Nick: I'd say I'm surprised to see you, but I'm not.

Brooke: (Laughs) I guess I am spending a lot of time here lately, and so are you.

Nick: Well, I need my coffee. What's your excuse?

Brooke: (Sighs) This morning, I need my coffee, too.

Nick: Hmm. Dare I ask why?

Brooke: Hope had a school project that was due today.

Nick: Ah...

Brooke: Mm-hmm. It was a diorama of the pioneers.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: We had to build a complete log cabin. And R.J. thought it was really cool, so, of course, he had to jump in.

Nick: (Winces)

Brooke: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Uh-oh.

Brooke: It was fun. It was a family affair. Those are the kind of memories that you hope last a lifetime.

Nick: Well, I'm lookin' forward to it. It is what it's all about, isn't it? Family.

Brooke: I really hate to ask, but... (sighs) I can't help it. How are Taylor and Jack?

Taylor: Look here. Look, I think we have great-grandma's urn. It's pretty cool, huh? And right here, we have Stephanie's academy award. Isn't that awesome? Yeah.

(Doorbell rings)

Taylor: Okay. Let's go see who's at the door. Should we answer it? All right.

Jackie: Hi.

Taylor: Hi. Nick's not here.

Jackie: Oh, who needs him? I came for this little guy.

Taylor: All righty. Okay, be my guest.

Jackie: Come on, sweetheart. (Laughs) oh, my goodness. What's going on here?

Taylor: Uh, I was, um, cleaning out Jack's closet to make a little space for him and just came across all this stuff. And you know how one project leads to another?

Jackie: Oh, yeah.

Taylor: And before you know it, I've got a bunch of stuff here and--

Jackie: These look like... Massimo's ties?

Taylor: Yeah, do you want those?

Jackie: Oh, God.

Taylor: Uh, donate? Okay, I can see why.

Jackie: It's always good to get rid of excess baggage, isn't it? (Laughs) And those certainly qualify as excess baggage.

Taylor: Well, the truth is, um, you know, Nick and I just got married, and I moved right in. And we never got a chance to decorate, put our own style here...

Jackie: Mm.

Taylor: And get our china pattern or any of that. And I-I just-- we wanted to build our own memories and decorate with our own things. And I just thought that it'd be better if we didn't have leftovers from what he had with...

Jackie: The leftovers of what he had with Brooke?

Brooke: Nick, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought up Taylor. I just can't help but be concerned.

Nick: Please, you don't have to apologize to me. Jack is part of you. You have every right to be concerned. I took a stand with Taylor. I told her that I love her, I'm committed to her and I want a life with her on the condition that she can love our child.

Brooke: How did she react?

Nick: She heard me.

Brooke: That's good. I'm glad to hear that.

Nick: And I am committed to this. She will be the mother that Jack needs. I believe that.

Brooke: I hope you're right, for all of our sakes.

Jackie: (Whispers) See you later. (Normal voice) well, I'm gonna leave you to your project.

Taylor: Okay. If I find anything I think is yours, I'll let you know, and you can see if you want it.

Jackie: Thank you, darling. I wonder if I have left anything of importance in this house. You know, it's one of life's greatest pleasures to rediscover something that you thought... (poof) lost it forever. (Laughs)

Taylor: I don't want to give you the wrong impression about what I said earlier, but I just still feel remnants of Brooke's presence in this house, and I-I think if I decorate it where it feels more like my home, then it'll change some of that.

Jackie: Yeah, of course. I-I understand that. But you mustn't forget that Nick and Brooke-- they--they never lived in this house together. So if you are feeling Brooke's presence, it's imaginary. And I know you don't want to hear this... (sighs) but no amount of organizing, donating silly ties to charity is going to erase Brooke from your life.

Taylor: That is where you're wrong. I'm going to get Brooke out of my mind, out of this house and out of my life completely.

Jackie: Well, I'm sure you know best, dear.

Taylor: Oh, okay. I'll see you later.

Jackie: Bye now.

Taylor: (Sighs) Okay, back to work.

(Object scraping against house) (wind howling) (object scraping against house)

Taylor: Oh.

Taylor: (Gasps)

Taylor: (Whispers) he saved all these. (Scoffs) why would he save these pictures?

(Knock on door) (knock on door)

Rick: Taylor, hi.

Taylor: Oh.

Rick: Um, do you mind if I come in? It's a little windy out here.

Taylor: Oh, of course.

Rick: Thank you. (Laughs) (sighs) jeez. Um, I'm sorry to--to stop by unannounced like this. I, uh-- I've had this gift in my car for the longest time, and I was in your neighborhood, so, uh, here.

Taylor: Oh, thanks.

Rick: I really am happy for--for you and Nick.

Taylor: Well, um, this is nice. I, um--I'm gonna open it when--when Nick comes home.

Rick: Oh, yeah. Okay, sure. I-I hope you don't already have one. There is a gift receipt, uh, if you need it.

Taylor: Okay, thanks.

Rick: You okay?

Taylor: Mm... (sighs) I-I'm okay.

Rick: You sure? I mean, was it something I said?

Taylor: No, it's not you. It isn't you.

Rick: Is it, um... is it my mom again?

Taylor: (Sighs)

Rick: I just figure every time you see me, you--you see her.

Taylor: Why would you say that?

Rick: Um, I-I don't know. I didn't mean anything by it. Is that Jack?

Taylor: Oh, yeah.

Rick: Can I--can I see him? (Clears throat) Oh, Taylor, he's so cute. (Laughs) he's the spitting image of his mother.

(Taylor hallucinating Brooke)

Brooke: Mm. (Laughs) what can I say? He's right.

Taylor: (Gasping)

Rick: Taylor? What's wrong? Oh, my God. Taylor? Taylor, are you okay?

Taylor: (Panting)

Rick: Taylor, talk to me.

Nick: Listen, I want to thank you. You did the right thing yesterday by bringing Jack to me. If she'd have been drinking around that boy, I...

Brooke: Well, that's what worries me. I mean, yesterday, she poured the alcohol. But how do you know that next time, she's not going to drink it?

Nick: Well, no one ever knows. I'll keep an eye out. I am committed to this, Brooke.

Brooke: You are such a wonderful man. Taylor is really lucky to have you.

Nick: You had me once.

Brooke: I haven't forgotten.

Rick: Taylor? Just--here, sit down. Sit down right here. Easy. Easy. Are you okay?

Taylor: (Gasping) I'll be okay.

Rick: Are you sure? I could call a doctor right now if you want me to.

Taylor: (Gasps) (breathlessly) I'm just, um... I've been having these-- these panic attacks recently. (Inhales) (exhales)

Rick: I'm sorry. This is just a little strange for me. I mean, you're--you're Taylor. You're supposed to be strong, and you don't have panic attacks. I'm just a little confused as to what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Water--do--do you--I can get-- do you want some water?

Taylor: Yeah.

Rick: I'll get you some.

Taylor: That--that helps.

Rick: Okay. Look, I-I don't want to impose or anything, Taylor, or--or get involved in anything that really isn't any of my business, but if you need to talk about anything or you have something on your mind you want to get out, you've been there for me over the years. You've been there for my family. You've--you've been a rock for us, and I just-- I want to return the favor. So what is it? You can-- you can tell me anything.

Taylor: You don't know, do you? Your mother didn't tell you?

Rick: About what?

Taylor: (Sighs)

Taylor: (Sobs) (sighs) (sobs)

Rick: Does it-- does this have to do with--with Jack? Taylor, what is going on with your son?

Taylor: (Sobs) (sobbing)

Rick: Oh, my God.

Bridget: Hello. Are, um, are we holding hands?

Brooke: Uh, no. We're just talking.

Nick: Yeah.

Bridget: Oh, right. I wonder if Taylor or Ridge would have thought it was just a "conversation" if they had walked in instead of me.

Brooke: Honey, we ran into each other. It's really no big deal.

Bridget: Right.

Nick: We don't want Ridge or Taylor or anyone misinterpreting anything.

Brooke: Well, right.

Nick: Okay. Well, listen, thanks for your help with Taylor, okay? And your concern. Everything's gonna work out fine and be okay.

Brooke: Okay.

Nick: Bridget.

Bridget: Mm-hmm. Mother, my goodness. What is wrong with you?

Brooke: (Sighs)

Bridget: Are you just trying to get yourself in trouble? You can't be sitting here holding hands with him.

Rick: Taylor... (sighs) I am so sorry. I mean, I-I can't even imagine what--what this is doing to you.

Taylor: Yeah. It's a little mind-blowing, isn't it? (Exhales deeply)

Rick: When did you-- when did you find out about this?

Taylor: Oh... (laughs) right after Jack was born. (Scoffs) He needed a bone marrow transplant, and we needed to find the egg donor that I had chosen. And when she wasn't a match--

Rick: That's when my mom had to donate the bone marrow.

Taylor: (Sniffles) and I've gotta tell you, um, I know that Jack wouldn't even be here, and he wouldn't even be alive right now if it wasn't for your mother giving the bone marrow, but... (sniffles) I'm sorry, I'm not grateful.

Rick: I understand.

Taylor: You do?

Rick: Yeah, I do.

Taylor: No, you must hate me that I'm saying that about your mother.

Rick: No, Taylor, I don't--I don't-- I don't hate you. Look, it's because Brooke is my mother that I understand. You forget that, being Brooke's son, I was there. Taylor, just because I was a child, just because I was young, d-doesn't mean that I couldn't see what--what it was doing to you. All those times that she was going after Ridge over and over again-- I saw it all. I mean, don't get me wrong, okay? My mother is the most important person in my life. I love her. But it doesn't mean that I love the choices that she's made, especially when those choices have--have hurt other people. And more often than not, you were the other person getting hurt.

Taylor: (Sighs)

Rick: Now, Taylor, I don't believe that my mother had anything to do with what actually happened in that fertility lab. But I do know that that doesn't make you hurt any less. You probably thought you were done with my mother forever, and now you two will be connected always.

Taylor: I don't want to talk about this anymore.

Rick: Okay. I'm sorry. But I do want to say that for whatever it's worth you can come to me anytime. And if there's anything that I can do, anything at all, j-just don't hesitate to call me, okay?

Taylor: Thanks.

Rick: (Laughs)

Taylor: (Sniffles)

Taylor: (Sniffles)

Taylor: (Sighs) it's true. I can't ever escape Brooke. How the hell can I? (Exhales deeply)

Taylor: Damn Brooke... always there-- opportunistic. (Scoffs) (laughs) You finally get Ridge, yeah. You do that. I move on with my life. I get another man, a wonderful man--Nick-- and then you have to come in and go after him. You get away from him.

Jack: (Giggles)

Rick: All right, you two, I want you both to be honest with me.

Brooke: (Scoffs) Rick, what is it?

Rick: I just came from seeing Taylor.

Bridget: Oh, no.

Rick: And she told me the truth about Jack's maternity. Now tell me is there any possibility, any possibility that what happened in the fertility lab wasn't a mistake?

Brooke: How could you even ask that?

Rick: Well, Mom, you've done a lot of crazy things in the name of love.

Brooke: Rick, I had nothing to do with switching those eggs.

Bridget: Come on, Rick, don't you remember how overwhelmed with worry I was when I first thought that there was even a possibility of this happening?

Rick: Okay, okay. I didn't want to think otherwise, but I had to ask, all right?

Bridget: Gosh.

Rick: But look, lack of malicious intent is not gonna bring any more comfort to Taylor. Look, I'm really worried about her. She's freaking out.

Brooke: What do you mean?

Rick: Well, she's depressed, Mom. I was there, and--and she's-- I don't know, she's carrying quite the grudge on her shoulders over you.

Brooke: Nick thinks she's fine, on the road to recovery, but it doesn't sound like she is. And now the little baby is in her care. I'm not gonna let her self-destruct around him. I'm not. Somehow I have to save little Jack.

Nick: Hey, what's going on? What's the matter? Taylor, what's-- what's the matter?

Taylor: (Crying) It's Brooke. I've had it. I've had it with Brooke.

Nick: Brooke?

Taylor: (Sobbing)

Nick: Oh, my God. I'm so sorry--these pictures. I had no idea I still had these. I'm sorry.

Taylor: (Sniffling)

Nick: I'm sorry.

Taylor: She's everywhere. She's everywhere. She's in this house. She's--she's everywhere I look. She's--she's in my child. She's in my mind.

Nick: Shh, shh, shh, shh. Hey, hey.

Taylor: (Sniffling)

Taylor: (Sighs) Oh, God, make her go away! Make her go away! No! (Crying) make her go away! She's driving me insane! (Sobbing)
