Hope: Mm. Thank you for your patience...
Liam: (Sighs)
Hope: For your love. And thank you, Dr. Barton. (Laughs)
Liam: (Chuckles) That m-must have been some session... (Laughs) You know?
Hope: It was. I mean, God, we talked about things I didn't even know that I needed to talk about. It's amazing that you can carry things around for years not knowing that they're affecting you.
Liam: Oh, yeah, issues from the past-- I got a few of those.
Hope: I know. Who doesn't?
Liam: (Chuckles)
Hope: Oh, my gosh. I can't believe how close we are to being married.
Liam: Yeah.
Hope: It's just-- it's so close. I mean, my mom is talking to hotels and caterers, and she's already starting to speak a little Italian.
Liam: Wow
Hope: I can't wait, Liam I am so ready. (Giggles)
Ridge: (Sighs)
Stephanie: May I interrupt for a moment?
Ridge: Sure you can interrupt. (Sighs)
Stephanie: What's the matter? Are you designing a wedding dress for Hope?
Ridge: I told Brooke... that I can't do it.
Stephanie: Well, good, because it would be very insensitive to Steffy.
Bill: All right, let's move on this. Alison, get the jet fueled up and ready to go. Justin, my man, you're gonna be thrilled with this news. We are heading to the cheese capital of our great country...
Justin: Hmm.
Bill: Genoa City, Wisconsin
Justin: Deacon Sharpe's current residence.
Bill: Hope Logan's father is in prison. Our boy's doing time. Why doesn't that surprise any of us?
Justin: (Scoffs)
Bill: All right, time's a-wasting. If Liam thinks he's tying the knot with Hope Logan, that cannot happen.
Justin: Liam.
Liam: Uh, sorry, I didn't know you were busy
Bill: As a matter of fact, we are busy. Uh, Justin and I are heading out of town.
Liam: W-where?
Bill: Well, there's a big deal I'm working on, and I have to tie up a couple of loose ends. I'm reachable if you need me. I love you, Liam.
Justin: We all love you.
(Steffy remembers)
Steffy: (Sighs) You're free. (Chuckles)
(Present time)
Marcus: You okay?
Steffy: Yeah. Yeah. Um... (Sighs) why wouldn't I be?
Marcus: (Sighs) Well, we, um, we want to, uh, talk to you about something.
Steffy: Okay, what's, uh, what's going on?
Dayzee: We, um, want to talk to you about a wedding.
Stephanie: I know that Brooke has a lot of things planned for Italy, but if I were you, I wouldn't count Steffy out.
Brooke: I have more than plans. I have commitments at a wonderful resort on the Italian coast.
Stephanie: Don't you think that's a little premature?
Brooke: I know you're partial to Steffy, and I'm sorry, but Hope and Liam are going to be married in less than a month.
Stephanie: And Liam's on board with this?
Brooke: Yes. He is committed to Hope, and nothing or no one is going to interfere.
Bill: Let me have that research, Justin. I'll need it to pull this off.
Justin: (Sighs) Yep, no problem.
Harlan: Mr. Spencer, welcome aboard.
Bill: Thanks, Harlan. Let's roll?
Harlan: Yes, sir.
Bill: What do you got?
Justin: There you go.
Bill: (Sighs) I'm about to meet your daddy, Hope-- Mr. Deacon Sharpe.
Stephanie: You're just in a complete state of denial-- I mean it-- to any possibility that this isn't going to work out the way you and Hope think it should work out.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Ridge: Mother has a point. This isn't resolved, not completely. Yes, it appears that Liam is going to marry Hope. But Steffy's a very intelligent girl. Why would she appear so happy and content for no reason at all?
Brooke: I said this to Liam, and I'm gonna say it to the both of you. The ball is in Liam's court. He's going to do what he wants. And I have no doubt in my mind that he wants to build a life with Hope.
Stephanie: Then you won't mind if I talk to him?
Brooke: No. Of course not. And really, Stephanie, you should think about coming to Italy for the wedding. It's going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Stephanie: As every wedding should be. I don't think I'll be there, because there will be no reason for me to be there.
Brooke: (Sighs)
(Door closes)
Brooke: Well, can't say that I didn't invite her.
Ridge: Nothing she said had anything affect on you whatsoever, did it?
Brooke: Oh, come on. You really think I'd be planning a wedding if I didn't think the wedding was gonna be happening? Look, I know this is hard on you, and it's gonna be very difficult for Steffy once Liam and Hope are married, but I will be there for her. Italy-- oh, it's such a dream... (Sighs) especially for Hope. And nothing is going to get in the way of her happiness this time.
Bill: Any more from that source of yours?
Justin: Yeah, he sent some real gritty stuff.
Bill: Gritty's good. It'll work for us. Here you go.
Justin: Oh, yeah. Thanks.
Bill: Got to lay on the pressure, make him squirm.
Justin: (Sighs) Anything on your end? (Clears throat)
Bill: Well, let's take a look here. Mr. Sharpe... (Sighs) has a rap sheet a mile long. Petty stuff mostly-- forged paintings, stolen paintings, even had a run in with the Victor Newman family.
Justin: As in Newman Industries?
Bill: Yeah, that's the guy. We went toe to toe in a couple of deals-- arrogant S.O.B. Of course, I can respect that.
Justin: (Scoffs) You know he was involved with Amber Moore.
Bill: More than involved. They have a kid together.
Justin: Yeah. Wow. This guy really gets around. He was married to Bridget Forrester, then at the same time, slept with her mother and had another child with Brooke.
Bill: Yeah, poor little Hope. I mean, no wonder she's so messed up.
Justin: So you sure you want to go through with this?
Bill: Look, I don't want to destroy the girl, Justin. I just don't want her as my daughter-in-law. I mean, Liam marries Hope, he inherits her problems, including her father.
Bill: Part of me wants to strangle the loser. But unfortunately, I have to get in the sandbox with him. I need him.
Justin: What if it doesn't work?
Bill: Not an option. It has to work. Even if Steffy weren't in the picture...
Justin: (Sighs)
Bill: I don't want my son married to the daughter of this loser. But Steffy is in the picture, and Liam is in love with her.
Justin: Yeah, but he's still committed to Hope.
Bill: If this goes as planned, my son will see Hope with all her baggage, and he's too smart to get involved with that. And then he'll run back to Steffy.
Steffy: Look, whatever happens with Liam and me, I'm not gonna freak out that my friends are getting married.
Dayzee: (Chuckles)
Marcus: Well, you know, nothing's set in stone or etched or anything like that. They're still planning.
Dayzee: But it'll be soon, though. I don't know. We just thought since Hope and Liam's wedding date is so close to ours...
Marcus: And--weddings might not be your thing these days.
Steffy: Hey, no. Anything I can do, please, count me in.
Dayzee: Okay. All right. So you're really okay?
Steffy: To be honest, I, um... I don't know what's gonna happen, but I do know Liam loves me, and that's all I need to know. He'll make the right decision.
Hope: He already has, Steffy. Hi, guys.
Marcus: Hey. Um, hey, uh, Hope.
Hope: (Clears throat)
Dayzee: Oh, well, we should go. I need to get back to Dayzee's, and this guy's gotta work.
Marcus: (Sighs) Yep.
Hope: How are things at the coffeehouse?
Dayzee: They're good. They're--they're great.
Hope: Good. Oh, good. I'll, uh, probably stop by sometime next week.
Dayzee: We'd like that.
Hope: Cool.
Marcus: Okay. (Chuckles)
Dayzee: See you guys later.
Hope: Bye.
(Door closes)
Steffy: So are you here for the marketing report? 'Cause I got the numbers. They're looking good.
Hope: You still haven't given up, have you?
Liam: (Sighs)
(Door opens)
Stephanie: So which one is it going to be?
Brooke: Your heart still isn't in it-- designing Hope's wedding gown.
Ridge: I'm sorry, Logan.
Brooke: Hope will be disappointed, but she'll understand. Steffy is your daughter.
Ridge: Hope is my daughter, too.
Brooke: Well, it is a little bit different. I can't deny that.
Ridge: (Sighs) I wonder if she ever thinks about Deacon.
Brooke: I hope not. I never wanted him to be a part of her life. And thankfully he stayed far, far away. Hopefully, that never changes.
Bill: We're about to land.
Justin: Yeah, and he's down there somewhere sitting in a jail cell.
Bill: The one person who may be able to save my son from a disastrous marriage is Hope's daddy, convicted felon. (Sighs)
Steffy: I heard about your wedding plans-- Puglia, Italy.
Hope: And what are your plans?
Steffy: Mine?
Hope: Mm-hmm, yeah, now that you're free again.
Steffy: Not quite yet.
Hope: But you will be soon.
Steffy: Well, when that day comes, then I'll make plans. In the meantime, I'm just gonna you know, live life. Whatever happens, happens.
Hope: Steffy, I want you to know that I-I'm not going to take pleasure in your suffering.
Steffy: Well, you may not have to.
Hope: Steffy, you are strong and resilient, and I really admire that. You are going to find an incredible man, I'm sure of it.
Steffy: I already have, Hope. I married him.
Stephanie: Steffy talked to me.
Liam: She told you about Aspen, everything that happened?
Stephanie: Mm-hmm
Liam: Why are you here, Stephanie?
Stephanie: Your divorce is about to be final.
Liam: Yeah, it's true.
Stephanie: So why don't you put a stop to it?
Liam: It's not that simple.
Stephanie: Oh, yes, Liam, it is that simple. Honey, marriage takes a certain talent. It's, um, kind of like playing a piano...
Liam: (Chuckles)
Stephanie: The more you practice it, the better you get at it. But you know that from your experience with Steffy-- how good it can be. And with her, it was-- it was about as good as it gets. Honey...
Liam: (Sighs)
Stephanie: Don't give up on her. Don't give up on what the two of you had together.
Stephanie: I know you've talked to Brooke.
Liam: I've talked to just about everyone, uh, or rather, they've talked to me.
Stephanie: Well, she seems to think that you're completely committed to Hope. But we both know that's not true. Oh, Liam, don't you want to be happy? Weren't you happy with Steffy?
Liam: We had our moments. But... we had our moments.
Stephanie: So you're just prepared to walk away from someone as special as my granddaughter? Is that what you really want?
Hope: Do you honestly doubt that Liam loves me, that he wants to continue his marriage with you?
Steffy: He has feelings for both of us...
Hope: (Sighs)
Steffy: A lot of issues to weigh.
Hope: You mean, that I almost crashed and burned?
Steffy: You messed up. But so did I. But we got our life back on track, and I'm glad you were able to pull it together.
Hope: Thank you. I had help.
Steffy: I know. So did I.
Hope: That's right. Your mom's a psychiatrist.
Steffy: Mm.
Hope: See, it's good, isn't it, to talk to a professional?
Steffy: Yeah. Yeah. Even if it-- it was my mom. (Laughs) Oh, man.
Hope: Let's see. My issues were stress and pills. (Chuckles)
Steffy: Yeah, and... (Clears throat) My issues were about my father-- you know, feeling abandoned. I guess you have that problem, too.
Hope: Yeah, feeling abandoned never really leaves you. But I'm dealing with that. I'm dealing with all my issues, because I just-- I--you know, I want to be free of negativity when I say my vows. And I know you don't think it's going to happen, Steffy, but it will, Liam and I are going to get married in Italy. And I know that's not what you want to hear right now, but you are his past, and I am his future. And no one is going to interfere with our happiness.
Man: Here he is. I'll be at the door.
Deacon: (Grunting) (Grunting) (Sniffles) (Sighs) Who are you?
Bill: You might say I'm your fairy godfather.
Deacon: And what do you want?
Bill: The question is, what do you want, Deacon?
Deacon: Do I know you?
Bill: I might be one of those people you, uh, swindled, extorted, stole from.
Deacon: It sounds to me like you need a lawyer. I got no use for you.
Bill: Don't make assumptions. Assumptions will come back to bite you in the ass. You see, Deacon, you're not very bright. That's why you're in here. Speaking of here, how much longer you got? What, six more years?
Deacon: Yeah, I got six more years. What's it to you?
Bill: How would you like to get out?
Deacon: (Chuckles) Yeah, right.
Bill: Right is not an answer.
Deacon: It's a stupid question.
Bill: It's a stupid answer to my question. You know, I'll tell you what. (Claps hands) Let's you and me-- let's have a little fun, because something tells me you don't get to have a lot of fun in here.
Deacon: I like games. What do you got in mind?
Bill: A quiz show.
Deacon: Ah.
Bill: That's what we'll do. We'll do a quiz show. We'll call it "How do I stop from getting my butt kicked in the joint?" Now I will ask you-- 'cause I'm the host, right? I get to be the host, because it--it's my game, and, well, I'm out here, and--and you're in there. So when I ask you, "Would you like to get out?" Your answer is...
Deacon: Sure, I'll play along. Yeah, I'd like to get out. Did you bake me a chocolate cake with a file in it?
Bill: That's funny. You see, quiz shows-- they're fun. And no, I didn't bake you a cake, but I do have an offer for you.
Deacon: What kind of offer?
Bill: What would you do to get out of this hell hole?
Deacon: Anything. I want to see my son again.
Bill: Hmm. Well, if I do get you out, you won't be seeing your son, but you will be paying a visit to your daughter Hope. And you will do exactly as I say.
