Brooke: Are you designing a dress for our wedding or for every time we were ever married?

Ridge: I'm excited, Logan. I'm excited. Dad's recovering, and, you know, you were right. You said he's gonna be at our wedding, and he is. Which one do you like best?

Brooke: Oh, gosh, I don't know. They're--they're all so beautiful. But you know, I'd be happy marrying you in a gunnysack.

Ridge: Good thing for you, I don't want to wear a gunnysack.

Brooke: (Laughs) mmm.

Ridge: Oh, I'm losing track of time here. I've got to get to the house.

Brooke: Oh, okay. Give Eric my love. And I'll see you back here later.

Ridge: Okay, good.

Brooke: Okay? Mmm. Don't forget.

Ridge: I won't forget.

Brooke: I know. (Laughs) (cell phone rings) (rings)

Brooke: You got my call. Hello?

Nick: Hi. You wanted to talk to me about jack.

Brooke: I'll be right over.

Taylor: You seemed to like that the other day. Like it?

Jack: (Coos)

Taylor: (Sighs) I'm pregnant!

Nick: Perfect little boy.

Taylor: Nick, who's egg was it? The baby is from Brooke's egg?

Brooke: Taylor?

Taylor: And I see you, Nick-- everything I love, but I also see Brooke. I can never have a normal moment with my baby like any other mother. I can't have it. I don't--I don't know what's wrong with me. I don't know why I feel like this. I don't--I don't know why-- why am I feeling this way? Why--why am I feeling this way? (Sighs)

Jack: (Cries)

Taylor: Whoop. Come back. (Laughs) where you going? Come here. (Door opens)

Taylor: Here.

Jack: (Cries)

Steffy: (Gasps) Looks like someone's having a good day. Hey.

Taylor: Yeah, I think he wore himself out after last night.

Steffy: Oh, you, too, I bet.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Jack: (Coos)

Taylor: (Laughs)

Steffy: Hey, babies get fussy, Mom.

Taylor: I know.

Jack: (Coos)

Taylor: (Laughs) I think I'm a little bit out of practice.

Steffy: Or maybe Phoebe, Thomas and I were so fussy, you blocked it from your memory. Oh, God, remember how awful we were?

Taylor: No, that is not true. I love all of you. You're the greatest things that have ever happened to me. I love Jack. I-- (sighs)

Jack: (Squeals)

Taylor: I don't know what it is. It's just something is different this time.

Jack: (Coos)

Brooke: What's going on with Jack?

Nick: Jack's fine.

Brooke: Have you seen him?

Nick: I haven't seen him for a few days. I took a little time away on the "Marlin." Why? Are you afraid of what's going on with me and Bridget's gonna affect Jack?

Brooke: With Bridget being gone, there's going to be a big void in his life.

Nick: She's not gone. She's not here, but she's not gone.

Brooke: She's not here taking care of Jack. That means he's going to be spending more time with Taylor.

Nick: Right. Is that gonna be a problem?

Brooke: You don't know. Nobody does, and that's probably how Taylor would like it. Unfortunately, what's going on between you and Bridget is only gonna make matters worse.

Nick: Brooke, what are you talking about?

Brooke: (Sighs) Jack and Taylor... they still haven't been able to bond.

Beth: Thank you, Stephanie. It was really good of you to let me see Eric.

Stephanie: You're welcome. Uh, Beth, I have to confess. You know, your phone call took me off guard, which is--which is why I asked you please not to make the visit about Donna. I hope you kept your word.

Beth: I did. I was just afraid that with everything that's been happening to all of us, that I might not get a chance to see Eric again.

Stephanie: Yes, well, that's what we were all worried about.

Beth: (Scoffs) He's making a remarkable recovery.

Stephanie: It's a miracle. Look, about Donna...

Beth: You know, I think it might be better if you and I didn't discuss my daughter. I--

Stephanie: I-I just don't want you to think that I'm being spiteful where she's concerned.

Beth: No, I-I know that you feel you're doing what's best for Eric, and--

Stephanie: Oh, I absolutely do feel I'm doing what's best for Eric. His recovery is tenuous. But--I mean, you saw that for yourself.

Beth: Yes, and I know, better than most, what it feels like to think that you're losing that which is most precious to you and how desperately one wants to hold on. (Laughs)

Stephanie: How are you doing?

Beth: I'm doing... well, one day at a time. That's what I'm doing. Trying to live every moment to the fullest. I have my good days and my bad days.

Stephanie: This seems to be a good one.

Beth: Yes. Seeing Eric helped. It made me believe that one shouldn't give up on believing in miracles.

Stephanie: (Laughs) I feel that exact same way. Every time I walk in the room and look in his eyes and see all that love, I-I know it's a miracle.

Beth: Well... thank you again, Stephanie. I mean it. And please, uh, tell Eric that he is in our thoughts and our prayers.

Steffy: Every baby's different. Look at Phoebe and me, and we're twins. Did we act the same all the time?

Taylor: (Inhales deeply) No, you didn’t.

Steffy: Don't get down on yourself, okay?

Taylor: Okay. Okay. So says my daughter, the expert.

Steffy: (Sighs) Look... Mom... you've been through some huge challenges with Jack-- him being sick, the mix-up about his conception with Brooke's egg. But he grew inside of you, just like me, Phoebe and Thomas. He knows you're his mom.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Steffy: Does it still bother you... about Brooke?

Taylor: Well, it-- (sighs) it hasn't affected how much I love Jack. I love him so much. I--maybe I love him too much. I don't know. It's just-- (sighs) I want-- I want to see him happy. I want everything to be perfect for him.

Steffy: You're a good mom. Never question that.

Taylor: Hmm. Brooke might.

Steffy: Brooke's in no position to judge.

Taylor: Sweetie, Brooke knows that there's still a problem with Jack and me bonding.

Steffy: How? Rick didn't say anything.

Taylor: No, he didn't need to. She showed up here unannounced, and it was not the best time.

Steffy: Jack was upset?

Taylor: Oh, yeah. Yeah, and I was not in a great mood either. And I know she's going to use this. She--she always does. She'll use it against me. (Sighs)

Steffy: But why would she do that? After everything her family's been through, you'd think she'd want to chill.

Taylor: No. No, she's already convinced Nick to take custody from me once, and I'm not going through that again. I've got to talk to Nick before she does.

Nick: Brooke, what are you saying that Jack and Taylor aren't bonding?

Brooke: There are still some issues.

Nick: Well, he spends half his time with her. If there was a problem, I'd know about it. And when I drop him off, he seems fine to me.

Brooke: He's been crying the last two times I've been over there.

Nick: Well, he cries when he's here, too. Babies do that.

Brooke: Rick said that it's something they've been trying to work through. This is really hard on Taylor, and I'm sure it's hard on Jack, too.

Nick: And Rick talked to you about this?

Brooke: I had to pull it out of him.

Nick: So are you suggesting that they're trying to hide this?

Brooke: You can't blame Taylor for being a little paranoid. She doesn't want us to find out 'cause she's probably afraid of what we might do.

Nick: Well, how bad is it?

Brooke: That's something we have to find out. Rick doesn't want this to stress Taylor any more than she already is, but we need to think about that boy-- that precious little boy.

Nick: He's part of both of us.

Brooke: And if she needs help, she has to get it, no matter how scared she is.

Nick: Well, when did this start happening? I thought she was doing better.

Brooke: Did you mention to her that you and Bridget are planning on having a child?

Nick: I don't know. Bridget might have said something.

Brooke: But now you're having a child with Katie, and your marriage is... well... (sighs)

Nick: Yeah. (Laughs) you know, I really can't help thinking... if we'd stayed together... how things would be different.

Ridge: It's incredible, absolutely incredible.

Stephanie: I think he's even more alert than he was before.

Ridge: It's only a matter of time before he starts demanding a sketchpad.

Stephanie: (Laughs) I think that'll be a while, but you're right.

Ridge: It's all because of you, you know that.

Stephanie: Oh, honey, listen, a few weeks ago, I didn't think there was a chance for this, and I was so worried I wouldn't-- I was--I was so worried I wouldn't be able to set it right with him. And now I can, and I don't want to waste this opportunity. I want to spend the rest of my life with your father. You know, I love him more than anything in the world, honey.

Ridge: Mother, I can't tell you how grateful I am, everything you're doing for Dad.

Stephanie: Well, thanks, honey. I hope you never have to... (inhales deeply) go through another situation like this with your father.

Ridge: Well, every relationship has it challenges, doesn't it?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm. You should know. You and Brooke have survived your share of them.

Ridge: Yeah, we have. I just hope we can, uh, have the kind of commitment that you've shown Dad all these years-- through a lot of rotten times, too.

Stephanie: I have to tell you, I've been rather amazed how well you've handled this whole thing. (Inhales deeply) you know, Nick and Brooke having that baby.

Ridge: Well, that... was a rough patch.

Stephanie: It isn't over either. They're always going to be connected, those two, because of the child.

Ridge: Brooke understands that Taylor is the mother of that child.

Stephanie: Oh? And she doesn't feel connected to the baby or to the father?

Ridge: No, not really.

Stephanie: Hmm. Well, maybe she doesn't talk about it, but...

Ridge: No, we do talk about it. Brooke's not gonna have a part in that child's life, and she's okay with that. In fact, she's pretty much keeping her distance from both of 'em.

Brooke: If we'd stayed together, things would be different. They would be different for Bridget, too, but that's not how things happened.

Nick: No.

Brooke: You moved on with your life, and I committed myself to Ridge.

Nick: I understand you're planning the wedding.

Brooke: Yes, and I was hoping that Bridget and Katie could be there, but I don't think that's going to happen now.

Nick: So is this wedding happening soon?

Brooke: It most certainly is. (Sighs) but that's not what I came here to talk to you about.

Nick: Right.

Brooke: You really need to discuss this with Taylor.

Nick: If there's a problem, I want to know about it.

Brooke: She might deny it. She might make it look like she has everything under control, but don't let her do that. Rick really said that this is a problem, and with her past and her history, it's an enormous red flag. I-I don't know why Jack and Taylor aren't bonding, but if they aren't, we really need to do something about it for Jack's sake and for Taylor's sake.

Taylor: I knew it. I knew you'd run straight over here and start making a lot of trouble for me.

Brooke: Oh, God. Taylor, I'm just concerned.

Nick: So am I. Now I want you to be honest with me about this. Is this true? Are you having trouble feeling close to Jack?

Taylor: No. I-I-I love Jack. He's--he's one of the greatest joys in my life. It-- (sniffles) you know, every moment I have with him is-- is very precious to me.

Nick: Okay... but what I asked you... are you denying that?

Taylor: I'm not saying that every moment is--is perfect. I-I'm just-- I'm doing the best I can. I... I don't know. He's just been having a lot of trouble sleeping, and I-I rock him, I spend time with him, I-I try to comfort him in every way I can, but... I don't know. I've tried driving him around in the car. I drive around the whole neighborhood, and then I come back to the house, and I think he's quiet. I put him in the--the crib, and... every day, I think, you know, this will be the last day of it, and he'll connect with me, but...

Nick: But things haven't gotten better, have they?

Taylor: (Sighs) I-I know what you're thinking. I know what both of you are thinking. I can see it in your eyes. You think I'm failing Jack.

Ridge: I just can't be a part of raising Nick Marone's baby. Brooke knows that.

Stephanie: And she's willing to sacrifice her relationship with that baby for you?

Ridge: She and I have a family now.

Stephanie: I'm glad to hear she has her priorities straight.

Ridge: Yes, she does.

Stephanie: Although, it shouldn't surprise me. I mean, it makes sense now that, uh, Nick and Bridget are married again.

Ridge: No, Brooke's commitment is to me. It has nothing to do with Nick being married to Bridget.

Stephanie: Yeah, but it eases your mind, doesn't it, knowing that he's out of the picture?

Ridge: Look, Brooke's and my history together is longer and more powerful than anything she would ever share with Nick Marone.

Nick: Taylor, no one is questioning your love for your son.

Taylor: No, just my ability to take care of him.

Nick: Well, we know it hasn't been easy. It's been difficult from the moment you found out Brooke was the biological mother.

Taylor: I am his mother.

Brooke: I should go. You need to focus on Jack, and you can't do that with me here.

Taylor: That's right, Brooke, because the damage is done, right?

Brooke: (Sighs) I'm not the one who should have told Nick about these problems. He should have heard them from you.

Nick: We're Jack's parents. We need to work on this together.

Taylor: I didn't want to be judged.

Nick: I-I'm not judging you.

Taylor: No, you are. You both are. I can feel it. I-I can see it both of your faces, and see, that's exactly what I don't need. I don't need more stress. I don't need more anxiety.

Brooke: Well, maybe that's what Jack is picking up on. Babies sense things.

Taylor: No, he knows how much I love him.

Nick: And so do we. We know that you love him. We're trying to figure this out the same as you are, Taylor.

Taylor: Do you know what it's like for me to live every single day with-- with a pendulum hanging over my head, like the next day, somebody's going to come along and find a reason to take jack away from me? When I lost custody of Jack, that was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It was worse than when I found out Brooke was the egg donor. After everything I had already lost to you, Brooke-- my marriage to Ridge, my self-esteem, my self-confidence, and then I have a marriage with--with Nick, and I finally have a chance to start my life over, and then I-I have jack as my child-- as the one thing, I think, should be the happiest part of my life, and I find out you have a claim to him, too.

Brooke: Wait a minute. You're saying you can't bond with Jack because of me?

Taylor: No. Whatever I feel for you has nothing to do with how much I love my son-- nothing whatsoever.

Nick: Well, see, that's a good thing. Okay, now we can work on the rest of this.

Brooke: Yes, you just need to be honest about what's going on.

Nick: Please, you-- you can't be afraid to be honest with me, Taylor.

Taylor: I am afraid! When I was driving over here, all I could think of was what was being said about me. And see, I was right.

Brooke: Taylor, I am not a threat to you. I'm concerned about what's going on, both with you and little jack. That's all. And I can only imagine how difficult this is for you.

Taylor: No. No, you can't.

Nick: We know what a tough time you've been having.

Taylor: Yeah. Yeah, I am having a hard-- a tough time. I am... because I have to come over here and defend myself.

Nick: You don't have to defend yourself. We're not fighting you on this. We're all on the same page.

Taylor: Are we?

Brooke: Yes, we are. We all want Jack to grow up as healthy and happy as he can be, and I'm sure that that's what you want, too. You're just having a hard time doing that by yourself, and you shouldn't be afraid to admit it. Taylor, we all love Jack, and we want what's best for him, and that's really what's important, isn't it? That precious little boy. Look, I don't know what it is that you're going through, but you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help, 'cause we're here for you. We want to help you. We want to support you, so let us help you. Let me help you.
