Brooke: Mm.

Ridge: (Sighs) Oh, thank you. I needed that.

Brooke: You're worried about hope for the future.

Ridge: Among other things. I'm letting your son have a little fashion preview out on the showroom bridge.

Brooke: I didn't know he was working on Intimates.

Ridge: He isn't it seems kind of pointless with Steffy in Aspen. I told her she could put the kibosh on his involvement, not that he really minds-- gives him more time to spend on his own line.

Brooke: How did he come up with the other designs? I certainly hope he's not working with Amber again.

Ridge: Well, he knows how much we both disapprove, but Rick pretty much does whatever he damn well wants. If he does plan on bringing Amber around here again, I think I might pull the line.

Brooke: Let's not do anything rash. Rick has some really good ideas. He just needs somebody suitable to work with... and it's not Amber. That girl is just trouble.

Rick: Hey. This is kind of a public place. What are doing standing in front of the showroom?

Amber: I know. I-I've been trying to be inc-- incognito, Rick, but it's just so hard. You know, I'm--I'm so proud of our designs, and I'm so excited about the preview. So this is where you want to have it, right here on the bridge?

Rick: Yeah, you like?

Amber: (Sighs contentedly) Let's celebrate tonight.

Rick: Celebrate?

Amber: Yes. Eric Forester Jr.'s huge success. (Giggles)

Ridge: It irritates me that Rick's really pushing forward with this line, which at best, was supposed to be experimental.

Brooke: His first designs tested really well.

Ridge: Amber's designs, you mean.

Brooke: No, they were his designs, his concepts. Amber just sketched them. Anyway, we need to find somebody new that he can collaborate with. I've been looking at designers, and I think I've found the ideal person.

Ridge: Who?

Brooke: Well, somebody young and talented, female.

Ridge: Well, that would be a good distraction for him.

Brooke: Look at this design.

Ridge: She's good. What's her name?

Brooke: Caroline Spencer.

Brooke: I'm serious. It's Caroline, Karen's daughter.

Caroline: I see you lied.

Karen: Did I?

Caroline: About going to Paris. I know what the ocean looks like. (Laughs)

Karen: I merely failed to correct you. It's not the same as lying.

Caroline: Oh, you and your surprises. I hope I packed right. I didn't bring a swimsuit.

Karen: They sell them on every corner in L.A.

Caroline: L.A.?

Karen: Yea. Now I know the pale look is in, sweetheart, but you could use a little sunshine.

Caroline: I might die of boredom. Mom, you said that this was gonna be a vacation. Are you dragging me on one of your business trips?

Karen: Actually, you're dragging me on one of yours. I got a call from someone in a top fashion house who saw your sketches and wants to meet you.

Caroline: Seriously? Why didn't you tell me? (Laughs)

Karen: Well, you know me and my little surprises.

Caroline: Monique Lhuillier?

Karen: No.

Caroline: A top fashion house in L.A... Forrester Creations?

Karen: As soon as we land, you, my darling, have a meeting with Brooke Logan.

Caroline: (Laughs)

Ridge: Caroline Spencer.

Brooke: Somebody with obvious talent, somebody who would complement Rick and fit in perfectly at Forrester Creations-- the complete opposite of Amber Moore.

Rick: You should go before someone realizes that you're here.

Amber: Okay. So, um, tonight's good for you? A little celebration, just the two of us?

Rick: Yeah, sure. Shoot.

Amber: Okay, bye. Bye.

Marcus: I would do the same thing as you, you know.

Thomas: I would never do the same thing.

Oliver: Oh, I don't know about that, man.

Marcus: Okay, I'm just sayin'. Yo, Rick, what's up? Checking out the location?

Rick: Yeah.

Thomas: (Clears throat)

Oliver: It's a pretty cool place for a show.

Rick: I think it'll work.

Thomas: Must be nice, having this preview, and you're not even a designer. Meanwhile, can't even mention Taboo.

Rick: Yeah, Thomas, it is nice, but it really has nothing to do with my line

Thomas: No, I know. I'm just saying, it's kind of funny, right? I mean, when I design, I don't have to go to Amber to draw my sketches.

Marcus: Hey, okay. Guys, look, I'm pretty sure it was just an idea to get things going, okay? And besides, Rick's not Amber Moore.

Thomas: Want to bet?

Ridge: She's got quite a range.

Brooke: Exciting, isn't it?

Ridge: Something about it feels right-- Caroline, here with us. Let's hope we like her.

Brooke: (Chuckles) How could we not? I could hear the pride in Karen's voice when I talked to her over the phone. And I'll bet that Caroline is a lot like her aunt in more ways than just her name.

Ridge: Look at the detail in this one. It's very nice.

Brooke: She could really be the one to bring Rick's concepts to life. Talented, intelligent, gorgeous-- just the kind of girl I always wanted for Rick.

Karen: Honey, you've met Katie, right?

Caroline: Mm-hmm, last fall. She came to New York with Uncle Bill. Remember?

Karen: Ohh.

Caroline: I recommended my friend's restaurant. You all complained about the noise.

Karen: Oh, yeah. Well, if you can't carry on a conversation, what's the point?

Caroline: (Chuckles)

Karen: Let's let Bill pick.

Bill: What am I picking?

Karen: Oh! (Chuckles) Hi. Uh, a place to eat, if you and Katie are available tonight.

Bill: You're in town?

Karen: About to be. We're gonna land in just a minute. I'm with Caroline.

Bill: Who?

Karen: Your niece.

Bill: Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, d-do we have business I'm forgetting?

Karen: Can't I just come to visit my favorite brother?

Bill: I suppose.

Karen: Actually, I'm here for Caroline. She has a meeting with Brooke.

Bill: Logan?

Karen: Well, you know I told you Caroline wants to get into fashion.

Bill: So this is some kind of favor?

Karen: Oh, no. No. Brooke called me specifically, because she wanted to meet her. She saw some of her sketches. Uh, why don't I give you a call when we're settled in?

Bill: Okay. Ahh.

Katie: Hey. You're not going in to the office today?

Bill: Eventually.

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: I've already accomplished more this morning than most people do in a week, so... no reason to rush in.

Katie: Oh. Mm. Mm. (Chuckles)

Bill: Do we have dinner plans?

Katie: Uh, not that I know of.

Bill: Well, we do now. Guess who's in town?

Katie: Hmm... Caroline Spencer?

Rick: Yeah, Amber helped me. So what? I don't draw. I don't pretend to draw. We're all gonna benefit from the sales. You should just be appreciative that we have anything to show, after everything our company has gone through the last few months.

Oliver: Speaking of the show, uh, do--do you want to talk about the music?

Rick: Yeah, this afternoon, my office, all right?

Oliver: Okay, cool.

Marcus: Uh, yeah, um, Thomas, do you want to show me where the changing area's gonna be?

Thomas: Yeah, come on.

Marcus: Okay--

Rick: You know, actually, I don't like that over there. I think we'll have a much better opportunity to set the lights over here.

Thomas: (Scoffs) Whatever, man. It's your preview.

Oliver: (Chuckles)

Marcus: (Chuckles)

Amber: Wow, that was close.

Rick: Yeah, yeah. We have to be more careful.

Amber: I know. I know. I'll stay away. Hey, um, thank you for what you said about me to Thomas. I wish your family could understand. I'm not some big, bad menace. They don't have to foam at the mouth every time they see me, you know? I mean, jeez. I just--I just want to help.

Rick: I know.

Ridge: Not anymore.

Bill: So you knew she was coming.

Katie: Yeah, Brooke says she's really excited to meet Caroline.

Bill: This is some kind of job interview?

Katie: Kind of. I know she's looking for a new designer. I think it would be great to have Caroline in town. I'd love to get to know her better.

Bill: Well, as long as she doesn't expect me to be, uh, a babysitter. I mean, I hardly know the girl. And I don't have the time or the desire to keep her out of trouble.

Katie: (Sighs) Well...

Bill: It's enough for me looking after my son.

Katie: Something tells me that Caroline is not a whole lot of trouble.

Bill: Well, we'll see about that. And you know what I mean, anyway. I-it's another person to invite over for Christmas. It's an--it's another birthday to remember. I hate this.

Katie: I know, it's awful. It's just awful.

Bill: (Sighs) Yeah. It will be good for Liam, though. I mean, he doesn't know his cousin. He missed out on a lot growing up the way he did.

Katie: Same as you. I think it'd be a great thing for all of us. And don't worry-- I'll remember the birthdays. (Squeals) (Giggles)

Karen: Buckle up, sweetheart. We're about to land.

(Seat belt clicks)

Caroline: I thought I saw smog out there.

Karen: Caroline, if Brooke Logan likes you as much as she likes your designs, you realize this could be your new home.

Caroline: It seems a shame to come all the way out to L.A. to get into fashion. I mean, we live in New York, the center of the industry.

Karen: But how many people can say they got their start at Forrester Creations?

Caroline: I like the sound of that. (Chuckles)

Karen: And your uncle's out here. He will keep an eye on you.

Caroline: Oh, did he arrange this? Is that why Brooke Logan likes my designs so much?

Karen: No, absolutely not.

Caroline: He owns part of the company. He's married to her sister.

Karen: Yeah, well, I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it. Brooke called me personally to talk about you. She saw your designs, and she was really impressed. Honey, you are such a gifted designer. She was excited. I could hear it in her voice. Okay? So smile? Pretend like you love L.A.

Caroline: (Laughs)

Karen: This could be a huge opportunity.

Ridge: Amber, what the hell are you doing here?

Amber: Um, Rosey-- I handed Rosey off.

Brooke: Oh, well, that's funny. We just saw Marcus, and he didn't seem to have her.

Amber: Well, uh, her diaper bag. I mean--

Ridge: You're not welcome here, and you know it.

Rick: I really don't see why it's a problem for Amber to work with me.

Ridge: 'Cause she's supposed to be invisible, Rick. She's not supposed to show her face. I don't want to see her around here at all!

Rick: We work well together. She's a great designer. I know that that's hard to understand, given our history, but people change. Amber changed. She's a mother now. She's got other priorities, and frankly, she's good for me.

Brooke: Rick, I want you to have this line, and I'm so happy that you're designing and you're succeeding, but not with Amber.

Ridge: You need to cut the ties.

Amber: This is so unfair! No, I hardly have anything to do with this. This is Rick's designs. It's his concepts.

Brooke: Right. That's why he doesn't need you. He could work well with any designer, and I think I have somebody in mind.

Amber: What?

Brooke: Rick needs somebody to collaborate with, and I found the perfect woman. I'm sorry, Amber. You're being replaced.

Katie: Mm. (Giggles)

Bill: Mm.

Katie: We're never getting out of bed, are we?

Bill: Mm, it is a good idea.

Katie: Mm.

Bill: Hide in bed all day, avoid dinner with my sister.

Katie: Oh, come on. I know you love spending time with Karen. I know you do.

Bill: Yeah, funny. You know, I used to be able to tolerate her when we only talked about business, but now, since you've come along, she wants to know how I am, how I'm feeling.

Katie: I know. It's awful.

Bill: I mean, wh-wh-why--why couldn't you be like a normal wife and hate my family?

Katie: No, there's no fun in that.

Bill: Mm.

Katie: I love Karen, and I've only met Caroline briefly...

Bill: (Sighs)

Katie: But she seems like a lovely, sophisticated girl. And she's living up to her namesake.

Bill: Well, from what I know-- and that isn't much-- she does seem to be living up to the legacy.

Katie: Mm-hmm. (Chuckles) God, it's so crazy that Brooke... (Chuckles) Is asking Caroline Spencer for help.

Bill: All right, all right, wh-what's the deal? What's the deal? Th-there's more going on here than just a job interview.

Katie: Maybe.

Bill: Katie?

Katie: Hmm? Okay, well, Brooke wants her to work on some very specific designs with Rick.

Bill: Why?

Katie: Because if Caroline is working with Rick, then Amber isn't.

Bill: (Inhales deeply) (Sighs)

Amber: You think you can replace me?

Rick: That's not gonna happen, mom. I don't have to explain things to Amber. She knows what I want before I say it.

Amber: Yea, because of our history. I mean, good or bad, no other designer could manage that.

Brooke: I don't want you working here, period.

Amber: (Sighs) Whatever, "Stephanie."

Brooke: Excuse me?

Amber: That's who you're acting like--Stephanie, trying to control your son-- who he hangs out with, bossing him around.

Brooke: I just want him to work with somebody a little more appropriate, that's all.

Amber: Well, Rick wants to work with me, okay? He trusts and believes in me. I mean, why can't you guys just accept that I'm a better person now?

Ridge: Because it's not true. It'll never be true.

Brooke: You are who you are, Amber.

Amber: Trash from Furnace Creek, hmm? Like I said, "Stephanie."

Marcus: I-I'm just saying that there's more to life than work. You need to get yourself a woman, man.

Thomas: I know. (Sighs) I just haven't found the right one yet.

Brooke: Fine, I'm Stephanie, you're me. And bad news-- Caroline is coming to town.

Amber: Who?

Brooke: Our new designer, Caroline Spencer.

Amber: Why does that sound familiar?

Brooke: She has the same name as her aunt, Ridge's first love...

Amber: Oh.

Brooke: Beautiful, sophisticated, classy, intelligent.

Amber: Oh, and I suppose her niece is, too, hmm?

Brooke: Hmm.

Amber: Bring her on! Hire her to design play matchmaker-- I don't care, and Rick won't, either, because Rick and I, we have something. We have our own special unique chemistry. We actually have plans tonight, our own little celebration for the lane.

Brooke: I think Rick's gonna be busy tonight-- tied up in meetings and showing our new lovely designer around.

Amber: Do what you have to do, because there's no one you could bring in who could hold a candle to moi.

(Car door closes)

("Oh, Yeah" playing)

Oh, yeah oh, yeah oh, yeah the moon beautiful the sun more beautiful (Trilling) Oh, yeah oh, yeah oh, yeah

Rick: Caroline Spencer? Rick Forrester.

Caroline: Yes, you are. And you must be Brooke Logan. A pleasure to meet you.

Brooke: The pleasure's all mine.

Caroline: (Laughs)
