(Indistinct conversation)
Oliver: Thanks. Thanks.
Liam: Hey, Oliver.
Oliver: Hey, Liam. How's it going, man? Glass of wine?
Liam: uh, uh, no, thank you s-still no sign of Hope, huh?
Oliver: Haven't seen her recently.
Liam: (Sighs) I lost sight of her. I...
Oliver: If I do, I'll let her know you're looking for her.
Liam: Okay, thank you.
(Camera shutter clicking)
(Voices overlapping)
Hope: (Breathing heavily) (Grunts) Go away. Go away. Go away. Please stop, stop, stop, stop! Stop, please! (Sighs) (Whimpers) (Groans) (Sighs) (Sighs)
(Voices overlapping)
Hope: (Breathing heavily)
(Voices overlapping)
Hope: (Sighs) (Groans) Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop! Stop it. (Inhales sharply)
Brooke: You'll come? Thank you, Stacy. I appreciate any advice that you may have. I'm just so worried about her. I'll see you soon.
Stephanie: You're not worried about me, are you?
Brooke: (Sighs)
Stephanie: What's wrong?
Brooke: It's Hope. (Sighs) This trip to Aspen is a disaster.
(Cell phone rings)
Oliver: Hello.
Bill: Well?
Oliver: The paparazzi are at the house now. I don't have anything for you yet, but I'm guessing everything is going just as you wanted.
Steffy: Uh, excuse me.
Liam: And let’s just go over there and see--hey.
Steffy: Hey, you. Hey.
Liam: Uh, you know what? You go ahead. I'm--I'm gonna catch up with you over there. Did you see that showstopper?
Steffy: Yes it was super cool.
Liam: Right? I'm gonna-- uh, I'm gonna catch up with Klaus, see if I can ask him--
Steffy: Hey, um, actually, have--have you t-talked to Hope?
Liam: She's supposed to be here, but I haven't seen her.
Steffy: Yeah, she was recognized.
Liam: Oh, no.
Steffy: I know. It was intense, so you should call her.
Liam: Wait a minute. What happened?
Steffy: I was too far away to hear, but she was trying to get away, and it looked like the press was chasing after her.
Liam: Oh, you got to be kidding me.
Steffy: No, I know. It's, like, how far they would go. Look, um, I'm sorry. I just-- I thought you should know.
Liam: Yeah. No, thank you. Thank you for telling me.
Stephanie: What disaster?
Brooke: (Sighs) I should have insisted that she stay home.
Stephanie: What's going on?
Brooke: The press is harassing her.
Stephanie: (Chuckles) So what else is new?
Brooke: No. No, this is different. This is brutal even. She thought she could escape it by going to Aspen.
Stephanie: Well, that was kind of silly. I could have told her that.
Brooke: I tried.
Stephanie: No, you didn't. You encouraged them.
Brooke: Well, at first, I thought it might be good for them to get away and have a little romantic time. And then the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's probably not a great idea for her to be facing those vultures.
Stephanie: She's a big girl. She'll handle it.
Brooke: I don't know (Sighs)
Stephanie: What's going on Brooke?
Brooke: She's just been going through a difficult time lately.
Stephanie: Well, she wanted to be with Liam.
Brooke: (Sighs) Not like this.
Stephanie: All right, I know it's rough, but it'll pass. It always does. Hey, she knows that from watching you grow up.
Brooke: But I'm stronger than she is... emotionally.
Stephanie: You think?
Brooke: She can't handle the pressure, Stephanie, of being in the spotlight.
Stephanie: Well, she chose the wrong profession then, Honey.
Brooke: So what do I do, as a mother? Help me.
Stephanie: Is there something else going on?
Brooke: She's just... really fragile. And I know you're gonna blame that on me, too.
Stephanie: Well, of course I am. (Inhales sharply) She had a difficult childhood, but let's leave it at that.
Brooke: She used to be strong, very capable of anything.
Stephanie: Well, she's had a lot of practice pretending, hasn't she? I mean, from the moment that child was conceived...
Brooke: I know. (Sighs)
Stephanie: What is it?
Brooke: I think there's something you should know.
Stephanie: What?
Brooke: Hope's been... (Sighs) I think she's in serious trouble.
Liam: Hope, are you there? Hope?
Hope: Liam?
Liam: Hey, I-I just heard. Are you okay?
Hope: No.
Liam: Um, where are you? I mean, can you--can you get to the house right now?
Hope: (Sighs) I'm already at the house, Liam, and so are they. They are everywhere.
Liam: All right, I'm-- uh, hang on. I'll--I'll be right there.
(Camera shutters clicking)
(Voices overlapping)
Stephanie: Take a deep breath and then take a sip.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Stephanie: Now tell me, what's going on?
Brooke: Mm. It's just all this negative publicity that Hope is facing. It's so vicious. I'm afraid something might happen.
Stephanie: Well, let's give her a call. We'll just say we're checking in, see how things are going.
Brooke: Oh. I've already left so many messages, and my stomach is in knots. I-I really want to help. I just don't know what to do. I don't know what to say. That's why she was on the phone when you came in.
Stephanie: Oh, with Stacy?
Brooke: Yeah, she's a friend. She's a psychiatrist.
Stephanie: Oh, you want Hope to talk to a doctor. Well, that's--that makes sense. That's great.
Brooke: No, she's already been seeing her.
Stephanie: Well, if that's the case, then, Honey, I think you have to trust Hope here. You have to trust her to make the decision when she wants to call her doctor and talk to them.
Brooke: (Sighs) I just don't think she will... (Sighs) Because with all of the stress that she's had, she has not been making very good decisions.
Stephanie: What kind of decisions has she been making?
Brooke: I guess you could call it self-medicating. (Sighs)
Stephanie: Drugs or alcohol?
Brooke: No, it was-- it was something that Stacy gave her. It was anxiety medication.
Stephanie: (Sighs)
Brooke: But then somehow, she went online and she bought more on the internet without a prescription.
Stephanie: What?
Brooke: I know. No, I-I've been trying not to overreact myself. I mean, she says she's done with the pills. But I'm just worried. And with everything going on in Aspen and all the... (Inhales sharply) Pressure. (Sighs) That's why I want to get Stacy on the phone with her. All she wanted was to go to Aspen and be with the man that she loves. That was all she wanted to do. I just want to know that she's going to be safe.
Ramona: Oh, good, you're here. I'm all done.
Steffy: Yeah?
Ramona: Yep. Finished my last broadcast, and I'm ready to hit the slopes. And you're coming with me.
Steffy: (Laughs)
Liam: Hope! (Pounding on door) Hey--hey, Hope, you in there?
Hope: (Sighs) Oh. Liam.
Liam: Hey, you okay?
Hope: Yeah, yeah. They were... they were everywhere. They were looking in through the windows. It was awful.
Liam: Okay, well...
Hope: (Sighs)
Liam: I mean, they're gone now, but... I'm really sorry. I thought the house would be safe.
Hope: (Sighs)
Liam: You--you're all right?
Hope: Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. I'm so, so much better now that you're here. Hey, let's go skiing.
Liam: Uh, what?
Hope: Yeah. Yeah, I just- I-I want to feel the wind in my face and breathe some fresh air you know, doesn't that sound great? Besides, I'd like to see them try and catch me while I'm on the slopes.
Liam: (Chuckles) You know what? The lady wants to ski, we ski.
Hope: We ski.
Liam: We ski.
Hope: Thank you. Mm.
Brooke: (Sighs) Rick was here earlier, talking with a friend in Aspen. And he was saying how bad it was, how the reporters were going after Hope. I just want Stacy to get here, and I have few things to ask her. I want to get her opinion on things, and hopefully, Hope will call in when she's here...
(Knock on door)
Brooke: And I can get them on the phone together.
Dr. Barton: Brooke? Hi!
Brooke: Oh, thank God you're here! Thank you so much for coming.
Dr. Barton: Oh, yeah, no problem, no problem.
Brooke: You're such a sweetheart. I want you to meet my mother-in-law, Stephanie Forrester. This is Dr. Stacy Barton.
Dr. Barton: Oh, hi.
Stephanie: Hi. Nice to meet you, Dr. Barton.
Dr. Barton: You, too.
Stephanie: Well, uh, is it all right if I stay? (Chuckles) I'm a little worried.
Brooke: Of course.
Stephanie: Okay.
Dr. Barton: All right, what-- what can I do to help? I mean, wh-what's happening with Hope?
Hope: (Sighs) (Laughs) Oh, this is so great! I mean, just being able to just chill out.
Liam: Yeah. Yeah. I ju--I can't believe those paparazzi, though, you know? Following you onto private property, looking through windows-- my dad would-- he'd flip. And--and if it happens again, I'm calling the cops. (Sighs)
Hope: What? I'm sorry. What di--what did you say... (Laughing) My handsome man?
Liam: (Chuckles) No, I'm--I'm just saying, it must have been really freaky having them follow you all over the place, exploiting you like that. It doesn't even make sense to me. I mean, this--this whole thing has blown so far out of proportion... (Sighs)
Hope: Yeah. Totally.
Liam: (Quietly) Totally?
Alison: And why didn't we think Liam would find out?
Bill: What's there to find out? Hope gets harassed by reporters all the time.
Justin: Bill, not at this level.
Bill: You know what? When Hope has a meltdown, it won't matter who's behind it, 'cause she won't be in the picture any longer.
(Cell phone rings)
Bill: What have you got?
Oliver: Photo.
Bill: Yeah? What is it?
Oliver: She's taking some sort of pill.
Bill: A pill? Can you tell what it is?
Oliver: No, she closed the blinds, and the press backed off. But I could send 'em back if you want.
Bill: Just forward me the photo.
Ramona: Whoo!
Steffy: Whew!
Ramona: Nice one!
Steffy: Oh, man!
Ramona: Good.
Steffy: (Sighs) Tired. (Laughs)
Ramona: (Chuckles)
Steffy: Ugh. This is what I needed.
Ramona: Yeah, you're looking hot in that prototype for your Forrester ski line.
Steffy: Is it too bright? (Laughs)
Ramona: No, I love it. It's really cool.
Steffy: Oh, thanks.
Ramona: Yeah.
Steffy: Hey, here's the deal-- I don't want to slow you down, so don't feel like you have to wait around for me to catch up, okay?
Ramona: Okay, so I'll just see you at the bottom?
Steffy: Yeah, yeah.
Ramona: All right.
Steffy: Let's do it. I'll see you down there. (Chuckles)
Steffy: (Sighs)
Hope: (Squeals) Aah! Ow! Oh, my God, this is gorgeous! Liam, look at where we were skiing! Lindsey Vonn! (Laughing)
Liam: All right, all right, chill out there, Champion.
Hope: Oh, I am so chill, you don't even know.
Liam: (Chuckles) So... so far, so good, right?
Hope: Yep.
Liam: I mean, nobody hassled us on the way up the mountain.
Hope: Unh-unh.
Liam: I think, uh, I thin you're barely recognizable in your little snow bunny outfit.
Hope: (Laughs) Oh, thank you. (Laughs)
Liam: (Laughs) You ready?
Hope: I'm so ready.
Liam: All right.
Hope: Let's do it.
Liam: Yeah!
Hope: (Squeals) Aah! Wait for me! (Giggles)
Dr. Barton: So at this point, you're not even sure Hope has gotten safely back to the house?
Brooke: Rick will let me know as soon as he speaks with his friend again.
Stephanie: Tell her. Tell her the medication she's taking.
Dr. Barton: Taking? Still? I gave Hope two pills, that's it. And I told Hope that the others were not from me, and that she should toss them.
Brooke: She bought some off of the internet.
Dr. Barton: I'm sorry, the internet? (Sighs)
Stephanie: Without a prescription. I didn't know you could do that.
Dr. Barton: Yeah, you can, unfortunately. It's, uh, it's against the law. I mean, there are some legitimate pharmacies online, and I-I happen to use one of them, but, y-you know, you have to be careful. They've gotta be licensed.
Brooke: And how do you know if they are?
Dr. Barton: Well, not needing a prescription is a big red flag. Uh, usually, there's a phone number where you can call and talk to a pharmacist. If there's no address or there's no phone number, I mean, that's a tip-off right there. I mean, do you happen to know what pharmacy online she used?
Brooke: No, no, I have no idea.
Dr. Barton: Oh, well, see, now that's a concern. I mean, some of these companies, um, I've heard of cases where the--the drugs that were ordered didn't even contain the active ingredient it was meant to. This is not something you mess around with.
Brooke: Let me try Hope's phone again.
Stephanie: What sort of side effects could there be?
Dr. Barton: Every medication, virtually every medication, has some sort of side effects, but that's why you talk to a doctor. And also, that doctor should know about all the different medications you're taking. I mean, there are some good pharmacists out there that know all about medication and about drug interaction and stuff, but in this case, we have no idea what Hope's taking! We--
Brooke: Voice mail again. (Sighs)
Stephanie: What safety concerns do you have in mind?
Dr. Barton: If she takes this unknown little pill and mixes it with something else, let's say alcohol, I mean, maybe nothing would happen, but probably she'd have some, you know, impairment in her thinking, and she'd--loss of coordination and-- God forbid, she'd get behind the wheel of a car.
Brooke: Oh, my God. No, I don't even want to think about that. But you're going to tell her all of this when you talk to her. I want to make sure she gets rid of all of those pills.
Liam: Whoa. Hope, hold on.
Hope: What?
Liam: Hold on a second.
Hope: What? Why? Why? Why?
Liam: Oh, this--this thing-- this thing's coming loose. Let me just-
Hope: Oh, no, let's keep going.
Liam: Yeah, yeah, just two seconds.
Hope: No, come on. Let's go! (Laughs)
Liam: You're not gonna wait for-- Hope? Hey! Whoa, hey! Slow down, Hope!
Hope: (Screams) Oh!
