Woman: (Sighs) Has there been any change?

Ridge: No. Dad's still in a coma.

Woman: Oh, Ridge. I'm so sorry. What can I do to help?

Ridge: Those papers you drew up transferring ownership of the company-- Dad got sick before he could sign them.

Woman: But you said he agreed to sign them.

Ridge: He did, but his new wife Donna wants to block the transfer. She says she has power of attorney.

Woman: (Sighs) Yeah, your father made some changes after he got married.

Ridge: Why? Everything was fine the way it was.

Woman: Ridge, it wasn't my idea. Your father's very much in love with his new wife. He trusts her, which is why he gave her full power of attorney.

Ridge: What the hell can I do about this then?

Woman: Hope and pray your father makes it through this crisis.

Donna: Needless to say, Ridge was surprised.

Owen: Oh, I can imagine. So much for his plans to take over the company.

Donna: Yeah. Well, you know, he already has control. He's president. It's not like I'm gonna step on his toes.

Owen: Yeah, but you're not about to hand over ownership to him either.

Donna: No. I-I can't do that. I mean, that would be a betrayal of my husband. You know, I-I just want to go to the hospital. I just want to be with him every hour until he wakes up.

Owen: Look, I'm sure that if anything changes, they'll call you. Hey. It's gonna be all right. The little I know about Eric Forrester is that he's a fighter, and he loves you, and he's got every reason in the world to live.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, of course, you're right. You're right. (Sighs) God, you have been such a Godsend. I-I think about the day when you walked through my office when I needed someone to depend on, someone to trust, and you have been there for me every time. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without you.

Donna: Owen, what--what's wrong? What's bothering you?

Ridge: How was your visit with Dad?

Brooke: I swear he knows we're there for him. I mean, he is in a coma, but he's not unaware.

Ridge: I felt the same way when I was there earlier. (Sighs)

Brooke: I heard that Donna was there at the same time.

Ridge: Yeah. (Sighs) she's devastated like the rest of us. What?

Brooke: I'm touched that you realize that.

Ridge: I'm sure in her own way she loves Dad.

Brooke: Thank you.

Ridge: Not that I don't have other issues with your sister.

Brooke: Oh, of course you do. I mean, even I have issues with her, but at least this means maybe there's a chance at some kind of healing.

Ridge: Yeah, well, don't hold your breath on that one. She is trying to block us from taking over the company.

Brooke: How?

Ridge: (Sighs) Unfortunately, Donna got power of attorney from Dad.

Brooke: What? Eric agreed to turn over the company to us.

Ridge: Yeah, then. But when he's with her, he changes his mind. At least, that's her story.

Brooke: Do you believe her?

Ridge: Logan, I don't know what to believe now. I look around here at this company that Dad and Mother built, and it's faltering. We're in a downward spiral right now, Brooke. And I know that once a fashion house gets to a certain point, it's damn hard to save it. (Sighs) one other thing that's really frustrating-- I know that you and I could turn this around. (Snaps finger) I'm certain of that.

Brooke: I'll have to talk to her.

Ridge: You think you can make her realize what's goin' on here?

Brooke: Well, I'm gonna have to try.

Ridge: Get her to realize that this is not a power play. What we're doin' here is best for the company, is best for her and Dad. It's best for my family and your family, too. Do you think you can get her to see that?

Donna: Owen, what is it?

Owen: It's, uh... nothing.

Donna: You don't deal well with compliments. Well, isn't that modest of you?

Owen: Donna, I think that maybe I should tell--

Brooke: I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were in here with somebody.

Donna: Oh, you two have not been formally introduced. Owen, this is my sister Brooke. Brooke, Owen is my new assistant.

Owen: Yes. We met briefly at the pool party.

Brooke: Right. Good to see you again.

Owen: Good to see you.

Brooke: Donna says so many wonderful things about you.

Owen: Well, I'm gonna leave the two of you alone so you can have some privacy.

Brooke: Bye.

Owen: Bye.

Brooke: (Sighs) How are you holding up?

Donna: Barely.

Brooke: (Sighs) Eric's gonna be fine. You just have to hold on to that thought.

Donna: I'll try.

Brooke: It's hard, I know, but you don't have to feel alone. There is help.

(Elevator bell dings)

Owen: Felicia.

Felicia: Yes, Owen?

Owen: I'm sorry about your father.

Felicia: Yeah? How sorry are you? My father never had a heart problem till he married Donna.

Owen: You can't blame Donna for that.

Felicia: No, I'm just stating a fact. My father was in very good health until that marriage happened. I'm just sorry that I didn't meet somebody to break 'em up before he landed in the hospital. Obviously, you weren't the right candidate.

Owen: Come on. You think it was easy for me to turn down the $200 grand that you were offering? That would have set me up perfectly. But I couldn't do it, Felicia. There's no way that Donna was just gonna fall into bed with me, not the way that she feels about your father.

Felicia: Yeah, we'll see about that. I'm not through with her.

Donna: Now I need to get back to the hospital.

Brooke: (Sighs) I need to talk to you first.

Donna: About what? Brooke, I do not want to talk about the ownership issue.

Brooke: Donna, we need to discuss it. It's what Eric wanted.

Donna: But he changed his mind.

Brooke: Donna.

Donna: He did, Brooke, I promise. Look, we talked right after he met with Ridge.

Brooke: And you convinced him not to do it.

Donna: I didn't have to convince him of anything. He was beat up after his trip to New York. He was vulnerable to Ridge, but--but then I got him alone, and everything changed. My God, Brooke. You should have seen him. He was--he was like his old self again. He was excited. He was--he was charged up, and he realized that he made a mistake with Ridge. He wants to run the company. Look, if he wakes up from this coma and--and the company isn't his, it'll be devastating.

Brooke: Donna, you act like he's gonna wake up and be able to go right back to work. He needs time to recuperate. He's lying in a hospital in a coma. I mean, how--how do you know he's gonna be able to function when he gets back to work? Look, I'm sorry. I know this is horrible. It's a nightmare, but Forrester needs to survive, and under Eric's leadership right now, it's not doing that.

Donna: All I can think about is what he means to me and how much he has done for me. I need to do right by him, Brooke. He is counting on me to do the right thing. I can't let him down, Brooke. I won't let him down. Tell me you understand that.

Ridge: I will. You hang in there, Mother. All right, love you.

Felicia: Hey. Any word from the hospital?

Ridge: Oh, no change. (Sighs) Mother's over there right now.

Felicia: Oh. That poor woman. This has gotta be killing her.

Ridge: It is.

Felicia: So did you tell her yet that you and Brooke will be taking over the company?

Ridge: No. The timing isn't quite right. Besides, it may not even happen.

Felicia: Why not?

Ridge: Because Donna's trying to block us. Dad gave her his power of attorney.

Felicia: What?

Brooke: Honey, I do understand. You want to do what's best for Eric, but you need to think about something. Having power of attorney means that you make the decisions that Eric would want you to make. And he wanted Ridge and I to take over ownership of the company if he couldn't run it anymore.

Donna: But he can. I mean, once he gets all better.

Brooke: And once he gets better, he will always have a position at Forrester, that is if there still is a Forrester Creations. Ridge and I need to make sure that this company stays strong and viable, and right now, is just isn't.

Donna: And, what, your brilliant fiancé can change all that?

Brooke: Yes, I do, because he is brilliant, and the whole fashion industry knows that, and they also know that the leadership is lying in a hospital bed somewhere in a coma. And they're wondering if they should continue buying and selling our products. Look, I know that you haven't always gotten along with Ridge, and he hasn't always been fair, but just earlier, he said that he realized he much you loved Eric.

Donna: He said that?

Brooke: In so many words.

Donna: (Scoffs) Yeah, he's probably just trying to soften me up.

Brooke: No. No, he meant it. If anything good comes out of this tragedy, it's that Eric's children are seeing you in a different way.

Donna: I just don't know if I can trust them.

Brooke: Honey, you can. They're not out to hurt you, not anymore. And you'll always have a place here, Donna. Their main concern right now is their father and his legacy. So you have to allow them to protect it for you and for Eric.

Brooke: Please. Please, use your power of attorney to allow Ridge to transfer over the ownership and allow Eric to recuperate, get better. You should do this for him as much as for anybody.

Donna: All right. I will take the leap of faith, and then I can focus on Eric completely.

Brooke: (Sighs) Thank you. Thank you, really. You're doing the right thing.

Donna: I hope so.

(Door closes)

Ridge: How did it go?

Brooke: Donna agreed to sign the papers.

Ridge: Giving us ownership?

Brooke: Yes. (Chuckles)

Ridge: Sweetheart, that's incredible. You are incredible. You are a miracle worker.

Brooke: All I did was tell her the truth, that this is what Eric would want.

Ridge: (Sighs) We're gonna make him so proud. He's gonna wake up from that coma and come back to a company that is stronger than ever. (Sighs)

Brooke: (Giggles)

Donna: I made a decision. I am going to allow the transfer of ownership to Ridge and Brooke.

Owen: Really?

Donna: Ridge is his son. His children love him. They'll be able to take care of the business needs. And, you know, I-I think we all learned something the last few days.

Owen: What's that?

Donna: Well, I for one learned that my mistrust towards Ridge and the others is--has been a little paranoid on my part.

Owen: Are you sure about that?

Donna: That--yeah, I'm sure.

Donna: Owen, do you know something?

Owen: Yes, I do.

Donna: What?

Owen: (Sighs) There's something that I need to tell you. It's not gonna be easy, but I think you need to know the truth, even if it means that you throw me outta here and I never see you again.

Donna: I'm listening.

Owen: The day that I came here, when you hired me, it was because of a conversation that I had with Felicia.

Donna: A conversation with Felicia?

Owen: She made me an offer, one, at the time, I felt I couldn't refuse. But that's not the original reason I came to L.A. I came here to check up on Marcus and to collect my payment for reconnecting the two of you.

Donna: What did Felicia offer you?

Owen: A lot of money.

Donna: To do what?

Owen: To break up your marriage.

Donna: And how were you gonna do that?

Owen: By getting close to you and seducing you and getting proof of it, like pictures of the two of us in a compromising position.

Donna: (Sighs)

Donna: I trusted you.

Owen: I know. I know. I was wrong, and I found that out very early on that you love your husband, and you would never stray.

Donna: So this-- this is all fake, a lie?

Owen: At first, but it changed.

Donna: No, I thought I could count on you.

Owen: You can count on me. That's why I'm telling you this. Look, you've gotta be careful, all right? You are in a very dangerous position.

Donna: Yeah, and you-- you put me there.

Owen: No. No. I told Felicia that I couldn't do it. I backed out of our deal.

Donna: Oh, oh, really, really? And I should believe you now?

Owen: No, I don't care what you believe. I just care about that you protect yourself. If you sign that document giving them ownership, you are no longer in power. They could do whatever they want with the company. They could--they could kick you out if they want to. You know what? They will kick you out. I ran into Felicia earlier, and her attitude towards you had not changed one bit. She's determined to get you out of her father's life, and she's gonna do whatever it takes to make it happen. They are not to be trusted, Donna. If you do, you will regret it. Even Eric knew not to trust them completely. That's why he gave you power of attorney and not one of them. He knew that if he was gone, they would get rid of you. Don't give them this power. If you sign that document, they will get rid of you. They will.

Ridge: So Donna-- she's willing to sign these papers today?

Brooke: Yes. She's convinced that you mean her no harm and that you're only looking out for Eric's interests. She trusts you, you and your family.

Ridge: Oh, Logan.

Brooke: (Giggles)

Ridge: Oh, man. How can I ever repay you?

Brooke: Oh, well, I could think of one way, two ways, actually, three ways that you could repay me.

Ridge: Mm.

Brooke: Mm.

Owen: I'm sorry, Donna. Think what you want about me, but Ridge, Felicia and Thorne are out to destroy you, and that is the truth.

Donna: Whoa. Wh--where are you going?

Owen: Going to get my things and clean out my desk, save you the hassle from having to fire me.

Donna: Wait, wait. Wait, just wait. At least you--you told me the truth now. You--you may be the only person I can trust. I-I want you on my team. I need you on my team.

Owen: But you still believe me after everything I just told you?

Donna: I hope I'm not being foolish.

Owen: You're not. Donna, I promise you right here and right now that I will never betray your trust ever again. Look, when Felicia made me that offer, she portrayed you as a superficial gold digger who was using her father and out to destroy a family. That's not who you are. You're as good as they come, and I want to be there for you, help make sure that nobody takes advantage of you. During this emotional and incredibly difficult time in your life, I want you to know that you're not alone. I'm here for you for whatever it is whenever. I'm your man.

Donna: Brooke will be mad, Ridge--furious-- but I know what I have to do.
