Donna: Who do you want to be with?
Eric: I know exactly how to handle this.
Stephanie: All right. What's the answer?
Donna: Well, honey bear, we're--we're waiting.
Brooke: Ridge, please. This can't happen again, you spending the night at Taylor's.
Ridge: Logan, nothing happened.
Brooke: Not for her lack of trying, I'm sure.
Ridge: Thomas is in town. He was staying at the house. It only made sense that I would stay there.
Taylor: Ridge got to spend a little time with some people who appreciate him, something he's not feeling at your house these days.
Brooke: What?
Taylor: Didn't you ask him to move out?
Brooke: For my son.
Ridge: Logan, we all understand why you asked me to leave.
Brooke: Time apart will give Rick some perspective.
Ridge: Maybe. Although I'm starting to wonder if he wouldn't take advantage of this.
Brooke: Rick's paralyzed. What's there to take advantage of?
Ridge: Brooke, you are a wonderful mother. You'll do anything for your children. I love that about you. You put Rick first. You asked me to move out. I get it. But please be careful. Rick would like nothing better than to see us apart, and now he's figured out a way to make that happen. Personally, I think he's gonna milk this for everything it's worth.
Eric: You know what? You're right. You both deserve an answer. Unfortunately, I can't give you one right now. There's way too much going on in my life. Rick has been paralyzed, and that has to be my priority, not my love life.
Stephanie: Well, that's perfectly understandable.
Donna: Of course. I-I-I'm not gonna pressure you. I think it's just important that we're all here for one another. My God, my poor nephew. It breaks my heart.
Stephanie: Yes, as his aunt, this must be a particularly difficult time for you.
Donna: Well, it is.
Stephanie: Funny. (Laughs) you ignored him his whole childhood. I, on the other hand, as his stepmother shared a great portion of his life.
Eric: All right. There's no reason to prove which one of you has the more sympathy.
Stephanie: Absolutely. I'll stand by you through this as I have stood by you through many crises in your life.
Donna: Well, no, I didn't raise a family with you, Eric, but it doesn't mean I love you any less. And I think I've--I've proven that I can stand strong in times of trouble recently. And I will be there for you and Rick. You can count on that.
Eric: It seems like I've given you the wrong impression. I don't need for either one of you to plead your case with me. I would never ask you to do that. You're two beautiful, wonderful women. I love you both.
Donna: You-- you love us both?
Stephanie: You don't want to decide, do you?
Eric: No, I don't.
Donna: What are you saying, Eric? I mean, what exactly are we supposed to do?
Ridge: Rick's a smart kid. He'll find a way to take advantage of the situation. He already has, actually. I've moved out of the house, haven't I? But that's not gonna be enough, Brooke. Somehow he's gonna find a way, and he's not gonna be satisfied until he totally ends our relationship.
Brooke: Honey, this is only temporary. Because we're doing this for Rick doesn't change the way we feel about each other. I will always be committed to you. I missed you so much last night. (Sighs) I wanted to make up for it today, but somebody ruined it. You know, I have to go visit Rick. So why don't you come over, and we'll make up for lost time.
Ridge: Oh, I've got a meeting I've gotta do here with Dad.
Brooke: After?
Ridge: Oh, I'm sure Rick would love that.
Brooke: He won't even know. (Whispers) just come up the back way.
Brooke: (Normal voice) Good-bye, Taylor. I hope you enjoyed Ridge spending the night at your house last night, because it's never going to happen again.
Taylor: Why does she think she can do that? You know, throw you out of your house and then dictate where you're going to stay?
Ridge: I can see her point.
Taylor: Where? (Sighs) because I-I definitely don't see it. I mean, I enjoyed having you over at the house last night. I thought it was very natural. It felt very natural, and it seemed very natural for you being there in our home where we raised our kids. It was a lot of fun just spending time with the kids and playing with them and playing tennis, having dinner out on the patio. That was fun. You could have that again. I know I could spend the rest of my life like that.
Eric: I'm not sure that anything actually has to be done. I would like both of your love and support, and I would hope that that would be enough for right now.
Stephanie: You have that.
Donna: From both of us.
Stephanie: But Donna's moving in.
Donna: Well, aren't I?
Stephanie: Is she?
Eric: I haven't asked you to.
Stephanie: Well, I think she just assumed--
Donna: You don't want me to move back in?
Eric: No, I would love for you to move back in.
Stephanie: Well, I'm not ready to leave.
Eric: I haven't asked you to. I could move out.
Stephanie: Well, that's ridiculous.
Donna: Oh, don't be ridiculous. This is your home.
Stephanie: Where would you go?
Donna: This is your home.
Stephanie: Look, Donna's insisting on moving in.
Donna: You're the one who won't move out.
Stephanie: Well, I don't think I'm gonna do anything until Eric asks me to.
Eric: I haven't asked anything. Look, I need both of you right now.
Stephanie: Okay.
Donna: Good.
Stephanie: Well, I'll have the guesthouse made up for you.
Donna: Make it up for yourself. I'm not gonna be way out there with you badmouth--
Eric: Now I know how to settle this. We'll all live together right here, together.
(Knock on door)
Brooke: Hi, honey.
Rick: Hey!
Brooke: Wow, what's all that?
Rick: This? Um, oh, this is just a bunch of faxes and e-mails that Dad brought over, um, from the international office. People wishing me well, things like that.
Brooke: Mm. That's nice.
Rick: Yeah.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Rick: What's going on? Are you okay?
Brooke: Yeah, it's nothing for you to worry about.
Rick: Well, I won't worry about it anymore if you tell me.
Brooke: Ridge spent the night at Taylor's last night.
Rick: What?
Brooke: No, it's not what you thi--
Rick: Oh, my--
Brooke: It was very innocent. Thomas was in town. And they just wanted to spend time as a family. And--I mean, it's still very upsetting.
Rick: (Sighs) Yeah.
Brooke: I wish he would have thought about how it would make me feel.
Rick: Well, he's not gonna do that, Mom. Ridge does not think about anybody but himself. I'm sorry. I know this is hard for you, but it kind of confirms what I've been trying to tell you all along. Ridge is exactly where he wants to be. He's got you and Taylor on a string, you know?
Brooke: Honey, you make it sound like it was intentional.
Rick: Because it is intentional. Mom, this is how Ridge gets his power. He has you and Taylor pining away for him, you know, competing for his attention. You don't have to deal with this anymore. Let Taylor deal with this. You deserve better. Don't you deserve a man who's gonna be with you and only you, and he's not gonna be keeping an eye on his precious "Doc" all the time? Mom, Ridge is never gonna be good enough for you. Never.
Donna: Eric? Poor honey bear. I'd need a nap, too, if I had to deal with mean old Stephanie all morning. Wake up. Somebody has to let little old goldilocks forget about the mean old real-life bear that she met.
Donna: This porridge feels just right.
Stephanie: This porridge...
Donna: (Gasps)
Stephanie: Is way too hot for you, Goldilocks.
Eric: Hey.
Ridge: What's all this?
Eric: Oh, it's a bunch of Rick's papers. You know, we're gonna have to pick up the slack around here while he's gone. Do you know what he does with-- with all the invoices? I can't find them. I don't want to bother him with them right now.
Ridge: Dad, are you sure you want to be back here now? I mean, you're recovering, as well.
Eric: No, I'm fine. I'm absolutely sure. I feel good.
Ridge: Please don't overdo it, okay?
Eric: All right.
Ridge: Look, Brooke took care of all the outstanding invoices, and I've returned all of Rick's phone calls.
Eric: Oh. All right, well, good. Good. That's great. (Sighs) (chuckles)
Ridge: You know, you really need to take it easy here for a couple weeks. Why don't you work from home for a while?
Eric: Actually, I think it... (sighs) it'll be a little more relaxing around here.
Ridge: Why?
Eric: I've got a full house. Donna moved back.
Ridge: What? So Mother's relegated back to the beach house?
Eric: No, no. Your mother is still there, too. That's what I mean. I got a full house, you know?
Ridge: The three of you are living there together?
Eric: Look, I'm concentrating on other things, Ridge-- on Rick and on the business and on my health. And I have these two wonderful women, both of whom want to spend the rest of their lives with me, and they're both willing to sit there and-- and, uh, stand by me and wait until a decision is made. So there you go.
Ridge: Come on. This is ridiculous. What are you doing?
Eric: No, you know what? You need to accept the fact that Donna is still my wife.
Ridge: Dad, Donna is playing you. God, I thought we were rid of her.
Eric: Look, this is-- I can make my own decisions, and this is my decision to make. And if I end up choosing Donna, you're gonna have to suck it up and accept it.
Brooke: I'm sorry you don't think Ridge is healthy for me. But I love him.
Rick: (Sighs)
Brooke: I've loved him for as long as I can remember.
Rick: This is not love, Mom. It's an obsession.
Brooke: Oh, honey, I don't expect you to understand.
Rick: But I do understand, Mom. That's the thing. I know Ridge. I know how he operates. It's--it's brilliant, actually, when you think about it. He makes you fall in love with him, and then he keeps you dangling by his side while he pursues somebody else. Now look, Taylor has got the table scraps right now, but don't worry. It'll be your turn in a few months.
Brooke: That's probably what it looked like when you were growing up, but that's not really what was going on.
Rick: That's exactly what was going on. He swooped in, took you away from Dad, basically destroyed our family--
Brooke: Honey, your father and I weren't exactly some great love affair. Ridge didn't swoop in and break up some epic romance. We were together at a small window of time because we needed each other. I was a distraction from Stephanie, and he was a distraction from Ridge.
Rick: What the-- how could you say that?
Brooke: Because I-I really think you need to hear that.
Rick: You loved Dad.
Brooke: Of course I loved Dad. I love him because he's the father of my children and the father of Ridge.
Ridge: Fine. You know what? Do it the hard way, all right? But I'm not a kid anymore, and I sure as hell don't have the strength to pick you up out of your despair when he chooses Taylor for the millionth time.
Brooke: Oh, that is not going to happen.
Rick: Well, of course it is. Can't you see this? He had to swoop in and take Taylor away from me 'cause he couldn't stand the fact that Taylor could possibly be happy with someone besides him. So he's got you and Taylor going at it for a few months. He's gonna choose Taylor, and then, you know, you'll have your shot again in a few years.
Brooke: Rick, stop it!
Rick: No. You know, I'm sick and tired of people letting Ridge get away with everything. People think he's oh-so-charming, and they grovel when-- when women just fall in love with him. They think he's oh-so-romantic. And people put up with it. They don't stand up to him. Not Dad. Not Thorne. But I'm sick of it. I'm sick and tired. I will stand up to him. I will be the one that will finally put a stop to Ridge Forrester.
Stephanie: Do you always wear something like that under your regular clothes?
Donna: As a matter of fact, I do.
Stephanie: Oh, well, I guess it comes in handy if you have to seduce someone.
Donna: Where's Eric?
Stephanie: He went to work. I knew you were gonna pull something. My God, I didn't even count to ten.
Donna: You are insane.
Stephanie: And you are a liar, standing there with all your clothes off, playing out some kind of fairy-tale fantasy. I'm not gonna let you get away with any of this nonsense.
Donna: Oh, bring it on, Stephanie, because I'm ready. And I don't care if we're in the-- the same house, the same room or the same bed. I will never lose Eric to you.
Stephanie: Ha!
Donna: Ha!
Stephanie: Double ha!
Donna: Ha!
Ridge: I'm telling you, Dad, if you end up recommitting to Donna, it's gonna be a huge mistake.
Eric: Look, don't pressure me, Ridge. Both your mother and Donna respect me enough to give me the time to make this decision. I expect the same from you.
Ridge: Fine. I just don't know how you can deal with all this stuff-- coming to work and recovering from your heart attack. I mean, it really worries me.
Eric: Well, I can. I'm doing it. I'm doing it.
Ridge: Why would you have to?
Eric: It's my job, Ridge. It's my job.
Ridge: Dad, do you remember the night you had your heart attack? You and I had a, uh, discussion about me stepping into the position that I've worked towards my whole life.
Eric: Look, a lot has, uh-- a lot has changed since then.
Ridge: Dad, don't you want to relax, enjoy yourself, take care of your health, spend your life with Mother, or whoever? (Sighs) Dad, for years and years, you and I have worked side by side, father and son. We're a team. I'm telling you, it's time now. And I have earned it. Put me in control of Forrester Creations.
Brooke: Okay, I see what's going on here. This isn't about me at all. This is about Taylor. You're upset with her because she left you to go after Ridge. You have to understand something. This was all Taylor's doing. Ridge did not encourage this.
Rick: Yes, he did. It's just that you refuse to see that.
Brooke: You know what? Maybe I'm the wrong person you should be talking to about this. Would you like to see a professional?
Rick: Are you kidding me with that? A profession-- you mean a shrink. Mom, I don't need a shrink. I need Ridge out of our lives.
Brooke: Okay. At least talk to your father. Have a man-to-man conversation.
Rick: No. No, it's not gonna do any good, because Dad has always been more loyal to Ridge than me.
Brooke: That's not true.
Rick: Yes, it is. Don't you remember in Paris? I went over there to head up Forrester International, to run an aspect of the company, to gain good leadership skills, and then I come home, and it doesn't make a difference to Dad, because Ridge can draw pretty dresses on a sketch pad. He doesn't know how to run a company, not like I do. Yet Dad will turn the company over to Ridge someday. Not me.
Brooke: He is firstborn.
Rick: No, he's not, and you know it.
Brooke: For all intents and purposes.
Ridge: What? So that makes him better than the rest of us? And you know what's even more ridiculous is that Ridge doesn't even respect Dad.
Brooke: What are you talking about?
Rick: Dad's relationship with Donna-- all Ridge did was treat Donna like dirt, disrespect her, try to split Dad and Donna up so Dad could go back with Stephanie. I supported their relationship. I stood up for Dad and Donna at their wedding. Yet again, that doesn't make any difference to Dad because he will always choose Ridge over me, just like you.
Brooke: Did you talk to your father about this?
Rick: Yeah, I did. I told him that I would not go back to Forrester Creations. I will not be under Ridge's thumb any longer. I don't want Ridge controlling every aspect of my life.
Brooke: I can't help but feel a little responsible for the way you're feeling. I just wish that I made you feel like you came first in my life when you were growing up.
Rick: Now's your chance to put me first. Prove to me, Mom, that I am more important to you than Ridge. Mom, the thought of you and Ridge getting married again--it-- I wish I could explain it to you. It makes me sick. All the pain, all the humiliation that you have been through because of this man. Think about what he does to you. He convinces you that he loves you. Then he makes you feel insecure about that love. Mom, who does that to somebody that they love? He is not your destiny. Your destiny is good, and it is hopeful, and it is out there somewhere. You deserve somebody who is gonna treat you and love you the way you deserve to be loved and treated. Don't marry Ridge. End it... now... for me. But most importantly, for you.
