Steffy: How did you--

Liam: Just knew.

Steffy: What's wrong? Something must have happened.

[Liam remembering]

Hope: You're telling me that you're ready to be my husband? Your behavior says differently. You are so not ready.

Liam: Hey, where-- where are you going?

Hope: I love you, Liam, and I am ready to be married. But you are obviously not.

Ridge: Hey, Doc. Steffy around?

Taylor: Oh, you are never going to believe this.

Ridge: What?

Taylor: Liam is out tracking Steffy down right now.

Ridge: Tracking her down for what?

Taylor: I don't know. He said he has to talk to her. You should have seen this look in his eye. I have no idea what it means.

(Knock on door)

Rick: Hey, uh, I'm sorry to interrupt again. I just realized, after everything that you've been through, what are you still doing at the office?

Hope: (Scoffs) Might as well be here, I mean, I'm not flying off on a honeymoon. I've got to do something to keep my mind off Liam.

Rick: I'm all for that, but no work. Hey, Thomas, keep an eye on this one for me. But there's two rules-- no Liam, no work.

Thomas: I can handle that.

Rick: Thank you.

Hope: Hey, did Liam really say he was going to see Steffy?

Rick: Not in so many words, but, yeah, pretty much. But isn't that what he always does?

Hope: Mm-hmm.

Rick: Enough with him letting you down. You're better than that. You deserve so much better. Y-you deserve a guy who-- who doesn't have divided feelings, who will love only you, right? No more Liam. All right.

Hope: (Sighs) Oh, Rick makes it sound so easy. Just move on, but, you know, how am I supposed to do that when I can hardly believe that it's over?

Thomas: But it is, right?

Hope: Yeah, mm-hmm.

Thomas: You don't want to go back to that kind of life, always wondering if ... (Sighs) He's still thinking about Steffy.

Hope: No, no, I don't. I mean, Liam has proven over and over that he-- he can't let go.

Thomas: So... you have to be the one, okay? Rick's right. He's not my favorite person in the world, but he's a good brother. He's looking out for you.

Rick: Let me guess, another brilliant collaboration between Thomas and Caroline?

Caroline: Collaboration, yes, but brilliant? Mm, we'll see. How's your sister?

Rick: She's hurting, but she's gonna be okay. I think Hope breaking up with Liam is gonna work out best for everyone.

Ridge: The wedding didn't happen, but I haven't heard they're officially through.

Taylor: Well, I think they are. Actually, I-I hope they are. Steffy has never loved anyone like she does Liam, a-and she's--she's tried so hard to give him up. Maybe now she won't have to.

Liam: Well, Hope says it's over, and I don't think she's coming back this time.

Steffy: I'm sorry. You actually believe her?

Liam: Well, she says I don't deserve her. She's pro-- she's probably right. I don't think I deserve much of anything at this point.

Steffy: (Sighs) You know, I see it differently. I know how much you love Hope. I just-- I-I can't believe that she would call it quits. Maybe she'll change her mind.

Caroline: You really think Hope's gonna be okay?

Rick: Yeah. Yeah, sure, you know, with the help of her friends... like Thomas. He's with her now.

Caroline: Yeah? Good.

Rick: You okay with that?

Caroline: What? We're not--

Rick: I mean, you know their history, right?

Caroline: Yeah. I mean, Thomas and I have been getting pretty close. He told me about Hope.

Rick: Everything? Do you know how serious it got?

Ridge: I'm with Taylor, and she just told me some pretty big news about Liam and Hope. I wanted to see if you have talked to Hope, and how she's doing. Well, let me know if I can help out, okay? I'll see you at home.

Taylor: You're a good dad.

Ridge: It's difficult sometimes, times like this. I want to be excited for Steffy, but at the same time, I've gotta give Hope the support and love that she needs, too.

Taylor: Well, I think Hope will be just fine. I-I think in a few months she's gonna move on and find another man, who knows? Maybe Thomas.

Ridge: He's dating Caroline.

Taylor: Well, we don't know if that's because he really wanted to, or because Hope wasn't available.

Hope: You know, you don't have to babysit me.

Thomas: (Laughs)

Hope: I'm sure you have better things to do.

Thomas: Are you kidding?

Hope: God, how are you and your sister so different? She goes out of her way to hurt me, a-and you-- you're so nice. You're always there when I need you.

Thomas: Always. Can't really explain Steffy, but I honestly don't think she wants to hurt you.

Hope: (Giggles)

Thomas: In my opinion, Liam is the one doing the hurting, because he thinks he can have both of you.

Hope: Be married to me, and then goes out and party with her, spend all night dancing. I mean, would you ever-- I mean, the night before your wedding, hang out with your ex-wife? Would you ever do that?

Thomas: No.

Hope: (Scoffs) And--and worse, I mean...

[Hope remembering]

Rick: I asked Othello the same question before you got here about Liam and Steffy, and... he said that they were all over each other.

Hope: What else?

Rick: They made out in the corner of the club, and they went upstairs to a cabana.

Hope: More happened. They can deny it all they want, or pretend that alcohol made them forget. (Scoffs) Whatever. They can have each other.

Rick: Now that Liam and Hope aren't together anymore, I have a feeling that Thomas and Hope are gonna be like magnets to each other.

Thomas: I really hope you mean that.

Thomas: But just in case, I'll keep reminding you.

Hope: No, I-I do. I mean, if I've got to worry about a guy's commitment all the time, thinking that he might be out kissing somebody else-- no, no, forget it. I can't-- I can't be with a guy like that.

Thomas: (Sighs) Why you didn't realize that in Mexico, I have no idea.

Hope: I've grown up a lot since then. It never would have worked, Thomas. I was so in love with Liam.

Thomas: You still are.

Hope: Yeah.

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: Guess I still have some things to get rid of, huh? Uh, magazines lying around, clothes still in the closet. I come in here, and it's like, I forget she's gone.

Steffy: Well, you were starting a life with her, Liam. It'll take time.

Liam: Yeah. Well, even when she does come get her stuff, I'm sure I'll still... (Sighs) Feel her here.

Rick: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything.

Caroline: No, it's fine. It's not a big deal. So Thomas proposed to Hope. We all have our histories.

Rick: That's right, you know, we all have our past. Yeah, some of them follow us around even though they're not true.

Caroline: (Sighs) I am so sorry. I shouldn't have listened to Amber. I should have just come to you right away instead of assuming that you were being secretive.

Rick: No, it's all right. Amber has a way of making people believe the impossible. You should give me another chance.

Caroline: Rick...

Rick: Look, I know the appeal of Thomas. The whole Ridge and Caroline, next generation thing-- it's a fun idea. It's like a movie.

Caroline: (Laughs)

Rick: (Chuckles) But thing don't always work out like that. Don't assume that you have to be with Thomas just because your Aunt loved his dad. You should give yourself some time and options. Thomas has feelings for Hope, and... I think he's gonna take advantage of the fact that she's single now. And maybe we should, too.

Thomas: There you go. You're all set up.

Hope: With what?

Hope: What? Thomas--no, I don't want that.
