bill: Did I imagine Thomas kissing Hope in front of a room full of reporters?

Katie: No. But if you'll remember, he's involved with Caroline. You remember Caroline, your niece?

Bill: Yeah. I wonder what she thinks of these.

Katie: I think she thinks that it's business, because that's what it is.

Bill: If that's what it is.

Katie: You're making something out of nothing.

Liam: Yeah, I'm not so sure.

Katie: (Sighs) Don't listen to your father. He's got his own agenda.

Bill: For my first-born son to man-up--yeah-- be the Spencer he's supposed to be, not the "Yes" man that Hope turned him into. But that chapter's closed, because Hope closed it. End of story.

Deacon: I still can't believe you and Liam aren't married. I mean, if I had known, I would have... (Scoffs) oh, this is--

Hope: Hey, no, there's-- there's nothing that you could have done.

Deacon: Honey, I'm your dad, you know? I mean, a father's job is to protect his little girl...

Hope: (Sighs)

Deacon: Even if she-- even if she isn't that little anymore. You know your entire life, I've been AWOL.

Hope: Things get complicated, okay, and you make decisions or they're made for you. (Sighs)

Deacon: Yeah. You think maybe it's possible that that's what happened between you and Liam? I mean, I--obviously, there were outside forces, but, uh...

Hope: Are--I mean, are you talking about Steffy?

Deacon: Yeah. I mean, she was with Liam the day of your wedding in Italy and then the night before you were gonna make it official in Los Angeles. Look, I-I get it I've never met the girl. But I gotta tell you, from what I'm hearing, I--

Hope: Uh, guess what?

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: I invited her to Italy. Yep. I invited her, because I wanted to bring the families closer together. Clearly, that backfired, um, not because she was trying to undermine me. You know, but because--

Deacon: Yeah, because of the letter that I never wrote.

Hope: What do you mean, you never wrote?

Deacon: No, I-I just meant that I-I-I didn't mean to write it, and, you know, the way I left, sneaking off like that, I-- honey, see, the thing is, I knew if I stayed, somehow I was gonna hurt you, and I'm sorry.

Hope: (Sighs)

Deacon: I took the coward's way out.

Hope: No, you are not ward. And you're here for me now. What changed your mind?

Deacon: I saw your press conference on the Internet. I saw what Rick was saying about Liam, and, um... look, are you absolutely sure that this guy's worthy of you? I mean... (Sighs) I gotta be real honest with you. There's a part of me that wants to-- wants to just go and teach Liam a lesson for the way that he's treated you, not to mention is old man for all the grief that he's put you through.

Hope: How did you know about that?

Deacon: Am I wrong?

Hope: No. No. I mean, I-I'm definitely not his first choice...

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: For a daughter-in-law. Um, but you know, it's so ironic, because at the wedding, he actually stood up, and he accepted me as part of the Spencer family.

Deacon: (Sighs)

Hope: I mean, clearly, he doesn't feel that way anymore.

Deacon: So he's back on the, uh, Steffy and Liam bandwagon, right?

Hope: Yeah, it's okay.

Deacon: No, it's not all right. This guy is a-- this guy is such a control freak.

Hope: (Sighs)

Deacon: I mean--

Hope: Hey. Hey. It's a--it's all right. I'm fine. I'm fine, especially now that I've got you here looking out for me. Just, um... promise me, no more "good-bye" letters, okay? (Chuckles)

Deacon: Yeah.

Hope: I kind of want you to stick around. I mean, there's so much that I-I still don't know about you. And... I love you. (Chuckles)

Deacon: (Sighs) I just wish I deserved it. Maybe one day.

Bill: I think we both know where Katie's headed.

Liam: Uh, she said something about seeing Donna.

Bill: Mm-hmm, at Forrester, no doubt, checking up on their niece.

Liam: Uh, the-- I wasn't-- that's not what you think. Just--

Bill: I'm not thinking anything, except how proud I am of you-- my son finally embracing what it means to be a Spencer. No more "Liam, the bleeding heart." You're Liam the conqueror. Hope, your feelings for her-- are a thing of the past. Don't look back.

Liam: (Sighs)

Hope: (Sighs) (Chuckles) (Sighs)

("Until You Came Along" by JJ Heller playing)

Nothing makes sense without you it's like waking up in the dark I didn't have a song until you came along nothing makes sense without you it's like waking up in the dark I didn't have a song until you came along

Hope: (Sighs) (Sniffles)

Bill: Hell, yes, you're gonna get through this. Of course, you are. This is no time to cave. Come on, you've been in business a long time. All right, sure, anytime. No problem.

(Knock on door)

Bill: What is it?

(Door opens)

Bill: What the hell are you doing here?
