Stephanie: It isn't as though we haven't been down this road before-- ending a marriage. I do believe it's a tragedy for our family, but I don't think there's any other way to handle this. You know, what Katie is going through right now has sort of put this all in its proper perspective.
Eric: I'm impressed, not only with the way you've accepted my intentions to marry Donna, but the way you reached out to the--the Logan family, especially Stephen, at the hospital.
Stephanie: Well, I got to thinking when you and I were with Felicia in the hospital room and she was dying-- at least we thought she was. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. And to lose your oldest child-- oh, my God. That's almost too much to bear, isn't it?
Bridget: She's not doing any better, is she?
Dr. Patrick: No. Steroids, antibiotics-- none of it's having any effect.
Bridget: Her body is still trying to reject Storm's heart.
Donna: Storm -- he didn't leave. He wouldn't leave you, Katie.
Brooke: He's with you now.
Donna: He saved your life. He died so you could live. He's a hero.
Brooke: No change?
Dr. Patrick: I'm doing everything I can to help your sister.
Stephen: So it's not an infection?
Dr. Patrick: No. But in trying to address this rejection event, we've had to suppress her immune system to such a point that we may have to keep her isolated-- medical personnel only.
Donna: She'll be alone?
Dr. Patrick: I'll give you all some time. Then we can talk about the next course of action.
Donna: One of us should have stayed with her.
Bridget: Oh, honey, you'd have been here all night. You had to go take care of Storm.
Brooke: We had his body cremated. We'll hold a memorial for him once you're out of the hospital.
Katie: (Sighs)
Eric: You've changed.
Stephanie: I've threatened to do it for years.
Eric: Yeah, but I never thought you would, uh, follow through.
Stephanie: (Chuckles) I've tried everything else.
Eric: So it isn't that you've actually changed. It's that you're giving up?
Stephanie: No, not giving up. Letting go... of you, the company, my anger.
Eric: And the house?
Stephanie: Walking away from everything that would be painful for me.
Eric: Is that the way you think of me?
Stephanie: You? No. But if I think of you and Donna together, that's pretty painful.
Eric: (Sighs)
Stephanie: But she makes you happy, so I have to accept that.
Eric: But you can't, uh, you just can't be here to see it?
Stephanie: You bet your life.
Eric: Does that mean you're not coming to the wedding?
Stephanie: You think you'll get married tomorrow? I mean, with everything that's going on with Katie and her family? Is that realistic?
Eric: (Sighs)
Stephen: Honey, can't this be stopped?
Bridget: Well, usually, yes, but the medications aren't helping Katie like they should.
Stephen: They're not working.
Bridget: She has to want it to work, and I don't know if she does.
Brooke: Katie said it herself. Last night she made it very clear. She thinks what Storm did is wrong.
Stephen: Well, I understand how she feels, but he gave his life for her. He gave her his heart.
Brooke: Yes, and now she's rejecting it. If Storm died in vain...
Eric: Well, Donna hasn't cancelled anything yet.
Stephanie: It's probably the last thing on her mind. I mean, no offense.
Eric: You're probably right. She hasn't had any sleep. She's been nowhere but the hospital. She probably doesn't even know what day it is.
Stephanie: Too late probably to get the, uh, deposit back from the caterer, but your best man can make other plans.
Eric: Donna and I had planned something a little less traditional.
Stephanie: Oh. No caterer, no best man?
Eric: You think either one of our sons would accept that job?
Stephanie: Honey, you've got a lot of friends.
Eric: All my friends are your friends.
Stephanie: You and Donna will make new friends... (sighs heavily) that is if she has the time.
Eric: (Clears throat) What's that?
Stephanie: This is the, uh, new Mrs. Eric Forrester instruction manual-- fourth edition.
Eric: (Laughs) No, really, what is it?
Stephanie: It is. What do you th--I'm not kidding. I mean, if she's going to live here with you, she has to know how to run this house. So I've put together the schedule of the gardeners, the housekeeping people, you know, when the florist delivers the flowers.
Eric: No, wa-wait, give--give me that. What are you doing?
Stephanie: I'm making sure that you're taken care of. It may not be my job anymore, but I'm just gonna make sure that it's done correctly.
Eric: You're really something, aren't you?
Stephanie: I know.
Katie: Isn't your wedding tomorrow?
Donna: Oh, Katie, I'm not even thinking about that.
Katie: Marry Eric.
Donna: What?
Katie: Just do it.
Donna: Katie, no, we have to think about getting you better. That's all. Besides, I want you to be my maid of honor.
Katie: Just do it... without me.
Brooke: That's enough, Katie. You need to save your strength. They will get married, but you need to get better. We are not going to let you give up.
Ridge: Dad.
Eric: Marriage is over. It's all official.
Ridge: And now you're supposed to marry Donna tomorrow.
Eric: Actually, I'm not absolutely sure-- everything that's been happening with Donna's family.
Ridge: Might not be, uh, a bad idea to give it a little more thought. Her sister just had a heart transplant. Her brother is dead. It's a horrible situation, Dad. The family's gonna need time to recover. And we'll help them. But, Dad, I saw the way you and Mother were relating to each other at the hospital. The way she's acting-- you've gotta be a little bit impressed.
Eric: Your mother's a very impressive woman.
Ridge: She's changed. You've seen it. Don't say it doesn't matter. I know it does matter. I think it matters more than you're willing to admit. Dad, think about all the years you and Mother have shared in this house, everything you've done. With all that history, can you really marry Donna? Can you really go through with this?
(Doorbell rings)
Stephanie: Oh, I didn't expect to see you here.
Donna: Oh, I, um, just came to clean up and change.
Stephanie: Any change with your sister?
Donna: No. No, not really.
Stephanie: I'm sorry. Uh, look, I just came by to drop this off. Um, packing that up?
Donna: Why should I?
Stephanie: Well, you aren't getting married tomorrow?
Donna: Katie wants me to go ahead with the wedding. I don't know, maybe--maybe I should. Maybe if we all had something to feel good about, she'd have a reason to hold on.
Katie: (Breathing heavily)
Bridget: Katie, Dr. Patrick is on his way.
Brooke: What's happening?
Bridget: It's arrhythmia. Her heart's not beating correctly. We've gotta take action right away.
Dr. Patrick: Excuse me, please. Thank you. All right.
Bridget: Oh, honey.
Dr. Patrick: Can you tell me what the pulse rate is right now?
Woman: Blood pressure is rising--152 over 10.
Dr. Patrick: 152 over 10. Could you elevate her, please? Whoa... yaa... whoo!
Eric: Ridge, it's all over, all right? Your mother and I both signed this.
Ridge: That doesn't mean you have to marry Donna.
Eric: (Chuckles) What are you suggesting? That I leave her at the altar?
Ridge: Just postpone the wedding. Give yourself a little time to figure out what you really want. There's still something between you and Mother.
Eric: There will always be something between your mother and me. We share this family.
Ridge: You always wanted Mother to be less controlling. I'm telling you, she's changed.
Eric: Well, I'd like to believe that, but I refuse to be manipulated.
Ridge: Dad, she's not the same woman that you left. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself. Take a few weeks, spend some time with her. I know you still love Mother.
Eric: I love Donna, Ridge.
Ridge: Love like you had with Mother, hmm? You don't want to compare the two because you can't, because there is no comparison. Yes, maybe Donna's sexy and fun, but at the end of the day, is that really what's gonna be most important to you? Or maybe you need something more.
Stephanie: As I said, I-I just came by to drop this off for you.
Donna: Is it ticking?
Stephanie: No, it's one of the silent ones.
Donna: (Chuckles)
Stephanie: It's information about the house.
Donna: Eric is gonna be handling that.
Stephanie: Oh, it's the kind of information that a new wife needs.
Donna: Advice on how to be a wife to Eric from you? I am really afraid to open it now.
Stephanie: Just trying to be helpful.
Donna: Why?
Stephanie: You know, I'm asking myself that exact question right at this moment. Good-bye.
Donna: No, Stephanie, why? Why are you being so nice to me and my family? I mean, I-it-- do you just feel sorry for us?
Stephanie: Well, of course. I mean, this is a terrible tragedy that's transpired. Your sister's a lovely girl. I hope she recovers. And as a matter of fact, whether you believe me or not, I pray for her every day.
Donna: Thank you. Look, I-I really do have to get back to the hospital. I do appreciate your sincerity during our time of need. After losing my brother, I-I can't even th... think about losing my sister.
Dr. Patrick: I've given Katie medication to control the arrhythmia.
Stephen: And she'll be okay?
Dr. Patrick: The medication should normalize her heart rhythm for the time being, but the arrhythmia is indicative of a more serious problem.
Brooke: Her body's rejecting Storm's heart?
Dr. Patrick: This acute rejection event could become chronic.
Brooke: Katie, Katie, listen to me. Don't do this. I know how you feel. I understand. I know this is hard for you to accept, but you will never regret accepting Storm's gift to you. I promise you that.
Katie: (Moaning)
Stephen: He wanted this, sweetheart. Taking care of you girls was the greatest joy of his life. Now you don't have to condone what he did, but you have to see he did it out of love.
Katie: I don't want Storm's heart. I want Storm. (Crying) I want him back. I want him back. (Gasping) so I'm at my doctor's, again
Ridge: Dad, you can deny it all you want, but I know what Mother means to you.
Eric: Marrying Donna is not gonna change how I feel about your mother.
Ridge: Well, then maybe you're marrying the wrong woman.
Eric: You know, all my memories of being married to your mother are not pleasant.
Ridge: Well, they're not all that bad either, are they?
Eric: No.
Ridge: Okay. Look, I gotta go.
Eric: Good.
Ridge: Dad, do not marry Donna. You're gonna live to regret it. And I'm telling you right now you're gonna want Mother back.
Eric: (Sniffles)
Stephanie: When you have time, I think you'll want to read what's in the envelope. And if you have any questions, it's all right. You call me. But I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to talk before the wedding.
Donna: I'm--I'm not canceling the wedding, Stephanie. Eric and I will be getting married tomorrow. Now I-I really do have to get back to the hospital. So could you please just see yourself out?
(Cell phone rings)
Stephanie: Hello?
Ridge: Hey, I just ran into Dad. I gotta say, he's, uh, kind of torn.
Stephanie: Well, he signed the final divorce papers today. Maybe that's what it's about.
Ridge: Well, if he's so happy to marry Donna, don't you think he'd be doing back flips?
Stephanie: I don't know. She said, uh-- actually, I just saw her, and she said that they're going through with the marriage. If they do, I'm going to be there.
Ridge: What? You gotta be kidding me.
Stephanie: No, I'm not. I want to be there and look him in the eye when he takes those vows, if he can, in our home in front of me, in front of our family. It's gonna be interesting to see what he does. (Soft piano music playing)
Bridget: Katie, Katie, you've got to take a deep breath. Relax. This is not good for you.
Dr. Patrick: Please, I cannot have my patient upset like this.
Stephanie: We are not leaving.
Katie: (Gasping)
Bridget: Good girl, just breathe.
Stephen: Katie, did you hear that? Nobody is going anywhere.
Brooke: Storm hasn't gone anywhere.
Bridget: Mom?
Stephen: No, no.
Brooke: He is right here inside of you, and every breath you take keeps a part of him alive. Katie, Katie?
Bridget: Mom?
Donna: Oh, my God.
Bridget: Oh, mom, you've gotta back up and let the doctor examine her.
Dr. Patrick: Excuse me.
Brooke: Remember what Storm's letter said?
Bridget: It's rising...
Brooke: A part of him will always be with you, Katie, connected forever.
Dr. Patrick: Ms. Logan?
Brooke: Storm said that he would be the voice whispering in your ear. What is he telling you now? I know he didn't want this.
Stephen: He wouldn't want us to lose you, Katie, so keep breathing, honey. Keep breathing. He's here. Storm is here with us right now. Katie?
Storm: I'm here, Katie. I haven't left you. You have my heart. You're gonna share the rest of your life with me. I want it to be a long and happy life. That's why I gave you this gift. Accept it. You can't give up, Katie. Don't throw away two lives. It was my choice, my gift. Accept it. Accept it.
Katie: (Crying) Storm.
Bridget: It's lowering.
Dr. Patrick: Heart rate's improving.
Katie: Storm.
Dr. Patrick: It's improving.
Katie: (Crying) Storm.
Bridget: Good girl.
Dr. Patrick: She's stabilizing.
Donna: Oh, my God.
Stephen: She's gonna make it.
Brooke: Ohh.
Stephen: My baby's gonna make it.
Bridget: Calm down.
Katie: Storm. Storm.
Brooke: (Crying)
Katie: (Breathing heavily)
Brooke: She's gonna be fine.
