Bill: Sing it for me, Deacon. Say it like you mean it.

Deacon: Don't push me. I said I'll do it. That doesn't mean I have to have a smile on my face. The fact that I was never allowed to be a father to Hope is irrelevant. This is my daughter we're talking about.

Bill: Tell me when I'm supposed to be touched.

Deacon: Hey, you know what, man? I don't give a damn what you think about me. But know this-- hurting my daughter was never anything that I wanted to do.

Brooke: This isn't the discussion we should be having.

Hope: (Sighs)

Brooke: Deacon is irrelevant in every sense of the word. You're going to Italy, honey, and you're going to be married. Now that is what you should be focusing on.

Hope: (Sighs)

Brooke: Aren't you trilled?

Hope: Yes, Mom, of course I am.

Brooke: You and Liam have been through so much to be together. It's been a challenging year.

Hope: Yeah, it has, but we--we got through it, thanks to you and Dr. Barton, but there are issues that I'm still dealing with...

Brooke: (Sighs)

Hope: And--and I would like to be free of those when I become Liam's wife. And one of those big issues is my father.

Brooke: I made it very clear to you how I feel about you contacting him.

Hope: Well, Dr. Barton thinks I should.

Brooke: Dr. Barton doesn't know what she's talking about. I feel very strongly about this, Hope. You stay away from Deacon Sharpe.

Marcus: Hey, Alison, have you see my-- Hey, Pop, hey, give me a call, man, when you get this message. I want to run something by you. Later.

(Keyboard keys clicking)

Alison: Hey, Marcus. Need something?

Marcus: Yeah, I was looking for my pop. You know where he is?

Alison: Where else? Making the world a better place with Bill Spencer, whatever it takes.

Deacon: Let me ask you something. Do you have a daughter?

Bill: Son.

Deacon: How would it make you feel if you took part in a plan that you knew was designed to hurt him?

Bill: This isn't about a choice I have to make, Deacon.

Deacon: Well, I'll tell you how it makes me feel-- like piece of garbage.

Bill: All right, well, turn me down, stay in this hellhole. Hey, at last I gave you something to feel noble about, right?

Deacon: I can't stay here.

Bill: It's one or the other.

Deacon: I told you I'll do it. God help me.

Karen: Katie?

Katie: Hey. Come on in.

Karen: How are you?

Katie: I'm great. I'm good. Hi, I'm Katie-- I haven't met you--Bill's wife. (Laughs)

Danielle:  Danielle.

Karen: Hi.

Danielle: Hi.

Katie: Nice to meet you.

Karen: So where is Bill?

Katie:  Um, good question. Is he expecting you?

Karen: Uh, yeah. We have a meeting.

Katie: He's probably tied up in something he's probably stuck in traffic. That's how we live our lives here in Los Angeles. (Laughs) But I can distract you with some happy news.

Karen: Let's hear it.

Katie: I am unexpectedly ecstatically pregnant. (Chuckles)

Danielle: That's wonderful. Congratulations.

Karen: (Gasps) That's wonderful. Oh, my gosh.

Katie: Thank you. Yeah, it's pretty wonderful, isn't it?

Brooke: Why would you want to see Deacon? What has he ever done for you?

Hope: He's my father.

Brooke: In no way that counts. (Sighs) All those years, Hope, he could have picked up the phone and tried to reach out to you, but he didn't.

Hope: Yeah, because you told him not to.

Brooke: You don't want him in your life, trust me on that.

Hope: Do you really believe that having my real father abandon me doesn't account for a ton of my issues?

Brooke: How could Dr. Barton do this? How could she encourage you to seek him out?

Hope: She's trying to help me.

Brooke: Well, I'm gonna have a conversation with her, believe me.

Hope: What, are you serious?

Brooke: You know how much I love you.

Hope: Yes, of course.

Brooke: And you know I would never steer you wrong...

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Especially when I see you headed for heartbreak.

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Well, then listen to me. You keep Deacon Sharpe out of your mind forever.

Deacon: Look, I agreed to do this, so what you say you hold up your end of the bargain and, uh, get me out of here, if you're able to deliver?

Bill: (Chuckles) Boy, you've got a lot to learn.

Deacon: Yeah, that's right. You're a--you're a big man, huh, powerful and scary in mysterious ways?

Bill: I wouldn't knock it, not when you stand to benefit.

Deacon: And all I've got to do is break my daughter's heart.

Bill: Oh, you know what? Why don't you save the, uh, "tortured father of the year" routine? Spare me the self-pity, and let's just make this deal. I will get you released, and you will go straight to Hope. You even think about screwing with me, and you will look back on this incarceration as though it were the good old days. Is there anything else we need to clear up, convict?

Deacon: No, I think I've got it.

Bill: Glad to hear it. Game on.

(Flashback 1)

Brooke: (Sighs) (Sighs) Obviously, I didn't make myself clear. You promised you would leave me and Hope alone.

Deacon: Are you done?

Brooke: Depends on whether or not you got the message.

Deacon: I heard you I-I heard you ask me to stay out of your life.

Brooke: This interference of yours has got to stop. You have to stop calling me. And if you as much as set foot at Forrester Creations, I'm going to have you arrested. And I'm not kidding. Now I expect you to be on a plane first thing tomorrow morning.

Deacon: You expect, you want, you demand! You have the option of picking up the pieces and tying it up in some nice neat little package. Me, I'm here, twisting in the wind.

Brooke: Well, maybe if you didn't start drinking... (sighs)

Deacon: (Scoffs) I started drinking because you left me with nothing.

Brooke: You agreed that moving away would be best for everybody.

Deacon: It was for you. I gave you everything, Brooke. And what thanks did I get from you, huh? I get you looking at me like I'm a piece of garbage.

(Glass shatters)

(Flashback 2)

Brooke: (Gasps) Oh, my God. Hope! Oh, my God. Hope! Oh! Oh!

Deacon: Hey, baby. Oh, man, you look great.

Brooke: Give me the baby.

Deacon: She's so tiny. She's so beautiful, yes, just like her mother.

Brooke: I said give me my child.

Deacon: Oh, that's right. Hope is... your child. But one day, she's gonna want to know her daddy.

(Present time)

Dr. Barton: No, just-- just change the appointment from 2:00 to 3:00. And that sound be fine. Okay. I'm sorry to keep you waiting.

Brooke: No, I--it's okay.

Dr. Barton: You wanted to see me?

Brooke: Yes.

Dr. Barton: Is everything with Hope all right?

Brooke: Yes. (Clears throat)

Dr. Barton: Okay.

Brooke: And I'm her to make sure that she stays that way.

Dr. Barton: Okay. What can I do to help?

Brooke: (Sighs) Stacy, uh, please... (sighs) stop encouraging Hope to reach out to her biological father. Deacon Sharpe has no role in her life, and I don't want that to change. I won't allow it.

Karen: Wow, my brother as a new daddy.

Katie: (Chuckles)

Karen: Hmm. Just goes to show that you never know what surprises life has in store.

Katie: Yes, this is true. Bill thought he had a "get out of jail free" card. Liam shows up, and he's an adult-- no dirty diapers, no teenage angst, just Liam, fully grown.

Danielle: Somehow I can't imagine Bill Spencer at a changing table.

Karen: (Laughs)

Katie: (Laughs) It's gonna happen. We are gonna share the responsibilities of this baby equally.

Karen: Katie, I'm so thrilled for you... and Bill. I mean, uh, maybe having little baby wrapped around his finger is just what he needs to soften the hard edges.

Katie: I think the edges are here to stay, but we all try to love him anyway.

Karen: Well, I want you to know that you can depend on me during this pregnancy.

Katie: Thank you. I will. I won't be shy. You know what? This is weird. It--it's not like Bill to schedule a meeting and then not show up. I'm gonna give him a call and see what's going on.

Karen: Oh, don't bother him.

Katie: Oh, it's no bother.

(Telephone buttons clicking)

(Cell phone ringing)

(Ring)

Bill: (Sighs) What's up, Katie?

Katie: Hey. I could ask you the same question. Your sister and Danielle are in your office. Uh, they're waiting for a meeting that you scheduled.

Bill: Uh, yeah, listen, I'm--I-I'm not gonna make that. I'm locked up in another matter. Give her my apologies and-and have, uh, Alison reschedule.

Katie: Okay. Well, I guess I'll see you at home.

Bill: Okay. Got to go. I love you.

Katie: Bye.

Deacon: So wait a minute. What happens next?

Bill: I'll be in touch when I'm ready for you. Guard.

Deacon: (Sighs)

Karen: So, um, I guess we're not meeting with Bill after all.

Katie: Yeah, I'm sorry. You came all the way over her for noting.

Danielle: Not for nothing. We got to share in your excitement.

Katie: Oh, I'm glad you did. There's something odd about this.

Karen: What?

Katie: Well, at some point, Bill had to know that he wasn't gonna make your meeting. Why didn't he call you? I wonder what's going on.

Bill: Hey.

Justin: Hey, how did it go?

Bill: It went.

(Telephone rings)

(Telephone key beeps)

Bill: Alison, how are things on your end?

Alison: Katie's here.

Bill: Along with my sister and, uh, Danielle. Yeah, I-I-I spoke to her. What else?

Alison: Marcus is looking for Justin.

Justin: Oh. Okay. Thanks. I'll--I'll give him a call.

Bill: Is that it?

Alison: Katie has that glint in her eye. I, uh, think she's going to interrogate me.

Bill: Well, you're up the task. You know what to say. I'm looking for long-term investment opportunities.

Alison: That's quite awkward having to lie to her face.

Bill: Well, you're not literally lying. Besides that, that's why I pay you the big bucks.

(Telephone key beeps)

Justin: Your mind is a scary place.

Bill: What did I do?

Justin: "Long-term investment opportunities."

Bill: Well, I can't very well say that I'm ensuring Liam's future happiness by making sure that Hope isn't in it, can I?

(Flashback 3)

Hope: My father-- honestly, I don't think about it much.

Dr. Barton: You don't think about it, or you don't allow yourself to think about it?

Hope: He just-- you know, he--he doesn't matter to me. I've--I've gone my whole life without him. It's been fine. (Chuckles)

Dr. Barton: You really honestly think it's fine, you not knowing your father, given the circumstances?

Hope: I just-- I don't think we really need to ask about him.

Dr. Barton: Hope, I think it's important.

Hope: You know, I-I-I guess I am curious about him. And part of me wishes that he--he wanted to know me.

Dr. Barton: Maybe he does.

Hope: No, he doesn't. He--he's never contacted me.

(Present time)

(Knock on door)

Marcus: Knock, knock.

Hope: Hi. Hey, Marcus.

Marcus: Hey. What you doing, thinking about dresses of satin and lace?

Hope: Yeah. Among other things, yeah.

Marcus: Yeah. There sure is a lot of wedding planning going around here.

Hope: Mm-hmm. I know. It must be something in the water.

Marcus: Or love in the air. It's catchy, you know.

Hope: It is. You make it sound like a disease. (Laughs)

Marcus: Well, it kind of sort of is, but not in our case.

Hope: Never. No. (Chuckles)

Marcus: Oh, something tells me that there's more on your mind than just wedding plans.

Hope: Oh... (sighs) um, I just had a-a little argument with my mom earlier. I'm just--it's bothering me.

Marcus: Nothing too serious, I hope.

Hope: My mom doesn't forbid things, so when she does, it kind of gives me the feeling that... this is serious.

Brooke: I know you mean well, and I know you have Hope's best interests at heart.

Dr. Barton: Well, yes, I do.

Brooke: Well, I'm here to inform you, if she were to reach out to Deacon, that wouldn't be in her best interest. I know you don't know Deacon and neither does my daughter, but he's very dangerous, and he's very destructive. And I think if my daughter were to contact him, it would open doors for disaster.

Dr. Barton: Well, I can see that you believe that, but could you tell me why? Because in my professional opinion, Hope coming face-to-face with her father would be immensely advantageous to her emotional development. She's got a lot of issues where Deacon's concerned.

Brooke: Yes, but she would have even more issues if she were to seek him out. Stacy, you know that relationship that I had with him.

Dr. Barton: Yes, I know it started when he was married to your daughter Bridget.

Brooke: Yes. That was a terrible time in my life. And thankfully my daughter was able to forgive me.

Dr. Barton: Look, I know you're not the kind of person who would ever willingly hurt a child of yours. And that tells me that this man Deacon had an incredible connection or hold on you.

Brooke: (Sighs) I was very vulnerable, and he took advantage. He really has no conscience. He has no moral. And I don't want him anywhere near my daughter.

Katie: Alison, can I see you for a second?

Alison: (Sighs) Of course.

Katie: Did you know that Bill had a meeting with Karen and Danielle?

Alison: Um, he doesn't always tell me if he schedules something on his own.

Katie: Well, it's not like him to leave people hanging.

Alison: Bill's been preoccupied.

Katie: Yeah, I picked up on that. Is there something I should know about?

Alison: Uh, no. He's looking into long-term investment opportunities

Katie: Hmm.

Dr. Barton: Well, obviously, you have your reasons for not wanting Hope to contact her father, but... (sighs) Brooke, Hope's a grown woman. Ultimately, this is gonna be her call to make.

Brooke: I still have plenty of influence when it comes to my daughter. And I won't think twice about using it if I have to protect her.

Dr. Barton: What do you think Deacon's gonna do to Hope?

Brooke: Lie to her, use her, manipulate her emotions. Please, Stacy, stop encouraging her. You think this might be helping, but it's not. You don't know Deacon, how devastating he can be. If you really want to help Hope, convince her to run in the opposite direction.

Bill: It's crystal clear why Hope's such a whack job. This father of hers-- he's a piece of work.

Justin: (Sighs)

Bill: You throw in Brooke's crazy D.N.A.-- poor kid didn't stand a chance.

Justin: (Chuckles) So what's the plan? How does Deacon keep Hope from becoming Liam's wife?

Bill: Well, let's just say he's finally going to take care of his daughter.

Justin: (Grunts)

Marcus: You know, I would think Bill would come around knowing that the wedding was so soon.

(Cell phone rings)

Hope: Mm, I think I've pretty much given up on ever having Bill's approval. (Sighs)

(Ring)

Marcus: Hold that thought.

Hope: Yeah.

Marcus: Pop. Pop?

Hope: Something wrong?

Marcus: Yeah. Well, I can hear him, but he can't hear me.

Hope: Hmm. He probably pocket-dialed you. That happens all the time. What?

Marcus: Well, he's with-- he's with Bill. They're talking about something.

Bill: Justin, I want that messed-up girl away from my son. This is how I make it happen.

Justin: Sabotage the wedding.

Hope: Marcus, what is it? What are they saying?

Bill: If my plan works, Hope will be out of Liam's life once and for all.
