Brooke: I keep praying for a sign, something.
Nick: Bridget, what do you got?
Bridget: The lab's checking the blood count every two hours. If there was gonna be a change, I'm just...
Donna: We would know by now.
Brooke: (Sobbing) Our darling Katie's slipping away from us. I can feel it.
Ridge: Thank you, all, for coming in early. I wanted to talk with you first before we go to dad with any of our findings.
Steffy: Findings about what?
Felicia: How our company's doing, where we're headed.
Ridge: The future of Forrester Creations is right here in this room.
Phoebe: I heard a rumor that Granddad's retiring. Is that true?
Ridge: It's been discussed.
Ashley: Just so you know, we don't want him to retire.
Felicia: Absolutely not. We want to keep working alongside Dad just the way we always have been.
Phoebe: How is the company doing? I mean, I get the impression something's wrong. Or else, why call an emergency meeting?
Ridge: Thank you, all, for coming in early. I wanted to talk with you first before we go to dad with any of our findings.
Steffy: Findings about what?
Felicia: How our company's doing, where we're headed. Tell him to retire.
Felicia: Absolutely not. We want to keep working alongside dad just the way we always have been.
Phoebe: How is the company doing? I mean, I get the impression something's wrong. Or else, why call an emergency meeting?
Donna: Just hang in there, okay? And--and call us if--if you can get in later.
Brooke: Was that dad?
Donna: His flight's been cancelled on account of weather. Or else, why call an emergency meeting?
Donna: Just hang in there, okay? And--and call us if--if you can get in later.
Brooke: Was that dad?
Donna: His flight's been cancelled on account of weather.
Bridget: Oh, no.
Donna: He's so upset. He did everything humanly possible to get here in time.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Donna: (Sniffles) How you doing?
Brooke: Just numb, I guess.
Donna: It's almost surreal how--how fast everything is happening.
Brooke: (Sniffles) I don't think Katie's gonna have a second chance at a miracle.
Bridget: I can't accept that. I'm just not going to accept that.
Brooke: Honey--
Bridget: I'm just going to check Katie's last blood sample, the results. I just need--
Nick: Bridget, you already checked that, honey.
Bridget: I know. I'm just gonna do it again.
Nick: Honey!
Bridget: No, stop, Nick.
Nick: Shh. Shh. Shh. Come on. (Whispers) Come on.
Bridget: (Sobbing)
Ridge: My very astute daughter just hit the proverbial nail on the head.
Ashley: I'm in the dark.
Ridge: That's because you haven't seen the recent sales figures.
Felicia: That's right. We want to share them with you and the girls before any memos go out.
Thorne: Along with some other information we've gathered, too.
Ridge: Here, pass these out.
Felicia: Yeah?
Ashley: Whoa, that is-- that's quite a drop-off.
Thorne: Mm-hmm. And some shipments have been canceled, as well.
Ridge: Dad's last collection got great critical acclaim. The gowns are just not selling anywhere near what we expected.
Felicia: And they were at first. Everybody saw mother onstage with dad, and it created this certain impression. And then dad's wedding hit the society page.
Ashley: Oh, so you feel that Eric's marriage to Donna is causing a negative impact on sales?
Thorne: We don't feel it, Ashley. We know it. We have proof.
Ridge: Exhibit "B."
Felicia: It's the topline report from the moderator we hired-- one-on-one interviews with some of our best clients from Los Angeles to orange counties. (Sighs) It gave us a quick read once we noticed the nosedive in sales.
Ridge: It's all part of a very unfortunate pattern we see developing here. And yes, it's because of cause and effect.
Ashley: "Respondents' primary objection was that the line is too trendy for their taste. In addition, over half of respondents stated that the company's image suffered in their eyes as a result of its founder, Eric Forrester, having recently married a much younger woman." Wow.
Felicia: Yeah, wow. (Laughs) it doesn't get more explicit than that.
Steffy: (Gasps)
Ridge: In addition to the sales figures and the research findings, I've gotten a lot of very disturbing phone calls from a lot of our, uh, retail buyers. Now that dad's made Donna "First lady of Forrester," there's a lot of confusion out there. They're very concerned about the future of Forrester and the direction we're going.
Felicia: Of course. Because Mother and Father have always been the signature couple of Forrester Creations for decades. And to our clients, they embody class and elegance and tradition.
Ashley: And Donna is viewed as a less-classy influence, obviously.
Thorne: And they don't see it going away.
Ridge: It is not how we envisioned Forrester continuing to prosper here, but that seems to be the direction that dad's being pulled in.
Felicia: So we have two very conflicting design philosophies here, and according to our buyers, there is definitely some damage going on. And I think we have to stop the damage before the cachet of the Forrester name goes down the tubes.
Ridge: One last bit of bad news.
Phoebe: Like we need more.
Ridge: Jarrett sent me some advance releases of negative publicity. He just wanted to give us a heads-up before it hits the, uh, fashion press.
Ashley: How negative is negative?
Ridge: Well, one of the captions reads, "The day Forrester Creations lost its way." They're referring to when dad and Donna got married. That's the very same day.
Felicia: Donna does not belong in this company. That's the bottom line.
Ridge: Look, everybody, things are bad now, but it's only gonna get worse. When it comes to Donna Logan, God knows what's gonna happen next.
(Knock on door)
Ridge: Come in.
Marcus: Oh, I'm sorry, Mr. Forrester. I didn't realize you were in a meeting.
Nick: Courier's here.
Bridget: Oh, good. I want to get these last samples to the lab.
Donna: (Sniffles)
Brooke: We'll leave you alone.
Donna: Thanks.
Donna: (Sniffling) Oh, sweetie... (sobs) I'm so sorry.
Donna: You'll never believe what Marcus said when he heard that-- when he heard that, uh, you weren't doing so well. He said that, um, he could tell by watching you at storm's funeral what--what an incredible person you must be and that he-- he wished he got a chance to get to know you better. His Aunt Katie-- you know, you're the only person I-I told, the only person that I've confided in. Don't worry. I-I will tell Eric very soon. (Voice breaks) I just wish you could be there when I do. (Sobs) I mean, you always just-- (sniffles) you always give me such good advice, you know? You keep me pointed in the right direction. (Whispers) Katie, I'm gonna miss you so much. (Sobs) you're such an amazing sister. (Sobs) (sniffles) (normal voice) You're always the realist, you know? You-- never stars in Katie Logan's eyes.
Donna: But there's stars in 'em now. You're gonna shine down on us forever.
Brooke: Any change?
Brooke: It's probably a blessing that she's unconscious.
Donna: I'll give you some time alone.
Brooke: Wait.
Donna: (Sniffles)
Brooke: Do you remember when mom and dad brought her home from the hospital?
Donna: (Laughs) No, I mean, I was-- I was kind of young.
Brooke: Yeah. I do. (Laughs) I remember really well. She was so teeny, so perfect. I got to hold her. And mom said that she was a gift from God, and I really do believe that. (Sighs) you are a gift from God. (Sobs) and now it looks like God wants you back. (Sighs) and those angels-- they're gonna be really happy, especially one in particular. Storm is waiting for you, little sis, and he loves you so much. You were always his favorite.
Donna: (Sobs)
Brooke: (Sniffles) Broccoli.
Thorne: What is it, Marcus?
Marcus: I have a delivery for Mr. Eric Forrester.
Thorne: Oh, I'll take it. Has everyone here met Marcus, by the way?
Ridge: No, I don't believe so.
Thorne: Well, this is my sister Felicia. She does just about everything around here.
Marcus: Hi.
Thorne: Ashley Abbott, our chief chemist.
Ashley: Hi, Marcus. Nice to meet you.
Marcus: Same here.
Thorne: And this is my brother Ridge. He is our chief designer.
Ridge: Hey.
Marcus: Hi. Nice to meet you, sir.
Thorne: His daughter Phoebe who models for us.
Phoebe: We met at Insomnia the other day.
Marcus: Oh, yeah. That's right. We did.
Thorne: And his other daughter Steffy who you obviously know because you work with her.
Marcus: Yes, we've been formally introduced.
Felicia: Storm Logan's memorial service-- that's exactly where I know you from.
Marcus: Yes, I was actually helping serve there.
Ashley: Oh, that's right. You're with the caterers. I knew I recognized your face from someplace.
Marcus: Must have got one of those faces-- you know, easy to remember.
Ashley: (Laughs)
Marcus: Um, well, again, I'm sorry for the interruption. I didn't mean to intrude. I'll let you guys get back to work.
Ashley: He seems like a nice guy.
Steffy: I think so.
Felicia: What? Was he ever even an intern?
Thorne: No, entry-level hire. Dad brought him in.
Ridge: Actually, it was Donna.
Thorne: What?
Felicia: What? So now she's making staffing decisions? Nice.
Ridge: Yeah, when Steffy mentioned that to me, I had the same reaction. This guy has zero experience, zero interest in fashion.
Ashley: That's not so great. You think of all the grads who are right out of design school who are just dying to get their foot in here at Forrester...
Ridge: Why he's here at all is a big mystery to me.
Steffy: Yeah, Donna and Granddad asked me to stay in the room when they were interviewing him. I don't know. I kind of got the impression Donna was pushing him for him to get hired.
Thorne: If I would have known that before...
Ashley: What's Donna's connection to Marcus? I mean, other than the catering thing?
Felicia: That's exactly what I'd like to know.
Steffy: I know. It seems a little weird to me, too. But Marcus is a cool guy, and he is doing a good job, so far.
Ridge: I'd say that remains to be seen. You've known him, what, two days so far?
Thorne: Well, what bothers me is Donna is using her influence to get people in here.
Ridge: People we know almost nothing about.
Felicia: Hmm. Goes on the list of things we need to ask dad about pronto.
Brooke: (Sighs) You should be very proud, you know? You made Katie very happy, made some of her dreams come true.
Nick: Did you find out anything more?
Bridget: No. The lab's gonna e-mail me after they check the last blood draw.
Brooke: Is there any chance?
Bridget: Oh, Mom.
Brook: Oh, honey, I'm sorry. I know you're under a lot of pressure as it is.
Bridget: I was just so sure I'd figured something out, and I could not have been more wrong.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Nick: Why don't you take a minute?
Bridget: (Sniffles)
Bridget: (Sighs) Katie, oh, honey, I'm so sorry. I really thought I tried everything. I-I think I did. I wish I could be as brave as you are. The thought of letting you go just... you know, it's har-- (voice breaks) it's a lot harder than I ever thought it would be. (Sobs) I'm gonna try and be as brave as you are, though. And you've fought so hard. You've fought so hard, and you've been... so strong. Oh, my beautiful Katie.
Nick: Hey. Your phone buzzed.
Bridget: Oh, maybe it's the hospital.
Ridge: Okay, does everyone agree? We take a firm stand against Donna having any involvement in this company again?
Ashley: You've made a very compelling case, Ridge.
Ridge: Are you with us then?
Ashley: I'd be hard-pressed not to.
Ridge: Okay. We need us all to stick together here. Phoebe? Steffy?
Phoebe: I mean, like Ashley said, there's a lot of proof that she's hurting Forrester Creations.
Ridge: All right, then it's settled. Our father married that woman. That's his business. But this is our business. This is our family's legacy right here, and if we want to see it continue for a third generation and beyond, we gotta take some action now. Donna is out as of now, and mother is back in.
Ashley: Mm.
Thorne: You've got my vote.
Felicia: Mine, too.
Nick: (Sighs)
Nick: So... (sighs) we look at this as a new beginning. And we look at this as a celebration of the time that we had together. How do you like that?
Nick: (Sighs) Thank you, Katie Logan. Thank you for that time.
Nick: (Whispers) thank you.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Bridget: I-I-- I can't believe it.
Brooke: What? What is it?
Donna: Is--is that from the hospital?
Bridget: (Sobs) The lab just e-mailed me with the latest blood results. There's a big improvement. There's definitely a big improvement!
Donna: (Gasps)
Brooke: Oh, my God. Oh, God.
Bridget: Oh, my God! There's been improvement.
Brooke: Really? Are you-- are you sure?
Bridget: Oh, my God!
Donna: (Laughing) Katie!
Brooke: This is wonderful. (Sobbing)
Bridget: (Whispers) Thank goodness.
Brooke: (Laughs)
Nick: Katie?
Donna: (Gasps)
Nick: (Whispers) Katie.
Katie: (Weakly) Am I in heaven?
Nick: (Sighs)
Bridget: Katie! (Laughs)
Nick: Katie.
Bridget: (Laughing) Oh, Katie.
