(Voices speaking indistinctly)
Donna: Um, everybody, uh, could I have your attention, please? I just want to say something for a second, and I want to welcome you all here today, on this gorgeous day, as we celebrate the wedding tomorrow of Eric's lovely daughter Bridget and Nick Marone.
Nick: The very grateful and fortunate Nick Marone.
(Laughter)
Donna: Well, I stand corrected. You know, our family has been through some hard times lately, and suddenly, we're seeing all these blessings. It truly is a homecoming. My mom's back, Eric's granddaughters... (sighs) Phoebe and Steffy, and my dear son Marcus, who I never thought I'd see again. And many of you have already met him, and you know what a wonderful gentleman he is, but what you don't know is that today is a very special day for the two of us. It's his birthday...
Eric: (Chuckles)
Donna: The first one that we've shared since he was born.
(Voices murmuring indistinctly)
Donna: (Laughs)
Eric: Happy birthday.
Donna: (Sobs) I just--I feel so honored to, uh, be in this house with so much family history. And, Thorne and Ridge, I'd like to give you a special thanks for putting our differences aside and coming here together as one, as a--as a family.
Eric: (Whispering) Way to suck up.
Donna: (Chuckles)
(Voices speaking indistinctly)
Stephanie: (Sighs)
(Door closes)
Felicia: Mother? Mom, are you home? Mother?
Stephanie: Hi, honey. I wasn't expecting you. Why aren't you at the engagement party?
Felicia: Well, I was just-- what are--why are you in bed? It's the middle of the afternoon. You're hiding from everybody. What are--
Stephanie: No, I'm not. I'm not hiding from anybody.
Felicia: Then what do you call it? Are you ill?
Stephanie: No, I'm fine. Listen. If I decide to take to my bed with a case of the vapors in the middle of the afternoon, I think I'm entitled to do that, miss.
(Indistinct conversations)
Owen: So here they are-- the rich and the famous in their natural habitat. Sweet.
Eric: Um, everybody, uh, can I get your attention for a second? The father of the bride would like to say something. And thank you.
(Laughter)
Eric: This party today is to celebrate this wonderful couple getting married tomorrow. The only thing a father can really ask for his children is that, uh, they find happiness with someone they can love with all their heart and all their soul, and I think that, uh, I think Bridget has found that in Nick, and I think Nick's found that in Bridget, which makes her a very lucky woman. And it makes Nick a very lucky man, indeed.
Nick: Don't I know it.
Eric: (Laughs) So congratulations, you two. May you have a lifetime of love and happiness together. Cheers.
Jackie: Cheers.
All: Cheers.
Thorne: Yeah.
Bridget: Why, thank you, Dad.
Eric: (Chuckles) You're welcome. Mm. Sweetheart.
Bridget: And we're gonna be very, very happy.
Ridge: That goes for me, too, kiddo.
Bridget: Thank you. And we're gonna be very, very happy, I promise you. Mm.
Ridge: Congratulations, Marone.
Bridget: Oh, thank you for behaving yourself. (Laughs)
Nick: You're welcome. You're welcome.
Bridget: I can't believe we're getting married tomorrow.
Nick: I can't wait. All right, I think I'm ready.
(Voices speaking indistinctly)
Eric: Beth, I can't believe I'm seeing you.
Beth: (Sighs) hello. (Sighs)
Eric: Well, you found a shady place to sit, I see.
Beth: Yes, I'd forgotten how intense the sun can be here.
Eric: And that's because you visit us so seldom.
Beth: (Sighs)
Eric: Although you have very good reasons, so I'm told.
Beth: Yes.
Eric: Look, if there's anything, anything I can do...
Beth: You've done it already, by making Donna so happy. Oh. Who would have thought? I-- seriously, Eric, thank you for being so wonderful to her.
Eric: Sure.
Stephanie: Honey, thank you very much. I can't eat--I just-- I can't eat anything else, okay?
Felicia: Mother, there's barely anything in your fridge.
Stephanie: Yeah?
Felicia: When is the last time you went shopping?
Stephanie: Sweetheart, I don't shop because I don't cook for myself. I do takeout.
Felicia: You don't look so well. Are you eating?
Stephanie: Why all of these questions?
Felicia: (Sighs) Loss of appetite, sleeping too much, avoiding the outside world...
Stephanie: Oh, my God.
Felicia: I know what depression looks like, Mom.
Stephanie: I know what depression looks like, too. I'm fine. I do have my good days and my bad days.
Felicia: So this just isn't a good one.
Stephanie: Felicia, my whole life has been turned upside down, okay? So just... (sighs) ease up with me, please, and allow me to have some time to accept all of this and to adapt. I'm going to accept it. Believe me, I know--I have to.
(Voices speaking indistinctly)
Stephen: So when Donna told us, I said, you mean I have an instant grandson? I can't wait to meet him.
(Laughter)
Donna: His very words.
Marcus: You know, I can tell it's gonna be real cool having you guys as my grandparents.
Stephen: Good.
Beth: Well, I think so.
Marcus: (Laughs)
Donna: (Laughs)
Brooke: Aw. How cute. (Giggles)
Katie: (Laughs)
Eric: (Speaking indistinctly)
(Voices speaking indistinctly)
Pam: (Speaks indistinctly)
Bridget: Thank you. And you should come by the hospital sometime.
Donna: Pammy... (laughs) what are you doing here?
Pam: I could ask the same about you, couldn't I?
Donna: (Chuckles) You weren't invited.
Pam: This is my family-- my nieces, my nephews.
Donna: Look, I know you hate the fact that I've stepped into Stephanie's shoes, but there's--
Pam: No. No one could step into Stephanie's shoes. Certainly not you, little hot tamale.
Eric: All right, Pam, that's enough. I'm gonna have to ask you to stop. Stop it.
Pam: Eric--
Eric: Look, this party is for Bridget and Nick. I won't have it interrupted.
Pam: But--
Eric: I'm gonna ask you to leave.
Pam: You what?
Eric: I'm sorry.
Nick: We--we couldn't talk about this downstairs?
Brooke: (Sighs) no. No, not this.
Nick: Well, that doesn't sound good.
Brooke: I just want to make sure that you're completely committed to this marriage-- no hesitations, no second thoughts.
Nick: No, none.
Brooke: What about Katie? I mean, you can't deny that you have feelings for her.
Nick: (Sighs) Okay. What we went through, Brooke, was remarkable and incredibly unique, and I will always treasure that time with her. And Bridget's okay with that, and I love her for it. Don't worry that pretty, little head of yours, all right? I'm completely committed to this marriage. I have no qualms about it, and I don't want you to, either.
Brooke: All right.
Nick: Hmm? Okay?
Brooke: I won't.
Nick: Okay.
Brooke: And thank you. Thank you for your honesty. And thank you for putting such a big smile on my daughter's face.
Nick: Hmm.
Brooke: (Laughs)
Stephanie: Sweetheart, go back home, please, and join everybody at the engagement party and give Bridget my love. Will you do that for me, please?
Felicia: (Sighs) Mom, I really don't want to leave you out here all alone.
Stephanie: (Sighs) Sometimes you just have to go through things all by yourself, and you need a little solitude sometimes. That's what I need, okay? But I love you for caring.
Felicia: (Voice breaks) I love you.
Stephanie: I know.
Felicia: (Sobs)
(Indistinct conversations)
Rick: (Sighs)
Rick: Hey, Donna. Think fast!
Donna: (Squeals) Jeez! (Gasps)
Owen: (Laughs)
Donna: Owen, what-- what are you doing here? What--
Owen: Well, I was just looking for Marcus, and I heard that he was here, but I see you've got company, so I'm just gonna come back, all right?
Donna: Oh, no, no, no. Don't--don't go. You're the reason he's here with us. Oh, come on. It's family. It's-- it's my niece's engagement, and I-I want to introduce you to everyone. Come on. (Giggles) Um, everyone, I'm--I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, but I just wanted to make another little announcement. Um, this is Owen Knight. He is the person responsible for reuniting me and my son.
Man: Hello.
Donna: Marcus, do you think you can get him a swimsuit? There should be an extra in the pool house.
Marcus: Yeah. Sure.
Donna: Oh, come on. Please, please stay.
Owen: I don't want to impose.
Donna: Please? No. We owe you so much. Please stay with us. And I haven't introduced you to my husband. Come on.
Eric: What is this?
Donna: Come here.
Owen: Hello, Eric Forrester. It's a pleasure to meet you. I've heard a lot about you.
Eric: Thank you, Owen. Well, I understand we owe you a great debt of gratitude for bringing Donna's son home to us. Thank you.
Owen: It was an honor. So I read that you're a big fan of gin martinis. This one's supposed to be very special.
Eric: Well, thank you. That's--that's very kind. Thank you. (Chuckles)
( Soft music playing )
Felicia: We need to talk about mother.
Eric: What, now? Here? There's a party going on.
Felicia: I was just at the beach house. She's in bed under the covers in the middle of the day.
Eric: That doesn't sound like her. Is she sick?
Felicia: Physically, no. But she wants to be alone in her room in the middle of the day. Dad, come on. I think she feels like she has no value, no use. Like you've traded her in for a younger model.
Eric: I had no idea she felt like that.
Felicia: Well, wake up. She... she can usually handle anything, okay? But right now, with this, I'm just not so sure.
Eric: Okay. Okay.
Woman: An appetizer, Mrs. Forrester?
Donna: Uh, you're-- you're supposed to be passing out shrimp and mango salsa. W-what are these?
Woman: Miniature hot tamales. Your assistant Pam called and changed the order. She also sent over this note.
Donna: "You are what you eat." Eric, I-I can't-- I can't take this anymore.
Eric: What? What--what is it? What's going on?
Donna: Our--our so-called assistant Pam, she just--she-- she called the caterers behind my back, and--and ordered hot tamales just to spite me. Look, this isn't funny, Felicia, okay? The--the woman shows me zero respect. I want her gone. I mean, you have told her to stop this nonsense how many times? And she just blows you off, Eric. Aren't you sick of it?
Eric: All right, Donna, I'll talk to her, all right? I'll talk to her again, and I'll tell her that this kind of interference isn't acceptable. I'll talk to her.
Donna: Okay, fine. If you don't want to get rid of her, I guess I'm just forced to hire my own personal assistant, and you can have Pammy all to yourself. (Giggles)
Eric: Okay.
Donna: Okay?
Eric: All right.
Donna: Good.
Brooke: Everybody, could I say a few words please? I just want to say that ever since Bridget was little, she was always a person that you could count on. She was always loving and honest, loyal, compassionate. But perhaps her greatest gift of all is her ability to forgive. You are truly my beloved daughter, and you are such a remarkable person. It just fills my heart to know that you two have a second chance together. (Sighs) and I wish you a lifetime of happiness. God bless you both.
Bridget: Mom.
Brooke: (Laughs)
Bridget: (Laughs)
Brooke: Baby, I love you.
Bridget: I love you.
Brooke: I love you, too.
Bridget: Thank you. Thank you all, actually, for coming, and I guess it's my turn to say something. Um, well, I'm pretty sure everyone knows that this isn't the first time around for Nick and me, although it feels like the first time because I was just younger then and didn't know that much about life. What I knew was that I loved you. I adored you, and that's the part that hasn't changed. What has changed, though, is that, um, I'm a little older, hopefully, a little wiser, and I've learned that, um, that true love, true, true love doesn't limit us. It only opens up our heart and allows the people that we love to come inside and--and live with us. That's what I-I want to give you and your darling son. I-I want you to know that my heart is always gonna be open to both of you. You've made me the happiest, happiest, happiest-- mm-- woman in the world. My God, I'm so lucky! I feel so loved with all of you here.
Nick: Well, that's a tough act to follow. Thank you. Thank you, both, very much. Um, well, I guess a lot of you know our history, so I guess I'll talk about our future. And I predict an amazing voyage, and I will do my best to make sure that it's smooth sailing. Because I, sailor that I am, have the most amazing compass in the world, and that's this beautiful woman standing right in front of me. (Sighs) I love you so much. And everybody's got to say it today, so now I get a chance to say it. I am a very lucky man. Thank you.
Woman: Whoo!
Katie: All right, I want to say something.
Nick: (Groans)
Katie: I'm-- I'm maid of honor, so I have to say something. Um... (laughs) when--when Bridget asked me to be maid of honor, I was thrilled, because, uh, this has given me the opportunity to give something back to you, and you have given me so much. You brought me into your home when I really wasn't willing to accept help from anyone. And you--oh, I don't know, brought me back from the brink of death... (laughs) literally. And, um, I think, most importantly, um, you and Nick gave me the will to live, and that's the most remarkable gift I've ever received. And now it's time for the two of you to devote yourselves to each other. And I can't think of two people who deserve a lifetime of happiness more than you two do. So, everyone, please join me in wishing the best future for Mr. and Mrs. Nick Marone.
Beth: Here, here.
Woman: Here, here!
Beth: (Laughs)
