Rick: Perfect. Beautiful. I knew it was good. I didn't know it was that good.
Amber: Mm. I added that little drop-shoulder thing.
Rick: Yeah, it's just what it needed. You made it come alive. You know, you really do pull it out of me, Amber.
Amber: I do? I just want to make you look good. That's always been my goal.
Rick: Well, you do more than make me look good. You make me look like a genius.
Amber: Hmm. Then I've done my job.
Rick: What is that you're wearing?
Amber: (Sniffs) My usual.
Rick: It smells delicious.
Amber: Mm, you want a taste?
Rick: I want more than a taste.
Amber: (Sighs)
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Amber: (Sighs) (Sighs)
Rick: Hey. Am I seeing double?
Donna: (Scoffs) Please tell me I don't look anything like her.
Pam: (Laughs)
Rick: What is this?
Pam: Stephanie gave me my old job back.
Donna: After Brooke gave it to me.
Pam: Before.
Donna: After!
Rick: Whatever. Uh, so you're both on reception duty?
Donna: Yeah.
Pam: (Sighs)
Donna: Well, everyone's in Ridge's office. They're expecting you, Rick, so here is your--
Pam: So here's your agenda, and you might want to take a lemon bar with you-- fresh batch.
Donna: (Singsong voice) Or a triple fudge brownie! (Laughs)
Pam: Definitely store-bought. Probably day-old.
Rick: This should be... interesting.
Donna: (Normal voice) Oh! Allow me. (Laughs)
Thomas: Is there even a concept definition?
Ridge: Nice of you to show up, Rick. Sorry, I had a phone call. So this, uh, meeting's about my line?
Thomas: Your so-called line.
Marcus: And where Caroline fits in.
Rick: (Sighs)
Brooke: Well, she's obviously taking Amber's place. Rick will no longer be working with Amber.
(Solid thumping)
Pam: (Scoffs) Hard as a hockey puck. I'd break my teeth on these things.
Donna: You mean your dentures?
Pam: (Scoffs) Hey, you can't go in there.
Donna: Oh, no! No, no, no. I-I'll get her! I'll get her.
Brooke: And we just take this collection and--
Donna: Oh!
Brooke: Amber, what are you doing here?
Donna: Sorry, I-- I tried to stop her.
Pam: Weren't quick enough.
Ridge: Amber, what do you want?
Amber: Well, aren't you discussing our line? Shouldn't I be a part of this?
Brooke: We appreciate your contribution, but it's over. Right now, we're discussing the future of the line.
Pam: Come on, Girl. This is how it's done, Donna. Come on.
Amber: You don't-- Rick!
Ridge: Your mother's right. We do need to restructure the line, and, Amber, that doesn't include you.
Rick: Let me handle this.
Amber: Rick, do not let your mother give my job to Caroline. I've worked too hard on this!
Rick: We will talk about this later.
Pam: Help me here, Donna. This one's gotta go. Come on.
Donna: (Scoffs) What do you want me to do?
Amber: Can you leave me--
Caroline: Okay, can we treat Amber with respect? I think that she has done some lovely work.
Amber: Thank you, Caroline.
Thomas: How about Amber stays with Rick, and Caroline can partner with me?
Brooke: No, no, no, no, no. (Laughs) That's not part of the plan. Look, I-I don't really want to talk about this with her in the room.
Thomas: (Clears throat)
Marcus: Amber, listen, you really shouldn't be here right now, okay? So...
Amber: (Sighs)
Rick: That was very sweet, Caroline, what you said about Amber.
Caroline: Well, it's true.
Rick: Still, it takes a very special person to have the nerve to speak up like that.
Brooke: None of us wants to hurt Amber. It's just she's not appropriate for this company. You, on the other hand, you fit right in
Caroline: Well, thank you. I look forward to working with Rick, or whomever. I'm just thrilled to be here. It's not what I expected. (Laughs)
Rick: Why? Think we're all flaky here in Los Angeles?
Caroline: (Laughs) Trust me, I was forewarned, but you've destroyed that stereotype. I don't see any weirdoes in this room.
Jake: Oh. (Breathing rhythmically)
Amber: Hi, Jake.
Jake: Hi, Amber.
Amber: Hey, um, this one still needs some work.
Jake: Wha--it does?
Amber: Yeah, I'll take care of it.
Jake: Oka--okay.
Pam: There we go. Got to get that blood sugar going. Lots of work to do. I'll take notes.
Donna: I've already been doing that, Pammy.
Ridge: All right, can we get back to business here? Donna, Pam, we could use you out in reception.
Pam: Come on. I'll teach you some shorthand.
Donna: Can't wait.
Marcus: So I hear you two had a photo shoot this morning.
Caroline: Brooke set it up. (Giggles)
Thomas: Yeah, Rick seemed a little stiff, but you were a natural.
Ridge: I'm still not certain how we're gonna work all this out.
Rick: I thought it was settled. Caroline will be working with me on the new line.
Ridge: We'll see.
Rick: What does that mean?
Thomas: Well, you still got a lot going with Amber, plus you have preliminary sales, and it's working, so why mess with it?
Brooke: Amber is history.
Thomas: Like Caroline said, they've done some really good work. She and Rick are a solid team.
Brooke: She doesn't belong here.
Rick: You're making this very personal. It's not fair.
Brooke: Fair? After everything she's done?
Ridge: Okay, we'll pick this up later. Caroline, by the way, very nice work with the photo shoot. Is there anything you can't do?
Caroline: I can't make these, and they're pretty good.
Rick: Maybe Pam could give you a lesson.
Caroline: (Laughs)
Rick: (Chuckles)
Caroline: I think I'm gonna stick with hers. Should we meet in your office?
Rick: Sure.
Ridge: All right, thanks, everyone.
Brooke: Rick.
Ridge: Thomas, you stay here.
Rick: You go ahead. I'll be right there.
Caroline: Okay.
Brooke: (Sighs) Come on. You gotta get rid of Amber. She doesn't belong here, and she is nothing but trouble. Let... her... go.
Man: Sure, Amber, whatever you want.
Amber: Hmm, wonderful. You will go far in this company.
Man: I hope so. (Sighs) I really want to impress people around here.
Amber: Hmm. Well, do what I ask, and you will certainly impress me.
Man: You're still designing with Rick? I've heard rumors that you--
Amber: Oh, don't believe everything you hear. Rick and I are a team.
Man: And that new designer, Caroline Spencer?
Amber: She's a little bit of a problem, but... I have a plan.
Caroline: That was interesting.
Rick: I hate meetings.
Caroline: (Chuckles) You okay? I felt some tension in there.
Rick: (Sighs) You mean between Ridge and me and Thomas and me and my mom and me?
Caroline: Don't you get along with anyone?
Rick: You, or at least I think so.
Caroline: Definitely. You get along with Amber, too.
Rick: The voice in the wilderness. Thank you for speaking up for her.
Caroline: I feel for her, you know? She's talented and has tenacity and a lot of energy. (Laughs)
Rick: Yeah.
Caroline: But no friends, except for you, apparently.
Rick: Yeah, we're like old war buddies, you know-- spent so much time in the trenches. Sometimes we're shooting at each other, sometimes not.
Caroline: So she's a good friend, in other words.
Rick: That's fair. She gets me. I get her. But, you know, enough about Amber. What about you? You up for dinner tonight?
Caroline: You mean here at the office while we work on all the designs? (Laughs)
Rick: That's not dinner. That's overtime.
Caroline: Oh, you mean at a restaurant with, like, a waiter?
Rick: Yes--we--we do have those here.
Caroline: Honestly?
Rick: Would you let me prove it to you?
Caroline: Yeah, you're on. Dinner sounds great. You can tell me all your secrets.
Rick: (Chuckles)
Amber: Sweet. Very pretty. Ooh, just a few more shots. (Giggles)
Man: Amber, this is too weird.
Amber: Oh, come on. It's fun.
Man: I don't want anyone seeing these prints.
Amber: Relax. No one will ever know it's you.
Man: What are you doing with this?
Amber: I have a plan.
Man: You said that before.
Amber: All's fair in love and war, and this... is war. (Chuckles) Hmm.
Brooke: You want her for Thomas, don't you-- Caroline?
Ridge: It's not up to me. It doesn't matter what I think.
Brooke: Well, of course it does. He's your son.
Ridge: He's a grown man. Thomas doesn't need anyone fighting his battles any more than I did.
Brooke: (Sighs) That's what worries me.
Ridge: Ohh, you're afraid he might win the lady's heart, huh, like his dad did?
Brooke: Exactly. (Sighs)
Ridge: I suppose I'd be a little concerned, as well, if I were you.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Pam: (Pouring water)
Donna: Can you give my plant some water, too?
Pam: (Sets down pitcher)
Donna: (Scoffs)
Thomas: Hey.
Caroline: Hi.
Thomas: Quick question-- uh, shrimp or lobster?
Caroline: Shrimp, always.
Thomas: Good. Pick you up at 7:00.
Caroline: Pick me up?
Thomas: For dinner tonight.
Caroline: That was a dinner invitation?
Thomas: Everyone's gotta eat, and that was a menu choice.
Caroline: I have plans tonight.
Thomas: Okay. Tomorrow works.
(Cell phone alert chimes)
Caroline: Oh. Mm. I have to go.
Thomas: (Chuckles) So we're on then?
Caroline: Dinner tomorrow? Sure, why not?
Thomas: Okay. Don't stay out too late tonight. (Sighs)
(Knock on door)
Rick: Come in.
Jake: (Sighs) I'm sorry.
Rick: About time. (Sighs)
Jake: Yeah. Amber had this one. She just took it off the rack.
Rick: What did she want with the dress?
Jake: (Sighs) Uh, some--some changes, I guess. Just, uh, said it needed some work.
Rick: Hmm.
Jake: What's going on with you two?
Rick: The usual. My mom wants to fire her.
Jake: Oh, jeez.
Rick: She's gonna be around a while.
Caroline: You wanted to see me?
Amber: Oh, these photos are great, Caroline.
Caroline: I guess they turned out pretty well, Brooke and Rick walked me through it.
Amber: Oh. You two are good together.
Caroline: Trust me, we aren't doing any more photo shoots.
Amber: Well, maybe not, but you do feel the connection.
Caroline: Amber... I want to talk to you about something.
Amber: What?
Caroline: I didn't come here to steal your job. It really bothers me the way that they're pushing you out.
Amber: Hey, you know, it's just business. It's nothing personal. I mean, Brooke she hates me, and Rick feels the opposite. So, uh, no hard feelings, okay?
Caroline: Okay.
Amber: (Inhales sharply) You know, Rick, he always, uh, gets what he wants, so I'm not worried.
Caroline: You two have a very interesting relationship.
Amber: Well, we understand each other.
Caroline: It means a lot.
Amber: Sure does. I mean, intimacy-- that's everything.
Caroline: Oh, so you two...
Amber: (Scoffs) Oh, yeah-- mm, now and then.
Caroline: Oh, I see.
Amber: No, you probably don't, because you don't know him that well, you know? (Chuckles) All his little secrets. I mean, Rick, he is a great guy. I mean, he's incredibly creative. He--he just--he gets it, you know, the way a woman wants to feel in her clothes. I mean, designing is-- is very personal for Rick.
Caroline: Personal?
Amber: Yeah. I mean, just the way he connects with the designs that he creates. I mean, look at this dress, hmm? Look. Look. And that. I mean, it's-- it's just beautiful. It's--oops. (Inhales sharply)
Caroline: No, wait. I'm sorry. Go back.
Amber: No, I-I don't think so.
Caroline: No, g-- I want to see it. Go back.
Amber: Okay.
Brooke: Ridge, it's... (Sighs) It's really important to me that Rick stay away from Amber.
Ridge: I agree.
Brooke: Okay. So then you would agree that, um, maybe Thomas should give Caroline and Rick a little space.
Ridge: Are you saying I should ask my son to back off?
Brooke: (Chuckles) I'm just saying, don't encourage him.
Ridge: Whoa. Did I ever need encouragement going after you?
Brooke: We're talking about Thomas.
Ridge: Yes, and he's very much his father's son, and he usually does what he pleases.
Thomas: You got that right, Dad. I asked Caroline out to dinner.
Brooke: She's busy designing with Rick. They have a lot of work to do.
Thomas: That's probably why she couldn't make it tonight.
Brooke: I'm sure.
Thomas: Yeah, so we're going tomorrow night instead.
Brooke: What? No! No, no, Thomas, look, I-I don't want you to be disappointed. I mean, it's so obvious that Rick and Caroline care about each other. You can see it when she looks at him.
Amber: I think we should go to another picture.
Caroline: That's Rick!
Amber: (Gasps) Hey, you know what? Let's--let's check out that girl again. Yeah--
Caroline: No, go back, Amber.
Caroline: What is he doing?
Amber: He’s... modeling one of our... designs.
Caroline: Why? He's using himself as a fit model for one of his dresses.
Amber: No, not... exactly.
Caroline: What are you saying?
Amber: He likes to wear women's clothes. You know, not all the time, but...
Rick: Amber, I love this dress. It's sexy as hell. The fabric-- Caroline, I didn't know you were here.
Caroline: You like that dress?
Rick: Oh, heck, yeah. You should feel this fabric. I've gotta order more of this. Hey, I found a great restaurant just opened up, it's getting rave reviews. I was lucky enough to get a reservation. How does 7:30 sound to you?
Caroline: Uh, I am sorry, Rick. I have to cancel.
Rick: I don't get it. We had plans.
Caroline: Uh, something... (Clears throat) Came up that I didn't anticipate. I have to go.
Rick: Wait, what's the deal?
Rick: Amber, did you say something to her?
Caroline: Uh, no, Amber had nothing to do with this.
Rick: No, seriously, Caroline, what is the deal? What's going on? How come you're canceling on me?
