Steffy: I wish you didn't have to go through this.

Liam: Thank you.

Steffy: For what?

Liam: That you're supportive, understanding.

Steffy: Well, a pain in my ass sometimes...

Liam: (Laughs)

Steffy: But I'll always support you. I only want you to be happy, whether it's with me or Hope. But you know what I'm wishing for.

(Car approaches) (Doors unlock)

Hope: What are you doing here?

Brooke: Steffy's inside?

Hope: Yeah. Yeah, with Liam. How did you know that?

Brooke: Taylor told me.

Hope: Oh. Uh, well, Liam asked to see both of us, but I kind of got the feeling that he wanted a moment alone with Steffy, uh, so I stepped out.

Brooke: Do you think he's breaking up with her?

Hope: I don't know, Mom.

Brooke: What else could they possibly be talking about?

Hope: How best to let me down. I... (Sighs) I know that Liam loves me. (Sighs) But I also know that he loves his wife.

Ridge: Hey, Doc.

Taylor: There--oh, Ridge, I've--I've been sitting here waiting for you.

Ridge: Yeah? What's going on?

Taylor: Uh, well, Steffy got a call from Liam.

Ridge: Good. Maybe I finally got through to him.

Taylor: I hope so.

Ridge: Where are they?

Taylor: Well, they're over at his place talking, and, uh, I'm a little concerned, though, because he also called Hope and asked her to meet him there, too.

Ridge: The three of them are there?

Taylor: I can only assume it's because he's trying to find closure.

Ridge: Yeah. (Sighs) Yeah, that's gotta be it.

Taylor: Yeah, but it doesn't mean that he's necessarily going to stay in his marriage to Steffy.

Ridge: Doc, Steffy’s gonna have an incredible life ahead of her whether it's with Liam or not.

Taylor: I know. Yeah.

Ridge: The same is actually true of Hope. Only she and Brooke are kind of caught up in the whole romantic fantasy of the two of them, and I think it's gonna be hard for Hope to get over this.

Hope: I want him back. It's hard to think of a life without him.

Brooke: Honey, you don't know what he's going to decide.

Hope: Well, I have to prepare to go on regardless of whom he chooses. (Sighs) I don't know. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after everything that happened in Cabo, I just really, really thought that we'd get back together. And then... and then when he kissed me on the beach...I really thought that our time had finally come. But I can't think about that right now. I can’t. Liam is in there right now with his wife, and... I can't fool myself. This could be the end for Liam and me. (Sighs)

Liam: What you've been through since the accident, Steffy--

Steffy: No. No, no, no. No, no. We don't need to talk about that.

Liam: I know, but it still makes me sick to my stomach.

Steffy: Liam, it was your father's doing, not you.

Liam: Well, I'm still responsible for the accident itself.

Steffy: No, you-- you didn't know. I just--look at me. Look. I-I just want to put this all behind us. I want to be your wife, the wife that you deserve, the woman who adores you.

Taylor: I guess we'll just have to let the chips fall where they may, just like they did with us. It's out of our hands.

Ridge: Can't help thinking, though.

Taylor: About what?

Ridge: About the part that I might have played in all this.

Taylor: Ridge, don't even go there. There isn't a parent on the face of this earth that doesn't wish they could have done a few things a lot differently. Look, I-I know we can't protect Steffy from everything. We can't protect her from every disappointment that she faces in life. And even if we did, that would hurt her. It wouldn't help her grow. I just wish that is a lesson that Brooke could learn.

Ridge: Do you think that Brooke is overly protective of Hope?

Taylor: It's destructive, what she's doing-- encouraging her daughter to go after a married man? And if Hope succeeds, guess who's gonna pay the price? Steffy.

Hope: I have so many regrets-- the way I overreacted, walking out, not talking to him, breaking off the engagement.

Brooke: You realize that now, and so does Liam.

Hope: (Sighs) Yeah, but in the meantime, he made a life with Steffy.

Brooke: They tried. It didn't work out so well. He can't stop thinking about you.

Hope: Well, he has to stop. And I have to stop thinking about him if he chooses Steffy. (Sighs)

Brooke: I probably shouldn't say this, but I don't think that is going to happen.

Hope: No, you probably shouldn't say that.

Liam: I'm kind of in the middle of something right now, Brice. Can--can it not wait until I get there? No, I--no, I don't want you going to my dad with this. Because I-I-I would just-- I would rather you didn't, all right? I'm gonna be there for-- thank you. Thank you. Bye.

Steffy: Problems?

Liam: No. Nothing that can't wait.

Steffy: Well, maybe your dad can help.

Liam: I am not dealing with my dad, via work or anything else.

Steffy: Don't give up on someone who would do just about anything for your forgiveness.

Liam: Why are you so supportive of him? What he did to you was cruel, Steffy.

Steffy: Yeah, what he did-- he made me think that I was gonna die.

Liam: (Scoffs) Yeah.

Steffy: Yeah, it's wrong. But you know what, Liam? It changed me. It made me realize that I had so much to live for. Look, you have forgiven me so many times. And then make-- I make another mistake, and you forgive me again. You deserve so much more than what I've given to you.

Liam: Okay, look, you don't have to worry about that. I mean, we're both new at this marriage thing.

Steffy: Yeah.

Liam: We were bound to have problems. That is not just your fault.

Steffy: So you don’t regret marrying me?

Liam: I don't regret anything.

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Liam: I learned from this, too, you know? But we do need to put this behind us, because it's time for us both to move on.

Steffy: I couldn't love you more than I do at this moment, so please don't leave me.

Taylor: So if Liam and Steffy work things out, then how do you plan on handling things with Hope?

Ridge: Be there for her.

Taylor: That's good. She'll need that. She loves and she respects you. You're the only father she's had.

Ridge: Hope's gonna be fine. I will make sure of that. But Steffy?

Taylor: Well, Steffy will be fine. We’ll make sure of that.

Hope: You know, they've been talking for a while. Maybe we should go home, and he can just call me when he's ready.

Brooke: Do you really want to do that?

Hope: No, I don’t. I want this to be resolved today, one way or the other.

Brooke: You're being so strong.

Hope: Not really. I'm dying inside just a little bit. The past few months have been hell, Mom. And if I lose him now after being so close, I just--I'll-- I'll have to move on. I will have to, because I'll have-- I'll have no choice.

Brooke: Okay. Okay, let's not anticipate the worst.

Hope: Mom, I have to be prepared for that if he chooses Steffy. You went through this with Ridge. I mean, yeah--yeah, he--he chose you, but what if he hadn't? What would you have done?

Brooke: I would have leaned on my very strong daughter.

Hope: And I would have been there for you. And, Mom, if this doesn't work out, I'm going to seriously need you. I just love him so much. (Sighs) Okay, look, um, I don't want you to feel like you have to stay. All right? You--you can-- you can go home.

Brooke: No, I... (Sighs) I don't want to leave you.

Hope: It's okay. (Sighs) I can do this on my own. I'll call you, okay?

Brooke: Okay.

Hope: Okay. (Sighs)

Brooke: Honey. (Sighs)

Hope: I love you.

Brooke: I love you. (Sighs)

Liam: I know you love me. I love you, too. And despite everything, you've been a good wife.

Steffy: Well, it's only gonna get better. We can get through this-- challenged, tested survivors.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Liam: My dad was right about you, you know? Intelligent, rebellious, crazy funny.

Steffy: Well, crazy, anyway. (Laughs)

Liam: But... as much as I love you-- and I do...

Steffy: Mm-hmm.

Liam: My life was on a path before we got married, Steffy, and Hope and I had our problems, but we would have overcome them, had it not been for a lot of manipulating and deception. And my dad was responsible for that, but so were you. And I have to go back to where I was before this started... with Hope.

Steffy: (Gasping) (Inhales deeply) (Sighs) (Cries) (Sniffles) It was cab, wasn't it?

Liam: It was a lot of things, but yeah and what happened in Cabo...

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Liam: Could have been a tragedy.

Steffy: (Sighs) (Inhales shakily)

Liam: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. And knowing what I know now, Steffy, I’ve to go back to Hope, because I have to see where it would have led.

Steffy: (Sniffles) (Sighs)

Liam: But...

Steffy: (Sniffling)

Liam: I will always love you.

Steffy: (Sniffles) (Sniffles) (Sighs) (Sighs) I only want the best for you. (Sniffles) (Sighs) But just so you know... I will never stop loving you.

(Door opens)

Brooke: (Sighs)

(Door closes)

Ridge: I've been talking to Taylor.

Brooke: Then you know.

Ridge: Where have you been?

Brooke: With Hope.

Ridge: I thought she was at Liam’s.

Brooke: Yes, but Liam was inside talking to Steffy.

Ridge: So Liam decided to stay in the marriage?

Brooke: I don't know.

Ridge: Where's Hope?

Brooke: She's still there. She asked me to leave. She thought that she should deal with this on her own.

Ridge: (Exhales deeply) Well, one of our daughters is going to be... ecstatic tonight.

Brooke: And one will be devastated.

(Door opens)

Steffy: He loves me. But he's going back to Hope.

Taylor: Oh, Baby. My goodness.

Hope: (Sighs) (Sighs) So... is this good-bye? (Sighs) (Sighs) Oh, Liam. (Cries) (Laughs) (Laughs)
