Ridge: So you're telling me that Phoebe's death wasn't an accident?

Stephanie: I'm not saying that Rick crashed his car on purpose.

Ridge: Then what are you saying?

Stephanie: The police have questions. Lt. Baker came to the house to talk to Rick. I spoke to him instead, and he said that they have questions because there wasn't another automobile involved. They want to find out-- try and figure out what caused the crash.

Steffy: (Sniffles) You--you've always had such beautiful hands. But they're so cold now. (Sniffles) Are you cold? Are you cold? Maybe I could get another sheet for you. (Sniffles) I can, uh, get another blanket to keep you warm.

Steffy: Oh, my God. What am I doing? What am I doing? (Sobs) A blanket's not gonna help you. (Sobs)

Steffy: My love-- my love will keep you warm. My love will keep you warm wherever you are. (Sobs) God!

Steffy: Oh, God. Phoebe. You know I'll always miss that beautiful voice of yours. (Sighs) Mom says you sound like angels.

Steffy: And now you'll be up there singing with them. And I'll know it's you. (Sobs) phoebe. I can't do this alone. I can't do this alone. I can't do this without you. I'm so scared, Phoebe. I just don't think-- (sobs) I can't-- (sobs) I can't breathe without you. (Sobs) I can't do this alone, Phoebe. (Sobs)

Brooke: Honey, it was an accident, a horrible, horrible accident.

Rick: Oh, stop it. Please, will you stop saying that?

Brooke: It's true.

Rick: (Scoffs) It didn't mean it had to happen, Mom. It doesn't make it all right. It doesn't mean that Phoebe deserved it. It happened because of what I had become, what I allowed myself to become. My relationship with Taylor ended. I loved her so much. And I blamed Ridge for that. I gotta tell you something. I told you that he attacked me up at the Skylab. The truth is I attacked him. He was just defending himself, and he pushed me a-away, and--and that's why I fell.

Brooke: Y-you said that--

Rick: I know what I said. And I said it so that you would blame him, to make it look like he attacked me again, that he lashed out at me again like he did in Sydney, so that you two could break up. I also made you tell him to move out while I could recover. And the truth is, Mom, I recovered a lot sooner than you thought. And why did I do these things? For your love? For your respect? Your--your--your attention? None of that matters anymore because Phoebe is gone. Phoebe is dead.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Stephanie: Lt. Baker said that there were skid marks. That he apparently-- Rick was veering all over the road.

Ridge: Great. Then he was drunk.

Stephanie: No. No, they gave him a breathalyzer test at the scene. He was not impaired. The question is, how and why did he lose control of the car?

Ridge: Mother, my daughter is dead. Knowing why is not gonna make a damn bit of difference, because nothing is gonna bring her back.

Ridge: Hey, sweetheart. It's me. Your grandmother's here, too.

Steffy: I always knew when Phoebe was thinking about me. I'd always get a phone call or a text. She'd just pop into my head. A few days ago, I woke up really early before the sun came out. I went onto the balcony. It was so peaceful and quiet, and it felt like I was the only one awake in the city. And then Phoebe called me. (Sobs)

Steffy: She said, "What are you doing?" And I told her I was looking at the sky.

Steffy: And she said, "Me, too." And I just knew right then and there, out of all the stars in the sky, we were looking at the exact same one. (Sobs)

Steffy: I just know it's never gonna happen again. It's never gonna happen. That moment's gone, Dad. (Sobs)

Brooke: Your crutches? Not being able to walk? That was all pretense?

Rick: No. No, no, no. You were there at the hospital, Mom. That--you saw the test. I was paralyzed. It's just that when--when-- when I got home, I learned how to-- to stand up and walk a lot sooner than you thought. And I hid it from you because it kept Ridge out of the house, and I was so desperate to keep you two apart.

Brooke: (Sighs) My God. I-I have to take some responsibility.

Rick: No. No, you don't. Please.

Brooke: No, you were just a little boy, and all you needed was your mom, and I was just too busy being obsessed with Ridge.

Rick: No, Mom, please do not take this off of me. I don't want you to do that. Please.

Brooke: I am just telling you that I understand.

Rick: Then-- (sighs) listen, you don't understand, and that's what I'm trying to tell you. All of that, it's-- it's just the beginning. Dad promoted me as president of Forrester Creations. And on my first day, remember we had the-- the press conference, the podcast? And you said all of those wonderful things about Ridge and how you feel about him, what he means to the company. Well, I edited the podcast. Ridge never heard those things. Well, at least I made it seem like you were talking about me. That's why he was so angry with you, and I knew his ego couldn't take it, and he would probably leave you, and it almost worked. And I kind of wish it had, because things got a lot worse after that. A lot worse.

Steffy: She's gone, Dad. (Sniffles)

Ridge: I don't want to believe it either.

Stephanie: Steffy, you're exhausted. Let your father take you home.

Steffy: No. We shouldn't be apart. She shouldn't be here.

Stephanie: Honey, she's always going to be part of you. She'll always be with you. And in a way, she'll always be looking on you.

Steffy: Oh, how can she do that? It's too much. She needs to be with me and her family, Dad.

Ridge: She'll always be with our family, hon.

Steffy: (Sniffles)

Ridge: She'll always be a part of us.

Steffy: But she's gone. She's gone, Dad. Because I'm trying to feel her in my heart, and I can't. I can't. She's gone. There's a choice?

Brooke: Phoebe's gone. Why are we even talking about this?

Rick: Because you need to know about this, Mom. It's important. I was obsessing over your relationship with Ridge. It was driving me crazy. I was thinking to myself-- I'm like, wh--what do I do? How do I break them up? You know? When--when was the last time that they broke up? And--and--and then it occurred to me. It was in Sydney in the hotel room when Ridge punched me in the face because I was in a relationship with his daughter. So I figured maybe I could send Marcus away. And I did. I sent Marcus to Paris to Forrester International, and then I-I made my move on Steffy. And I kissed her.

Brooke: Steffy? (Scoffs) Why would you do that? Why would you seduce her? To get back at Ridge?

Rick: Well, yes, of course. But I-it didn't work. That's the thing. I mean, I-I kissed her, and she slapped me across the face. And then Phoebe came home, and Steffy told her.

Brooke: Oh, Rick, no.

Rick: Phoebe was so mad, Mom.

Rick: (Sighs) She was so hurt. She came to my office. I was getting ready to go to your rehearsal dinner. She just started yelling at me. I'd never seen her like that before, so I panicked. I-I said, "I--we can't do this now. I-I'm late for your rehearsal dinner," and--and I left. I went down to the parking lot, and I got in the car. And the next thing I know, I'm starting the engine, and she was there. And she jumped in the car. So I figured, okay. She--she needs a ride. And we were driving. And she just went berserk. Crazy. I-- yelling. Screaming. She jumped on top of me. She's clawing at my face. And then she grabbed the steering wheel. And she's yelling, "Pull over, Rick. Just pull over." And she--she wrenches the steering wheel over, and--and then she went to put her foot on the brake. And it slipped off, and--and--and it wedged on the accelerator. And...

Rick: Don't you see? None of this had to happen. None of it. And it's all my fault. It's all my fault.

Rick: (Sighs)

Steffy: (Sighs) Can you hear me?

Steffy: Can you feel me? How can you feel me up there? Can you feel me? Can you feel me up there? Can you feel me? Are you up there, Phoebe? Phoebe, are you up there? Phoebe?

Steffy: I can--I feel you. You were always a star.

Steffy: And now you're up there in the sky. And you really are a star.

Steffy: No matter how far apart we are, we always be a part of each other. (Sighs) You're still with me.

Ridge: Steffy, what are you doing?

Steffy: I can still feel you. A beautiful star.

Ridge: Come down from there right now.

Steffy: A beautiful star. Aah! (Sobs)

Ridge: It's okay. It's okay. I've got you.

Stephanie: He lost control of the car.

Lt. Baker: He was definitely speeding a the moment of impact. Initial estimates suggest twice the limit.

Stephanie: You mean he was doing 50 miles an hour in a 25-mile zone?

Lt. Baker: Maybe faster. He was accelerating.

Stephanie: Accelerating?

Lt. Baker: If he hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, he probably would have been killed, too.

Stephanie: She wasn't wearing a seatbelt?

Lt. Baker: No, she wasn't. Things might have turned out a whole lot different if she had been.

Ridge: Steffy, what were you doing?

Steffy: I wanted to feel Phoebe. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Ridge: It's okay, baby. It's okay. You're safe. That's all that matters.

Steffy: You know, she's up there. She's happy. She's shining brighter than ever.

Brooke: Oh, Stephanie. Good. Come on in. I was gonna call. Is Ridge still at the hospital?

Stephanie: No, he's at my house with the kids.

Brooke: Well, I think we should go over there. It's very important that we bond together as a family.

Stephanie: Where's Rick?

Brooke: He's-- (sighs) staying away. I think that's best, considering how he's feeling.

Stephanie: How's he feel? Guilty?

Brooke: Well, he was driving the car.

Stephanie: Yes, driving erratically. I was just at the crash site. You should see the skid marks all over the road.

Brooke: I know. He--he lost control.

Stephanie: Yes, and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. That's why she was thrown out of the car and into the ditch. What does that tell you?

Brooke: That tells me this was a horrible, horrible accident.

Stephanie: No, it tells me that she's dead because of his irresponsible and reckless behavior. It tells me that it was no accident.

Brooke: You're blaming Rick?

Stephanie: I-I'm looking at the facts, just the way the police are.

Brooke: Oh, my God. You're going after Rick? You're using this family tragedy to go after my son? You want him thrown in jail?

Stephanie: I want this- I want Phoebe not to be dead. I want this never to have happened. But it has, because of him.

Brooke: (Quietly) You stay away from my son.

Stephanie: She's dead because of him. He killed her, and he's gonna pay for what he's done.

Brooke: (Sighs)
