Hope: Liam, is this really happening?

(Siren wails)

Liam: Yes.

Hope: (Laughs)

Brooke: Don't do this, Liam. It's not fair. You're married. Especially with Steffy's condition.

Liam: Steffy will be fine. Brooke, can I... have a moment with Hope... alone, please?

Hope: Mom, please.

Brooke: I'll be in Ridge's office.

Liam: How did this take me so long?

Steffy: My husband just walked out on me. He thinks I lied to him again.

Katie: You did.

Steffy: No. No, the only one who's been lying is him. Isn't that right? As far as I knew, I had a blood clot. I thought I was going to die. We were all afraid, me, Liam, my family, you. Oh, only you weren't worried, because there was no blood clot! You orchestrated the whole thing!

Bill: Go find Liam, Steffy.

Steffy: You kn--you know, I didn't feel in danger. But I never thought to question it, because two doctors told me that I could stoke out at any moment. So what'd you do, huh? What'd you do? Did you--did you pay 'em off? You let me think that I had some ticking time bomb in my head. Do you know what that does to a person? Do you know? It's sick. Wh--do you know what you did to my marriage? Could you answer me that? Answer me!

Katie: So you have no responsibility in this?

Steffy: I am the victim. My family, Liam, we are all victims of Bill's lie. Why? Why did you do it?

Bill: Because I'd do anything to protect the people I love, my family. And that includes you. You're my daughter-in-law, and I was trying to keep it that way.

Katie: She knew nothing about this?

Steffy: I had no idea.

Katie: It was all you?

Bill: I saw a problem, and I was trying to fix it. And instead of going off on me, you should be thanking me.

Steffy: Thanking you?

Bill: I was protecting your marriage.

Steffy: You should have stayed out of it. Get out of here.

Bill: Liam was going to leave you in Cabo.

Steffy: How do you even know that?

Bill: I know it for a fact. It was over for you, Steffy. And if I hadn't of interceded, Liam would have walked into your hospital room and told you he was leaving you for Hope.

Hope: (Sighs) Liam, what is happening?

Liam: Us is happening. We've been manipulated so many times. And Aspen was one thing, you know, you having to watch Steffy and me. And I should have known that Steffy and my dad were just gonna keep on conspiring and keep on conspiring. But what matters is that I'm here now. I'm here.

Hope: But why? Why are you here, Liam? What is going on?

Liam: How could I have married Steffy... when you were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with? And then everything just... fell apart.

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: That's what I thought. I was--I was hurting. I was torn up inside. And I really convinced myself that you didn't care. (Chuckles) My father and my wife just workin' behind the scenes. And I didn't see that. I didn't see that. I saw... a supportive dad just trying to help me out.

Hope: Making sure it was Steffy in your life and not me.

Liam: No, I trusted him. And I really believed that he wanted what was best for me. And he didn't care. He just wanted to control me and control my life. It was like he-- it was like he chose Steffy for me. But she's not you.  I admire you so much, and it's not just because I'm in love with you. It's--it's what you stand for. It's how you live. Everything about you is beautiful to me, and I can't let you go.

Hope: (Laughs)

Liam: And I will never let you go again.

Bill: I really did think I was doing what was best for you and Liam. I had good intentions, Steffy.

Steffy: Yeah, a road to hell.

Bill: In hindsight, I-I realize that what I did was problematic.

Katie: You're just saying that because it blew up in your face.

Bill: I'm saying that because you're both looking at me like I'm despicable.

Steffy: Well, you took it too far, Bill.

Bill: (Sighs) Maybe I did. But I am where I am today because I push the limit lines. I make things happen where other people can't. I make impossible business deals possible...

Steffy: What? No.

Bill: And I made a deal here.

Steffy: This is my life, Bill, not some corporate takeover.

Bill: I don't always think about the fact that I am, um, dealing with human beings, with family. It was a foreign concept to me until not that long ago, and I'm still trying to work my way through exactly what that means. But what I'm clear about is my loyalty to all of you. You might question my tactics, but don't ever question that. And I expect the same in return. We're Spencers. We stick together.

Steffy: I am all for family loyalty, but you have taken it too far. I promised my husband that I would never lie to him again. And now he thinks I'm in on this. And now he's gone running back to Hope. So you know what 'm gonna do? I'm gonna find him and I'm gonna get through to him.

Bill: That's exactly what you should do, but Steffy, this has to stay between us. No one can know there was never a blood clot.

Katie: You're worried she's gonna go to the press. You should be.

Steffy: Huh. Luckily for you, Bill, I don't give a damn about you. You are the least of my worries. But I will be telling my family that I am fine. They deserve to know their other daughter's not gonna die anytime soon. No, I'm--I'm gonna find Liam, and I'm going to make him understand that this was all his father's doing. Oh, I pray-I pray that I will be able to save my marriage.

Katie: So this was all your doing? Bill Spencer, puppet master. How are you ever gonna live with yourself?

Katie: You made Steffy believe that she had a blood clot in her brain, that she was gonna die. I mean, my God, Bill.

Bill: I did what I did to save their marriage. Now I know you don't agree with it, but I believe that Steffy is good for my son.

Katie: Yeah, you just keep telling yourself that.

Bill: I was protecting my family.

Katie: It was stupid and dangerous and maybe even illegal.

Bill: Katie... I know you're upset...

Katie: (Sighs)

Bill: And deservedly so, but I don't want this to tear our marriage apart. I love you, and I know you love me. And you have to trust me on this. We have to keep it between us, because the kind of scandal this would generate could bring down Spencer Publications.

Katie: (Sighs)

Hope: What are you doing here?

Brooke: Liam, I don't think this is a good...

Liam: I'm through, Hope. I'm freeing myself from the lies, and I'm looking in my future, and that's you. I love you.

Hope: Oh, Liam.

(Door opens)

Brooke: Steffy.

Steffy: Have you seen Liam?

Brooke: Why would he be here? Shouldn't you be in bed?

Steffy: No, I'm fine. I need to find him. Have you seen him?

Brooke: Uh, yes, as a matter of fact, I have. And I got the impression that your marriage is over.

Steffy: Did he say why?

Brooke: No. He didn't go into detail. But I'm guessing he finally sees you as the person that you really are.

(Siren wails)

Liam: You know, my entire relationship with Steffy has been nothing but a series of manipulations. And I keep on telling myself that this one, this one is gonna be the last one. (Chuckles)

Hope: Liam, I tried to tell you that.

Liam: I know, you did. You did. And I-I wouldn't listen. I just--I didn't want to believe that my father and my wife could be so... devious. And, uh, you had already kind of turned away from me by that point, and I somehow ended up a married man. And of course, you respected that because... (Chuckles) that's the kind of person that you are. And then I tried to honor my own commitments. I mean, I took vows. I tried to take that seriously.

Hope: Of course you did, Liam, because that's the kind of person that you are. And I love you so much for that. I respected your choice as much as it hurt, but, Liam, God, I was dying inside.

Liam: I don't know if, um, if you can forgive me, and maybe I don't deserve it at this point, but it's like a fog has been lifted. (Chuckles) I mean, over and over again, I'd tell her, "don't lie to me anymore," and she promises never again, and then it just keeps on happening, and... you know, I sho-- I should have known better right after she lied to my face about Aspen. But it just--it kept on getting worse after that. I mean, she kept disappearing in Cabo and meeting with her brother and trying to keep you a secret from me.

Hope: Yeah.

Liam: And of course, Thomas is feeding you margarita after margarita after margarita. And I'm sure that was her idea. And then... and then the finale, you know... (Chuckles) the--the big ATV accident and the head injury. That was--that was a good-- that was a good one. Our entire marriage, from the moment we got married, before that even, it's just been a series of schemes. But that's over now. And I refuse to live my life that way one more day.

Hope: (Sighs)

Steffy: You know what? I'm not--I'm not discussing this with you.

Brooke: Tell me, Steffy, what did you do this time?

Steffy: Why do you always assume that I've done something?

Brooke: Force of habit.

Steffy: Well, you're way off base, because I have done nothing wrong.

Brooke: Didn't sound like it from the way Liam was talking.

Steffy: Okay, I-I need to speak with my husband. I know he's here with Hope.

Brooke: Even if he were, I wouldn't tell you where they are.

Steffy: Fine. I'll find him myself.

Katie: What happens when Steffy finds Liam and she convinces him that this is all your doing?

Bill: I hope that in time he can forgive me, but I don't--I don't care about that right now. Right now you're the only thing that's important to me.

Katie: I just can't understand how you could do something like this.

Bill: I didn't think it through, Katie.

Katie: What is it with you and Steffy, huh?

Bill: (Sighs)

Katie: You're willing to risk everything for her, to keep her around. I mean, is it just some kind of ego thing? (Stammers) And--and--and don't tell me that it's all about your son, because I'm not buying it. I-I don't want to live like this, Bill. I'm not dealing with this. (Sighs)

Bill: Katie, I screwed up.

Katie: You locked me in a tower to shut me up. I mean, who does that?

Bill: I just needed you to cool down.

Katie: I don't want to live with these lies. I want a man who can be honest with me. I just--I need some time to--to think things through. I--I'll call you when I'm ready to talk. Until then, I'll be at my sister's.

Bill: (Sighs)

Hope: Liam, I knew this day would come. I knew it. Look--oh, but-- but what about Steffy? Oh, my God, she's got this blood clot. And--and you can't leave her. She could die, Liam...

Liam: Hope. Hope.

Hope:  And you can't live with yourself if that happened.

Liam: There is no blood clot.

Hope: What?

Liam: Yeah. Yeah, they made it up. She and my dad just made it up, you know, to keep me with her, keep me by her side, the ever-doting, ever-caring husband.

Hope: Oh, my God.

Liam: Well, somebody has a blood clot somewhere, just not Steffy.

Hope: (Gasps)

Liam: My dad had the MRIs switched.

Hope: So it really is over.

Liam: Oh, the fact that she could do something that horrible, yeah. Oh, yeah, it's over.

Hope: (Gasps) Oh, my God! (Laughs)

Liam: (Laughs) I know.

Hope: Yes. (Laughs)

Steffy: Liam. Liam, are you up he-- I need to talk to you.

Liam: Steffy, there is nothing left to say.

Steffy: No, no, I- I didn't lie to you, Liam. I wouldn't do something like this to you.

Liam: What are you talking about? All you ever do is lie to me. You and my father, you lie.

Steffy: No, I-I- I am a victim here. I thought I was gonna die. So did you. But this--this was all your dad. Your father deceived us. Liam, come on, you gotta believe me. Liam.
