Brooke: Come on, Donna. You're holding everyone up.

Eric: Are you gonna at least give us a hint or something?

Bridget: No. Not until everyone is down here.

Eric: Oh, come on.

Donna: Okay, okay. Jeez. What is all the excitement?

Eric: Well, Bridget wants to tell us something. She's not gonna say anything till you're down here.

Donna: Okay. I'm here. I'm here.

Eric: Okay. (Chuckles)

Bridget: Okay. Good. You're all present. Do you wanna take this sitting down or standing up?

Eric: Should we be seated?

Bridget: Well, I--I'm-- I don't know. It just depends on how shocked you're gonna be to find out that your daughter's engaged. (Giggles)

Brooke: Ohh! You are?

Bridget: Nick and I are getting married.

Eric: (Chuckles)

Donna: (Giggles) Honey. Ohh.

Taylor: Mm. Mm. Ohh.

Rick: Mmm. (Chuckles)

Taylor: Wow. (Giggles) Whew. Mm.

Rick: Oh, my beautiful, beautiful fiancée.

Taylor: I love you so much.

Rick: I love you, too.

Taylor: I wish everyone could be this happy.

Rick: Well, I do know one person that is. At least she says she is.

Taylor: You're talking about your sister?

Rick: I am, yeah. I have to admit, I was really surprised when she called.

Taylor: Yeah, I was kind of surprised, too. Her and, uh, Nick again.

Rick: You okay with that?

Taylor: I don't have a problem with it. No, I think Nick should move on. I obviously have.

Rick: Obviously.

Jackie: Hi. Has the wedding date been set?

Katie: Yes. We decided on the day after tomorrow. I've got a million things to do.

Jackie: Whoa. Well, I'll bet. What you're doing, Katie-- it's really quite something, you know?

Katie: No, it's nothing. I'm just helping two incredible people have the wedding they deserve.

Jackie: Under the circumstances--

Katie: What circumstances?

Jackie: Your recent illness?

Katie: I'm fine. I am completely fine. And I have to be because I am maid of honor. I just want this wedding to be perfect.

Brooke: Oh, honey, it is so stunning.

Bridget: Thank you.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Bridget: I'm just so happy.

Brooke: (Laughs)

Eric: (Laughs) Ah, look at you, and it makes us happy for you. I can see it's what you really want.

Bridget: And I was so surprised when Nick just sprung it on me last night.

Donna: Well, why? Why were you surprised? I--

Bridget: Well, I thought it was headed in that direction, but with Katie's illness, it just--the timing didn't...

Eric: (Sighs)

Bridget: Seem quite right. Oh, I know that face. I know you're thinking that we've done this before, we've been there, and it didn't work out, but things change. People grow. And we've learned that we just cannot stand to be apart from each other. It's gonna work this time, dad. I'm certain.

Eric: Yeah? All right. As your father, that's what I want to hear. I'm sure it will work this time. And I think I speak for everyone in the room when I say how happy we are for you. We're thrilled.

Bridget: (Giggles)

Eric: Good girl. (Chuckles)

Brooke: (Sighs) I've never seen Bridget so excited. You're worried about Katie.

Donna: Aren't you?

Brooke: Well, I know that she has deep feelings for Nick.

Donna: Oh, come on. Brooke, she's-- she's desperately in love with the man.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Donna: We saw it happening when she-- well, when we thought she was dying. But she pulled through somehow, but now she is--

Brooke: No, I know. I know. She's gonna have some tough times ahead of her. But she's gonna get through this.

Donna: Are you sure about that, because I'm not.

Brooke: Yes, I am sure. Katie is strong, maybe stronger than any of us. She can handle this.

Donna: I hope you're right. But I-I just keep thinking about what they went through together. Katie was dying, and Nick was there, holding her hand, giving--giving her the only thing he could-- his love, his support, on her deathbed. I mean, you don't forget something like that, Brooke. Neither of them will.

Brooke: That is no basis for a relationship.

Donna: Really? Life and death? I--it could be the best basis for a relationship.

Brooke: Nick and Bridget are more suited, and he's with her right now, and he loves her. I know he does.

Donna: I know. I know. You're her mother. You are going to support her. I get that. I don't mean to be negative, I don't. But I'm just worried about her, Brooke. I mean, after everything she's been through, she deserves to be happy.

Brooke: And she will, but not with Nick. He's committed to Bridget.

Jackie: The wedding will be perfect, Katie. (Sighs) it--it's just that I'm wondering whether or not you should really be taking on all these preparations.

Katie: (Sighs) I keep telling everyone, I feel better and better every day.

Jackie: Well, your physical condition is only actually part of my concern.

Katie: (Sighs) I would think that you would be thrilled that your son has decided to spend his life with someone as wonderful as Bridget.

Jackie: I adore Bridget. But that's not the point.

Katie: Yes. That's the only point-- making sure that this day is everything that Nick and Bridget want it to be. That's all that matters. At least, that's all that matters to me.

Jackie: Is it truly all that matters to you?

Katie: Yes. I--why else would I be going through all this effort?

Jackie: That's a good question, and you're an intelligent woman. Have it you thought about it?

Katie: I don't have to think about it. I already know the answer. I'm doing this because I want to. After everything that those two have done for me, the least I can do is make sure that this is the most special day of their lives. And it's going to be because I won't allow it to be anything else.

Eric: My little girl.

Bridget: I'm not so little anymore, dad. (Laughs)

Eric: I know. I know. I get that. But you'll always be my little girl, you know? Okay, now we have to get you in for some measurements.

Bridget: Measurements?

Eric: Yes, uh, for--for your wedding dress. Absolutely. I have to design it. We have to, uh, I have to pattern it. I have to cut it tomorrow.

Bridget: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, dad, no...

Eric: (Clears throat)

Bridget: We don't have time for all that. It's okay.

Eric: Yeah, well, we're gonna make time for that. No daughter of mine gets married in anything less than a Forrester original. I need you in the shop in an hour, all right?

Bridget: Yeah, well, just keep it simple, elegant, simple and--

Eric: Who are you talking to?

Bridget: You're right. I know. I'm sorry.

Eric: Oh, and tomorrow we'll have a big pool party here...

Bridget: Really?

Eric: Everyone here to celebrate your engagement to Nick. I promise.

Bridget: I must have done one heck of a job in my past life to deserve such a great dad.

Eric: Actually, you did, but it's your future with Nick that we're gonna concentrate on now.

Bridget: I'm so excited to get it started.

Eric: We'll give it a big kickoff tomorrow, okay?

Bridget: I love you.

Eric: (Exhales deeply) I love you. My beautiful daughter's getting married. I'm not gonna cry this time. All right. All right. Be sure she's at the shop in less than an hour.

Brooke: Oh, yes, sir.

Eric: Okay.

Brooke: Will do. (Laughs) wow, he seems excited.

Bridget: (Giggles)

Brooke: Okay, now we have to discuss your wedding plans.

Bridget: Oh, um, no, they're--they're all taken care of.

Brooke: What?

Bridget: Katie-- she's planning the whole thing.

Katie: Um, I want all of the men in tuxes. And the women, uh, let me get back to you on that, okay? Thank you. Bye. Hi.

Donna: How you doing?

Katie: Good. Great. Uh, did you hear the big news?

Donna: About the wedding-- yeah, yeah.

Katie: I am planning the whole thing. It's gonna be perfect.

Donna: Really?

Katie: Yeah. From the toast to the wedding march to the reception, everything. It's all my production. It's my gift to the bride and groom.

Donna: Okay, okay. Are you--you're all right with that?

Katie: Did Bridget tell you I'm gonna be maid of honor?

Donna: Katie, you can't be the maid of honor.

Katie: Why not?

Donna: Because you're in love with Nick.

Katie: (Sighs) Ouch! Ow! Oops!

Taylor: Mmm. You realize you don't have to pamper me this much?

Rick: Oh, it's part of the job description-- spoil your lady until she can't take it anymore.

Taylor: (Laughs) That'll never happen.

Rick: I hope not because you are the most important thing in my life.

Taylor: You know, that is the one thing every woman wants to hear her man say.

Rick: And what's that? Complete and total admiration and devotion? (Laughs)

Taylor: I wasn't gonna put it exactly that way, but now that you have.

Rick: Well, does it-- does it bother you that I can't get enough of you?

Brooke: Katie's planning your wedding?

Bridget: I mean, she insisted, down to every last detail.

Brooke: I see.

Bridget: I know this would normally be your job. I-I just didn't know exactly what to do. She's been so emotional. I felt like I couldn't say no. I--

Brooke: No, no, that's all right. This must be very important for her.

Bridget: I think she just feels indebted to Nick and me.

Brooke: Well, honey, she wouldn't be around if it weren't for the both of you, especially you.

Bridget: I actually think it's really sweet.

Brooke: It's actually kind of heartbreaking.

Bridget: Well, I know. (Sighs heavily) I tried to talk to her about this.

Brooke: You did?

Bridget: Yeah. When I told her that I was engaged, I was enthusiastic, but cautious 'cause I know it must be difficult for her.

Brooke: So you really believe that her feelings for Nick run deep?

Bridget: Well, yeah. I-I think they run very deep.

Brooke: How do you feel about that? You comfortable with that?

Bridget: Well, I wouldn't be if she had given me any indication that it was painful for her. But, Mom, it's been just the opposite. She's kind of one of the main reasons that Nick and I are getting married. She keeps pushing us together.

Brooke: (Sighs) Honey... (sighs) aren't you the least bit... (laughs) I don't know, jealous or insecure? I mean, think about it. You're living with a woman who has these deep feelings for a man that you're gonna spend the rest of your life with.

Bridget: (Sighs)

Katie: Look, my feelings for Nick are not a secret.

Donna: Then how can you plan this wedding? I mean, where does that leave you?

Katie: I suppose I'll have to find another place to live after the honeymoon. I'm sure they're gonna want their privacy.

Donna: That's not what I was talking about, and you know it.

Katie: Donna, I am over this conversation. I am so done talking about my feelings for Nick. What we shared--it's over. It was never gonna go anywhere anyway. I don't know why everyone can't accept that, because I certainly have.

Donna: Look, I understand your goodness, Katie, but I am gonna tell you something, just like I did when you wouldn't accept Storm's heart.

Katie: (Sighs)

Donna: You have to fight for what you want in this world, especially when it comes to something like this. Don't play the martyr. I mean, Nick and Bridget have been married before, and it didn't work then. Maybe it will now. Maybe it won't. But you two have something special. Be honest, Katie. You want him for yourself. I say you be the bride.

Katie: (Sighs)

Taylor: Hmm. Does it bother me that you adore me so much? Let me think about this. Hold on. Well, I guess on the spoiling part, um, I'm--I'm just a tad bit undeserving, but, no, it doesn't bother me, not at all.

Rick: Good.

Taylor: I'm good.

Rick: And you're-- (laughs) you're not undeserving, by the way.

Taylor: You know, I just can't help but think sometimes your life could be a lot simpler.

Rick: Simpler? How do you mean?

Taylor: Well, I have a few more years of--of baggage on me.

Rick: (Groans)

Taylor: And, uh, your mother isn't exactly thrilled.

Rick: What? So, what, I'm supposed to choose someone that's aligned with her preferences?

Taylor: No, no, of course not.

Rick: Okay, listen to me. What I share with you I cannot share with anybody else. Everything I've ever wanted in a woman is right here in front of me. I love you.

Bridget: Guess it's difficult to understand why I don't feel insecure around Katie, but I don't.

Brooke: Are you sure, honey? Because if I were in your position, I'm not sure if I could say the same thing.

Bridget: I-I-- maybe it's because of the history that Nick and I have, but I-I'm really confident, Mom. I just see it more as a necessary part of the evolution that got us to where we are today. And I feel so connected to that man, and I know he does to me. Katie's feelings for Nick, um...

Brooke: Are what?

Bridget: Special. I know that they're very special, and I know Nick cares about her. But the way he cares about me is so different. The love that we share is more of a lifetime commitment kind of love. And so I just don't feel insecure about it. There's no room for insecurity there. And I don't think there ever will be, Mom.

Brooke: Oh, honey. (Laughs) I just want to see you happy. That's all I've ever wanted.

Bridget: Mom, I think your dream has come true.

Brooke: (Laughs)

Katie: You may not understand this, Donna, but sometimes there are greater things in life than just satisfying your own desires.

Donna: No, I get it. I get it. There are different kinds of love, Katie, but--

Katie: Yeah, like my love for Bridget and my love for Nick and--and--and the way I love them as a couple. And--and there's a young child involved here. Bridget thinks of Jack as--as her own.

Donna: You are thinking too much. What about you? What about your feelings? You can't be a spectator. Life is not a spectator sport, Katie. You have to be a participant.  And if you really love Bridget like you say you do, is she getting what she wants-- a man who's-- who's truly committed?

Katie: Yes. Yes, she is because I've talked to Nick about this. We're on the same page. We speak the same language. He says you have to chart your own course in life. And he has decided to chart his course with Bridget.

Donna: And where are you gonna chart yours?

Katie: I don't know. I haven't figured that out yet.

Donna: No, I-I think we already know.

Katie: Look, do I care about Nick? Yes, of course I do. Do I love him enough to want to see him with someone who makes him truly happy, who's truly right for him?

Donna: How can you say that Bridget is--is right for him?

Katie: Donna, let's just for a minute pretend that I do what you're suggesting, that I tell Nick that I love him and that I want him and--and I go after him. What then? We're not even sure that he would choose me. I'm not sure of that. You can't be. And then what have I done? I have destroyed this beautiful friendship that I have with Bridget, someone I love and respect. I don't want to live with regret. I don't want to live with that kind of guilt. You don't know how much Nick truly loves her. I think they're soul mates. What he and I shared was just--it was just a moment in time. It was just a moment-- when we thought that I might not have too many more moments. And now I have to live my life as it was meant to be.

Donna: But you're not giving him a choice. You've made up your mind, and--and that's it.

Katie: That's because there is no choice. We're not going down that path.

Donna: You're afraid of being hurt.

Katie: No. No, you're wrong. I'm not afraid of being hurt. I have been hurt. I have literally had my heart ripped from my chest. That's not what this is about. This is about... (sighs) I'm afraid of hurting other people. I'm afraid of becoming someone I don't like. And that's what would happen if I threw everything away and if I threw everything that was right and decent away and went after Nick. And any happiness that I would gain from that would be tainted forever.

Katie: This is right. It's not just right for Bridget. It's not just right for Nick. It's right for me, too. So I'm gonna be happy. I'm gonna be happy for my two friends. I'm gonna be happy that they have found each other. Now I've listened to what you've had to say, and I hope you've listened to me because I don't want to talk about this ever again. Don't bring this up to me ever again.
