(Hope is in her car)

(Engine turns off)

(She remembers)

Dr. Barton: I gave you two pills, Hope. If there are more pills, they were not prescribed by me.

Amber looks at the bag of pills. Rick walks in from the other room.

Rick: No, no, I'll return his phone call.

Amber: Hey, Rick. ( Sighs)

(Door closes)

Bill: Oh, ho, ho! The prince.

Liam: You know, there's this--there's this thing that polite people do when they drop in on one another, especially when they don't call in advance. It's called--wait for it-- knocking.

Bill: So I give you a day on to, uh, sloth around the Forrester pool, not realizing it would become a habit. How come you're not in the office?

Liam: I know. I know. I just needed to be alone, hear myself think.

Bill: Yeah, I know you've had a lot on your plate, having to deal with the press, but listen, it'll pass. The next hot story will come along, and Hope will be yesterday's news. How's she holding up?

Liam: Oh, you don't need to worry about Hope. Not that you actually were. But, uh, we're gonna be just fine.

Woman: There she is!

All: Hope!

Woman: Hope, how can you ever show your face?

Man: Just give a statement and we'll leave you alone.

Woman: Anything, for your fans?

Man: Hope, give us something. Give us anything. Hope!

Woman: Hope!

Man: Give a statement and we'll leave you alone.

Woman: Any comment. Anything at all.

Hope: Uh...

Man: Hope, do you have anything to say to your fans? Do you have any regrets?

Woman: Say something.

Man: You betrayed the trust of gullible young women.

Woman: No comment?

Man: Do you have anything to say?

Woman: How about reports that you're living with a married man? You must have something to say to that, Hope.

Hope: Please, can I--can I please just get by, please?

Man: They believed in you, Hope. What do you have to say for yourself?

Hope: Guys?

Man: Please back up.

Man: Hope, they're calling you a fraud.

Woman: Hypocrite.

Woman: Lots of girls feel that way.

Woman: What do you say to that?

Hope: Can I just get through, please?

(Voices overlapping)

Marcus: That's enough! I need everybody off this property now. You need to be doing your job a little bit better. Move. You think I'm playing? Are you okay, Cousin?

Hope: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm fine. I'm just really glad that you're here.

Marcus: I'll deal with you later. Hope, come on, let's get out of here.

Hope: Okay, thank you.

Bill: Anything I can do to help?

Liam: (Sighs)

Bill: Offer some, uh, fatherly advice, give you the benefit of my vast experience?

Liam: No need.

Bill: You and Hope getting along okay?

Liam: Uh, there was a... (Sighs) There was a storm, but we're good now.

Bill: Well, storms are part of the territory when you're involved with a Logan.

Liam: Huh, there it is. There's the voice of experience.

Bill: Of course, there's storms and then there are. Storms.

Liam: Don't--do not start.

Bill: Did I say anything?

Liam: No, because I didn't give you a chance to anyway, it's probably not good to talk about Hope right now.

Bill: Fine by me.

Liam: Oh. Something you might be interested in. Guess who dropped by today? Amber.

Amber: If it isn't the elusive Eric Forrester Jr.

Rick: "Elusive"?

Amber: I used to be able to come in here and find you in your office, and lately, not so much.

Rick: Well, that's a good thing. It means I've been working on the line--you know, meetings and so on.

Amber: Mm. Well, it's our line. And how come I'm not included in these meetings, hmm?

Rick: You know why.

(Knock on door)

Amber: (Sighs)

Rick: Caroline. Come in.

Caroline: Not if you're in the middle of something.

Amber: Oh, come in. Join us it's really great to see you.

Caroline: (Sighs)

Amber: (Giggles)

Bill: Well, what the hell was Amber doing here?

Liam: She wanted to check up on Hope and me.

Bill: If you believe that for even one second, not only am I gonna come over there and smack you in the head, I got to disown you.

Liam: Uh, it was sweet. She seemed sincere.

Bill: That's Amber's stock and trade.

(Cell phone rings) (Ring)

Liam: Gotta take this.

Bill: By all means.

(Ring)

Bill: Give Hope my regards.

(Ring)

Liam: How's it going?

Hope: Oh, I've been better.

Liam: Oh, you sound upset.

Hope: It's just--it's just more of the same-- a bunch of hostile press waiting to unload on me and pressure me for a statement. (Sighs)

Liam: It really got to you, huh?

Hope: Yeah, it did, uh, you know, at first, but I'm... I'm fine now. I'm fine.

Liam: Yeah? Well, maybe you should... (Quietly) Maybe you could, um, talk to your... shrink, you know, if you're feeling anxious. I could just-- I could come over.

Hope: I can't go running to her every time I have a run-in with fans or the media. I-I'd be in her office four times a day. I can't pull you away from work. I just--I... (Sighs) I have to handle it. (Sighs)

Liam: (Normal voice) Okay, well, listen, um, about the, uh... (Quietly) Um, about the...antianxiety meds, just be careful, okay?

Hope: I will. Trust me, I'd rather not take them-- only if absolutely necessary.

Liam: Cool. Sounds like you got your head on straight. All right, I love you. Okay, bye. (Sighs) (Sighs)

Caroline: I wanted your opinion on something-- you, too, Amber. I am blocking on this design. There's something missing. It's wrong. And I cannot see what it is.

Rick: Neither can I. It's a--it's a--it's a beautiful dress, Caroline. It's sexy. It's sleek. It's elegant.

Amber: Yeah, it's the sleeves.

Caroline: Uh, you think?

Amber: Here, let me-- let me show you.

Caroline: Yeah.

Amber: Yeah? Okay. Um. Look. You want to do one shoulder, because it's coming back, so just, you know, eliminate. This sleeve here and...

Bill: Well, I guess I don't have to pretend I didn't just hear what I heard.

Liam: You shouldn't here been listening in the first place.

Bill: I'm just sitting here minding my own business. What do you want me to do?

Liam: How about a little respect for my privacy, for one?

Bill: Your privacy? You want privacy, next time, go in another room.

Liam: (Sighs)

Bill: Listen, that's beside the point. Look, I have been telling you that Hope was unbalanced.

Liam: She's been, uh, taking prescription pills to alleviate severe anxiety does not make somebody a-- unbalanced.

Bill: So when's the last time you felt the need to pop a pill to get through the day?

Liam: You know, it's funny you say that, because I-I-I think I'm feeling that right now, actually.

Bill: Oh, you know what? I'm glad that you can make jokes about your girlfriend, but I think it's pretty serious business here, because there's no cure for what ails Hope. Sure, you can take, uh, medication, but that's just a band-aid. Crazy is forever.

Liam: You know, I so appreciate how warm and fuzzy you are. For the last time, Hope is not crazy!

Bill: Then why is she seeing a shrink?

Liam: (Sighs)

(Cell phone rings)

Hope: (Sighs) Dr. Barton, hi.

Dr. Barton: Hi, Hope. I just wanted to call and apologize for ending our last session so abruptly.

Hope: Oh, no problem.

Dr. Barton: How are you feeling?

Hope: A little rattled... (Sighs) At the moment. I, uh, just had an unpleasant experience with some press on my way into work.

Dr. Barton: Are you taking those pills?

Hope: No. No.

Dr. Barton: Good. Please don't. Toss them, all right? That way, you won't be tempted.

Hope: Are you sure that that prescription didn't come from your office-- some kind of clerical mix-up or something?

Dr. Barton: I am positive.

Hope: Okay. Then I-I don't understand where those extra pills came from.

Dr. Barton: Neither do I. That's why I don't want you ever taking them, so please throw them out.

Hope: Okay. Uh, well, thanks for checking in.

Dr. Barton: I'll see you soon.

Hope: Yep, bye.

Steffy: Hope, I-I saw what happened outside. I mean, that was awful.

Hope: Yep. (Sighs) They're like vultures. I just want to scream at them, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop. (Inhales sharply)

Steffy: I would have gone for it.

Hope: Know, but, uh... (Inhales sharply) It would have given them what they wanted-- the money shot. But, you know, "Lying hypocrite adulteress Hope Logan freaks out--film at 11:00."

Steffy: I'm sorry.

Hope: (Scoffs) Are you? (Scoffs)

Steffy: Sure, yeah, the pressure is unbearable. Hope, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Hope: You know, all this would go away... Liam and I could get married.

Steffy: That's the plan, right? Soon enough.

Hope: Yeah, that's... that's just it, Steffy. It isn't soon enough. Your timetable does not work for us. So don't be surprised when Liam comes to you and asks you for the annulment again. Do the right thing this time, Steffy. Give it to him. That way we can all get on with our lives.

Caroline: I love what you did with this. Ah, you have such a great eye. Thank you so much.

Amber: Well, yeah, you know, anytime. And--and I hope it's mutual, you know, if I get stuck.

Rick: That was Marcus. Apparently, Hope had to fight her way through a crowd of reporters just to get in the building.

Amber: Oh, poor thing.

Caroline: Is she all right?

Rick: Marcus says she is, but I’m concerned.

(Cell phone alert chimes)

Caroline: Oh, Brooke wants to see me. Thank you so much again for the assist.

Amber: Glad I could help. (Chuckles)

Caroline: (Chuckles)

Rick: I'll walk with you.

Caroline: Oh, thank you.

Amber: (Sighs)

Hope: Aren't you done, Steffy? You, me, Liam-- just give him the annulment. Once it's done, you can move on. You can find your own happiness.

Steffy: Already did... with my husband. Okay, I know that you are really stressed out, and I'm sorry, okay, with everything that you're going through, but this situation is of your own making. You got involved with a married man. There's a price to be paid for that. This will work itself out in due time. Until then... (Sighs) As I said before... I sign nothing.

Hope: (Sighs) (Sniffles) (Breathing heavily) (Sighs)

(Computer alert beeps)

Hope: (Sighs)

Amber: "Disreputable pharmacy warning. Web site shut down. Under investigation for"... (Sighs) "Possibly tainted drugs, out-of-date medication, sometimes highly addictive"...

Hope: (Breathing deeply) (Sighs)

Steffy: Liam, I need to talk--

Bill: Nope. Just little ol' me. Liam's with Hope.

Steffy: Well, I'm afraid he's in for a disappointment...

Bill: Why is that?

Steffy: I just spoke with Hope. (Sighs) She won't admit it, but I know it's her idea.

Bill: How much am I gonna hate this?

Steffy: She managed to convince Liam to ask me for an annulment again.

Bill: She's like a dog with a bone, isn't she?

Steffy: Yeah, she is. You know, look, I get everything that she's going through, all this pressure she has to deal with, but I'm not going to annul my marriage.

Bill: Good, 'cause I believe now more than ever...

Steffy: (Sighs)

Bill: That you're the right woman for Liam. Hope's a head case.

Steffy: Okay, you--you always say that.

Bill: And the facts back me up.

Steffy: What are these facts?

Bill: Not only is hope seeing a shrink, she's popping pills.

Hope: (Sighs) I know I said you didn't have to come over, but I am so glad you're here. (Sighs)

Liam: Yeah, well, I figured you could use a friendly face. It hasn't been an easy day so far, has it?

Hope: Mnh-mnh.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Hope: But it's much better now. , Um... Steffy's looking for you. I kind of asked her to sign the annulment papers. (Inhales sharply)

Liam: (Groans)

Hope: (Sighs) I blew it, didn't I?

Liam: Well... (Chuckles) I mean, we're no worse off than we were before.

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: We're closer together.

Hope: Yep, worse when the whole world watches and judges everything we do. I'm not sure how much more of it I can take.

Liam: Hey. You're not alone, remember you have me, and we have nothing to be ashamed of, okay?

Hope: Thank you for reminding me. Mm.

Liam: All we have to do is wait a couple more months, okay?

Hope: Right. (Sighs) I can do that. (Sighs)

Steffy: So where are you getting this from, your own tabloids?

Bill: Liam was on the phone with Hope. He said something to her about seeing her shrink? And then he cautioned her about the anti anxiety pills she's taking. I've been saying it forever, haven't I? The girl is mentally unstable.

Steffy: Okay, okay. I've been--been in therapy...

Bill: (Sighs)

Steffy: Taking pills for stress, uh, that doesn't mean she's nuts. But it is a reason for concern. (Sighs)

Bill: Hope is going to shatter like a piece of glass one day. I feel it coming. She can't hold it together. My son is hooked up with a head case, and Hope is going to drag Liam down with her. I won't have that. He deserves better. He deserves you. And he's gonna realize that soon. So you stick to your guns. Stay strong, stable, and above all else, sane. Liam will come back to you.

Amber: (Sighs) (Breathing heavily)

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: There's that smile back on your face.

Hope: Mm.

Liam: Are you feeling better?

Hope: Mm. Much better.

Liam: Good.

Hope: Mm. (Sighs)
