Taylor: Where's Steffy?
Ridge: She'll be in soon. Doc, I want to talk to you alone.
Taylor: Okay. Let's hear it.
Ridge: (Sighs) Brooke and I got engaged while we were in Italy.
Taylor: Oh, well. I guess I can't say it's a huge surprise. You already live like you're married.
Ridge: You okay with this?
Taylor: Of course. If--if that's what you really want, then I wish you well.
Ridge: That means a lot. You and I have a lot of road behind us, don't we? I'm just happy that we've remained friends through everything.
Taylor: That's because I'll always love you.
Ridge: Doc, I feel the same way.
(Knock on door)
Thomas: (Sighs)
Taylor: Uh, did you hear the good news about your father, uh, getting married?
Thomas: You okay with it?
Taylor: Why is everybody asking me that? Of course I--yes.
Thomas: Good. Great.
Taylor: Of course, I'm okay with it.
Thomas: Where's Steffy?
Ridge: She's on her way.
Taylor: Uh, so you were on the plane with her all the way back from Italy. Is Steffy really okay?
Steffy: I'm fine. (Sighs)
Taylor: Oh. (Chuckles) Are you sure everything is okay? I-I know that it couldn't have been easy for you in Italy.
Steffy: Hope and Liam got married, and so ended a tumultuous, yet rewarding chapter in my life. It's time to move on and not dwell on what might have been.
Katie: Hey. (Laughs) Careful. You're gonna start making me think that you missed me.
Bill: Mmm, really? Well, shame on me if I didn't make that clear last night.
Katie: (Chuckles)
Bill: Mm.
Katie: Mm.
Bill: Mm.
(Knock on door)
Karen: Anybody home? Oh.
Katie: (Chuckles) Hi.
Karen: Oopsy. Sorry.
Bill: "Oopsy. Sorry"? Are you serious?
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: You gotta start working on that timing aspect of your personality a little bit.
Karen: Hey, I knocked, okay?
Katie: It's okay. Come on in.
Bill: No, it is not okay. Get out.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: Back up. Go. Whatever you have to say can wait.
Katie: (Chuckles)
Bill: I'm tying to get intimate with my wife.
Katie: (Chuckles)
Taylor: We are a little curious.
Thomas: And concerned, seeing as how you shouldn't have gone to Italy in the first place.
Steffy: Yes... (sighs) I don't know what was I was thinking, or what I was trying to prove.
Ridge: You went because you knew it meant something to Hope.
Steffy: Well, I'm only human. Look, she was disappointed, but she understood.
Ridge: I think Hope wanted this wedding to kind of ease the tensions we've all been feeling the last while.
Steffy: I'd say she fared well. Bill gave her the Spencer seal of approval, and she let you walk her down the aisle. Actually, it--it technically wasn't an aisle. I happen to know, since I saw the whole thing.
Thomas: I gotta go.
Ridge: Something tells me that's not really the call of duty.
Thomas: Actually, it was. Caroline and I are going over some preliminary sketches.
Steffy: How's that going, by the way?
Thomas: Great. Caroline is... (chuckles)
Steffy: Yeah, I know.
Taylor: Okay... you saw Liam and Hope get married?
Katie: Don't pay any attention to him. It's perfectly fine if you want to come in.
Bill: Or not.
Karen: Look, we won't take up much of your time.
Katie: Can I, uh, got you anything? Some coffee or tea or...
Bill: The kitchen is closed, Katie.
Karen: Could you stop being so rude?
Katie: (Laughing)
Bill: Rude? No, what's rude is dropping in on people unannounced.
Karen: Which you would never do.
Danielle: Something we don't ordinarily do, I assure you.
Bill: Why'd I get so lucky?
Karen: Look, it--obviously, this is an inconvenient time, but look, we're all here now--
Danielle: There's something we really need to tell you.
Bill: Well, it's going to have to wait, because as you just pointed out, I want to spend time with my wife. So, ladies, that is the door.
Karen: (Scoffs)
Caroline: So... our line is shaping up.
Thomas: Mm, thanks to you.
Caroline: Oh, you're too sweet. I'm just the finishing touches. You're the designer. And it’s been really fun getting to L.A. through your eyes. You've taken me a bunch places that it would have taken me years to discover.
Thomas: Thomas Forrester at your service.
Caroline: (Giggles)
Thomas: And I'm good with that.
Caroline: Do things always move so quickly at Forrester?
Thomas: In what way?
Caroline: Well, in the short time that I've been here, they tossed out Amber and Rick's line, and you're the new golden boy. And--and instead of working with Rick, I've been assigned to you.
Thomas: Yeah, well, you can get whiplash round here sometimes. The rule has always been if something's not working, take it back to the drawing board. I'm surprised it took so long to dump Rick and his ridiculous designs.
Caroline: They weren't that bad. But I do prefer our designs.
Thomas: Can't beat the bran trust.
Caroline: Flattery will get you everywhere.
Thomas: Have I mentioned you're he most beautiful woman I've ever seen?
Caroline: Actually, yes. But don't stop on my account.
Thomas: (Chuckles) I mean it. I-I can't get enough of being with you.
Caroline: In that case... I don't know if you heard, but the other Forrester guesthouse is vacant now that Rick moved out.
Thomas: Neighbors.
Caroline: It's just something to think about. I don't want us getting sick of each other.
Thomas: Oh, I'm not worried.
Caroline: What a coincidence. Neither am I.
Ridge: You're not mad at me? You can say so if you are.
Steffy: For what?
Ridge: For giving Hope away.
Steffy: As it should have been.
Ridge: No hurt feelings?
Steffy: Dad, you were the one who was hurting when Hope didn't want you in her wedding, acting like you weren't her, you know, "real father."
Ridge: Yeah.
Steffy: But I'm glad things worked out.
Ridge: Well, uh, we'll see what Deacon will bring to the mix now.
Taylor: Why is he even an issue?
Ridge: Oh, Mr. Sharpe suddenly got the, uh, fatherly urge to see his daughter on her wedding day.
Taylor: Since when? He hasn't even seen Hope since she was a little girl. Why now? Wh--how did Hope react?
Ridge: Like a hurt little girl who had been neglected by her real father.
Taylor: Oh, Ridge, I'm sorry. That had to be hard for you. An--and Brooke, I'm sure she had to be beside herself.
Ridge: Not happy at all.
Taylor: So where is Deacon now? Is he around here?
Ridge: Oh, he slithered away after he made contact with Hope. With any luck, never to be seen or heard from again.
Bill: This is really not a good time for chitchat.
Danielle: (Laughs) Oh, it's hardly chitchat.
Bill: Whatever. I mean, uh, which part of "I want to spend time with my wife" don't you guys understand?
Katie: But I'm sure we can pull ourselves away from each for a few minutes.
Danielle: We would have taken the hint by now if what we had to say weren't so important.
Karen: Look, give us ten minutes of your time, okay?
Bill: (Snaps fingers) This is about the job. Come on, look, okay, I-apologize. With my son's wedding, things got kind of intense. Uh, I promise you, I will give this my full attention in the not-too-distant future. Okay, enough?
Katie: Bill, for God's sake, just--
Bill: What?
Karen: Look, it's not about the job. There is something that I have needed to tell you for a very long time.
Katie: She's your sister. Just--just listen to her.
Bill: Do you not think I know that's my sister? I recognize her. And I recognize the roommate. You guys are pals, best friends, so do me a favor, go entertain her, will you? So I can give my full attention to my wife.
Karen: Okay, fine. You know what? I get it. Even though you're being incredibly subtle. You need to spend time with Katie. You've been out of town. You guys need to catch up. We'll talk about this another time.
Bill: Awesome. Let me get the door for you.
Katie: (Sighs)
Bill: As for you...
Katie: Hmm. (Laughs)
Danielle: You know what? I-I know that's your brother, but seriously, how rude is that man?
Karen: Well, he's sorely lacking in social graces, that's for sure.
Danielle: He kicked us out.
Karen: And I was all ready to tell him, too.
Danielle: Well, just stay that way, okay, because I don't want to hide in our house anymore.
Karen: Don't worry. Bill's gonna know the truth.
Danielle: Are you nervous?
Karen: I'm proud of loving you.
Danielle: While we're on the subject, have you noticed that perpetual glow Caroline's been wearing lately?
Karen: (Laughs) How could I not?
Danielle: Huh. I think our daughter's in love.
Karen: Wow.
Taylor: Okay, I-- I don't understand. Deacon was in prison?
Ridge: Yeah. But he's out now.
Taylor: Well, hopefully he'll enjoy his freedom someplace else. He's not a very safe person, Steffy. I don't want you anywhere near him.
Steffy: No worries. I'm into good guys now. Liam showed me the light.
Taylor: That's very philosophical of you.
Steffy: Well, I'm trying to learn from my mistakes, not to repeat them. (Sighs) It's just so much happened between us, moments so, you know, unexpected. And no one can take them away. And I will treasure them always. But Liam and Hope are married now. It's a new beginning for both of us.
Taylor: I'm very proud of you.
Ridge: I am, as well.
Taylor: Ohh.
Steffy: Aw, shucks.
Taylor: (Chuckles)
Ridge: All right, I'm out of here. I'm late for a meeting.
Steffy: Oh, okay.
Taylor: We'll see you later. So what did you mean when you said--
Steffy: Okay, I have to tell you something, and you can't say anything, all right? Lips sealed.
Taylor: Uh, what's wrong, Steffy.
Steffy: (Sighs) Okay, Deacon Sharpe out of prison-- I think that's Bill's doing.
Taylor: (Sighs)
Bill: Mm. Mmm. Why don't-- mm, why don't you say the hell with this day...
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: And get back in bed, huh?
Katie: No, I can't. Because I have a doctor's appointment, remember?
Bill: Mm, that's right. Right, right, right, right.
Katie: Yes, and it is fast approaching, so stop distracting me.
Bill: All right, all right.
Katie: You know, I heard through the grapevine that Deacon Sharpe showed up in Italy. You didn't have anything to do with that, did you?
Bill: I'm flattered that you think my reach goes far.
Katie: Mm-hmm. So it's that's a definitive no?
Bill: Speaking of Italy, I had an epiphany when I was there. I finally got it through my thick skull that the important thing, really, the only important thing, is my son's happiness. And if Hope provides that happiness, so be it.
Katie: Okay, either you are still really jet-lagged, or there's been some kind of personality transplant.
Bill: You can ask anyone who was here. I apologized to Hope, in front of, uh, the priest and Ridge and Brooke, and just about the entire village was there. I told Hope that I would love her as a daughter, and I welcomed her into the family.
Katie: Are you serious?
Bill: It wasn't easy.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: Well, I have my pride. It's hard for me to admit that may have been wrong. I was wrong, and I said what needed to be said.
Katie: And people wonder why I married you.
Bill: (Sighs) Now I have some words for you. I missed you. I'm no good without you.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: (sighs) People might say that I am, uh, not a particularly good person, that I do whatever it takes to get the job done, regardless of the collateral damage. But you saw something worthwhile in me, and because you did, I'm a better man.
Katie: I am so proud to be your wife and to be carrying your child.
Bill: Yeah, that's right. My--my--my--that's right, my child.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: Now we--we got a doctor's appointment to get to.
Katie: Oh, wait. Mm. You're--you're coming with me to the gynecologist?
Bill: Of course. Are they gonna use any, like instruments of torture or something?
Katie: No, no, no, just an ultrasound.
Bill: All right, let's do it.
Katie: Really? You're gonna come?
Bill: Yeah, I'm gonna come. You see, there is a first time for everything.
Katie: (Laughs) Mmm. Do you think I'm getting fat?
Bill: A little bit.
Katie: No! It is the wrong answer. Every time I ask you that question, the answer is always no. I told you that.
Bill: Okay, don't start-- don't start hyperventilating.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: Pudgy.
Katie: That's worse. That is worse.
Bill: Pudgy-in--in the- in the best way-- in the best way.
Katie: (Laughs)
Bill: 'Cause that's my kid in there. Now let's go see it.
Katie: All right. Mmm.
Karen: No. I was really unsure about this move to L.A. in the beginning. I knew that Brooke had an agenda and it wasn't just about Caroline's talent as a designer.
Danielle: Brooke wanted to find a way to get rid of Amber, and guess what? She's gone.
Karen: Yeah. Well, I just didn't want Caroline all messed up with someone else's man. But, uh, L.A.'s turned out to be pretty at.
Danielle: Mm-hmm.
Karen: I mean, she's got a wonderful job with great potential and a new young man who is very handsome.
Danielle: Thomas is very impressive.
Karen: He seems like the real deal.
Danielle: And he adores Caroline. Kind of reminds me of myself.
Karen: What do you mean?
Danielle: Well, after we first met, I kind of had that hit-over-the-head-hammer look in my eyes.
Karen: (Laughs) You know, I almost didn't go to that party.
Danielle: We would have found each other somehow.
Karen: I'm still so in love with you.
Danielle: Yeah, after all these years.
Karen: Even more now.
Danielle: Yay.
Karen: (Chuckles)
Thomas: I'm all for simplicity, but this dress... it--it needs something. I don't know.
Caroline: It needs to be shorter, like right there. And you gotta bring the neckline down... so not too deep... like that.
Taylor: (Sighs) So you think Bill got Deacon out of prison? How?
Steffy: Who knows? But he was desperate to stop Hope and Liam's wedding. So somehow he got Deacon out of jail and all the way to Italy to see his daughter on her wedding day.
Taylor: (Scoffs) Oh, my gosh. Well, if you're right, then he either blackmailed or--or bribed a pubic official to do that. And if that's the case, then Bill deserves to be the one in prison.
Steffy: (Sighs)
Katie: You look a little green.
Bill: Yeah, well, what can I tell ya? I'm a little, um, out of my comfort zone here.
Katie: (Laughs) Get out of there. You are just a big baby, aren't you just a big baby.
Bill: All right, listen, I can handle just about anything. This makes me feel a little bit squeamish.
Katie: Aw. I promise, it's all gonna be okay.
Bill: Mm-hmm.
Katie: (Laughs)
Dr. Caspary: Well, Bill, I'm glad you could join us.
Bill: Get used to this pretty face, Doc. You'll be seeing a lot of it. I'm in this pregnancy all the way with my wife.
Katie: He's, uh, feeling a little squeamish, so be gentle.
Dr. Caspary: (Laughs)
Bill: What's the game plan Doc?
Dr. Caspary: Well, we'll be doing the ultrasound momentarily. Now it's my understanding you don't want to know whether the baby's a boy or a girl?
Bill: Well, uh, that is how I felt initially, yeah.
Katie: You've changed your mind?
Bill: The suspense is killing me, and, um, I'm not real good with people knowing things that I don't now, so if it's okay with the boss here--
Katie: It is totally okay with me. I'm all for full disclosure.
Dr. Caspary: Good enough. I'll be back in a minute.
Katie: Ohh. Just think...
Bill: (Sighs)
Katie: In here is a new life, a new Spencer, a little boy or girl.
Bill: You are remarkable. You know that?
Katie: I am so lucky. I have my life. I have you. And now I have our child. In a few minutes, we are going to know if we are raising a son or a daughter.
