Liam: You--you have to remember the--the note that your father left. I thought that was from you to me.

Hope: No, I know. I-I-I know all that. You thought that I had left you. And now you're telling me that Steffy was in the hotel room with you. What happened, Liam? Tell me. Liam, what happened between you and Steffy on our wedding day?

Brooke: Where have you been?

Ridge: With Steffy.

Brooke: You missed Hope's preview.

Ridge: I was here at first, but she needed me. How did it go?

Brooke: It was fabulous, actually. She did beautifully.

Ridge: Liam didn't tell her.

Brooke: Not before the show, no, but he's with her right now, and he better be telling her the truth.

Liam: Hope, you just-- you have to understand--

Hope: Oh, Liam, will you please just tell me what happened?

Liam: I-I will. I'm going to but just--just try to keep in mind the circumstances, okay?

Hope: Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God.

Liam: So I'm at the church...

Hope: Uh-huh.

Liam: And I'm waiting for you. We all are. And you're late, and then soon, you're beyond late. Still straight to voicemail. And I-I started to get worried. I started to think, you know, what-- what if there's an accident what if--what if something went wrong? And so I-I-I went back to the hotel to find you.

Hope: Yeah, but, Liam, by that time, I was on my way, running to the church.

Liam: I know. I know. I know that. I know that. Just hear me out, okay? I get to the hotel room, and you're not there. Hope? Hey, you in here? And at this point... (Sighs) I'm really starting to freak out. And I look, and there's this--this note. "I love you. I can't do this. I'm sorry. Good-bye."

Hope: Okay, but, Liam, you had to know that I-I wouldn't write that. There's no way that I would have written that.

Liam: I--that's-- that's what I kept saying. That's--that's what I kept telling myself. I mean, how? There's--there's-- there's no way, that it couldn't possibly be. But then I-I-I got this feeling, Hope. I got this--this feeling deep down in my gut like history was repeating itself, like you were-- like when you broke off our engagement the first time.

Hope: Steffy was certainly there for you then, too.

Ridge: Thank you, Gentlemen. Thanks for all your help.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Logan, I am all about openness and not keeping secrets, but--

Brooke: Ridge, I will not back down on this. It wasn't too long ago when I almost lost you because I wasn't open and honest. And you know what you asked me? You made me promise, actually, that I would never keep a secret again, ever. And I don't want Hope to begin her marriage with this huge secret. It just puts her in Steffy's mercy, and I just can't take that. You know what else? (Sighs) Steffy isn't moving on. She's waiting for Liam.

Taylor: Hi, Honey.

Steffy: Hey. Hey. Um... (Clears throat) How was Hope's preview?

Taylor: Oh, I didn't go to that. Uh, but I was visiting Thorne down in the dungeon, and he said Hope was on top of her game.

Steffy: Really? You think Liam didn't tell her?

Taylor: Well, that's the thing. Um, when Thorne was backstage with everyone, congratulating them, Liam asked if he could have some privacy. This could change everything, Steffy.

Hope: Okay. (Sighs) Okay, so you were-- you were reading the letter... (Sighs) In the hotel room, and Steffy shows up. (Sighs)

Hope: Why?

Liam: I guess my dad called her and told her you never showed up at the church.

Hope: (Sighs) Wow. H-how... thoughtful of him.

Liam: None of us knew what to make of it, Hope. I mean, Steffy saw me arrive at the hotel. She was wondering what was going on. She came up into the room after me.

[Liam remembering]

Steffy: Liam?

Liam: I had just finished reading the note.

Hope: What happened next?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Just promise me something, will you? If this doesn't work out for Hope and Liam, you won't go into a major funk over pushing him to do this.

Brooke: No. Liam needed to do this.

Ridge: Well, he didn't think.

Brooke: (Sighs) I disagree.

Ridge: Well, he married Hope. We were both there on that beautiful day in Polignano a Mare. How can you doubt that Liam loves Hope?

Brooke: I don't doubt that. But this isn't about love. This is about commitment. And if he's truly committee to her, he will explain everything, and he will ask for her forgiveness. Hope needs that reassurance, and so do I.

Ridge: Boy, she is a lot like you.

Brooke: (Scoffs) No. No, I don't-- I don't think so.

Ridge: Looking at her and that bluff sunshine on her face, dazzling smile-- it kind of took me back to another wedding on the beach. My beautiful bride-- so incredibly radiant that day.

Brooke: And now we're engaged again...

Ridge: Yeah.

Brooke: Something else that happened in Italy.

Ridge: Another wedding.

Brooke: (Giggles)

Ridge: Let's just not wait too long, okay?

Brooke: Okay.

Steffy: There's a lot of interest in Hope's perfect wedding line.

Taylor: How do you stay focused on business knowing that Liam and Hope are talking about their future?

Steffy: They're not talking about their future, Mom. They're married. Liam's merely telling her something that happened before the wedding.

Taylor: Well, hopefully, everything.

Steffy: I know you're hoping that they'll break up.

Taylor: No, I'm not I know that it might happen because of the way you feel about him and the way he feels about you.

Steffy: Mom, you know what it does to me when you talk like this.

Taylor: I would think it forces you to look at reality.

Steffy: It tempts me to hope for something that's gonna make two people miserable-- Hope and Liam.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Steffy: They fought for their marriage, and most of the time, they were fighting me. I don't want to do that to them. I just want Liam to be happy. And that's all I care about.

Hope: Tell me everything. You were alone in the hotel room with Steffy. (Sighs) You had just read the note. Then what?

Liam: I showed it to Steffy. (Scoffs) She couldn't believe it any more than I could. We came all the way to Italy. We were so excited. Everything was perfect. Uh, but this note was just so... final. "I can't do this"? Trust me, Hope. I tried to explain it away. I mean, I tried to find some indication-- any indication--that it-- that it wasn't the way that it seemed, that it was a-a miscommunication or--or a mistake. But... (Scoffs) Everything-- every single thing pointed toward what I was so scared of-- that you had walked out on me. I mean, I-I tried calling and calling--

Hope: Oh, I know, but--but, Liam, I didn't have my phone.

Liam: I know, but I didn't know that. You were gone. Uh, there was no way for me to get ahold of you. All I had was this-- this note. I was--it was like I was in shock I mean, I felt like I knew that you wouldn't do that to me. You wouldn't leave me. I knew that, but... (Scoffs) There it was right there in writing. You had left me. I-I-I mean, I was going through so many emotions. I was--I was hurt. I was--I was angry. (Sighs)

Hope: And Steffy... made you feel better. What happened, Liam?

Liam: There was some kissing.

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: But that's it. The... I don't know what you want me to say, Hope. I had been left at the altar. Hope?

Hope: (Sighs) (Sniffles) On our wedding day? You were kissing Steffy the day we got married? (Sighs)

Taylor: Well, I have to say I admire the way you're handling this whole thing with such integrity.

Steffy: Well, I love Liam. And I want the best for him. I thought it was me, but it didn't turn out that way.

Taylor: Hmm.

Steffy: You know, Hope's a good person. He loves her, and they'll have a great life together. I really just want Liam to be fulfilled in every way. That's my wish for Hope and Liam.

Taylor: Oh.

Hope: Why-- why-- Liam, why are you telling me this now?

Liam: Because I don't want to keep secrets, and I don't want it hanging over our marriage.

Hope: Liam... (Sighs) (Inhales sharply) Liam, you know what scares me? It's not exactly that you turned to Steffy when you thought we were through. It's that you turned to her so soon... again. Is... (Sighs) Is this the future of our marriage? Are you so vulnerable that any time you start to feel abandoned, you have to turn to Steffy? Liam, this is no different from when I was too busy with Hope for the Future. You coped with it by turning to Steffy. (Sighs) Liam... (Sighs) (Sniffles) When I got to that hotel room, your shirt was... (Sighs) I mean, you looked pretty disheveled. Are you sure that you are telling me everything?

Liam: Yes.

Hope: (Breathing heavily)

Liam: Yes. It was a bizarre day, Hope. Crazy things happened. But it's over now. And we're married. And I want to stay married.

Hope: (Sighs) Just the thought of you kissing that woman on our wedding day... (Sighs) Our... our perfect wedding day. (Sighs)

Liam: It was perfect. And you were beautiful and I have never loved you more than I did on that day. The town crowd, the music, the vows we made-- that's what I want you to remember about that day-- nothing else.

Hope: But there was something else. You robbed me, Liam. I will never be able to remember that day without remembering this.

Liam: That's only because, in that moment, I was living in a different reality. I was living in a world where you didn't want me anymore and I shouldn't have believed it. I really shouldn't have believed it, but I did. And I... I'm praying that it doesn't ruin what we have but nothing changes about our relationship. You just got a tiny glimpse into... (Scoffs) How badly I would deal with it if I did lose you. Our trip to Italy, our time in Puglia, the memories we made-- that's real. That's what happened in Italy. And I love you. And I have never stopped loving you.

Liam: Please forgive me.

Taylor: Oh. Any word from Liam or Hope?

Ridge: I guess they're still talking.

Brooke: I don't know if that's a good sign or not.

Steffy: I'm sure they'll work this out.

Brooke: There would be nothing to work out, Steffy, if it weren't for you.

Taylor: (Gasps) That is not really fair, Brooke. Steffy could have blown this whole marriage apart, but she didn't. She didn't want any of it to come out.

Ridge: Look, at this point, whatever happens, that is what's meant to be.

Taylor: Right and I can accept that. Can you?

Brooke: Sure. Yes. It's the end. Hope and Liam are gonna be fine, especially now that Liam is being honest. But you... (Sighs) Have to stop all of these compromising situations.

Steffy: Will you please leave? I'd like to be alone.

Taylor: Okay, see you later.

Steffy: (Sighs)

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: Can we put this behind us?

Hope: (Sighs) Is it ever going to change, your feelings for Steffy? Are we ever going to have a normal life?

Liam: What's normal?

Hope: Not this. Do you really want me? Do you really want our marriage?

Liam: I didn't go all the way to Italy for the pasta, Hope.

Hope: Okay, then you need to prove it to me. I need to know now, from here on out, it's me and only me. You had a moment of weakness and I hate what you did to us. But you are my husband, and I love you so you have to earn my forgiveness, and you better show me every single day-- (Sniffles) So...
