Donna: Please. Please, Eric, say something. Say something. Look, you know I love you, and deep in your heart, I know--I know you love me, too. We--we can make it right again. Just give me-- give me another chance.

Brooke: (Sighs) it's beautiful. You're beautiful.

Ridge: And very, very happy.

Brooke: And right now, the way I feel, I don't think I've ever been happier. (Giggles) mm.

(Doorbell rings)

Ridge: I'll get it.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: I'll get it.

Katie: Hi.

Nick: Hi.

Ridge: Nick, Katie.

Katie: Hey.

Ridge: Come on in.

Brooke: Hi.

Nick: Hi.

Katie: Hello.

Nick: So how are things going?

Brooke: Oh, I wish you were here when we walked in with jack.

Ridge: R.J. And hope were, uh, just too excited for words.

Brooke: They're so happy to have their little brother living with us part of the time. The kids just engulfed him, and you should have seen jack. When we walked in here, it was like he'd come home. He just laughed, and he played, and he wore himself out.

Katie: Well, it sounds like everything is working out perfectly.

Brooke: (Sighs) oh, and...

Katie: Oh, my...

Brooke: It's--it's official.

Katie: God.

Brooke: Yeah, I guess you could say that.

Katie: Wow. Lord, that is amazing.

Brooke: Yeah.

Katie: Congratulations.

Brooke: Thank you.

Katie: Oh, sweetheart, to both of you.

Ridge: Thank you, Katie. I am, uh, very happy. I couldn't be happier.

Brooke: Me either.

Nick: Well, I got the custody papers.

Brooke: Is it the same agreement that you have with Taylor?

Nick: It is.

Brooke: You think she'll sign them?

Nick: Actually, she already has.

Brooke: Oh, okay. Well, then I guess it's my turn. So where do I sign?

Ridge: Hold on. Hold on. Just a minute here. Nick and I have something to discuss first.

Ridge: I wrote this out last night.

Nick: "Parental declaration of intent"?

Brooke: Can I see that?

Ridge: We're all gonna be in Jack's life, making decisions for him, taking care of him. That's the priority. Regardless of what's happened in the past, all the problems we've had with each other, all the animosity and antagonism has to stop right now. That's what this is about, for Jack's sake.

Brooke: Thank you. (Sighs)

Ridge: "We, uh, agree to provide two very loving and stable homes for this little boy, to be parents and stepparents that respect each other and each other's relationships. We agree to surround this little boy with peace and harmony," something he's had trouble finding in his very, uh, young life. So what do you say, Marone, are you ready to do right by your son?

Nick: You want me to promise to respect you?

Ridge: And my relationship with Brooke.

Nick: I see. And you're gonna do the same for me?

Ridge: I give you my word.

Stephanie: Must you make every situation so melodramatic? Stop pacing up and down. You're gonna wear a hole in the ground.

Felicia: But, Mother, Donna's been up there a long time.

Stephanie: Listen, if the two of you can't-- please, if you just can't relax, then--you know what? It'd be better if you go home.

Thorne: Mother, Dad could be in trouble. You know what happened the last time she barged in on him.

Stephanie: (Sighs) look, he wanted to see her.

Donna: So you're gonna ask me to leave. There's nothing-- nothing I can say?

Eric: (Sighs) when I asked you to come here, I had every intention of asking you for a divorce.

Donna: But you haven't-- you haven't done that.

Eric: No.

Donna: Because... you still love me.

Eric: (Sighs) I'm just afraid-- I'm just afraid that's not enough.

Donna: Love is always enough. If it's real, it can get you through anything. I survived on my love for you. Look, I know it doesn't seem that way after what you saw, but...

Donna: But you were my first thought in the morning. You were my last prayer at night. I survived on love, Eric, and we can survive on it again.

Eric: But love isn't-- isn't just love. It has to be-- it has to be trust. I mean without trust, it's just need. It's just habit.

Donna: And that's why you've stayed with Stephanie all these years-- habit? Well, at least I made you happy. She didn't, and she won't. But how many second chances have you given her? My God, I'm asking for one second chance. Don't I deserve that? Doesn't our marriage deserve that?

Felicia: Mom, I know you love Dad, and you want to believe he'll do the right thing, but this is donna we're talking about.

Stephanie: Sweetheart, she is not the first woman that your father slept with while he was married to me, okay? And she is not-- she's not the last crisis that our relationship is gonna survive.

Thorne: How can you be so sure he's going to leave her?

Stephanie: You know, donna and Owen may not have had sex.

Felicia: (Scoffs)

Thorne: (Scoffs)

Stephanie: You know, ma-- she may be able to convince him that that's true, but that isn't the point. The point is what he saw-- the two of them together. That was a betrayal.

Felicia: But we don't know what he's seeing right now. I don't need to remind you of the persuasive power that woman possesses. She's probably using every one she's got on Dad this very minute.

Eric: This is not about Stephanie. This is about us. It's about you. It's about what you did.

Donna: Stephanie and your family has always played a role in our relationship, especially in the last few weeks, preventing me from seeing you, my own husband.

Eric: They were protecting me. They were doing everything they could to enhance my recovery.

Donna: You're grateful?

Eric: Grateful? Of course I am.

Donna: I can only imagine how it's been, you and your family together again, the closeness you shared. I mean, it hasn't been that way in a while, right? I mean, not since I've been in the picture. Your children have been angry and Stephanie, depressed, and you don't want to put them through that again. I--you want to reward them for their loyalty. They told you that I-I would betray you.

Eric: I didn't believe them. You know-- you know how I felt about you. I never thought that you would betray me with another man, a younger man, and yet-- and yet you did.

Donna: But here we are, alone, again in your bedroom. Eric, if I-- if I can touch you, if I can hold you... There's-- there's gotta still be hope. There has to be.

Eric: (Sighs) mm.

Donna: You're not ready to forgive me, not yet, but you're not ready to end it either. If you were, I-I wouldn't be standing here right now.

Eric: (Sighs) I don't want to be pressured.

Donna: (Scoffs) well, that's a lot to ask, living with somebody like Stephanie.

Eric: Still, I feel that this is where-- these is where I need to be right now.

Donna: But things could change? Is it possible? Just--please, just don't close the door on us. That's all I ask. We could still have everything that we ever dreamed of.

Eric: (Sighs)

Nick: I guess it's time to make this legal. My lawyers can have this filed by tomorrow.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Nick: And we can share custody by the end of the day. So... (sighs) here you are.

Brooke: Hm. (Sighs) thank you for this. And thank you. (Sighs) this little boy has had a place in my heart since the day he was born. Now he's going to have a place in this home and a place in this family because of your generosity and because of your understanding. He's gonna have two incredible parents and two amazing families.

Brooke: That little boy may be lucky, but you know what? Right now, I feel like the luckiest person in the world. (Sighs)

Ridge: (Sniffs)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Nick: Thank you.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Nick: (Sighs)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Felicia: Look, she could be doing God knows what to him. I'm gonna go help him. I'm goin' up there. Well, you're not gonna say anything?

Donna: I didn't come here to talk to you.

Thorne: I'll check on Dad.

Donna: He's fine, and I'm sorry to disappoint you, Stephanie, but he didn't ask me for a divorce.

Stephanie: But he didn't ask you to stay either.

Donna: Not yet. I asked him to forgive me, to give our marriage a second chance, and he heard me.

Felicia: You're lying.

Thorne: I don't believe you.

Stephanie: Felicia, Thorne, um, would you excuse me just for a minute? I'd like to talk to donna alone.

Stephanie: I don't care what you believe. That marriage to Eric is over.

[ Microwave beeping ]

Donna: I'm not gonna do this with you, Stephanie.

Stephanie: You begged him to forgive you, and he didn't, did he?

Donna: I asked him to forgive me, to prove to him how much I love him, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

Stephanie: But you've betrayed him and your marriage vows, and he saw that.

Donna: I hurt him. I disappointed him. But after being married to you for years, being let down by a wife is nothing new.

Stephanie: Don't you dare compare that farce of a marriage that you had with him to all the years that Eric and I have had together. And let me tell you something, miss. He and I will be together until death us do part.

Donna: Oh, really? Well, somebody should tell that to Eric, because I am still his wife.

Stephanie: Not for long. The very thing that made you so appealing to him is the very thing that has destroyed you, and now he realizes who truly loves him. Who was with him when he came out of that coma? I was, our children were. And where were you? You were in bed with another man.

Donna: You have no idea how much forgiveness he is capable of. You never appreciated his compassion. You thought it made him weak and gullible.

Stephanie: I never thought that about Eric. I've always known how strong he is, and now, fortunately for him, he's free of you.

Donna: He is still my husband.

Stephanie: I'm sure he'll offer you a very generous settlement, and then you and Owen can sail off into the sunset.

Donna: No. No, Stephanie, this is not over.

Stephanie: Yes, it is.

Donna: I know you, and I know what you are capable of to get what you want, but do you know me? Do you know the lengths I will go to to protect the people I love? Eric is the love of my life, and I am not giving him up, not to you, not to anyone. While there's still a breath in my body, I will not give up on our marriage.

Katie: So what's next?

Nick: What's next-- I get these to my lawyers, and we coordinate our schedules.

Brooke: That's it?

Nick: You are officially Jack's mother.

Brooke: (Laughs)

Nick: I'll let Taylor know that everything's signed.

Ridge: Please tell her that jack will be in good hands.

Nick: I told her you'd never go for this, Forrester. (Chuckles) I still can't believe you have.

Ridge: Well, what jack needs comes first. That's what Brooke helped me to understand. I'm actually looking forward to, uh, helpin' the little boy turn into a man.

Nick: (Scoffs) Forrester, that's a little ways down the pike yet.

Ridge: Well...

Brooke: This is Jack's first night in our home. The kids are ecstatic.

Ridge: R.J. Was happy he wasn't gonna be the baby anymore.

Katie: Well, jack won't be the baby for much longer.

Brooke: That's right. You two are expecting a child.

Katie: I'm so happy. I-I know you've had problems with this, but...

Brooke: Well, yes, I was disillusioned with everything that happened, but life does go on, and you two are expecting a baby that deserves all the love and commitment that you can give it.

Nick: And it'll have all the love and commitment we have, just like jack will have. (Cell phone rings)

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: I gotta get this.

Nick: Well, let's get movin'. I want to get these over to my attorney's.

Katie: Okay. I'm gonna grab a glass of water.

Brooke: I'll tell Ridge you're leaving.

Ridge: No, it's okay. I understand. These things happen. We'll reschedule. I'll get back to you.

Brooke: Mm. Mm. Mm.

Ridge: Mm. What's that for?

Brooke: Oh, just for you being you. Thank you for everything. (Sighs) I think all the pieces are falling into place. I don't think Nick is gonna be a problem. I mean, yes, of course, we have to share jack, but he has two children of his own, and you and I can have the future and the life that we've always wanted with our children. And Katie and Nick are expecting a child, so I-I don't know. Everything's gonna be just perfect.

Katie: (Groaning) Ow.

Nick: Katie?

Katie: Ow.

Nick: Katie? Oh, my God.

Katie: Nick.

Brooke: Honey.

Nick: Katie.

Brooke: What it is?

Katie: Oh, it hurts. Oh, God, it hurts.

Nick: Katie, Katie.

Katie: (Groaning)
