Brooke: Oh, if only we could stay in this moment forever-- no worries, no distractions. And this is the one thing that I can truly count on.

Ridge: Can't change the world, can we? Just the way we respond to it, I guess.

Brooke: Huh. Therein lies a dilemma. I mean, how do you do that without hurting the people that you love the most?

Ridge: Don't have an answer for that one. And even if there was an answer, I don't know that I've ever found it. Is there something you want to share with me?

Brooke: It's Bridget. She may be getting back together with Nick, and I'm really worried about her.

Ridge: Well, they two-- they're two adults that were married to each other, so I'm sure they can figure out whether they want to be involved or not.

Ridge: By your expression, you don't, uh, feel that same way.

Brooke: She could really get hurt. I didn't realize that she still had feelings for Nick.

Ridge: Maybe Bridget's gonna get hurt. You can't control her life, Logan. Isn't this what we were talking about?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Ridge: Maybe you just need to step back and let her find out on her own. I got a meeting with Ashley.

Brooke: Ashley?

Ridge: Yeah, the new fragrance line-- we're gonna debut it with the fall line.

Brooke: Shouldn't I be there with you?

Ridge: No, no. I've got it covered. I'll see you later.

Rick's voice: Nick is moving on. If you don't accept that, then Ridge will be the one moving on. And--and who knows? He could end up with Ashley.

Bridget: Mm...

Bridget: (Laughs) I'd say it's about time you woke up, mister.

Nick: I guess you wore me out last night.

Bridget: I certainly hope so. (Laughs)

Nick: (Sighs)

Bridget: (Sighs) God, I wish I could stay in bed with you all day.

Nick: (Groans)

Bridget: But I have a very full morning, and I'm gonna have to get going soon. Look, I know that we're just, you know, taking everything one--one step at a time. But for the record, last night was really fun, and it meant a lot to me. (Gasps) (squeals) (laughs) wow. Good morning. Oh, before I forget, Rick came by and wanted to take Jack to the park. I told him I didn't think you'd mind.

(Door opens)

Taylor: Rick?

Rick: I hope you don't mind me barging in like this, but there's someone who really needs to see you.

Taylor: Oh, my goodness. I didn't--I didn't think I had anybody else on the schedule. I... (gasps) (whispers) ohh... (giggles) ohh... mm. (Laughs)

Katie: Hi.

Nick: You like this house, don't you?

Katie: Actually, I think I left my sweater here last night.

Nick: I haven't seen anything.

Katie: Oh, I'll just take a quick look around. Is, um, Bridget still here?

Nick: No.

Katie: Oh. Um, when did she leave?

Nick: A couple minutes ago, not that it's any of your business.

Katie: Oh, look! Here's my sweater. See? I told you. So she, uh, spent the night, huh? At least tell me you had a good time.

Nick: I had a good time.

Katie: And that's it? That's all? I mean, after I busted my butt to get her over here?

Nick: That's all.

Katie: So that's all? Nothing else?

Nick: Would you like details?

Katie: No, no, no. Forget I asked... just so long as you made her happy. You did make her happy, right?

Ashley: What do you think?

Ridge: Intoxicating.

Ashley: That's the best you can do?

Ridge: Mmm. Okay, okay. Um... wonderful... sophisticated... refreshing and beautiful, much like its creator.

Ashley: Obviously, you haven't lost your charm. Am I blushing?

Ridge: You are on fire, my dear.

Ashley: Mm?

Ridge: Seriously. Your fragrances are a big hit. You've been a big, big, tremendous asset to Forrester Creations.

Ashley: Well, I'm--I'm glad you realize that anyway.

Ridge: I've always appreciated your contribution. Are you kidding me? Now that things are kind of complicated between me and Brooke, I may be appreciating you a lot more.

Ashley: (Sighs) What do you mean by "complicated"?

Taylor: (High-pitched voice) oh, I missed you so much. (Laughs) (normal voice) how did you manage this?

Rick: Well, um, actually, we're kind of supposed to be at the park right now, so I lied. I hope you don't mind.

Taylor: Mind? I could kiss you for this. Oh, I love you so much. (Gasps) I missed you. Do you have any idea how much I missed you? No, of course you don't, but you will because someday, I'm gonna be all better, and you'll be with me with every single day. We won't be apart, not one single minute. That's right. (Sniffles) thank you. Thank you so much.

Rick: Taylor, it is just so great to see you like this. It really is.

Taylor: Well, hmm. I am doing better. I've been working with James almost every day. I've been taking better care of myself. I'm going to A.A. Religiously. And, uh, I've gotten back to work part-time, making connections with other people. Oh, you know what? I had the strangest experience. It's--it's something that I try to get my patients to do all the time. I-I had this realization that I'm not a victim. I don't have to play that role. You know, I-I might have been dealt this hand in life that wasn't exactly, you know, my choice, but I can rise above it. Yes, sweetie, that's right. I don't have to let your mother control my future at all because Jack is my baby, and he always will be. Brooke is not going to be a part of his life, and I don't know why I was even worried. That's right. (Whispers) that's right.

(Knock on door)

Brooke: Mm.

Bridget: Oh, hey, Mom.

Brooke: Oh.

Bridget: I talked to Pam, and she said that I could find you here.

Brooke: Bridget, I'm sorry. I-I'm so sorry about what happened between us last night.

Bridget: I am, too. I-I'm really sorry. I just--I don't know. I-I just got really overwhelmed.

Brooke: So you and Nick...

Bridget: Yeah, we had a-a wonderful night together. I can't remember the last time that I felt this kind of... hap--happiness.

Brooke: (Gasps) I'm so happy for you.

Bridget: Really? 'Cause I'd like you to be.

Brooke: Yes, yes. I-I am, honestly. I-I just was worried about you getting hurt.

Bridget: Mom.

Brooke: I was, honey.

Bridget: Oh.

Brooke: (Crying) You know, I-I'm just-- sometimes, I'm an overprotective mother, and I can't help it. I mean, I still think you're that little girl that scrapes her knee and comes running to me to take care of you.

Bridget: Mom--

Brooke: But I know you're capable of making your own decisions.

Bridget: Yes, and I'm gonna be okay.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Bridget: Nick and I can find our way back to each other. What I'm gonna need from you, though, is I need to be assured that you're not gonna interfere, and you're going to let us solve our own problems.

Brooke: (Sighs) you have it. You don't have to worry about a member of your family taking Nick away from you ever again.

Nick: Did I make her happy? (Clears throat) (Laughs) Well, we both slept well.

Katie: Well, sleep is good. So, uh, where's Bridget now?

Nick: She went to work. She said she had a busy day.

Katie: Do you miss the sea?

Nick: Do I what?

Katie: Last night while I was babysitting while you were, um... well, I-I-I ran across some photos of you on a boat at sea.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah, I do miss it sometimes.

Taylor: Yeah, the last thing I have to do is find a way to work through all this frustration I have about getting Brooke out of my life completely. Hi, sweet pea.

Rick: Well, I can't say that I blame you. I mean, she's definitely hurt you countless times, especially when you were married to Ridge.

Taylor: Mm-hmm. So now I guess she's going to ride off into the sunset with him after all.

Jack: (Fusses)

Rick: Yeah, I'm not too sure about that one.

Ashley: Oh, Ridge, things are always complicated between Brooke and you. There's nothing new about that. Besides, you know, aren't all relationships complicated?

Ridge: When you put it like that, I guess they are.

Ashley: All right, what's going on? You can talk to me. Frankly, I'm surprised that Brooke hasn't dragged you to the altar by now.

Ridge: Oh, it's not for lack of trying.

Ashley: Oh, yeah?

Ridge: The other night, we had another falling-out over the whole Nick/Taylor/Jack episode. She actually got down on one knee and proposed to me. She wanted to get married right there and then.

Ashley: What'd you say?

Ridge: I said no. It just didn't feel right.

Bridget: Mom, I'm not just thinking of myself here. I'm--I am thinking of you and Ridge and what would be best for your relationship.

Brooke: Honey, Ridge and I are fine. Don't give it another thought. I just wish you and Nick the best, and I pray that he's not going to let you down.

Bridget: I have to do this, Mom. I have to. I just have to take this chance at finding happiness.

Katie: Is it the sea you miss, or is it your other life?

Nick: Well, I've been around the sea my whole life. It's in my blood.

Katie: That doesn't really answer my question.

Nick: No, I guess not. (Groans) Well, you know, life changes. Things change. You just learn to roll with it.

Katie: Hmm.

Nick: Would you like some coffee? Bridget made a pot before she left.

Katie: Sure. Thanks.

Nick: How do you take it? Cream? Sugar?

Katie: Uh, no, I like it unadorned.

Nick: Why am I not surprised? You seem like a lady who likes her coffee black. The stronger, the better.

Katie: Hmm. Mmm. It's good, strong.

Nick: Yeah. That's how Bridget likes it.

Ridge: I'm sorry. You do not need to be involved in my business with Brooke.

Ashley: Oh, it's okay. I mean, I guess everybody needs, um, a friend to talk to. I'm not gonna go running to Brooke and rub it in, not that I would mind that much. Yeah, uh...

Ridge: (Chuckles)

Ashley: I think you need to know something, though. Now that you didn't accept Brooke's proposal to run off and elope, you're probably questioning her feelings, right? And I don't blame you. I mean, nobody likes to get hurt. 'Cause, you know, when our short engagement ended, I was-- well, I was hurt. Um, I guess what I'm trying to say is that... um, I'm not a doormat, okay? Not for you, and not for any man, okay?

Ridge: Ashley, I realize that. I know that well. You are a tremendous, amazing woman. (Sighs) I'm always gonna care for you.

Ashley: Okay. Thank you. I'll always care for you, too.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Rick: My mom asked Ridge to elope with her, but he turned her down.

Taylor: Well, doesn't that just serve her right? As much as I'd like to stand here and gloat, I think I'd rather spend my precious time with my baby boy and focus all my attention on you. That's right. Oops.

Rick: Ooh, Taylor, speaking of precious time, we have so precious little of it. I arranged to drop the baby off with Jackie.

Taylor: Here. Oh, already?

Rick: I know. I'm sorry.

Taylor: No, no, no, no. It's too soon. Oh, I want to spend more time with you. Sweetheart, it breaks my heart to leave you.

Jack: (Grunts)

Taylor: I don't want to be away from you. (Sighs) thank you. Thank you so much for bringing him to me. I don't know how to thank you enough.

Rick: You just make sure that Jack stays yours for the rest of your life, okay?

Taylor: Well, that's exactly what I intend to do. Are you sure you're Brooke's son?

Rick: I am, yes. (Laughs)

Taylor: Hmm.

Rick: Look, Taylor, I just--I want you to know that ever since we--we kissed, I've just been consumed with thoughts of you.

Jack: (Grunts)

Taylor: I think your mother would go ballistic if she heard you say that.

Rick: Yes, I know she--she will. Um, she's not gonna be thrilled when she finds out how I feel about you, but...

Jack: (Fussing)

Rick: Taylor, I'm a grown man, and I know what I want, and I want you.

Jack: (Cooing)

Bridget: So, Mom, you're telling me how committed you are to Ridge. You need to make sure that you don't send any mixed signals to Nick. He needs to be clear. So no meetings at Insomnia, no holding hands. I need to believe you this time. You've hurt me too many times in the past. I-I-I don't want us to go through that again. If I get my heart broken and I lose Nick, I can deal with that. But what I can't deal with is losing him one more time to you.

Brooke: Honey, I will not interfere. I will not stand between you and Nick. That is my promise to you.

Bridget: 'Cause without you in the picture, Mom, I think that we can make it this time. Things can happen. As a matter of fact, I know it can happen, 'cause there's no one that's gonna stand in our way.

Katie: (Sighs) Okay, let's just, um, cut to it. I-I'm not really here for my sweater. I-I don't want any coffee. I just--I want to know what's going on.

Nick: What would you like me to say?

Katie: I would like you to say that you had a wonderful time last night, that you and Bridget had a fabulous night.

Nick: We did.

Katie: Okay, how about a little enthusiasm?

Nick: You're awfully nosy.

Katie: I am not!

Nick: You ask a lot of questions.

Katie: Well, I have a vested interest. I am responsible, in a way, for this. I encouraged Bridget to come over here and try to get back her life with you.

Nick: Well, maybe you should stay out of other people's lives.

Katie: You know, that girl adores you. And she wants nothing more than to have a life with you and--and--and make you happy and take care of your son. You guys have so much history together. I just don't believe that you don't still have feelings for her.

Nick: I do have feelings for Bridget.

Katie: (Sighs) Well, are they for real? Because if they're not, then--then I have made a big mistake encouraging this. I mean, I-- Bridget should run from you as fast as she possibly can. I had you pegged for a stand-up guy, but--but I'm afraid that I've misread things. You wouldn't sleep with Bridget if you still were hung up on Brooke, would you? Nick, you wouldn't do that.
