Hope: (Breathing heavily)

Steffy: So much for your grand plan to marry Liam today.

Hope: So you tore up the papers. Who cares? He'll just have another set drawn up.

Steffy: And I'll just tear up those, too. I am not giving Liam an annulment, not today, not ever.

Ridge: It's not an unreasonable request. Steffy's asking that you respect your marriage enough to take time getting out it. She deserves that much from you.

Liam: Yeah. Actually, she deserves more than that, but yeah.

Ridge: Well, good. You realize that. They say some things happen for a reason. Maybe the universe is trying to tell you that rushing into a marriage with Hope isn't really the way to go.

Liam: (Scoffs) Great. Now you got the whole universe on your side.

Ridge: I'm just saying if you stop and take five minutes, you might realize that you don't really need to be married to anyone at the moment.

Liam: What am I doing? I can't be here. I gotta go check out what's happening between Hope and Steffy.

Hope: Stalling the inevitable isn't going to change anything.

Steffy: You never know.

Hope: Oh, my God. You cannot strong-arm Liam into staying married to you.

Steffy: No, but it'll take him six months to divorce me. I think my chances are pretty high of keeping him from making a huge mistake-- rushing into a marriage with you.

Rick: Where did Liam go in such a rush?

Ridge: He went over to Taylor’s house.

Brooke: So did you talk Liam into staying with Steffy?

Donna: Is there a question? I thought Liam was committed to Hope.

Ridge: I wasn't trying to talk Liam into or out of marriage with anyone. I just suggested he might take advantage of that 6-month waiting period... (Inhales sharply) Give himself a chance to consider... (Sighs) his next move before jumping into it.

Katie: Well, I think his next move has already been decided. He wants to marry Hope.

Ridge: Not today, apparently.

Rick: Yeah, because of Steffy.

Katie: Steffy doesn't do anything that's not in her best interest. If she thinks she can lure Liam back to her in the next six months, that's exactly what she's gonna do.

Donna: Yeah, well, Hope may have something to say about that.

Hope: Hey, Steffy, Liam is still going to love me six months from now.

Steffy: If you are so sure about that, waiting shouldn't be a problem.

Hope: Oh, you are being so vindictive!

Steffy: No, no, no. That would make it about you. But this is about me. Liam and I, we were very happy together.

Hope: (Scoffs) Mm-hmm.

Steffy: You know what? And--and if he's really committed to you, respecting my marriage shouldn't set you back much.

Hope: Steffy, all the tricks, all the schemes that you have orchestrated to keep Liam and me apart, they haven't worked.

Steffy: Oh, my God.

Hope: And you know what? This isn't going to work, either, so why don't you save us all some grief and stop trying to force Liam to stay in a marriage that he doesn't want anymore? It's beneath you, Steffy, and frankly, it's pathetic.

Liam: What the hell?

Rick: You know, I've only been back for a few months, but mostly what I've seen is Hope getting hurt. I'm just wondering if this marriage is the best outcome for her.

Katie: Every time Hope gets hurt, we find out that Steffy is behind it.

Rick: Yeah, but Liam bears responsibility, too. Steffy didn't drag him into marriage kicking and screaming.

Ridge: Finally, someone acknowledges.

Katie: Steffy took advantage of a misunderstanding between Hope and Liam that could have easily been resolved.

Ridge: Maybe so but Rick’s point, and it's well taken, is Steffy didn't act in a vacuum.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Liam's been there the whole time making his own decisions for his own reasons.

Rick: Yeah, I-I'm just wondering, you know, a-a guy who could be so impulsive with another woman is really the--the best choice for her.

Donna: (Scoffs) Shouldn't that be Hope's decision to make?

Rick: There's no doubt that Hope got the raw deal. She deserves to have what makes her happy. I just want to make sure that Liam’s the right guy.

Katie: He is.

Brooke: You okay?

Ridge: I'm fine. Concerned, but fine.

Brooke: (Sighs) Katie is being hard on Steffy.

Ridge: Yeah, well, she has every right. (Sighs)

Brooke: It can't be easy for you, always coming to Steffy's defense.

Ridge: It comes with the territory, I guess. I just don't want us getting all caught up in this drama between the girls.

Brooke: We won’t. So you know, it's Valentine’s Day, and how about we go out later and celebrate?

Ridge: Maybe better to stay in and celebrate.

Brooke: Ooh. I like the way you're thinking.

Ridge: Logan, you are the greatest Valentine a man could ever want.

Brooke: I'm a lucky girl.  (Sighs) I-I have to go over to Taylor’s and check on Hope...

Ridge: What?

Brooke: For right now. But I'm gonna call you, let you know what's going on.

Ridge: Okay.

Liam: Somebody care to explain?

Steffy: Yeah. Hope came after me.

Liam: Yeah, sure she did.

Hope: (Laughs)

Steffy: I'm serious. Ask her.

Liam: Is she joking?

Hope: I'd had it. She hijacked our wedding.

Steffy: (Sighs)

Liam: And so you attacked her with chocolate?

Hope: (Sighs) Yeah, I did. I stormed over here like a raging maniac and went after Steffy.

Liam: Huh. Weird. A little out of character.

Steffy: Ha. Yeah. Surprised the hell out of me, actually.

Hope: Well, I lost it. Okay, I thought that we were getting married, Liam. I thought the waiting was finally over for us. And then she wouldn't sign the annulment papers, and my head just exploded.

Steffy: Yeah.

Hope: And then I walked in here, and she was so smug, so pleased with herself, so-- God, I can't believe you've driven me to this.

Steffy: Oh! Oh, okay. You attacked me...

Hope: Yeah.

Steffy: And yet it's-- it's my fault? Okay.

Hope: No. No. It's not. It's mine. It's mine.

Steffy: Oh, wait. Am I--am I hearing an apology?

Hope: Don't push it.

Liam: Okay. Well, do--do we have the urge for violence out of our system?

Steffy: (Sighs)

Liam: 'Cause if we do, I have a few things to say. Steffy...

Steffy: Hmm?

Liam: Marrying Hope today was my choice. I was not coerced. I was not talked into it. This was something I wanted. It's something I still want.

Hope: Is any of that getting through to you on any level at all? Liam wants to marry me, okay? Why can't you just let him go?

Steffy: I am letting him go once the divorce is final.

Hope: Oh, God.

Liam: And Hope, that's what you need to understand. Steffy doesn't want to sign the annulment papers. She has all the power in this situation. She gets to do that. Oh, well. We wait six months.

Hope: Liam, it is not okay for her to hold us hostage.

Steffy: Okay, you know what? I-I don't--I don't think you're ready to just rush into another marriage. Maybe you feel guilty, compelled to make up for lost time with Hope.

Liam: That is not your call to make. And by the way, so you don't feel blindsided again...

Steffy: Hmm?

Liam: I already had divorce papers drawn up, and they're on their way over here for both of us to sign.

Steffy: Well, if that's really what you want.

Liam: See, that is so reasonable. Isn't that reasonable, Hope? I think that's really reasonable. And who knows, you know? Maybe within six month's time when Steffy realizes I mean to make you my wife, she'll reconsider the annulment.

Hope: Liam, you can't possibly believe that.

Katie: I owe you an apology.

Ridge: For dissing my daughter every chance you get?

Katie: I'm sure it seems that way. And I'm sure you understand why.

Ridge: Sure.

Katie: History aside, I really hate what she's doing to Hope. And you're supposed to care about her, too.

Ridge: You don't think it's tearing me apart seeing Hope and Steffy pitted against each other?

Katie: I mean, I understand why you're siding with Steffy. She's your blood.

Ridge: I would never minimize what Liam feels for Hope. But his marriage to Steffy was very real. Come on, Katie. You're Hope's aunt. Do you really want her married to a guy who can only give half his heart?

Hope: Liam, think about everything that Steffy has pulled. Okay, she is going to use these six months to try and seduce you into staying with her. She's going to undermine me, and she's going to make you feel like a fool and a loser for respecting my values.

Liam: Hope, listen.

Hope: (Groans)

Liam: Listen to me. I am not going to let that happen.

Hope: Well, I'd rather not take the chance.

Steffy: You don't really have a choice. I'm not agreeing to an annulment.

Liam: (Sighs) You know, she's right. It wasn't right of us to try and force her to sign papers basically saying that she's ashamed of her marriage. She's not.

Steffy: Yeah, not even close.

Hope: You are on borrowed time, Steffy. Liam was never yours to begin with.

Steffy: Did you even ask Liam how he felt about rushing into another marriage? Or did you just call your press conference?

Liam: I'm sorry. Steffy, have you been listening? Marrying Hope was a choice. It was a choice that I made.

Steffy: Okay, fine. Six months from now, if we really are divorced, you still want to be with Hope, I'll wish you well, I'll say good-bye.

Hope: Oh, my God. Steffy, you are just loving this, aren't you, being the one in control, able to dictate when he and I can start our life together?

Brooke: Oh, my God. What is going on here? You two have been fighting?

Steffy: Oh, it was just chocolate. It's nothing serious.

Brooke: Honey, are you okay?

Hope: I'm fine.

Steffy: It--she gave as good as she got. Believe it or not, this is Hope. She started it.

Brooke: Oh, I find that really hard to believe.

Hope: No, I did. Steffy wouldn't sign the papers, and I lost it.

Liam: But we're calm now, and we're working it out, right?

Hope: (Scoffs) We have to wait six months to get married.

Brooke: Until the divorce is final.

Steffy: Don't blame me. It's the law.

Brooke: You are twisting it to your advantage.

Steffy: I think I'm being very reasonable.

Hope: (Scoffs)

Steffy: It's not like I'm fighting Liam to end our marriage. I just won't annul it.

Hope: (Groans) Oh, my God. I have to get out of here. I have to leave. Are you coming?

Liam: I gotta wait for the papers.

Hope: (Sighs) Okay. Call me later?

Liam: Mm-hmm.

Hope: Some Valentine's Day.

Steffy: At least we had chocolate.

Hope: Uh-huh.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Steffy: No? All right.

Liam: (Sighs)

Steffy: It's delicious. You want a taste?

Liam: (Scoffs)

Hope: Steffy wouldn't sign.

Rick: I heard.

Hope: You know, when I woke up this morning, it was my wedding day.

Brooke: Six months will go by before you know it. You'll see.

Hope: (Sighs) I just--I hate that Steffy has this power over us. I can't stand it.

Rick: You, uh, you really love the guy, don't you?

Hope: So much, it scares me sometimes. (Groans) I.. I kind of can’t believe I went after Steffy like that, but you know what, I don’t care.  She deserved it, thanks to her, my marriage didn’t happen today. 

Brooke:  Honey it’s understandable that you would snap, look at everything that you’ve been through.

Hope: Yeah, but you know what? Liam and I are stronger than ever, and that's what I have to hold on to. I have faith in us, faith that we'll get married, and that there's nothing Steffy can do to stop that.

Brooke: Hear, hear! (Chuckles)

Hope: (Chuckles) Oh, okay, I'm going to get out of this dress and take a shower.

Brooke: I'm going to go heat up some food.

Hope: None for me. I'm okay.

Brooke: Don't you argue with your mother, Missy.

Hope: Okay.

Brooke:  I love you.

Hope: I love you, too. (Chuckles)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Rick: Chocolate?

Brooke: Oh ... don't ask. This hasn't been her best day.

Rick: She seems to be hanging in there.

Brooke: Yeah, she's strong and determined. Steffy won't be able to do anything in six months.

Rick: Are you sure about that? Liam still has feelings for her.

Brooke: There's a connection, a bond, but nothing compared to the love that Liam has for Hope. And they have overcome so many obstacles that Steffy has put in their way, believe me. But now she's trying this stalling tactic.

Rick: I don't know. Maybe it will work. A lot can happen in six months.

(Liam sits staring at a picture of him and Steffy)

(Doorbell rings)

Steffy: I'll get it.

Man: Stephanie Spencer?

Steffy: Ah, yes.

Man: This is for you.

Steffy: Thank you.

Man: I just need you to sign here.

Steffy: Oh, okay.

Man: Thanks.

Steffy: Thank you. (Opens the envelope and reads the petition for dissolution of marriage from Liam) Divorce papers. Are you really doing this?

Liam: (Nods)

Steffy: We had some good times.

Liam: Yeah, I was looking at all the photos, remembering the good times.

Steffy: Ah-ha! Yeah, there's a lot of them.

Liam: Yeah.

Steffy: Mh-mmh. You laughed. We played and made love. We were just starting out.

Liam: It was a hell of a ride.

Steffy: Yeah. Yeah, I was insecure, and I made mistakes, but umm-- that person is in the past.

Liam: Good. Just, don't lose the rest of who you are.

Steffy: Ah, yeah! That's a really nice thing to say to a woman who you're divorcing.

Liam: Ok, so -- sign this. You agree to a no-fault divorce finalized in six months.

Steffy: Yep. Um-- no annulment. Thank you.

Liam: Yeah, sure. Now, in terms of a settlement --

Steffy: I don't want a settlement. I want you. (Crying) Look I just think that um-- I just think that we need some time, you know? I want what's best for us, and Hope -- she's just rushing you. (Sighs) I think maybe, um-- maybe we should just take some time (Sniffles) to figure out what we really want (Sobs) 'cause I love you. (Voice breaking) And I always will.

Liam: (Holds Steffy's hand)

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Liam: (Picks up the divorce papers, signs them, then passes them over to Steffy)

Steffy: (Sighs) (Clears throat) (Signs papers)

Liam: (Puts his arm around Steffy then pulls her toward him into a hug)
