Nick: let's have it, Brooke. What do you want to do? What does the future hold for you and me?

Ridge: Just wanted to see how things were going with you and Dad.

Stephanie: Well, it's wonderful having him back home.

Ridge: The way it's supposed to be, huh?

Stephanie: I hope so. (Laughs)

Ridge: You hope so? I thought you were feeling more confident than that.

Eric: Ridge, I didn't know you were here. That's a nice surprise.

Ridge: Hey, Dad, just came by to see how things are going on the home front.

Eric: Everything's going fine. You can see that.

Ridge: Yeah, so it seems.

Stephanie: Uh, so you off somewhere?

Eric: Yeah, just a-a meeting I have to get to, and I'm, uh, late as it is. I'll see you later.

Ridge: Dad appears to be in good spirits.

Stephanie: Yes, he does, doesn't he?

Ridge: Mother, what's really going on here?

Stephanie: Oh, I-I don't know if it's anything really to be concerned about. I just--

Ridge: But you do seem concerned.

Stephanie: I've lived with Eric my entire adult life. He's pretty easy for me to read.

Ridge: He seems kind of happy-go-lucky, considering the circumstances.

Stephanie: You've noticed that as well?

Ridge: Yes. I'm the one that said before Donna was one heck of a whirlwind. There's no doubt about that.

Stephanie: That's not exactly what I'd call her.

Ridge: I know what you'd call her.

Stephanie: Yeah, I know those girls and their family.

Ridge: Mother, don't.

Stephanie: They're not to be trusted.

Ridge: Don't start, okay?

Stephanie: Yeah. Look, this isn't about you and Brooke, okay? That's your business.

Ridge: Thank you.

Stephanie: But Eric and Donna are mine. And if I thought that he was seeing her again. I mean, he has to know that I'd find that out.

Ridge: And there'd be hell to pay, huh?

Katie: So you agree with me? Brooke's future is with Ridge.

Bridget: Well, yeah. I mean, she's been in love with the guy since she was a teenager.

Katie: Well, hopefully, she's talking to Nick, and, hopefully, she's ending it.

Bridget: Yeah, let's see if she's able to do that.

Katie: What do you mean?

Bridget: Once Nick gets a handle on you, it's hard to let go sometimes.

Katie: And you're speaking from experience?

Bridget: Well, I mean, you know our story, Katie. We've been through so much together. It's just...

Katie: Do you still love him?

Bridget: You know, I-I probably always will be. If we just hadn't lost our little girl...

Katie: You know, something good might come out of this for you.

Bridget: What are you talking about?

Katie: Well, Brooke's seeing Nick. Hopefully, she's breaking things off with him.

Bridget: Look, Katie, please, just, uh, don't go there.

Katie: Why not? You loved each other once. You should be raising a child together.

Brooke: I was blindsided by what Taylor did, leaving you and Jack.

Nick: Brooke, our marriage was never gonna work once Taylor found out the truth about Jack. Once she found out that you were the biological mother, it was too difficult for her. You are the only one who can love this boy. I see the way you feel about him, and I know the way you feel about me.

Brooke: We will always have strong feelings for each other, always. But we have other lives. I'm engaged to Ridge.

Nick: It's not gonna work with Forrester.

Brooke: I love him, Nick.

Nick: You love him more than me?

Brooke: I love you, too.

Nick: Huh.

Brooke: I can't deny that. But we both know what it's like to be in love with two people at the same time.

Brooke: I am going to marry Ridge, and we're going to raise our son together. It's what R.J. deserves. Now I made my decision many months ago.

Nick: Oh, many months? A lot's happened since then.

Brooke: Yes, it has, and I've agonized over what to do.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: But I-I do believe that my decision is right, and I'm staying by it.

Nick: Well, I respect that. You know, Brooke, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Stephanie: If he's still with Donna, I-I can't tell you how much that would hurt me. I want to believe in Eric. I need to believe in him.

Ridge: Mother, you don't know that this is definitely happening.

Stephanie: No, but I think I have to find out.

Ridge: You always said that it was gonna just take some time with Dad.

Stephanie: Yes. Yes, yes, I-- but if he's still seeing her...

Ridge: You also said that relationship would eventually run its course.

Stephanie: I know, but what if I'm wrong?

Eric: Hey. Oh, ooh, I love this. I love your new look.

Donna: (Laughs)

Eric: It's good. Let me see. Yeah. Tell me you're wearing nothing under this coat.

Donna: Well, you're just gonna have to wait and see.

Eric: Yeah?

Donna: And tell me nobody saw you coming here, okay?

Eric: Nobody saw me. I was very careful. I drove a different car. Tell me you're wearing nothing under this coat.

Donna: (Laughs) Happy Valentine's!

Eric: Thank you. Thank you. Mm. You, too. I got you something. Here.

Donna: Oh, my God. You shouldn't have.

Eric: I wanted to.

Donna: (Gasps)

Donna: They're beautiful.

Eric: You're beautiful.

Donna: Oh, now it's gonna make my present look so stupid.

Eric: No, it's not. Nothing you've ever given me is anything short of wonderful.

Donna: Okay, hold this.

Eric: Okay.

Donna: (Laughs)

Eric: (Clears throat)

Donna: You get it? Honey bear for my honey bear?

Eric: (Chuckles)

Donna: (Giggles)

Eric: Yes, I get it.

Donna: See, I was thinking that, um, we could have some fun with the honey...

Eric: Mmm.

Donna: Honey bear. (Laughs)

Eric: Mmm.

Donna: Good?

Eric: I think maybe we can.

Bridget: Katie, I know that you mean well. I do. But you--surely, you understand why I'm a little gun-shy when it comes to Nick, you know?

Katie: I know that your marriage to Nick ended because of Brooke, but maybe it was never really given a chance.

Bridget: Believe me, I've logged in plenty of time considering that. Yeah, Nick was the love of my life, but it just didn't work out for us. So I've been forced to let him go, and I had to move on.

Katie: But you haven't. You haven't moved on. That's clear. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity for you to find your way back to each other.

Bridget: (Sighs) I don't know, Katie. I don't know. I--

Katie: Not many people get a second chance at true love.

Bridget: Katie, I really don't want to be pushed on Nick.

Katie: No, that's not what I'm talking about, but at the same time, you can't just wait around and expect him to ride in on his white horse. I have an idea.

Bridget: That's not what I'm doing.

Katie: How about I be your agent? Yeah? Come on. Everyone in L.A. has one. Why not you? This makes sense. You and Nick--you just fit. You can have the life you always wanted.

Bridget: (Laughs) You're crazy, but it sounds tempting...

Katie: (Laughs)

Bridget: Very tempting. It's just-- it's not that easy. It's dangerous, and I'm just vulnerable when it comes to Nick.

Katie: Well, obviously, Nick is vulnerable right now, too. He's alone. He needs someone in his life, and it's not Brooke. It's you.

Brooke: Mm. Nick, did you hear me? Didn't you even listen to what I said?

Nick: I heard everything that you said, but you can't get around the truth. Jack has two biological parents. That's me and you, and nothing's ever gonna change that. And one day, this three-ring circus you got going with Forrester is eventually gonna end, and you're gonna realize that that boy upstairs that you love so much is here for a reason, and you love me for a reason. Those are the facts, baby, and I'm stickin' to 'em.

Donna: We certainly got ourselves into a sticky situation.

Eric: (Laughs)

Donna: (Giggles)

Eric: We did. We did, yep. It's gonna be kind of hard to pull us apart now. You're sort of stuck with me forever.

Donna: (Laughs) mm. That's the way I want it. I told you we'd put the honey to good use.

Eric: You certainly did.

Donna: Yeah.

Eric: It was very sweet, too. (Moans) this was a perfect valentine's gift. Thank you.

Donna: You know, I-I just-- I can't stop thinking about Stephanie...

Eric: Oh, Donna, stop it. Stop it.

Donna: And all the influence that she has on you, your--your entire family. You share so many memories.

Eric: Yeah. Listen. My family's very precious to me. They really are. I treasure my children and all the memories I share with them, but it wasn't all good, you know? Donna, Stephanie and I are finished. She's blackmailing you. She's threatening your family.

Donna: (Sighs)

Eric: She's not the kind of woman I want to live my life with. Look, she's mean-spirited, and she's selfish, and she is controlling. And she needs to have everything the way she wants it, and she's not gonna change. She's incapable of change.

Ridge: Want my advice? Probably not, but I'll give it to you anyway. Be careful before you act on this, Mother. Think about what happens after, what you really hope to gain. You're not gonna win Dad back by ripping him apart. He needs your love.

Stephanie: If he even wants it after all these years. It'd be my own fault, I suppose.

Ridge: Give Dad a chance. Show him how much he means to you, how much you care about him.

Stephanie: You know, in all honesty, if I were to catch them together, I don't know if I could be that magnanimous.

Ridge: Well, that's ultimately up to you. Do what you will. You always do.

Bridget: This is probably gonna sound a little, uh, strange to you, but... I have this crazy bond with Jack.

Katie: That doesn't sound strange.

Bridget: Really? 'Cause I just feel like I'm the one to blame for this whole mix-up in the lab thing, and I feel partly responsible for that child's well-being, almost like a mother.

Katie: That makes sense. That's why you need to be there for Jack and for Nick.

Bridget: Okay, just hypothetically, let's just say I go there and I allow myself to love them, and it doesn't work out again. So I'm just gonna have my heart ripped out one more time? (Voice breaking) Katie, a day doesn't go by that I don't think about my little girl. (Sobbing) I just wonder, you know, what kind of life-- what kind of life I would have had if-- if Nicole had just-- if she had just lived. I'm sorry. (Sobs) there's this box I keep in the house... with all the things that I just couldn't get rid of after she died. There's this little pink crocheted sweater that I made for her when we found out she was a girl and this sailor hat that Nick got for her. It was-- it's so cute. (Sniffles) (normal voice) that's all I have left of that life. (Sniffles) that's all I have left of my little girl, except, of course, you know, mm, what I feel in my heart.

Katie: You've gotta take this opportunity. You have to. You have to do it for yourself. You have to do it for Jack, for Nick, even for Nicole.

Bridget: (Sobs)

Katie: You have to give yourself a chance to be happy with Nick again. (Sniffles)

Bridget: (Sighs) Oh.

Brooke: Nick, you have to let me go. (Sighs) I made a commitment to Ridge, and I have to honor that commitment. Don't you see how hard this is for me? I-I have two families. I have Ridge, Hope and R.J. and you and Jack. Now somebody is going to lose out here, and I-I have no choice.

Nick: Yeah, that's a tough spot. I would hate to be you.

Brooke: Will you stop being so...

Nick: So what, Brooke?

Brooke: So... I don't know. So you!

Nick: Oh. Careful, beautiful. You're startin' to act like you like me again. I felt like I was always cleaning, every day.

Donna: Mm.

Eric: Wait, there's some right here.

Donna: Happy Valentine's day, baby.

Eric: Mmm.

Donna: (Giggles)

Eric: Okay. Look at you.

Donna: Mm.

Eric: When I look at you, I'm just amazed.

Donna: (Laughs) yeah?

Eric: I'm amazed at what you've brought to my life. I didn't think my life could change this beautifully, especially at my age.

Donna: Your age, my darling, has not slowed you down one bit. (Giggles)

Eric: Come here.

Donna: Oh, you see?

Eric: Mm.

Donna: You're ready for another go-around, aren't you?

Eric: Mm-hmm.

Donna: I can barely keep up with you.

Eric: Ah, you're doing okay.

Donna: (Laughs)

Eric: You're doing all right.

Donna: Mm-hmm.

Eric: Mm.

Donna: Mm. You're an insatiable lover, Eric. I don't know where in the world you get your stamina, hmm? (Giggles)

Eric: (Chuckles)

Stephanie: Your father is using these, and not with me.

Ridge: Mother, how do you know that?

Stephanie: I found them in his shaving kit, and it makes me-- it makes me think that he's with Donna right now.

Ridge: You came to this conclusion by counting Dad's pills?

Stephanie: I know it's rather adolescent behavior on my part, but... (sighs) you--you said it. You said this is a very sudden reconciliation, and I've been suspicious that he's been lying to me.

Ridge: Mother, you don't know that for sure.

Stephanie: No, I don't know it for sure. But the idea of him rolling around in the sack with that girl, I... if I were to find the two of them together, I... (sighs) you know, whatever happens is gonna be their fault. There are consequences for everything that we do, real consequences.

Brooke: Ugh! You make me crazy! I-I-I am leaving.

Nick: Well, it's a shame to see you go.

Brooke: Why? Why is that a shame?

Nick: Well, it just doesn't seem to me like you got what you wanted.

Brooke: No, I didn't get what I wanted. Did you get what you wanted?

Nick: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, I got what I wanted. I can see the look in your eyes that you still love me.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Nick: Tell me, Brooke, what do you want, huh? Help me here. What do you really want? Do you want me to crawl on my knees and beg you to choose me?

Brooke: No.

Nick: Do you want me to throw you on the couch and make love to you?

Brooke: No.

Nick: Well, then please, help me. Tell me, what is it that you want?

Brooke: (Sighs) I want you to understand my position. I want you to love me enough to want what's best for me. I want you to love me enough to let me go. Please, Nick, let me go. Do you love me that much?

Nick: I can do all of that. I do understand your position, and I do know how hard this is for you, and I do want what's best for you. But I don't believe that Forrester's the answer, and I do love you enough to let you go... if that's what you want. Tell me that's what you want. Do you want me to let you go?

Brooke: (Whispers) No. (Sobbing) no, I don't.
