Brooke: You don't want dinner?
Ridge: Just stay with me here.
Brooke: What about Thomas and Steffy? These holidays are gonna be rough for them. I want to be there for them, Ridge. Be strong and loving, just the same way you've been for my son.
Ridge: Will he be back here tonight?
Brooke: Mm-hmm.
Ridge: I should probably get going.
Brooke: No. No, don't go yet. I want to talk to Rick and ask him to step down from the presidency at Forrester Creations. I-I can't imagine that he has much of an appetite for that anymore. You need to work, especially now.
Ridge: I didn't intend to get into this tonight, but since we have, um, I need more than that, Logan.
Brooke: Name it.
Ridge: I can try and keep Mother from wanting to put Rick behind bars, but I don't trust him. I don't want to look at him, and I don't want him around. Let him move back to Paris.
(Knock on door)
Stephanie: You're not welcome here, Rick.
Rick: (Sighs) Stephanie, please. This is my father's house. I understand you want me in prison.
Stephanie: What I want is for my granddaughter to be alive and well, but seeing as that's not possible, I'll settle for your accountability.
Rick: Stephanie, please. Listen, I'm-- I am scum. I've done a lot, especially recently, that I'm ashamed of, that I regret. But who the hell are you to throw the first stone? After the way you've treated my mother over the years, my father-- Stephanie, nothing I've ever done even comes close to your level of abuse.
Stephanie: They're still alive and breathing.
Rick: (Sighs) I can be accused of hurting Phoebe, yes. But I cannot be accused of killing her. That is a lie that I will not tolerate.
Woman: May I bring you anything after takeoff? We've just been cleared.
Donna: Uh, tea, please.
Woman: Certainly, Mrs.-- Um... mi-- uh...
Donna: That's okay. I-I don't really know who I am anymore either.
Owen: So you had me under video surveillance. That's the reason why you hired me back? So that you could keep an eye on Donna? You sat there, and you watched us on that monitor.
Eric: Well, you came on to Donna often enough right in front of me.
Owen: No, I came on to her because I was so frustrated the way that you were treating her, your allowing your ex-wife to move in with the two of you while you make her wait for your decision as to whether or not you want to be with her. She has been nothing but committed to you. And the two people that you saw on that monitor were not Donna and me. They were two models who were paid to put on a show for you.
Eric: What?
Owen: Yeah. And they looked so much like us you would think the worst, and you would run back to Stephanie.
Eric: Who would do that? Who would do that kind of a thing to me?
Owen: Well, unless my guess is off, I imagine he's probably listening to us right now.
Eric: Thorne?
Thorne: See, we all knew what was going on. Hell, you even walked in on them, but you let them talk you into believing that what you saw--
Eric: Now wait. Are you telling me that this is true? That this is true? That you hired two people who look like him and Donna to do this in that office?
Thorne: You couldn't catch them in the act, so I let you catch them.
Eric: How could you do that to me?
Thorne: How could you do this to Mother? You spend your whole life with her, and you just throw her out? For what? And don't forget, I know what you see in Donna, because I lost my head once, and my family rallied around and brought me back to my senses. I'm returning the favor.
Eric: (Sighs) Has the jet left for San Francisco? Thank God. You-- you have the decency not to drag your mother into this. I will talk to her myself. Um... thank you. Thank you.
Stephanie: The police's decision to investigate this situation has nothing to do with me and everything to do with your reckless behavior and driving.
Rick: There was a reason for that, Stephanie.
Stephanie: You son of a bitch. All you're doing is making excuses for yourself for that girl's death.
Rick: I am not excusing myself. Please!
Stephanie: Yes, you are! A few mea culpas here and there, and no real acceptance of responsibility for this. I cannot believe that my son is letting you get away with this. All I can say is God help the other children that your mother has if-- if she's raising them the way she raised you, with no concept of consequences.
Rick: I'm-- I can't stand here. I'm wasting my time. Stephanie, you've never changed your mind about a damn thing in your life.
Stephanie: Guess what, Rick? You're gonna wake up every day for the rest of your life knowing that that beautiful young girl will never wake up again because of you.
Brooke: (Sighs) So you want to send Rick back to the international office?
Ridge: It's not like it's Outer Mongolia. He was happy in Paris, right?
Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, it's-- it's so close to Christmas.
Ridge: Like you said, holidays are gonna be tough for a lot of us.
Ridge: Look, Logan, I know you love him. He's your son. But look at the impact that he's had on all of our lives. You and I have broken up twice. He has my job. My daughter is dead because of him. I just want my life back. I want my life back with you. Are you able to hear this?
Brooke: Yeah.
Ridge: You do realize that things can't keep going the way they have been.
Brooke: (Sighs) I do.
Ridge: Good. Rick is not going to accept anything that sounds like an ultimatum from me. He's gonna have to hear it from you.
Woman: Your tea.
Donna: Could you take that away please? The hon--honey bear.
Eric: Somebody mention my name?
Thorne: You stupid bastard. You could have had her if you'd have kept your mouth shut.
Owen: She didn't want me.
Thorne: She didn't want me either, until she realized I was the best she could do at the time. Now you know why I worry about my father?
Owen: I'm so sick and tired of your family persecuting Donna. She loves your father. I just hope that he gets to her in time.
Eric: I-I've done something that I'm ashamed of, and I need to tell you about it.
Donna: Eric--
Eric: No, wait. Wait. Wait. After the heart attack when I was recovering, I-I felt so--I was so weak and--and vulnerable, and I felt so... old. And I-- I didn't trust you.
Donna: (Sighs) I thought we got past all that.
Eric: Well, I-- I hadn't. And I-I-I knew that I had to, though, and so I came up with an idea that I thought could prove it to me. I, uh, I had a surveillance camera installed in Owen's office.
Donna: What?
Eric: I knew he wouldn't give up on you, and-- and I wanted to see that-- if you would give in to him. And if you did, how long it would take you. And--and--yeah.
Donna: (Scoffs) Well, if-- if that's what you did, then you-- you would see that nothing--
Eric: And I saw the two of you. I saw the two of you with your hands all over each other, tearing each other's clothes off.
Donna: What? No!
Eric: And that's why I told you the marriage was over.
Donna: Eric, nothing like that happened.
Eric: I know. I know that now. The two people I saw weren't you. They weren't you and Owen. They were-- they were two other people who looked like you, who were paid to do that-- to--to make me think that you were laughing at me behind my back.
Donna: Paid?
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: Who-- oh. Yeah, one of, uh, your children. I'm guessing Thorne.
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: (Sighs)
Eric: I'm sorry, Donna. If I, uh-- I lost faith. I lost faith in us and in myself, and I lost faith in you. And when you love somebody, faith is like oxygen. Without it, it just--you-- everything withers up and dies.
Eric: Will you ever be able to forgive me?
(Door shuts)
Stephanie: Oh, you're lucky. If you'd been here 20 minutes ago, you would have run into Rick.
Ridge: What did he want?
Stephanie: Let's not even go there. But if you're going to insist on not pressing charges against him, he's going to continue with this sense of entitlement and show up here, there, anywhere he wants.
Ridge: No, no, no, Mother. Brooke's taking care of all of that as we speak.
Rick: So I think we're gonna be okay.
Brooke: How do you mean?
Rick: Well, I just got back from seeing Stephanie. And, um, she's not exactly thrilled that I'm not behind bars, but I think she's going to accept the situation as it is.
Brooke: Because of Ridge. I told you.
Rick: You think I should thank him.
Brooke: No. I'm not that naive.
Rick: So you said this was important.
Brooke: It is. Ridge loves me, and his needs are as important to me as mine are to him.
Rick: (Scoffs) So this is gonna be one of those conversations?
Brooke: Honey, I still have you. Ridge lost a daughter. And I just pray to God that neither of us ever have to feel that kind of pain. But Ridge has a right to think that I am going to respect his feelings and shield him from any kind of future pain.
Rick: Okay, well, how exactly are you gonna do that?
Brooke: I want to ask you to step down from the presidency at Forrester.
Rick: (Sighs)
Brooke: It's Ridge's job, Rick, and you two can't work together. I would just be unrealistic.
Rick: Oh, Mom-- all right, you know what? We'll talk to Dad. We'll see what he says on the subject.
Brooke: No. No, I think this is a reasonable request, and if you want, you can get your old job back. Move back to Paris.
Rick: (Sighs)
Eric: I let the pilot take off because I thought you would not be able to push me out of a window at 30,000 feet. Donna? Look, I realize that-- that forgiveness is not gonna come overnight.
Donna: There's nothing to forgive.
Eric: (Sighs) I should have believed you. I mean, you've always been honest with me.
Donna: Eric, no I have not. I've s--
Eric: No, but I have had been honest with you, I would have just run right into that room and-- and confronted you with what I saw on the monitor. It would have--
Donna: Eric, my God. You asked me to forgive you and now--now you won't let me.
Eric: I don't want you to suppress your feelings about this.
Donna: What do you want me to do? Torture you for a few months? I mean, what-- what do you take me for? Stephanie? I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but if I saw a video of you and Stephanie in the throes of foreplay, believe me, I would see red. And I don't care if it was just a model that looked like Stephanie. Well, or a model's mother, or-- (laughs)
Eric: Amanda, we won't be needing any further cabin service this evening. My wife and I would like some privacy.
Donna: Your wife?
Eric: Do you-- do you have any objections to that?
Donna: No. But I-I don't expect everything to be back the way it--
Eric: I love you. I love you so much. And you show me what happiness is just-- it's right here. Right in front of me. Love me again.
Donna: I always did.
Eric: Be my wife again.
Donna: Yes.
Donna: (Laughs)
Eric: (Chuckles)
Rick: So you see me the same way Stephanie sees me-- as a killer.
Brooke: Oh, my God. No, of course not.
Rick: Well, I can think of two reasons to leave the country, Mom. That would be one of them. The second would be the fact that your relationship with Ridge depends upon it.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Rick: Did Ridge say that in so many words?
Brooke: Honey, I'm just trying to do the best thing for everybody.
Rick: What? So you're gonna send me away? That's really rich, Mom. Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas, Rick.
Brooke: Okay, this really is not fair. If you'll be honest, you will know that you were antagonizing Ridge long before this accident happened. And Ridge is grieving right now.
Rick: I do admit that. I do admit to that. But you know what, Mom? I'm grieving, too.
Brooke: I know. That's why I think it's really important that you two get as far away from each other as possible. (Sighs) You can have some time and space to heal.
Rick: Time and space? Wh--so he needs the entire continent?
Brooke: You loved Paris. You had a great life there.
Rick: (Sighs) Yeah. I did love Paris, Mom. But you know what? Ridge lost the company over there so I had to come back home and rebuild a life here per your request. Do we need to rehash this?
Brooke: No. I think it's fair.
Rick: What? To--to-- to take Ridge's side?
Brooke: That's not what I'm doing.
Rick: Did you negotiate for me at all, or did you just listen to Ridge's list of demands and go along with them?
Brooke: Yes, it's what Ridge wants. It's what I want, too.
Rick: So let me get this straight. You are faced yet again with a decision-- Rick or Ridge. And you choose him.
Brooke: For now. For now.
Rick: What's gonna change in your mind, Mom, that would potentially bring me back home? What? In five, ten years, Ridge and I start to miss each other?
Brooke: Oh, my God. Can't you have a little compassion for the loss that Ridge has suffered? He doesn't want to send you away, it's just he can't deal with you right now.
Rick: I never asked him to deal with me. But-- (sighs) you're my mom. You are my mother.
Brooke: Yes, I am your mother. (Sighs) and is it so selfish of me to want to salvage some kind of love with the man of my life, have some compassion for everything that he's going through right now? If it is, then so be it, because I need you to do this, Rick, for Ridge, for me, for everybody. Just go to Paris. Make a life for yourself there. Do it. Just for now. Do it for me.
