Nick: Excuse me. How's the patient?

Woman: She's doing much better.

Nick: Well, that's good, yes?

Woman: All under control.

Nick: All right. Thank you.

Nick: Oh! I brought you something.

Nick: Pistachios. Got 'em from the gift shop downstairs, but those guards are a little strict out there. They're worried about germs, so you can eat 'em when you blow this pop stand. How about that? What, you're not into pistachios? Scotch, anyone? That can be arranged. We can run that I.V. direct from the bottle.

Nick: (Sighs)

Donna: God, it feels so good to be in your arms.

Eric: Oh, good.

Donna: (Sighs)

Eric: Wow, what a journey you've been through at the hospital. It's almost over, though, now. Katie's getting better.

Donna: But Storm will never be returning. He has been there for me my whole life.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: (Whispers) I'm so happy to have you. (Normal voice) tomorrow, we're getting married right here. (Laughs)

Eric: Mm. (Chuckles)

Donna: And this will be our home. I--

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: I can hardly believe it.

Eric: Look at you.

Donna: (Laughs) (door opens)

Eric: Hey, uh, give Katie my best, all right?

Donna: (Sighs)

Rick: Mine, too.

Donna: I will.

Eric: All right.

Donna: (Sighs)

Eric: Be careful driving home, all right?

Donna: Okay.

Eric: I'll call you later.

Rick: (Laughs)

Rick: So Katie's hanging in there? She's doing okay?

Eric: Yeah, uh, medically, she's, uh, improving, but--but emotionally, it's just, uh--

Rick: Well, yeah. I mean, could you imagine? Your--your brother kills himself because he knows that you need his heart, and then--

Eric: No, I can't imagine. I think the fallout from this whole thing is gonna hit that family very, very hard.

Bridget: (Sniffles) Nick? (Sobs) are you home?

Bridget: (Sniffles) Nick? (Sobs) (sniffles) I'm coming upstairs.

Nick: Well, I know, for sure, it's no fun to be sick. You know, you come in here for some rest, and they got you up all night turning lights on, coming in and out, poking all around you. The real key is that u get better. That's what your brother wanted for you. That's what we all want for you, Katie.

Nick: Well, I can see you may not be up for visitors, but if you have a change of heart...

Katie: (Sighs)

Nick: Uh, or a change of tune or change of address or change of outfit... oh! Oh. Is that a smile I see, hmm? I think so. (Laughs)

Nick: Well, I'm gonna go.

Nick: Take it easy on the nurses.

Brooke: Nick?

Nick: Hi.

Brooke: Hi.

Nick: She's awake if you want to go in.

Brooke: Oh, I know. Thank you, by the way.

Nick: For what?

Brooke: For making my sister smile.

Nick: (Laughs) Well, I guess my knack for bad comedy finally had a purpose.

Brooke: (Laughs) Yeah, I guess it finally did. Thank you.

Eric: How's your mother? When did you talk to her last?

Rick: A couple of hours ago, actually. Dad, she's been through hell.

Eric: Same with Donna.

Rick: So the-- the wedding ceremony-- is that tomorrow, or...

Eric: I'm leaving that up to Donna. Katie wants her to go ahead with it, but under the circumstances, I--

Rick: Well, under the circumstances, it--it might be a good thing. (Laughing) think about it. Think about it, you know? That--it's a cause for celebration, gives people a-an opportunity to--to move forward--

Eric: Unless everybody's just going through the motions. It really should be the happiest day of Donna's life. They've only just begun the grieving process.

Rick: You're right. But look, it-- for whatever it's worth, I know that you and Donna will be solid, regardless of when the ceremony is... seriously. I mean, I-I see this earlier and--and the way she leans on you in--in times of-- times a need. Sometimes, love is-- is all you need to get you through to the--to the next minute, next hour, next day.

Eric: Yeah.

Brooke: I spoke with Dr. Patrick, and he's very pleased with the way that you've stabilized. So whatever you're doing, keep on doing it, and we'll get you home as soon as possible.

Katie: (Sighs)

Brooke: I know what's weighing on you.

Katie: Do you?

Brooke: You can't stop thinking about Storm.

Brooke: (Sighs) so much has happened, and it's hard for anybody to really understand. I know that's how I feel. Stormy's life was in such turmoil. It was so out of control, and now it's over, and he doesn't have to suffer anymore. Katie, I know that he's looking down on you right now, and he is so happy and so grateful that you are alive. That is e-exactly what he wanted. I mean, it-- it's really strange, in a way, because it is a miracle if you think about it.

Katie: Stop. Just stop!

Bridget: (Sobbing) Nick, oh, I'm so glad to see you.

Nick: Hi.

Bridget: (Sobs) (sobbing)

Nick: (Gasps) I looked for you before I left the hospital, but I couldn't find you.

Bridget: Oh, I'm just so glad that you're here. (Sobs) oh, my God. (Sobbing) I can't believe what Storm did. I cannot believe that he did that to himself. (Sobs)

Nick: I know.

Bridget: (Sobbing) It just seems like such a bad dream. Oh, my God. Will you just-- will you just hold me?

Nick: I got you. I got you.

Bridget: (Sobbing)

Rick: So, Dad, if you need me to make any calls to change arrangements, you just let me know.

Eric: That's very thoughtful of you, actually, but under the circumstances, I--

Rick: You need to play it by ear. I get it.

Eric: I don't think I'm gonna know until tomorrow if Donna's comfortable going ahead with this. And it's not as though we'd planned this big, complicated wedding, you know, and everything.

Rick: Well-- there's not tons of guests and attendants and all the rest of--

Rick: Yes, but people will be there.

Eric: Yes, but just Donna and me and the minister and our families as witnesses. That's all.

Rick: No best man?

Eric: Best man? Oh, like Ridge or Thorne would want to do this? You know how they feel about this wedding.

Rick: Thank you. So am I chopped liver?

Eric: So you would stand up for me?

Rick: I thought you'd never ask. (Laughs)

Eric: (Laughs)

Nick: When's the last time you ate?

Bridget: Oh, the thought of food just...

Nick: How about now, hmm? How do you feel now about some food?

Bridget: Okay. I mean, I don't know. Maybe I could eat something.

Nick: Okay. Well, I know you haven't slept at all, so why don't you just stretch out here on the couch.

Bridget: (Sobbing)

Nick: And I'll go in the kitchen, and I'll-- I'll whip you up some eggs or something like that, okay? Hmm? All right?

Bridget: (Sobs) No, no, no, no. no, don't go. Please, just...

Nick: Afraid I'm gonna burn your eggs? You don't want your omelet crispy?

Bridget: No, I think you're... (sobbing) Nick. (Sobbing) oh, God, no. Storm just kept begging me. He was begging me to do something and to save her. He wanted me to find a miracle, and I tried. (Sobs) I swear, I tried. I-I-I was calling every organ bank, and none of them had any hearts available. I... (sobs) and even if we could get a heart in time, I didn't-- I mean, none of them were gonna be a match, and then Storm just thought in his mind that because of what I told him, he thought that-- all those seeds I was planting in his mind, he thought the only solution would be if he gave her his heart.

Nick: Bridget.

Bridget: I can't believe I did--

Nick: Bridget, now stop this! You are not responsible for what happened.

Bridget: (Sobbing)

Nick: Storm made his own decision.

Bridget: No, but, Nick, I pushed him to do that!

Nick: Don't do this to yourself, Bridget.

Bridget: I know I did.

Nick: Shh. Shh. (Whispers) okay.

Bridget: (Sobbing)

Nick: (Normal voice) now you said yourself that Katie had a couple hours to live. She was on a life machine. All the other doctors were planning a funeral, but not you. You kept on fighting. Even after what Storm did, you kept your cool, and you didn't flinch.

Bridget: (Sobbing)

Nick: You got a team of doctors together that made sure that heart was viable, and you were in the operating room with that surgeon helping him out. You did what needed to be done. It's all because of you.

Bridget: (Sniffles) Nick, I barely remember doing anything.

Nick: Well, I was there, and I saw what you did. Katie's alive because of you.

Katie: I don't want to talk about Storm.

Brooke: Sweetie, I know it's hard, and we're all devastated. Storm was such a huge part of all of our lives, and Dad's been trying to put together the memorial service arrangements, and I know it's been killing him. The only thing that's really keeping us together is knowing that you're willing to fight, that you're going to be okay, that you're gonna be as good as new one day.

Donna: Well, I'd say she looks pretty good right now. You got some roses back in your cheeks. How you feeling, little sis?

Brooke: Physically, she's doing better, but she's still pretty upset.

Donna: Well, Rick and Eric send their love. Everybody's asking about you, even Stephanie. And if I didn't know any better, I'd say there's an actual human being inside there.

Brooke: (Laughs)

Donna: (Laughs) she really cares that you're getting along well. I mean, she's even treating me decent, if you can believe that.

Donna: Anyway, um, Eric and I have been discussing things, and--and we think it's better if we just postpone the wedding after all. It just-- it wouldn't feel right without you being there. We'll just-- we'll wait till you're better.

Katie: Better? I'm never going to be better. I should be dead. I wish I was dead.

Donna: Katie. Katie, don't-- don't say that. You've--you've come so far. You're doing so well.

Brooke: Honey, we know that you're in pain. We know that this is all so overwhelming. But you're going to be fine. Life will go on.

Donna: The wedding is-- is going to happen, Katie, maybe--maybe just not now, you know? Not--not when we're all just such a mess. I still can't believe Stormy's gone. I mean, he was supposed to walk me down the aisle. I miss him so much, and I know you do, too, but he-- he really hasn't left us, has he? I mean, he's inside of you, that incredible heart that you have inside of you. Our brother is... so amazing. He's a hero.

Katie: Stop. Just stop! Our brother was not a hero.

Bridget: I think you're giving me a little bit more credit than I deserve, Nick.

Nick: Do you?

Bridget: I'm a doctor. I was just doing my job.

Nick: You want to argue with me, fine, but don't think that you're gonna be brought down off that pedestal I choose to put you on.

Bridget: Look, we're all very grateful that Katie's alive and that she's made it through, you know? I mean, at least for now, so far, so good. You for now. So far, so good. The trauma her body's experienced together with the emotion and stress, it's not like she's out of danger yet but she's holding her own and that's good. Then well hope and pray it stays that way. I prayed so hard the heart would just start beating and it was amazing Nick because I felt something in that room. Seeing it was almost spiritual, the silent breeze came through the room. It was just -- I can't help thinking that, you know ... Storm. I know that sounds crazy.

Nick: No. No, it -- it doesn't sound crazy to me. You know, Bridget, there was something going on in that room, something beyond people, beyond doctors, beyond anything that men and women can do. I know. You're right and I just hope that he keeps that heart beating. I don't think she's going to let you down. I got a smile out of her today, did I tell you that?

Bridget: Really?

Nick: Yeah.

Bridget: How did you do that.

Nick: I opened my mouth, inserted my foot and took a bow. It works every time.

Bridget: Lucky look there, Mr. Entertainer, you even got me to smile.

Donna: What did you say? After what Storm did for you, What did you say? After what Storm -- 's hard, and I know you have how can you say that? Storm loved you. He gave up his life for you. He is a hero.

Katie:No, Donna, no. There's no heroism in killing yourself. There's no honor or redemption. Storm has left us behind. He has abandoned us to live in this hell. Don't you ever call him a hero again. Not to me.
