Eric: My God! You're telling me that Storm is the person who shot Stephanie?
Donna: Yes. Yes, and she's gonna go to the police. God, Eric, you have to help me.
Eric: Oh, jeez. (Groans) when--um, when did you see Stephanie? When did you see her?
Donna: She-- she was just here. My God, Eric, she's blackmailing me. She wants you back, and she's gonna stop at nothing until she gets that.
Taylor: (Inhales deeply) (exhales slowly)
Taylor: (Sighs)
Nick: Oh, hey, Taylor.
Taylor: Oh! What--hey, why didn't you call me first? I thought you were gonna call. I just put the baby down.
Nick: Oh. Uh, I'm sorry. I just thought I'd come over and see-- you're doing so much better. I'm so happy about that. You look good.
Taylor: I feel great. I haven't felt this good in a long time.
Nick: Right.
Taylor: It's all because of you and how much you've supported me and hung in there with me.
Nick: Well, I really believe that's the key is the support, all the support you can get. So I-I went ahead and, um, I called in a little backup for support. Come on in, backup.
Taylor: James!
James: Hello.
Taylor: Oh, my God.
James: Long time, no see!
Taylor: What are you doing here?
James: I thought it was time I checked on my beautiful colleague, and I want to meet your new son. Where is little Jack? I'm anxious to meet the newest member of your family.
Katie: Donna knows what's at stake. The last thing she wants is for Storm to go to jail. She'll do it. She'll end things with Eric.
Stephanie: I certainly hope so. Otherwise, you and Donna and the rest of the family is gonna spend a lot of time visiting him in a penitentiary.
Eric: Donna, here, sit. Sit down. I-I want to talk to you. I want you to tell me how this happened and what-- why--why did Stephanie want to see you?
Donna: Stephanie wants you back.
Eric: She knows that's not gonna happen.
Donna: Oh, Eric, actually, she is counting on that happening.
Eric: What, she's still under the delusion that what you and I have is not real?
Donna: That's what she wants me to tell you and--and make you believe it.
Eric: Wait, she told you to tell me that?
Donna: That's what I had to tell you when you walked through the door, or else she's going to turn the person in who shot her-- my brother.
Eric: What? (Sighs) look, Donna, this doesn't make any sense at all. Storm could not possibly have been the person who shot Stephanie. Now look, Stephanie's trying to pull something over on you.
Donna: I wish you were right.
Eric: No, don't-- don't you remember? I mean, Storm was on the phone with--with, lieu-- Lt. Baker's son when Stephanie was shot.
Donna: But he did it. He muted the phone long enough to fire one shot.
Eric: Storm muted the phone?
Donna: When he fired the gun.
Eric: And then he went right back to his conversation? Oh, my God. That's un-- and he's waltzing around Forrester, assuring everybody that everything's gonna be all right? Parading around, being the big protector to his sisters? Assuring both of our families that everything is under control? And now you're telling me he's the one that shot Stephanie? We have to call the police.
Donna: Oh, no. No, don't! Please, don't. Eric, don't call them. Don't turn Storm in.
Taylor: Here, I want you to meet James, Dr. Warwick, only the greatest psychiatrist in the whole world...
Nick: Yeah.
Taylor: Who came all the way from New York to meet you.
James: Ohh. Hello there, new friend.
Jack: (Squeals)
James: Wow.
Taylor: (Laughs)
James: What a handsome, little chap you are. Look at you!
Taylor: Yeah, he's pretty special.
James: Wow.
Jack: (Fussing)
James: Ohh. To look at you, you wouldn't know what you've been through, born with a weak immune system and then undergoing a transplant. He's quite a little trooper.
Taylor: Yeah. It's been a rough road for all of us.
James: Well, I know, but especially for you.
Taylor: Of course. I mean, I-I told you everything about his medical condition. I kept e-mailing you all those questions, so...
James: Well, that's not what I'm talking about. Nick told me the whole story, Taylor. I know who Jack's biological mother is.
Taylor: Oh.
Jack: (Grunts)
Taylor: Oh.
Nick: Hey. I just thought it was best that he know everything. If he's really gonna support you, it just seems as though he should be updated on what went on.
Taylor: No, it's okay. No, I'm glad you called him. I-I-I know that I'll probably need somebody to help me stay centered and focused, and that's what makes you so wonderful, is because you know that I need that kind of support.
Jack: (Coos)
Katie: Donna doesn't want Storm to go to jail. She'll do what's best for him, what's best for our family.
Stephanie: Well, we're about to find out, aren't we? Whether she is, uh, capable of putting someone else first. For your brother's sake, I hope she is capable of that.
Eric: Don't turn him in? Do you realize what you just told me, Donna? That your brother, in a cold and calculating way, came up with a plan to try to kill my wife. Isn't that--isn't that the-- the crux of the matter here?
Donna: Well, yes, but--
Eric: Well, then he needs to be in jail. I'm sorry it's your brother we're talking about, but he needs to be in jail.
Donna: He was--he was pushed over the edge, Eric.
Eric: Oh, you think? Yeah, I guess he was.
Donna: Look, he's not a bad person.
Eric: (Sighs)
Donna: It's just that Stephanie has done so many horrible things to my family, he couldn't take it anymore.
Eric: It does not give him license to try to kill somebody.
Donna: I know that. He knows that. He knows what he did was wrong, and if he could take it back, he would. Look, he's sorry for what he did.
Eric: Well, for him to be sorry is grossly inadequate, Donna.
Donna: Look, my brother needs help, the kind of help he won't get in prison. I don't think he can survive it.
Eric: So what, he's supposed to just be allowed to, uh-- to walk free out on the streets? (Indistinct) that can't happen, Donna. After everything you've told me, you wanted me to just forget about this?
Donna: You know, maybe I-I shouldn't have told you. Maybe I should have just gone along with Stephanie and--and pretended like I hated you and I didn't want to see you again. I can't lie well enough to make you believe I don't love you and that I don't want to spend a life with you, but that's what Stephanie wanted to keep my brother out of jail. She thought it was a fair trade-- my brother for you.
Eric: So this is Stephanie's plan? She masterminded this whole thing, this--this--this blackmail?
Donna: Yes.
Eric: Am I getting this right?
Donna: Yes. Yes, she made it very clear. In order to keep my brother out of jail, I had to close the door on you forever. Excuse me. Do you have a second?
James: There's such a long history between you and Brooke, and she was once married to Nick. This must be very hard on you. You can tell me anything. Tell me the truth. How are you coping with this?
Nick: I love that boy! As soon as he hits the crib, he is out.
Nick: Listen, um, I'm gonna head out for a while and give you guys a chance to catch up, okay?
Taylor: No, I wanted you to stay for a little bit, sweetie. It's really important to me that you get to know James.
James: It's really important to me that you make Taylor happy. That's all I need to know.
Nick: Well, I do hope I make her happy, and our goal is to make our son happy. Again, thanks for coming in like this. I hope you're gonna stay for a while.
James: I'll stay as long as I can. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for Taylor.
Taylor: And thank you for the surprise.
Nick: Mm.
Taylor: I really needed to see James.
Nick: And I need to see that smile on your face. I really do have to check back in at the office, okay? So I'll be home a bit later.
Taylor: Okay.
James: You didn't answer my question. Tell me the truth. How are you dealing with this?
Katie: You know, Stephanie, if you had ever given Donna a chance, you would realize that she's not the tramp you think she is. Yes, we have different ways of dealing with things, but family means more to her than anything else. She'll do what's right for Storm. She'll do what's right for the family.
Stephanie: I know that's what you want her to do, and so do I. Let's hope she does. Otherwise, it's bye-bye to your brother for a long, long time.
Katie: (Sighs) What is taking her so long? (Sighs) I gotta find out what's going on.
Donna: Stephanie is using this to break us up and to try to get you back in her clutches. That's the deal for Storm's freedom. I break it off with you, and she tries to get you back, and she stays quiet about Storm.
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: I mean, don't you see? This isn't about justice. It's about Stephanie getting what Stephanie wants, Stephanie controlling everybody's life.
Eric: Yeah. Oh, Donna, this is-- this is an unbelievable situation.
Donna: I know. I know. I'm sorry.
Eric: Well, you're right about one thing. She hasn't changed one bit. She wastes no opportunity to get everything the way she wants it, just exactly the way she wants it.
Donna: (Sighs)
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: I don't know what we should do. I mean, maybe--maybe we should just give in to her.
Eric: Where is Storm now?
Donna: Well, I'm hoping that he--he went to Paris to meet my dad. I mean, Katie and I told him just to get the hell out of town.
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: I hope he listened.
Eric: That would be best, yeah.
Donna: What are you gonna do?
Eric: I'm not sure.
Donna: Look, I want a life with you, Eric. I want that more than anything. I just can't help worrying about my brother.
Eric: (Sighs) All right. Look, if you, uh-- if you hear from Storm, you make certain that he is on a plane somewhere far, far away. You understand?
Donna: Wait. No, wait. You can't go to Stephanie.
Eric: No, I-I have to see Stephanie. I can't just do nothing.
Donna: She wants me to be done with you, and if--if she hears anything else, anything else, Eric--
Eric: Look, I think we can beat her at her own game. See?
Donna: Maybe the best thing is if I just get the hell out of L.A.
Eric: No. No, Donna. No, I'm not giving up on you. Now look, I... I have an idea.
Donna: (Sighs) What?
Eric: (Sighs) I'm gonna convince Stephanie that I've seen the light where you're concerned, that I realize that you, uh-- you've been using me.
Donna: And that's gonna help us?
Eric: Yeah. I will tell her that I'm getting you out of my life completely. I'll start by, uh-- I'll fire you from Forrester. And then, uh-- then I'll move back in with Stephanie.
Donna: Oh, Eric, no.
Eric: Donna, I'll just-- I'll just move back in. I-I won't share a bed with her. I'm just gonna do enough and say enough to convince her that you've made good on her blackmail threat.
Donna: Eric, I-I don't know. I...
Eric: It'll work. It has to work, honey. I'm not gonna let go of you. You mean too much to me. We can do that.
Donna: And--and you think she's gonna buy it?
Eric: Yes. Yes, I think she will. I'm sure she will. I don't think it ever occurred to her that you would tell me the whole truth. Stephanie's never trusted anybody in her life enough to tell them the whole truth about anything, not the way you just told me. That's to our advantage. Now look, in time, Stephanie's gonna realize that what she and I have together is just-- it's just an empty shell. It's nothing. And then she'll let me go, and you and I will be together, and we will have our future together, everything that you and I have ever wanted together. We will. I promise.
Donna: (Sighs)
Taylor: Hey. I thought you might like some coffee after your long flight. Here we go.
James: Thank you very much. I need that. I know you've had a rough time. Not so long ago, you had a battle with alcohol. Nick told me that he was concerned that you might have started drinking again.
Taylor: (Scoffs) He told you about that?
James: He did, but then he said, there was nothing to worry about, that you were doing much better.
Taylor: I am. I'm doing much better, and I'm glad you're here. Look at me. I'm beaming. I'm doing great. Look, there's nothing to worry about.
James: Would you tell me if there were?
Taylor: Positively. I've got everything under control.
Donna: Oh, God, you have to get Stephanie to believe you. Our future is at stake. My brother's freedom is at stake. Oh, God, it has to work. It has to. (Knock on door)
Stephanie: Eric, hello.
Eric: Hey. Donna told me that you were back in town.
Stephanie: Y-yes, I just got here. Uh, how are you? You seem upset. Has this got something to do with Donna?
Eric: Why-- why would you ask me that?
Stephanie: From the look on your face. What's happened?
Eric: (Sighs) You were right. She was just, uh-- she was just using me.
Stephanie: How did you find that out?
Eric: There was another man, and actually, I knew there had been others, you know. And, uh, she finally admitted that she didn't really love me, that she was just, uh, using me, and...
Stephanie: I'm sorry.
Eric: I should have listened to you all along. You, uh-- you told me that she wasn't sincere.
Stephanie: I guess you were just caught up in something--
Eric: Look, I just don't, uh-- I don't want to talk about it. She-- she--she was just using me.
Stephanie: I'm sorry. I can see that she's really hurt you.
Eric: (Sighs)
Stephanie: But I have to say I... that I'm glad, finally, you've seen the light.
Eric: I'm glad to be able to talk to you. I am. I need to talk about this.
Stephanie: Eric, we're married a long, long time. You know you can always talk to me about anything.
