Brooke: So... Thomas knew that Steffy and Liam were there?

Hope: Yeah. He ran into her when we first got there.

Brooke: But he never told you?

Hope: Mnh-mnh. But--but I can't blame him. I mean, he took me to Cabo so I could forget about Liam.

Brooke: But eventually, you saw him.

Hope: Yes. It was actually really romantic. I will never forget it.

Katie: Come on in.

Taylor: So... how is the patient?

Katie: She's in the bedroom.

Taylor: Oh.

Ridge: I made a doctor's appointment for Steffy.

Bill: Cancel it. There's no need.

Ridge: Well, nothing against the doctors in Mexico-- they were great-- but I do want a second opinion.

Bill: Well, so do I. And she's getting one. The doctor's in examining Steffy right now.

Liam: So how does she look, Doc?

Dr. Montgomery: Well, everything seems to be normal.

Liam: Great. Great. How's your headache?

Steffy: Still there, but it's not--it's not terrible.

Dr. Montgomery: If the headache starts to get worse, I need to know right away.

Taylor: Hey, may we come in?

Dr. Montgomery: Yeah, we're all finished here.

Taylor: Hey.

Steffy: Hey.

Taylor: How you feeling?

Steffy: Ah... is this the question of the day? Really?

Ridge: Expect to be asked that a lot. You're supposed to be monitored closely, Sweetheart.

Steffy: I'm--I'm fine.

Bill: No, Steffy, you're not fine. You have a serious condition. Ramon, tell her.

Brooke: Okay... (Sighs) Now wait a minute. I didn't get the full story.

Hope: Thanks.

Brooke: So Liam was chasing you on an ATV?

Hope: Yes. (Sighs) Apparently, Thomas knew that Liam had seen us on the beach, and that's when he suggested that we rent ATVs, go riding. I had no idea that Liam had seen us and--and that that's why Thomas wanted to get the ATVs just to get me away from him. So... (Sighs) We started riding. We were having a lot of fun. And then, you know, he started going faster and faster, and I actually started to feel a little sick because we had been drinking that day. I thought I heard something.

[Hope remembering]

Liam: Hope!

Hope: I thought I heard Liam's voice.

Liam: Hope!

Hope: And so I glanced back behind me, and, Mom, I will never forget what I saw. I could not believe it. Liam was behind us on his own ATV. And--and--and that's why Thomas was going so fast, because he wanted to get away from him.

Brooke: (Gasps) It's a miracle all of you weren't injured.

Hope: I know. I know. It--it was kind of scary.

Brooke: And I'm disappointed in Thomas. I can't believe he would do that, drinking and driving.

Hope: N-no. Well, Thomas was not drunk.

Brooke: Still, you were on the back of an ATV. And I don't think you were in any condition to be there.

Hope: I did some crazy things in Cabo, some things I probably shouldn't have, but some that I will never forget.

Taylor: Honey, your father-in-law is telling you the truth here. This isn't something to take lightly.

Dr. Montgomery: Yeah, Steffy. It's imperative that you rest and avoid stress of any kind.

Bill: And that's your job, Liam.

Liam: Right.

Ridge: I still want to repeat these tests, though.

Steffy: Dad, no, no, no. Not another M.R.I.

Bill: Do you think that would be necessary, Ramón?

Dr. Montgomery: No, certainly not now. It's only been a couple of days.

Bill: All Steffy needs is a huge dose of TLC.

Ridge: Which we will all provide, and especially her husband.

Katie: What I don't understand is why did the doctor in Mexico misread Steffy's CAT scan?

Bill: He didn't misread the CAT scan.

Katie: Well, didn't he initially say that all the test results were normal?

Bill: That was before he did the M.R.I.

Katie: So the blood clot showed up on the M.R.I., but not the CAT scan. Is--is that possible, Taylor?

Taylor: Yeah. Well, an M.R.I. is much more definitive than a CAT scan.

Bill: Ramon, I'll walk you out.

Dr. Montgomery: You rest, Steffy.

Ridge: Thank you, Doctor.

Taylor: (Whispers) You just gotta take it easy.

Bill: Well done, Ramón.

Dr. Montgomery: I'm always at your service, Bill.

Bill: I appreciate your loyalty.

Dr. Montgomery: One question.

Bill: Yeah?

Dr. Montgomery: Whose M.R.I is that?

Bill: It ain't Steffy's, and that's all that matters. I need my son to be attentive to his wife until he gets over his ex-fiancée. That M.R.I. is my insurance policy. I'll see you soon.

Dr. Montgomery: Yeah.

Ridge: Got you covered. We've already taken care of it.

Steffy: Well, who's doing my job, Dad?

Bill: Your only job right now is to rest and be pampered. Think you can handle that?

Steffy: Mmm... being spoiled to death by my husband? Yeah, I think I could get use to that.

Liam: (Chuckles)

Steffy: But I-I have to tell you, like, I don't feel very sick. Yeah, I have a headache, but all this talk about stress and a blood clot, I don't--

Bill: Listen, Steffy, you-- you can't take this lightly. You saw the M.R.I. this is serious. The only thing I want you to focus on right now is being happy and at peace, with the help of your loving husband

Ridge: Amen to that.

Taylor: Well, I think we should all get out of here and let her get a little rest.

Bill: Son, why don't you stay with your wife?

Liam: Yeah.

Taylor: Now I don't want you to worry about one thing, not one single thing, okay?

Steffy: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Taylor: And you make sure of that. We'll see you later.

Steffy: Bye.

Bill: (Sighs)

Liam: (Sighs)

Steffy: Thank you. And don't ask for what. I think you know.

Liam: Yeah, let's just get you well, huh?

Steffy: Okay.

Brooke: You and Liam had a private moment in Cabo?

Hope: Well, I wouldn't exactly call it private.

Brooke: But something happened?

Hope: Yeah, something happened, something huge.

Brooke: Liam kissed you? Did Thomas see it?

Hope: (Chuckles) Mom, I didn't care who saw us. Mom, Liam said that he loved me, that he'd never stopped loving me. I thought--I thought that this was it. I thought that Liam and I were finally going to be together. But then Steffy showed up on--on her ATV and--and crashed, and then everything changed.

Brooke: So what happened at the hospital?

Hope: (Sighs) Well, Steffy was unconscious, but when she came to, y-you know, we--we thought everything was gonna be fine, she was gonna be okay. (Sighs) And Liam and I talked, and he told me that he was going to make things right. Mom, he was gonna end his marriage. He--he didn't say it to me in those exact words, but I knew what he meant. And then the doctor came in and told us about Steffy's blood clot and that it would be really dangerous if she were stressed out or if she was upset.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Hope: And in that moment, any chance that Liam and I had was gone. He has to be with Steffy.

Hope: (Sighs)

Liam: She's resting.

Taylor: And how are you feeling about everything, Liam?

Liam: Me? Um... (Scoffs) I'm exhausted. Look, about what happened in Cabo--

Bill: Forget about that, Liam.

Ridge: You only have one concern right now, the same one we all have.

Liam: Yeah, I know. I don't need anyone to tell me that.

Bill: Well, you're--you're going to hear it, because Steffy's life depends on it.

Liam: Dad, I know. I got it. She can't be upset. I got it. I got it.

Ridge: But she will be if she has any feeling that you're emotionally attached to Hope.

Taylor: Our daughter's life is literally in your hands, Liam.

Liam: I will not upset her. I don't know what else to tell you guys.

Bill: All right, um... could I have a moment alone with my son?

Bill: Listen--listen to me. It wasn't long ago that Katie and I were in a very bad place. I was prepared to leave her, to walk away from my marriage. You were adamant...

Liam: (Sighs)

Bill: That I honor my commitment, my vows for better or worse, Liam. It was good advice. And now I'm giving the same to you. Regardless of the circumstances you're wrestling with right now, Steffy is your wife, and you know she's special. She's one in a million. You need to love her. You need to care for her.

Liam: I hear you. I do.

Steffy: Katie, wh--

Katie: Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.

Steffy: What are you doing?

Katie: Looking for answers.

Bill: I can't imagine what Ridge and Taylor are dealing with here. The possibility of losing another daughter.

Liam: It's intense.

Bill: Look, Liam, I know I sound like a broken record--

Liam: Dad... you made your point.

Bill: But are you getting it?

Liam: Dad, I-I promise you, I'm gonna take care of Steffy. You can count on that. But you gotta drop this. It's gettin' on my nerves.

Bill: (Sighs)

Steffy: I don't need this. I shouldn't have to tell you that.

Katie: Need what?

Steffy: Whatever you're gonna throw at me.

Katie: (Sighs) I'm not looking to upset you. I just can't help wondering...

Steffy: What?

Katie: The extremes you'd go to keep those two apart.

Steffy: Let me guess. You are talking about Hope and Liam.

Katie: Well, you did promise to not be dishonest after what happened in Aspen.

Steffy: I wasn't dishonest.

Katie; I--do you really want to mince words?

Steffy: Oh, my God.

Katie: I mean, you knew that Hope was at that resort, and you didn't tell Liam about it. And worse yet, you did somersaults to make sure he didn't find out.

Steffy: Okay, you know what? Katie, you are starting to upset me. You know what the doctor said about this.

Katie: Well, I can understand why you'd be upset.

Steffy: Oh, my God.

Katie: Feeling insecure about your marriage is very upsetting, and that's not gonna go away.

Steffy: My husband is not going to leave me, Katie.

Katie: He loves Hope. He would be with her right now if it weren't for your interference. I mean, how long are you gonna keep this up?

Steffy: Liam loves me, okay? I didn’t force him into marriage.

Katie: Maybe not. But I think he knows he made a mistake, and he wants out. And he's never gonna tell you that in your current condition. You're a strong woman, Steffy. Why are you clinging to a man who doesn't love you?

Steffy: Don't you dare say he doesn't love me! I know he loves me. You know nothing, Katie!

Bill: What--what's going on? What is going on?

Steffy: Nothing!

Liam: Hey, hey.

Bill: Katie, what the hell are you doing? She's got a clot on her brain. If you get her upset or emotional, it could kill her. Come on, out.

Katie: Sorry.

Liam: Hey. Shh. Come on, shh. (Sighs)

Hope: (Sighs) Liam's dad kept saying it over and over how important it is that Liam is gentle and--and supportive towards Steffy and--and how dangerous it would be if she were upset.

Brooke: Honey, we just have to give it time.

Hope: Mom, don't you see? Liam is trapped. He's trapped. He wants to be with me. I know he does. But he cannot leave Steffy when she's in this condition. And I-I wouldn't want him to.

Brooke: Well, it's not going to work. If he's really in love with you, he's not going to be able to hide his feelings from Steffy.

Hope: But he has to. Mom, if he walks out on Steffy, she could die. Bill made that very clear.

Brooke: He did, huh?

Hope: And I want to be married to Liam so badly. I'm so in love with him. But I just don't see how that's ever going to work.

Brooke: I'll be back.

Hope: Where are you going?

Brooke: I need to see Liam.

Hope: Oh, hey. Um, how's Steffy?

Ridge: Pretty much the same. Bill's personal physician examined her.

Taylor: The next few months are going to be very important for her recovery.

Hope: I know.

Ridge: Sweetie, we're worried about you.

Hope: I’ll survive.

Taylor: Hope, no, you're going to have to do a little bit better than that.

Hope: Look, if you're worried about me and Liam--

Ridge: I'm worried about Steffy, but yes, I'm also worried about you, too.

Taylor: Look, I empathize with you, okay, but there is a marriage here, and you have to learn how to accept it and respect it. That's all. But this is especially important right now.

Ridge: Hope, you do know that I'm here for you. I wanna help you get through this. Where's your mom?

Hope: Uh, she--she left.

Ridge: Do you know where she went?

Hope: I told her all about the accident, everything that happened-- Liam said he loved me, we kissed-- and she left to go see him.

Taylor: (Sighs)

(Doorbell rings)

Liam: Come on in.

Brooke: Guess I don't have to ask how you're doing.

Liam: No, no, you don't.

Brooke: Is there any change in Steffy's condition?

Liam: No. No, and there won't be, not anytime soon.

Brooke: I'm sorry. This is terrible, for all of you. Hope told me that she and Thomas had been drinking.

Liam: No. No. Not--no, Thomas and Steffy were trying to get Hope drunk. That's what happened.

Brooke: Do you have any idea why they would want to do that?

Liam: I can only imagine. That's why I went taking off after Hope when I saw her on the beach. She didn't look herself. I thought something was wrong.

Brooke: So you wanted to protect her.

Liam: Yeah, I wanted to make sure she was okay. (Sighs)

Brooke: (Sighs) It's like Aspen all over again. Steffy doing everything she possibly can to keep you and Hope apart.

Liam: Yeah, and you know something she promised me she would never do that to me again.

Brooke: But she's going to. As long as she feels threatened, she's gonna keep on doing the same thing. Hope told me that you kissed her.

Liam: Well, that's not all I did. (Chuckles)

Brooke: You told her you love her. She loves you, too.

Liam: Yeah, I don't know where you're going with this exactly.

Brooke: When you figured out what Thomas and Steffy were doing, did you think maybe you might leave Steffy for Hope?

Liam: Look, come on.

Brooke: What were you doing in the hospital? I mean, the things that you were saying. You said you were gonna set things straight. What does that mean? Hope thought that you were gonna leave Steffy. Now is that true, or were you just caught up in some romantic fantasy?

Liam: No.

Brooke: Or--or maybe you were feeding her lines.

Liam: No, no, n-not--not at all.

Brooke: Well, then do something, Liam. End this marriage as soon as Steffy is out of the woods.

Liam: (Sighs)

Brooke: You have to divorce her. It's the best thing for you, for Hope, even for Steffy. Just take charge of your life, and be with the person that you want to be with. And that's Hope.
