Marcus: No. Are you kidding? No. For real? (Laughs) You never heard of "Horse"?
Steffy: Okay, how do you play?
Marcus: All right. Say I take a particular shot, okay, a lay up perhaps. And after I make it, then it's your shot.
Steffy: Same shot?
Marcus: Right. Now if you miss, then you get an "H," and so on and so on. Now the first person to spell "Horse" loses.
Steffy: And what if you miss?
Marcus: I'm not gonna miss. Look, let's just play one, okay? I'm pretty sure you'll get the hang of it.
Steffy: All right.
Marcus: You sure you never heard of "Horse" before?
Steffy: (Laughs) Of course I have. I just wanted to hear you explain it.
Marcus: Okay.
Steffy: Oh! Wow, the man does tricks even.
Marcus: How about that?
Steffy: Aren't you full of interesting surprises?
Thorne: (Sighs) "behind every great design..."
Felicia: Is a home-wrecking slut with zero talent in the fashion business.
Phoebe: This is a joke, right?
Ridge: Felicia, just call the ad agency. Tell 'em to forget it.
Felicia: I'm one step ahead of you. And do you want to hear the punch line? They told me the ads have already been approved.
Ridge: By who? Donna?
Thorne: She has no business approving anything, much less a major marketing campaign.
Ridge: She's been given free reign around here. This has got to stop. We've got to stop her.
Thorne: Well, I'll tell you what. I'm with you on that, big brother.
Phoebe: Well, how do we get through to Granddad if he won't listen?
Thorne: (Laughs) I don't know.
Ridge: Do we know any more about this guy Marcus? There's some tie between him and Donna. I don't know what it is, but if we can find out, it might hit closer to home, open Dad's eyes.
(Phoebe remembering)
Steffy: I'm not gonna blow this for you and your mom. When the time is right, my Granddad will find out you're Donna's son.
Donna: No, Katie is still sleeping. Poor thing's so exhausted, I-I didn't want to wake her. Well, of course I'm excited, Eric. I-I'm--I'm thrilled. I-I can't wait to give her a big fat hug. Yeah. Listen, Eric, um, do you think you could do me a favor? If--if you have any plans tonight, do you-- do you think you can cancel them? I really need to talk to you about something. Okay. Excellent. Excellent. All right, I-I'll see you tonight, honey bear. I love you. (Door opens)
Donna: Dad. Oh, my gosh!
Stephen: Hello, beautiful.
Donna: (Laughs)
Stephen: (Laughs)
Donna: I-I didn't know you were coming.
Stephen: I know. I know. I remembered how much you love surprises.
Donna: Well, yeah, of cour--of course I do, but--
Stephen: But you were expecting your mother, weren't you?
Donna: She didn't come?
Donna: Mom. Mom! Oh!
Beth: Oh! Oh, Donna. (Sobs)
Donna: (Sobbing)
Beth: Oh.
Donna: (Sighs)
Beth: (Sniffles)
Steffy: Okay, you didn't tell me you were this good last night.
Marcus: Well, that's because we had better things to talk about.
Steffy: Ahh. Yeah, we did.
Marcus: Yeah. You know, I really appreciate you not saying anything about me and Donna. It really means a lot.
Steffy: So should we-- should we shoot some hoop?
Marcus: I don't know. Should we?
Steffy: Afraid I might beat you?
Marcus: (Sighs) I meant here. I mean, look, you're a Forrester. I'm a Logan. And with what your dad thinks of my mom lately... (winces) do you really think we should be hanging out right under his nose?
(Door opens)
Phoebe: That was a special day for you and Granddad.
Ridge: The Portofino challenge-- a real triumph, one of the proudest moments we've ever shared. And now Dad, this company, our family, everything's off track. Nothing's the way it used to be.
Phoebe: Because of Donna.
Ridge: I see him being led down a very dark path by someone he trusts and damn well shouldn't. If I could just get him to take the blinders off, see her the way the rest of us see her. My instincts are screaming out that Donna and this Marcus are covering up some enormous secret.
Phoebe: They are.
Ridge: Phoebe, you know something here?
Phoebe: I heard something. I-I...
Ridge: Well, this company and this family could be riding on this. What is it?
Phoebe: (Sighs) H-he's her son.
Ridge: What?
Phoebe: Uh, they've been hiding it from everyone, even Granddad. Donna is Marcus' mother.
Beth: Oh, Donna.
Donna: Mm.
Beth: Oh! You're so beautiful!
Donna: (Laughs)
Beth: It's been so long.
Donna: It's--it's too long.
Beth: I know.
Donna: I've missed you so much. (Sighs)
Beth: I've missed you, too.
Donna: Are you-- are you tired from your flight?
Beth: No, not--not really. I-I slept a little on the plane. It was, uh, it was quite comfortable. (Sighs)
Donna: Oh, Bridget said you went out of town. You--you picked 'em up on your jet?
Nick: Well, I had to go to Paris. I dropped my mother off for a little business.
Stephen: Nick is a very determined young man, my dear. You can thank him for going halfway around the world to fetch your mother here.
Donna: All the way to France?
Nick: Please. It's right around the corner.
Donna: (Giggles) Oh, Nick. Nick, for you to do this for Katie, for all of us... thank you.
Stephen: Katie-- is Katie upstairs? I'd love to see her.
Donna: Yeah. Yeah. She's probably awake by now.
Nick: I'll show you to her room.
Stephen: Oh, thanks.
Donna: (Sighs) I know you would have come sooner if you could have. But storm's funeral-- it was just too much for you. I-I understand. Mom, it's been so hard for all of us. I mean, the only thing that made it almost bearable is knowing why he did it. The sacrifice that he-- he made for Katie-- it's a real tribute to the kind of man he was.
Nick: Hey.
Katie: Hey.
Nick: Rise and shine, sleepyhead.
Katie: Mm. You're back.
Nick: I'm back.
Katie: That was quick.
Nick: (Laughs) Well, that was fast, but not easy. I brought you a present.
Katie: Oh, good. I love presents.
Nick: (Laughs)
Katie: What is it?
Nick: (Clears throat) Come on in.
Katie: (Gasps) Dad!
Stephen: Hi, sweetheart.
Katie: Hey.
Stephen: Hi.
Katie: (Laughs)
Stephen: Oh. (Laughs)
Katie: (Giggles)
Marcus: Well, I'm not exactly Ridge's favorite employee. Look, he knows something's up between-- well, the other person that he's not so hot on.
Steffy: So? Let him wonder.
Marcus: Yeah, right.
Steffy: Marcus, relax. Everything's cool. My dad's not gonna find anything out from me. Your secret's safe until you're ready to start letting people know.
Ridge: Marcus is Donna's son? How is that possible?
Phoebe: She must have had him a really long time ago and--and given him up for adoption.
Ridge: I don't believe this. I--who told you?
Phoebe: I heard some people talking. But, Dad, I-I swear I-I wouldn't repeat this if I thought it weren't true. This whole time, they've been sneaking around right under our noses.
Ridge: Well, I'll be damned. Donna has a grown son, a fact she's obviously felt compelled to hide from us. Well, now this could be it. This could be the answer we've been searching for. Maybe there is finally a way to get to Dad.
Katie: (Laughs) What are you doing here?
Stephen: Visiting you. Oh, honey, I was just going crazy when I couldn't get here and you were so sick.
Katie: Oh, don't worry about it. I wasn't that talkative.
Stephen: But you're okay now?
Katie: (Laughs) Yeah.
Nick: I'd say she's a hell of a lot better than just okay.
Katie: Yeah, rumor has it I'm gonna be sticking around for a while.
Stephen: Thank god, sweetheart. Thank god.
Katie: I'm so glad you're here.
Donna: So I guess we should talk about it, huh?
Beth: About what?
Donna: Oh, the 800-pound gorilla in the room. (Laughs) My marriage to Eric.
Beth: (Sighs)
Donna: I know you two have a lot of history, so I-I just don't want anything to be awkward between us now. He makes me so happy, Mom.
Beth: Then I'm happy for you, honey.
Donna: Really?
Beth: Really.
Donna: (Sniffles) well, you know, we were gonna postpone the wedding, but--but Katie insisted.
Beth: Does your sister know I'm here?
Donna: No. No. But it's--it's-- it's gonna be a wonderful surprise, Mom.
Beth: (Laughs)
Donna: God, it's been so hard watching-- watcher her suffer like this. It's truly a miracle she survived.
Beth: They do happen occasionally, miracles, usually just when you've stopped hoping for one.
Donna: You just read my mind right now.
Beth: Did I?
Donna: You always could, you know? Remember the day that-- that I-I told you I was pregnant?
Beth: (Sighs) (whispers) Yes.
Donna: We were in the kitchen cooking dinner together. It was pot roast, Stormy's favorite. I was-- I was chopping onions, and I had tears running down my face, pretending that that's why I was crying. But somehow you-- you knew. I-I didn't even have to say anything. I-I think got as far as saying, "Mom, you're gonna be so disappointed in me." And you just looked at me and said, "You're gonna have a baby, aren't you, Donna?" All I could do was nod. I-- I mean, I-I was practically shaking. I was terrified on how you would react. But you--you just took me into your arms without saying a word, and you just-- you just let me cry. It's still so vivid in my mind, how you could just read me like that, how close we were. (Laughs) (sniffles) Yeah, you're probably wondering what--what that story has to do with-- with miracles, the ones that happen when-- when you least expect it.
Donna: When I-- when I had the child and I-I gave him up for adoption, I never thought I'd see him again. Only now I have, Mom. My son--he-- (sniffles) he's found me. He's come back into my life.
Beth: Well...
Donna: (Sighs) (sniffles) You--you look stunned. Yeah, I was, too, when-- when he came to the door a few weeks ago.
Beth: I-- I don't-- I don't know what to say.
Donna: (Laughs) My son-- his name is Marcus. But he--he's all grown up now, Mom. He's--he's amazing. He's-- he is so-- so handsome and--and so talented and athletic. He--
Beth: Who--who else knows about this?
Donna: Only, um, Brooke and Katie. I-I plan to break the news to Eric tonight.
Beth: You haven't told him you have a child?
Donna: I know. I know, Mom. It's--it's not gonna be easy, trying to explain to my husband why I waited, but... but having you here, supporting me, Mom, it's just--it's-- it's already given me so much courage.
Beth: Well...
Donna: There's nothing that Ridge and his family can do to me now. Oh, Mom. (Sighs) (sobs)
Ridge: That's right. Donna Logan. Full background check. And I especially want to know if she ever gave up a child for adoption. Great. I'll wait for you to call me back. Thanks to you and the information you provided, my love, I'm confident that Donna will finally be out of Dad's life. The Forresters will be united again.
Steffy: That had to be the shortest game of "Horse" in the history of all basketball.
Marcus: Two out of three?
Steffy: No way. Not till I practice some.
Marcus: Mm.
Steffy: What's up, Marcus?
Marcus: Mm.
Steffy: Is something wrong?
Marcus: No, I get the impression that Donna's gonna say something soon.
Steffy: About you two?
Marcus: Yeah. You see, everything could change. I mean, your dad has a problem with me now. Wait till he finds out who my mother is.
Ridge: Phoebe, if you're right about this...
Phoebe: I know what I heard.
Ridge: Whatever the private eye uncovers, you did the right thing coming to me. Dad deserves so much better than a wife who would hide something this big from him.
Donna: I-I-I'm so glad you're here. I-I--it's gonna make all the difference...
Beth: Mm.
Donna: Especially to Katie. So w-wh-what's taken you so long, Mom? I--what have you been doing? What--what's going on in your life? I--
Beth: Well, I-I've been in Paris living my life. (Laughs)
Donna: Living your life without your children and your grandchildren?
Beth: (Gasps) Oh. Oh. (Laughs) oh, I think that, uh, long flight is beginning to ca-- to catch up with me.
Donna: Are--are you okay? Are you feeling jet-lagged or...
Beth: I am a little, yes.
Donna: Okay. Well, we--we don't want to wear you out your first day. You're here, and that's what counts. (Sighs) okay, well, do you want to go see Katie?
Katie: Okay, I'm decent.
Stephen: Well, you look fantastic.
Katie: Thanks. I wish my Laker pajamas weren't still in the wash.
Nick: (Laughs) she wears 'em all the time.
Katie: I do. (Laughs)
Stephen: I didn't know you were such a fan.
Katie: Oh, yeah, since I was a kid. Mom got me hooked. It seems like a long time ago.
Stephen: You probably wish she was here, too, don't ya?
Katie: Yeah, well, why wish for something that's not gonna happen, right?
Nick: So your mom was a basketball fan? That's how you got into it?
Katie: Yeah, since I was a baby. Everyone had left, and I was still in school. It was just the two of us. I always felt like I could count on her. She always promised that she'd never be far away. Why would she say something like that if she didn't mean it? How could she let me go through this agony all by myself? I've been going through hell, and where--where has she been? Where is my mother?
Beth: I'm right here, honey.
Katie: Mom. (Gasps) Mom? (Sobbing) oh, Mom. Oh, you're here.
Beth: Yes, I'm here.
Katie: You're here? (Sobs) I didn't think you would come. I didn't think you cared.
Beth: Not care? Oh, my darling girl, how could I not care? I'm so sorry I wasn't here.
Katie: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. You're here now.
Beth: Yes.
Katie: You're here now. (Sobs)
Beth: I love you so much. (Sniffles) (Sighs)
Katie: I knew you wouldn't let me down. I knew it. I knew you wouldn't let me down. Thank you so much for coming. Thank you so much for being here now. I love you so much.
Beth: Oh, and I, love you. Don't you ever doubt that. Don't ever doubt... (voice breaks) How much I love you.
Katie: (Laughs)
Beth: (Sobs)
Katie: (Laughs) (Sniffles)
