Karen: I said "No," Caroline. We are not going to get into this tonight. You just met Thomas.
Caroline: No, he's my friend, and I care about him.
Karen: I'm your mother. And we're gonna do this my way. (Sighs) Okay, now listen, this isn't open for debate. We're not gonna say anything, period, not now.
Donna: All I asked is, what's the occasion?
Katie: Well, who says I don't do this for my husband every night?
Donna: Uh-huh. Well, he should be doing this for you.
Katie: (Chuckles) I agree. You know, I think of Bill and me and how much we've grown and how much we have to look forward to. I feel really blessed.
Donna: You've also been butting heads about Hope and Liam.
Katie: Oh, we're never gonna agree about that. But I can't argue with his motivation. I mean, he loves Liam. He's just trying to be a good father.
Donna: Bill wants Liam with Steffy.
Katie: (Sighs) Yes, he's trying to be "Protective." And he goes too far. That's true. But when I think about how he reacted when he first found out about Liam, I mean, who would have ever thought that Dollar Bill Spencer would be such a family man?
Donna: Speaking of family, Brooke mentioned that, uh, Bill's sister's back in town.
Katie: Yeah. She got a place right down the beach.
Donna: Uh-huh. Have you seen much of her yet?
Katie: No. We thought we'd give her a chance to settle in. But I'm sure we'll be one big happy family in no time.
Thomas: (Sighs) Hey. Is everything all right? I didn't mean to make anybody uncomfortable asking about your dad.
Caroline: No, no, no, no. My mom just didn't expect me to bring a boyfriend to dinner, is all.
Thomas: Boyfriend?
Caroline: I'm glad you came.
Thomas: Me, too.
Karen: Coffee, anyone?
Jarrett: Yes, please. And, Danielle, please tell me that's one of your fruit pies I smell in the kitchen.
Danielle: Fresh from the oven.
Jarrett: Oh. (Chuckles)
Karen: I'll get it.
Jarrett: She makes the best. (Speaking indistinctly)
Caroline: She couldn't be more in a hurry to get this over with.
Danielle: Caroline.
Caroline: It doesn't have to be this way.
Danielle: I understand how you feel, but you're not gonna change her mind tonight. You did kind of spring Thomas on us.
Thomas: Jarrett, have I done something wrong?
Jarrett: No, no, nothing's wrong.
Karen: Pie's ready. Here we go.
Jarrett: Oh, pie!
Karen: (Laughs) Pie.
Caroline: You must be so confused.
Thomas: Oh, it's okay. I'm used to family drama.
Katie: Oh. I just got a message from Bill, and it looks like he's gonna be home soon.
Donna: Okay. Anything you need before I go?
Katie: Maybe just a hug.
Donna: (Clicks tongue) Oh, Honey.
Katie: (Laughs)
Donna: You really are feeling sentimental tonight.
Katie: Oh, I'm just thinking so much about family. I'm just so thankful for mine.
Donna: Because Bill's sister's in town and wants nothing to do with him?
Katie: That's not true! We just need to make her feel welcome.
Donna: Okay.
Katie: Bill's on his way over there right now.
Donna: Wait, I-I thought he was coming here. What--
Katie: He is. He's just gonna stop by and say "Hello."
Donna: Oh, but what about your dinner?
Katie: I'll keep it warm. I couldn't tell him. It's a surprise.
Donna: Okay. Do you want me to stick around or...?
Katie: No, no, go. It's--we'll get together soon.
Donna: I'm gonna hold you to that.
Katie: All right.
Donna: I'll call Brooke and, you know, set up a girls' night-- martinis, mani-pedis?
Katie: Okay. But I'm sure she's insanely busy planning Hope's big Italian wedding.
Donna: Oh. Well, she has to eat, right?
Katie: Mm-hmm.
Donna: So, um, I'll set up a lunch date.
Katie: That sounds even better.
Donna: Okay.
Katie: Maybe we should invite Karen.
Donna: You know, maybe you should just see how Bill's drop-by goes first. If she's as private as you say she is, an unexpected visit from your husband might send her running straight back to New York.
Katie: (Sighs) (Clicks tongue) I think that's true. (Sighs)
Donna: Yeah.
Katie: (Chuckles)
Donna: (Sighs)
Jarrett: Well, that was delicious.
Thomas: I can't remember the last time I had homemade pie.
Jarrett: Mmm.
Karen: It's an old family recipe.
Thomas: Yours?
Danielle: Oh, I just-- I put my own spin on it.
Caroline: She's being modest. Her chocolate chip cookies were famous in my school bake sales.
Thomas: So you two have known each other for a long time.
Jarrett: We all go way back.
(Doorbell rings)
Karen: Are we expecting someone else?
Caroline: No.
Thomas: Wait, aren't we expecting your dad?
Danielle: I'll get it.
Bill: Hello! Ah! Well, I'm glad I got the right house. That would have been awkward.
Thomas: (Sighs)
Karen: Bill. (Chuckles)
Bill: I heard you were having a little dinner party, hence the wine, but it would appear I'm a little late.
Karen: Well, so efficient, Bill. Where was this taken?
Danielle: Kauai.
Bill: Looks like you two girls have done quite a bit of travelling together.
Karen: I don't like to travel alone.
Bill: Of course not. Who does? You know, two ladies sharing a house on the beach-- you know what people might think, right?
Karen: Great to see you, Bill, as always. Thanks for stopping by.
Bill: You don't have to thank me. You're my sister. A pleasure. Everyone.
Karen: That... is why we're not gonna say anything.
Danielle: (Sighs)
Caroline: See? This is why I don't like secrets. It's way too stressful.
Karen: No. Being judged is stressful, and feeling that way in your own home is even worse.
Caroline: Are you questioning your decision to come to L.A.?
Karen: No. (Clicks tongue) Honey... (Sighs) I do-- I miss our life in New York. But I would miss you so much more.
Thomas: Hey. (Sighs) Thank you so much for the dinner and the dessert. It was--it was amazing.
Caroline: (Sighs)
Thomas: Thank you.
Caroline: Thomas, um...
Danielle: (Clears throat)
Caroline: I am so sorry. I know that this has been really awkward. I wanted you to be with family. Mom... I know how private you are. But please... for me.
Karen: (Sighs) (sniffles) Thomas, um... Caroline's father isn't in the picture. But... she does have two parents-- Dani and--and I. We're her parents.
Caroline: (Sighs) (Sniffles)
Karen: We're a couple, and, um, we've been together a really long time.
Caroline: These are my moms. (Chuckles) (Sniffles) (Laughs) (Sniffles) See? It wasn't that hard. And it's not a big deal.
Bill: Katie?
Katie: Hey.
Bill: Hey.
Katie: I was just about to text you.
Bill: Yeah, well, you know, if I knew what you had planned, I could have skipped Karen's and come straight home.
Katie: Mm. Mm.
Bill: Mm. Yeah.
Katie: (Chuckles)
Bill: And--and brought that bottle of wine with me.
Katie Karen doesn't drink?
Bill: Yeah, I should have gotten a dessert wine.
Katie: Oh. The dinner party was over.
Bill: If you can call it a party. Jarrett and--and Thomas were there. Now that makes for a good time.
Katie: (Sighs) Really?
Bill: Yeah. You know, it--it's bad enough Caroline is--is working at Forrester. I don't want her spending her-- her free time with those people.
Katie: "Those people"?
Bill: Yeah, Thomas and--and--and Rick, that whole messed-up Forrester clan.
Katie: And yet you want you son to marry Thomas's sister.
Bill: Uh, well, Steffy isn't like the rest of them. They're all erratic and...
Katie: (Scoffs)
Bill: And artsy. Steffy has a serious business mind.
Katie: Oh. Okay.
Bill: Oh, and, uh, I-I met, uh, uh, um... Danielle.
Katie: Uh-huh.
Bill: The--the roommate.
Katie: How did that go?
Bill: Well, I guess it was fine. I mean, she didn't really say too much. I just find it a little bit odd that my sister needs a roommate.
Katie: Well, I think it's nice that she brought her best friend out here.
Bill: You do?
Katie: Yeah.
Bill: I don't know. Uh, you know, if she needed a-a wingman, Donna's single. She could have taken Karen out.
Katie: A wingman, like you and Justin?
Bill: Yeah, exactly. Ow. Hey. Back in the day--past tense.
Katie: Yeah, those days are over, Cowboy.
Bill: Yeah, they are over, aren't they?
Katie: (Chuckles)
Bill: Mm.
Katie: Mm.
Bill: Look what you've done to me. You've turned me into a real homebody.
Katie: I know.
Bill: Mm.
Katie: Yes, our lives have definitely changed since we got married. (Sighs)
Bill: Yes, it has. It's a life I want, right here... just you and me.
Katie: (Sighs)
Karen: So, um, Thomas, I'm sure you have some questions. I mean, it's gotta be a surprise since I dated your uncle. And, um, I was actually engaged to a man once, but I wasn't being true to myself and who I really was until I met Danielle.
Danielle: Well, maybe-- maybe, um, he doesn't want to hear that story right now.
Karen: (Sighs)
Caroline: Not tonight. But trust me, you will hear it eventually. They love telling it. They think it's hilarious. (Chuckles) Thomas... this is cool. You said you wanted to meet my family.
Jarrett: Give the poor boy a minute.
Danielle: Maybe we should let you talk.
Karen: No, I-I-I want to know, Thomas, do you have a problem with this?
Thomas: I don't--I don't know what to say. I'm... (Scoffs) I feel bad. I-I'm sorry you guys felt like you couldn't be yourselves around me. It--I-I really hope I didn't offend you by asking too much about Caroline's father I just--I should not have assumed that he was even in the picture in the first place.
Karen: You wanted to get to know our daughter better.
Danielle: Why would we be offended by that?
Thomas: (Sighs) I-I'm--I'm not like this. I usually don't jump to conclusions about people.
Karen: Well, you don't have to apologize. I'm the one that should apologize. Caroline, uh... she wanted... (Sighs) Us to be honest with you, and I just... I should have trusted her judgment better.
Thomas: No. No. You wanted your private life to stay private. I can understand that. All the stuff with my sister and Liam and Hope-- believe me, I've seen firsthand how harsh and judgmental people can be. It's sad. (Sighs) Love is the one thing we should all agree on, that we all want. We all know it when we feel it and we--we can't help who we feel it about. But there are some people out there who do think love is wrong. I'm not one of those people. I think it's great that you found Danielle, and... (Sighs) I think we all should be so lucky.
Jarrett: Well said.
Caroline: (Sighs)
Danielle: Thomas, thank you so much for your support. It means so much to us and to our family.
Karen: But my privacy also means a lot, too, uh, especially where my brother is concerned. Bill cannot know bout this. That's how I want it, and that's the way it has to be. I know my brother better than anyone, I'm telling you, Bill Spencer is not a man that you share your secrets with, especially--especially this one.
Katie: (Sighs) (Sighs) I really want to talk to you about something. (Sighs)
Bill: You want to talk?
Katie: Mm-hmm.
Bill: You want to talk? You--you--you set all this up so we could talk?
Katie: Yeah, actually, I did. (Chuckles)
Bill: All right, I know what you're worried about.
Katie: I--do-- do I look worried?
Bill: You--you--you want to get close to my sister. You love all this bonding stuff. Katie... (Chuckles) I'm telling you, that's not going to happen. That's not how she is. She keeps to herself and just because she's here with Caroline, it's not gonna change anything.
Katie: But things are going to change, Bill.
Bill: Not for us.
Katie: You know what? I'm not afraid of change. I am excited for it. I can't wait to see what comes next. I'm ready for it, and I think we both are. I mean, look at us. We're stronger than we've ever been. Every obstacle, every challenge just pushes us to a deeper level...
Bill: (Sighs)
Katie: A new level of commitment and understanding. We have proven to ourselves and to each other that we are built to last, and we are as solid as we've ever been.
Bill: (Sighs) You know what you are? You are the greatest partner that I could ask for. You support me. You challenge me. You aggravate me.
Katie: Yeah.
Bill: You make me a better man. And our life is going to be filled with one adventure after another.
Katie: (Sighs)
Bill: We will continue to travel the world, and nothing is going to hold us back.
Katie: I am so excited by our marriage. I mean, so many unexpected things have happened. I mean, look at it. (Chuckles) You never dreamed that you would be a father. And--and now you have Liam, this--this beautiful young man who you love so much, who one--one day will rule your empire. (Chuckles) He's brought you so much joy.
Bill: Katie, why are you talking about this at all?
Katie: I just think that--that sometimes things happen that you never thought were possible. And... when they do, you have to cherish it. You have to treasure it. That's been true with us. And it's true again. Bill... (Sighs) Something miraculous has happened. I don't even know how it could be, but it is. (Sighs) I'm pregnant. We're gonna have a baby. (Sighs) Are you listening to me? Can you hear me? I mean, I know it's something that we never planned on.
Bill: It's not happening, Katie.
Katie: What?
Bill: You're not having this child. I won't even discuss it, Katie. You're having an abortion.
Katie: (Sighs) (Laughs)
